Lips went dry and heavy exhales condensed in the air as the blizzard raged on, wounds bleeding adequately now with Adrien's right arm taking the brunt of the damage as it shielded his face from the oncoming storm of shards. The Dusknoir behind him would barely dodge the powered up Shadow ball and took some damage although Blissey's heal pulse did well to keep the damage to a minimum. "Will-o-wisp! Earthquake!," Adrien would only stop and turn once, forcing himself to speak up through the numbing cold as he ordered the pokemon to shift attention to the Lucario.
The Dusknoir would immediately oblige, a circular set of five flames lighting up before the cyclops and sent at the aura pokemon. Another Earthquake would have the earth rumble immediately after, hopefully affecting the unseen exadrill below ground level as well. By now Adrien would turn his attention back to Liam, his words cutting deep. "I'd like to see you try," He'd snarl back, swinging away his arm as he'd quicken his pace towards the man, eeleckross re-emerging on the field.
"Aqua Tail," An order and the eel would slither away and lash its powerful tail at the pillar, crushing it. This time it was weary for any unseen attacks from below. Through the debris and cold weather Adrien would finally reach the other side. "Come out!" The admin's eye scanned the area for the blond's movement if any. Another pokeball drawn, but no movements made just yet. He knew what he was to do, but before that...
"Mastry! You need to leave!" His voice was hoarse from the numbing cold, and while he didn't look back, his words would hopefully travel to the other side.

give it up
IT'S THE SAME OLD STORY BUT YOU NEVER GET IT RIGHT
The pillar had crumbled in front of them and while Adrian’s emerald irises scrutinized where the stones had fallen, she could not tell where Liam had disappeared to. A click of the tongue in disappointment could be heard as the ranger placed the pistol back into the holster temporarily. Holding the cold metal for too long was going to cause her to lose body heat faster and she had to stay on her toes to make sure that Adrien had not done anything stupid. Biting into her bottom lip, her eyes strayed from where the shattered pillar had fallen to the rest of the field. That was when she had noticed that the blue haired man had walked off a good distance.
Adrian felt like punching him in the face for the umpteenth time, feeling the urge to yank at her own hair for how irritating this was. Another Earthquake shook the ground making the ranger unsteady once again. Her eyes narrowed as her concentration was placed into walking towards Arkwright. Thankfully the blizzard was slowing down this time around, likely due to the Dusknoir’s interference with the Kingdra. It hardly gave her much comfort however it made hearing things and moving around easier – for better or for worse.
It certainly made hearing the jab at herself much more prominent and it hurt her pride despite knowing the words were to antagonize her. The woman trusted her own ability more than she would most of the other rangers at her command, yet if she couldn’t stop a potential murder then what good did that mean? She couldn’t tell if her heart was beating faster or not due to how numb she felt like she was becoming, however she did exhale to try to calm herself for once as the mist from her breath dispersed. Wasting her energy on words did not seem like a good idea. On the other hand Adrien had fallen for it and snapped back. It didn’t bode well in the slightest as a low groan traveled to her throat.
As the electric eel was sent back out to battle, Blissey took note of its health and released heal pulse to remedy that. Unknowingly this had her exposed to attack as the Kingdra popped up and toxic goop was spat onto her. She gave a sound of displeasure as the poison seeped through her body and took the liberty of focusing her energy on the egg in her pouch for soft boiled to regain some of her strength. Adrian would allow her Blissey to take care of herself and the other pokemon so she could get back to Adrien’s side. Before she could however his voice had been carried to where she stood and instantly her cool was lost once again, the thought of conserving her strength lost to her. “You’ve got to be kidding,” she shouted vehemently. He was still telling her to leave, the nerve. It was not like she was there to have a picnic or anything. She knew the risks and what it meant to come here to confront Liam.
