major news alert!
witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
His expression, tense, his movement, constrained, and his mood, adversely affected by the rigamarole of his fellow rangers. For all intents and purposes, he was a rookie, with no real connections to the lot of those with whom he shared a title. Because of this, he could only sit back and spectate, not daring to speak, even if he had anything to say. His position, in the back (literally and figuratively) with his fellow cadets, was best suited for quiet observation.
A few things he thought he knew, believed or felt: Athena seemed a force of a woman. So much so that Jean figured he’d probably have a few, let’s say, carnal thoughts of her for a brief time after this was all said and done.
The young raven-haired woman, Isabelle, apparently, seemed fairly level-headed, and it says well of the young man who nominated her to have done so.
This Rory, however, seemed much the opposite.
And while many might have wanted him to shut up, it was equally uncouth, to say the least, of this Taar Godfrey to have done so.
Chaotic. That’s how Jean would describe this meeting to anyone lucky enough not to have attended it.
It's not long before the meeting spirals out of control; Jason watches helplessly as people stand and start arguing, cadets that should have no say, a ranger that's had his badge taken away, and the multitudes of people who have no idea what they're talking about.
He growls under his breath, hand reaching forward to throw the chair, but Isabelle stops him just in time. She's right. He can't mess up -- but he can't deny that he's a little heated. Jason lets Isabelle do all the talking for him, because otherwise he'd say something he'd regret.
Athena has made no comment, and when he glances at her, it seems as if she's not going to make a move to do so. Such lack of leadership has not and will not unite the rangers, and he's slightly worried about the fact that she'll be going to Kalos. If she couldn't control the rangers here, than she won't be able to when there's unrest.
He cranes his neck when suddenly someone collapses, Taar's hand outreached. She's obviously the culprit, but Jason can't exactly be angry at her. He guesses that he doesn't have to throw the chair after all. Fortunately, Adrian sends her pokemon to help him.
At this, he only runs a hand through his hair and looks to everyone, anyone for guidance. Adrian and Isabelle are sure to be great candidates, and Jason would say that he'd be a good one too if not for how arrogant he'd seem, especially right after Rory nominated himself. He may be cocky, but he isn't an idiot.
"I agree with Adrian." He says, using his mature and professional ranger voice. Any chance of