The cold air was infecting her voice yet she’d force her words out anyway. With Adrien treating her like a child it made her feel sick. She wasn’t the irresponsible one here. “That’s my line Arkwright!” Taking a few steps further forward to close the gap, her eyes scanned occasionally to make sure that Liam nor his pokemon would come out of nowhere, not anticipating the Excadrill below of course. “You need to go back. Stay away from this place and Liam. Let me do my fucking job.”
the earth shook once again as hands braced. he only worries for the mole that was underneath the ground, who somehow manages to evade and not get damaged by the movement of the earth. he remains there for now, taking his position underneath as he awaited orders. he soon hears something slithering towards him, unable to look in time he could only cringe at the sound of concrete being destroyed. it misses his head thankfully, debris idly falling onto him.
he quickly scurries away to another, keeping low along the ground. he can no longer ignore the growing possibility that he might just lose this battle. he's outnumbered, he realizes it. he stays still again, back against the pillar as his breathing quickens. his heart races, pain echoing through his body. he clutches his chest, tries his best to make the pain subside. it's not even real, just memories, scars.
"zu!"
the ground that the galactic stood upon would shake for a brief moment before cracking. it splits open, and from it comes an excadrill, claws slashing at both the man's legs in an attempt to take him to the ground. it happened quick, and whether or not the DIG attack succeeded the excadrill would DIG into the ground once again to await mor orders. he peers around the corner, eyes searching for signs of the man and whether his plan succeeded.
meanwhile both the lucario and kingdra had a battle on their hands. uca's unable to dodge either of the attacks, the will-o-wisp making his arm catch on fire. the lucario clutches it, swipes at the flames only to be hit by a sharp rock that emerged from the ground. he's hurt, sent flying back. the fire's still on him, and he's certain he wasn't going to last much longer. in retaliation and desperation he sends out two SHADOW BALLS at the dusknoir, hoping that with the nasty plot from earlier would be enough to make it faint.
the earthquake hits dra too, but it hurt him less than it did the lucario. he shakes it off, his battle so far has been much easier. he needs to carry the weight of his partner that was soon to fall. another BLIZZARD takes the battlefield, piercing shards of ice flying through. temperature would drop once again. with more than enough space he shoots out a strong stream of HYDRO PUMP at the ranger, hoping to at least injure her or knock her down.
liam's kept busy with his own shit. he knows that more mockery would do him no good, but it was hard to resist. "you should listen to your bitch, adrien."
- special attack +2 - lucario is hit by will-o-wisp - lucario is hit by earthquake - lucario uses shadow ball on dusknoir - lucario uses shadow ball on dusknoir - lucario is hurt by burn

A pink-hued pulse the was sent the eel's way, Adrien momentarily stumped as the pokemon's health was replenished before putting two and two together. Adrian's blissey was responsible and while the gesture was acknowledged, this was neither the time nor place to express gratitude. Instead Adrien was just further frustrated as Mastry refused to leave and instead followed him to the more chaotic side of the battlefield. His head would snap towards her and lips parted to speak but not a word was uttered, the man already having given up that words would get through her thick skull. If worst came to worst, he'd have his pokemon take her away from the area forcefully.
The pillar would collapse soon enough as through the dust and debris, the Galactic admin would peer to relocate his target. Liam was on the run now. "Just stay out of my way!" He'd warn the ginger before setting off and attempting to give chase, hardly making much distance before the eartbh before his feet erupted. Fuck. Adrien had a nary a second to spare and make sense of the situation before an oh-so familiar exadrill would lurch forward at him, clawed appendages cutting deep into the fabric and at his calves.
"Gah!," Pain raced up his legs as lost balance and strength in his legs, stumbling forward a few steps before collapsing forward all together. The admin would use his hands to stop himself from falling flat, eyes closed tight as he'd breathe heavily as he tried to compose himself. He'd click his tongue in disgust, annoyed at himself for falling for that. He was losing blood fast but at this point it was the least of his concerns, his good eye flickering up and at Liam. "Thunder... Bolt," He'd muster the voice to speak through the pain, and the Eelecktross would abide immediately, sending a streak of lightning directly for the fleeing criminal.
Meanwhile Dusknoir would manage to evade the first shadow ball, the second hitting it square in the torso and caused it to stagger. Hades would hit the ground immediately, weakned and close to fainting by now. Extending an arm, the cyclops would pulsate a beam of ice at the aura pokemon before placing both hands on the earth and causing another tremor to unsettle the field.
As for Adrien, the man would slowly attempt to push himself on his knees and slowly try to lift himself up again, the sudden blizzard doing little to help him as they dug into him again. The Arkwright was only able to spectate with concern as a hydro pump was launched behind him and towards the ginger. "Mastry! Run!" He'd call out to her before Liam would taunt again and make his presence known. With the blue - haired male unable to take on his adversary on his own now, Adrien would instead send the eel at this this time. "Aqua Tail!" He was going to finish this. Even if it took the life out of him.

give it up
IT'S THE SAME OLD STORY BUT YOU NEVER GET IT RIGHT
Stay out of my way. The was the first time anyone had spoken to Adrian in such a manner that it was almost impressive if not for the idiocy that was associated with it. Instead out of pure disdain for the statement her hands balled into a fist, her nails digging into the palm of her hand that signaled she was still registering pain. Her gaze shifted as the sound of another pillar shattering rang through the area. From that she noticed some movement however as she moved her hand to her gun, her slowed movements due to the temperature drop caused her lose sight of Liam. As she tried to search for where he could have scurried off to, the sound of pain caught the ranger off guard. Instinctively she turned towards the source and the sight of Adrien stumbling and falling fell into her view. The sight of crimson red falling to the ground was enough for her to piece together what had happened, only further establishing she needed to keep a more watchful eye of Arkwright.
Or - you know - get him to leave period.
In the meantime Blissey was keeping careful watch on the Dusknoir and Eelektross, thus when the Dusknoir hit the ground another heal pulse was sent its way. The tick of poison in her body was draining her energy however the egg pokemon was determined to continue her duty until she had fallen. At the sound of the human in pain, Blissey's attention was divided even further and waddled over to Adrien's side. While she could not heal him like she could pokemon, she wanted to try to help as she tried to poketalk the man down from standing back up. In doing so there was a pained sound from the poison running its course that the ranger took note of however and while she was proud of the pokemon for trying to assist however knew she had to recall her. Arkwright wasn't listening to her anyway so she did not expect her pokemon to get through either.
Recalling Blissey took a matter of seconds which was the same time to took for the hydro pump to launch towards her. This time from her peripheral vision, Adrian had taken notice of it right as Arkwright had called out to her. For once she would listen to Adrien and try to run out of the way, only for her body to disobey entirely. Midstep the ginger found her leg failing from the cold as she fell to the ground in a similar manner as Adrien had moments prior. Kicking to plan B, Adrian dropped one of her pokeballs and allowed the pokemon inside to act in her stead. Her partner appeared in a burst of light and reacted accordingly by using Psycho Cut to slash the hydro Pump in two. Regardless of what happened after that, the water droplets that were in the air from the water attacks were surrounding the hotheaded ranger and for once the woman was feeling weaker than ever. It felt disgusting. "F-fuck off Arkwr-right." Already her words were slurring a bit as her body was shaking in an effort to keep warm.
The dark type had since then walked over to Adrian's side to help the woman back to her feet. The ranger accepted the help and her hands lingered in the Absol's fur for a moment due to the warmth they gave. However there were more pressing issues here with someone else that was seriously injured. "A-Absol, p-protect t-the blue hair." The attacker was still out there and currently Arkwright's life had to be prioritized. The Absol looked reluctant to part however took the order in stride as the four legged pokemon made his way over to Adrien. Had Arkwright been targeted again, then Absol knew to help him.
Liam's words would serve to make things worse. This must have been a game to him and thinking about that made her feel dizzy. She had to end this as fast as possible. She had to save Adrien even if her pride had to be hit. "L-Leave! P-please!" Her emerald eyes turned to Arkwright, her voice pleading for him to listen to her for once.
as he stepped around a pillar to head to another he hears a jolt of electricity dance across the battlefield. he can't turn his head in time, can't avoid the impending jolt that struck his left arm. it causes him to go numb, the impact sends him flying straight into a pillar. he hits it back face, head narrowly misses the concrete as he falls onto the floor. the pain was excruciating, so much so that he can barely push himself off the ground again. he remains on the ground planted downwards, cheek against the cold floor as blurry eyes watched.
the barrage of attacks that came onto the lucario was more than enough to bring him down. he falls to the floor off to the side. the other two somehow manage to dodge the earthquake. they did not await any orders from the man, instead deciding to take things into their own hands.
dra realizes that the dusknoir was close to fainting, its demeanor and posture tells it. he takes a dive into the water before shooting back out, a DRAGON PULSE sent straight at the ghost type. he falls back into the water, but his eyes catches a glimpse of trouble; the man being targeted by the eel. he dives back down and swiftly makes his way over.
zu remembers where the ranger stood from before. he digs through the earth, using his claws to pave a way. he can feel the vibrations from above, realizes that her pokemon must have left her side which leaves her all alone, defenseless, vulnerable. he turns upwards, claws leading the way before bursting out of the ground right underneath the ranger for a DIG attack. just like the last time he slashes at the ranger's legs, hoping to render them useless before spiraling back down into the ground for another DIG.
he can't feel his arm anymore, loses all sensation in it. he's still planted on the ground. he struggles to move, every attempt just results in more pain. it hurts to move, he realizes that something must have been damaged by the impact against the pillar. he's now defenseless on the stone cold floor. he sees the eel slithering forward. he grits his teeth in preparation, maybe even to accept his fate. he's just about done with everything, ready to give up as eyes shut.
thump!
his heart skips a beat, eyes opening again. he looks behind him and sees the kingdra sent straight at a pillar. he crashes into it, concrete cracking as the water type falls to the floor. dra soon hovers back up again to deliver a HYDRO PUMP to the eel in an attempt to get it to create distance between it and the man. it's not long until the kingdra scurries off into the water again.
"t-thank you..." he whispers. the sacrifice that the kingdra was willing to make really set something off in him, as if a spark was reignited. he grunts as he shifts on the floor. he uses his right elbow to support move of his weight as he still could not feel his left. he crawls along the ground, away from the galactic that stalked. he pants, breathes heavily before taking refuge behind rubble. he shifts himself so the back of his head and shoulders were laid on the concrete.
"why don't you recall your eel so we can settle this properly?" he yells, voice raspy. his entire body felt weak, felt like it could just give up at any moment. but he hangs on.
- lucario faints
- kingdra dodges earthquake - kinga uses dragon pulse on dusknoir - kingdra intercepts aqua tail - kingdra uses hydro pump on eelektross
- excadrill dodges earthquake - excadrill uses dig on adrian - excadrill digs into the earth

The thunderbolt struck the enemy and despite the pain that coursed through Adrien's legs, a smile would creep onto his face - - the satisfaction of seeing Liam fall making this all worth it. Unfortunately, even if he did try to ignore the pain, his body wasn't responding accordingly and standing up took effort he couldn't muster. A hand instinctively attempted to lean on the absol that had come to his aid, the admin now dizzy and light-headed. The blood puddling at his feet would cause him to lose consciousness no doubt, even willpower doing little to combat it.
The Eelecktross' attack was rendered useless with the kingdra's hydro pump successful in creating distance. Dusknoir, on the other hand, wasn't able to take the dragon breath and would succumb to the damage caused soon enough. As for Adrien, he'd finally begin walking towards Liam when a certain rude stutter would cause him to turn his head once more. Adrian should have been able to evade the attack... At least that's what he had assumed although what he witnessed struck fear into him immediately.
"A-Adrian?!," His voice had lost its vigor, partly because of the cold and his injuries and partly because hesitation took over. She had been drenched from the attack and with the blizzard raging on, even he could tell that hypothermia could set in anytime. He'd stumble backwards and towards her, although couldn't get too far before attempting to lean on the absol again. And then, as if timed, Liam would bark once more - - his proposal to settle this 'properly' was tempting. So very tempting that it left the blue-haired male at a crossroad. Save Adrian or finish Liam off. He was so close and now...
"Fuck off! You do that and want to settle it 'properly'?" Adrien would extend his arm back, a palm gesturing towards the fallen and critically injuried ranger. Liam didn't play fair, that was establish a while back. He'd raise his voice a final time, his throat numbing soon after. Tch. The man clicked his tongue and closed his eyes in defeat, two pokeballs each recalling the Dusknoir and Eelecktross. He had paid heed to Liam's words. At least, that's what it seemed until two other pokemon were summoned forth - Skarmory and Salamance now at the Galactic's side. "Dark Pulse. Cover us," The steel bird had its orders and took flight soon enough, a dark pulse aimed at the pillars near Liam in an attempt to have them come crushing on him.
As for Salamence, Adrien would a sling a hand over the dragon's neck and took support as he'd edge closer towards Adrian. Once by her side, he'd attempt to yank her up by her wrist and support her with another hand. "Get on, we're leaving..." He'd murmur, his voice turning hoarse now and eyes lowered in dejection. The Salamence would crouch low should Adrian wish to embark.
Hopefully Skarmory would be able to keep them occupoed for a while longer.
IT'S THE SAME OLD STORY BUT YOU NEVER GET IT RIGHT
It was almost as if Adrian was asking for something to happen to her, for after she had called for Adrien to leave did the ground below her shift violently. Looking down from impulse, the sight of the familiar claws emerging from below her made her eyes widen. She should have moved once she noticed - she would have - yet for some reason she had froze up at the sight. Her legs would not heed her direction and those moments felt like an eternity as the ranger watched the Excadrill dig right into her flesh. There was a sharp breath, Adrian's lips parting as every single fiber of her being wished for her to scream, yet nothing came out. Whether it was due to her sheer force of will or lack of energy even Adrian herself wouldn't know. In the end however the result was the same and the ranger was sent plummeting down to the ground.
There was deep burning pain from her calves as the attack left deep gashes in her skin. The crimson liquid came soon after that dripped quickly down her leg and served to make her feel that much colder. That much weaker. Even pushing herself off the ground felt like a lot of effort and she hated that. The sound of Arkwright calling her name did not make her feel any better and immediately she tried to force herself to recover. Shifting her arms down to push herself back up, the effort she exerted proved futile as her arms gave way to her weight as well.
Absol barked his name at the sight of the ginger however he didn't move to return to the ranger's side. Adrian made the call to protect someone else and the fact that the Absol was being leaned upon for support forced the pokemon's paws to be tied. Of course with the following development the dark type followed after Arkwright as he made his way backwards. Unfortunately, Adrian could hear everything that was said despite her condition. The mixture of Arkwright and her Absol showing concern for her was not part of the plan. The anger and burning she had felt was fading to complete numbness. Part of her wished that the cold had taken away her sense of hearing along with her sense of feeling as no matter what happened now the guilt was building in her chest.
The feeling of warmth from Adrien's touch was lost to her and the only sensation noticed was the somewhat familiar one of being shifted around. There were some mixed feelings to what she thought she had heard, some part relief and some part disgruntled, as she tried to respond defiantly. "N-no." her hand tried to wave him off however it looked rather pathetic from her position being supported by Adrien. She couldn't let it end like this. Her body should have been able to last out for a bit longer. That was what she wanted to believe.
As her vision was starting to blur...
"S-stop... I c-can... d-do this."
and sleep was starting to look pleasant...
"Y-you g..." Go. She wanted to say go and her determination could be mistaken for stupidity with ease. In fact she would have called herself retarded if she heard herself at some other point of time. Yet she didn't want to be the reason for failure. This was her choice. If it had not been for her Absol interfering as well, the dark type almost shoving the ginger to get on the Salamence and further towards Adrien by extension, then things might have gone much worse. The order to cover the escape was taken by Absol as well as the dark type shifted gears to focus on allowing the humans to get to safety. Slamming his front paws into the ground, pillars of stone emerged from the ground to create a physical divide between the opposing pokemon and the Salamence with the use of stone edge.
By now Adrian was fading in and out of consciousness, leaving her fate foolishly in another's hands.
his ears listen closely to the man's movements, curiosity peaking when no more footsteps were heard. he raises an eyebrow, tempted to just peer around the corner but it might not be the best idea given how unpredictable the galactic was. so he stays put and is soon greeted by the reappearance of the mole. zu pops back out of the ground, his claws tinted stained a murky red. he stares at it for the longest time, in a bit of disbelief that he was capable of such things.
"zu...it's fine." he whispers. he extends out his hand which prompted the mole to move forward. a hand grasps around one of the stained claw, rubbing at it with a single finger in an attempt to wipe away the blood. the man feels both sad and guilty that he's had to force the mole to do such extreme things, something zu wasn't even capable of doing a few months ago. "i'm sorry, buddy..." he forces a smile. the water's too far away to wash it off, and given his condition he's not too sure if he can even make it. instead he reaches for a pokeball and taps it gently against the mole's head, a smile lingering on his lips until the flash of red disappeared.
he leans back against the rubble and sighs. he's lost in the moment, lost in his own thoughts of guilt and regrets to even notice the dark pulse. the pillar near him cracks, chunks of rock about to fall right onto him before a HYDRO PUMP clears it away. his heart quickens, he's had too many close calls today, but he isn't ready to leave, not quite yet.
finally he looks back around the corner to see a stone edge separating them. he can only assume they were about to make their escape. he won't allow them to. they must not make it out of here alive, he's going to make sure of it. someone has to die. a hand reaches upwards and places itself on the edge of a fallen slab. he uses it to support himself up, giving everything he had into his right arm. he struggles but eventually he's up. it hurts to stand, the idea of moving made him cringe. but he can't stand there, not when the enemy's right behind the stone edge. he finds the will to recall the kingdra as well, taking note that the lucario's body was still around somewhere. but that could wait.
two more pokeball emerge and out comes two ground types. dosi makes the ground shake as he lands on it, his feet thumping against the floor creating small cracks to form. drax hovers in front of them, finding the small cavern unpleasant, which in turn is causing him to get angrier. perfect.
liam takes two steps forward, legs trembling as he struggles to stay upright. his left arm hangs in front of him completely numb, useless as his eyes start to blur. he taps against dosi's back four times total with a brief interval after the second. a nod from the drill pokemon would follow.
dosi charges forward, his drill rotating violently in preparation, or is it a distraction? he heads straight for the skarmory, charging drill first and when he's close enough he'd fake an attack and swing with his arm instead, using a HAMMER ARM to try and catch the steel bird off guard. whether it landed or not would not matter as the rhyperior makes a quick turn. he now heads straight for the stone wall that blocks, the spinning drill impacting with the rock for a DRILL RUN. the wall shatters to reveal the enemy. liam's quick.
whistle.
the tail of the dinosaur finds its way slashing into the ground, causing chunks of rocks to fly at the enemy for a ROCK SLIDE attack. it's aimed to act as a distraction more than cause damage, giving the dinosaur much needed space to fly straight forward, wings cutting through the air as his head covers in a strong metallic coat. it ignores everything, colliding with everything that might stand in its path. an IRON HEAD would target the salamence and more importantly, the ranger on top of it.
meanwhile liam slowly starts to move forward, closing the distance between them. he limps, he almost falls a few times but he soon takes refuge at a nearby wall. he pants, eyes blinking but clarity in his vision not returning. he's struggling hard but he's so close.
"you...are not leaving...alive."
- excadrill is recalled - kingdra is recalled
- rhyperior uses hammer arm on skarmory - rhyperior uses drill run to break through
- aerodactyl uses rock slide on both - aerodactyl uses iron head on salamence

She tried to resist and Adrien could only let an exasperated sigh escape at her weak protests, far too exhausted and in pain to spare words or scoldings. The Absol's assistance was greatly appreciated in getting Adrian over the dragon, the Galactic's own legs buckling as he'd lean his head against the Salamence. Eyes closed as he'd breath heavily taking in all the sounds from his surroundings. Liam was still alive, Adrian was fatally injured and himself...he wanted to give in. This sensation wasn't new. In fact it was one he was well acquainted with, Adrien having barely survived near death instances in the past. He knew what would happen if he let himself drift off now, alas couldn't help but give in. Give in until Absol's extended shove would jolt him back to reality, eyes flinging open in a sudden daze and confusion. And then it came back to him.
Adrian. Utterly discombobulated, the man would manage to pull himself over the Salamence with absol's assistance, a hand wrapping itself around the ranger as he tried to keep her steady. Turning to look at her he'd freeze momentarily as she drifted in and out of consciousness. "No. No. D-Don't close your eyes," His palm would gently tap her cheek, panic setting in as he assumed the worst. her body was going cold and limp. They needed to get to a hospital fast. "Salamence..." He'd tap an urging hand over the top of the dragon's body, the pokemon immediately taking flight and racing for the exit.
As for Skarmory, the pokemon had managed to evade the hammer arm attack alas wasn't as fortunate to evade the rock slide attack. It would screech as it took a bit of damage before attempting to bury the fleeting aerodactyl in a rock tomb attack of its own. Despite his pokemon's screech inundating the air, Adrien couldn't think properly at the moment let alone give sensible orders. His own senses were dulling and all he could afford to mumble was a plea at the ranger. "Please be okay. Please don't go...Please..." His voice was broken and expression distraught, the man refusing to believe she was dying. He'd hold he close hoping his own warmth would help her stay awake just a while longer. He couldn't afford losing her too. It was a selfish request alas at this point he didn't care.
Alas, their escape wasn't as smooth as he'd hope, the iron head from the aerodactyle striking the side of the Salamence. "Tch!" Adrien would grit his teeth at the unexpected attack, tightly griping onto Adrian with one arm and the Salamence's neck with the other the dragon swerved one side before recovering. Skarmory on the other hand would follow close behind the dragon a final dark pulse aimed at the aerodactyl as it tried to create distance between it and its trainer.
He had to get out as soon as possible. A hand slipped into his coat and another pokeball was pulled out. If all failed, this would be his final attempt...

IT'S THE SAME OLD STORY BUT YOU NEVER GET IT RIGHT
If Adrian had found herself in such a situation weeks ago where her life was in danger and being cradled in Arkwright's arms, she wouldn't have believed it. In some ways death might have been preferable. Oh how the tides have changed. Not that the woman could tell what was going on anymore. The sounds that surrounded her let her know the fight continued however she could hardly spare the effort to move her body no matter how much she wanted to. What was worse was that from wherever she was, she could now hear Adrien's words - the concern in his voice - and the ranger could only imagine how pathetic she must have looked for that to happen.
It was not as if Adrian had lost all feeling in her body yet, the feeling of something against her cheek a welcome reminder of this. Her emerald irises sluggishly shifted towards the hazy outline of the human figure that was assumed to be Adrien. She wasn't sure if she should have been grateful she couldn't see all too well or not. "..." There was a figment of thought on responding to him. Anything, even a simple okay. Unfortunately in her current state, the woman was unable to do even that much. Her eyelids lowered from the struggle to fight the temptation that was sleep. In some vain attempt to alleviate his fears, the ranger forced her eyes to focus on the blurry face of Adrien to keep her eyes open. Her haggard breathing steadied for now despite the long pauses between her slow breaths.
As the Salamence was taking off, Adrian couldn't exactly tell that she was being moved aside from the sensation of wind brushing on her already pale skin. The sounds of pokemon cries and crashes further emphasized that the ranger was needed. Every second of this felt like it should have been painful. Unfortunately the concern was shared by the Absol who had watched the stone wall get destroyed by the large rock type. There was not much the dark type could do to help that did not also risk the Salamence, thus Absol refrained from doing anything reckless. On that note, knowing something must be done, Absol shifted his attention to the thread that was made. Seeing some opportunity due to the position of the other pokemon, the Absol attempted to shoot a psycho cut at Liam to get more attention and hopefully injure him. He would not wait to see how the attack turned out though as he attempted his own escape seeing as how Adrian was otherwise incapacitated.
Speaking of, the turbulence was difficult to miss even for someone who had been so out of it. She could only guess that her words were unheeded. Of course Adrian was in no position to argue further. Adrien's words served to complicate matters and in some ways the ginger wondered if the person holding her was truly the man she thought he was. While she wanted to blink in an attempt to bring focus back into her vision, part of her withheld for fear of not being able to open her eyes after. As she was being held, the little warmth he had tickling her chilled body, she wanted to tell him not to worry. Her lips parted to call his name however her voice failed in that regard too. Her lips barely moved to mouth his name that was easily missed if one was not paying attention. Weakly taking her right hand up in an effort to reach out to his face, her hand had touched Adrien's instead from his coat pocket, not that the ranger had known what he was planning to do.
Her hand had gone numb but she knew that her hand had touched something. The usual force and firmness of her grip would remain absent and gravity would serve to show that resistance. Deciding to try again, she futilely curled her fingers around his hand. "D... do...n't." Her voice came out this time, albeit hoarse, and not being able to muster everything she wanted to say. She was aiming for 'don't worry about me' yet somehow it didn't feel like what she had said was enough.
back around the aerodactyl would turn, flying back to its trainer's side. though the dinosaur would not be fast enough to block the psycho cut that came. liam's groggy, vision way too blurry to even see it coming. it might have been pure luck or someone watching out for him but his body gives up at the last moment, drifts off to the side just enough to make the psycho cut miss his entire body and just slice at his left shoulder. he hears his skin rip but he feels nothing, the effects of the electricity still numbing everything. he falls entire onto the ground, head gently bouncing off the concrete as blood from multiple sources pour onto the floor.
he can't bear to keep his eyes open any longer, so he gives in to everything; the tiredness, the exhaustion, the pain. he shivers, body temperature dropping ever so slowly as every breath becomes short and panicked. suddenly the idea of death doesn't seem too bad. he has no sense of purpose, unsure of where to go or even what to do now. he curls up in an attempt to converse body heat, a weak hand reaches into his pocket and presses a single button, unsure of what might even emerge. an arcanine materializes out of white. it doesn't take arc long to understand the situation, he immediately looks around to observe. he sees the fallen lucario and runs over to help uca onto his back, soon enough they'd be on their way out of the waterfall through the pathway.
dosi on the other hand would have a harder time finding his way out. he's unsure of what to do, and staying there was not an option. so he trudges over to the fallen man and nudges gently. the man counts the number of pokeball in his pockets using the tip of his fingers. he's weak but he manages to pull one out, letting it lay on his palm as dosi pushes his head against it. a flash of red and back into his pocket the pokeball went. that's the last thing the man manages to do before passing out, no longer able to remain awake since there was nothing for him to hold on to, to fight for.
drax tries its best to get the man onto his back but every attempt ended in failure. it had no other choice but to use its claws to pinch into the man's shoulders, holding him up like a corpse as they flew away from the waterfall, very reminiscent to that one fateful day in veiilstone.
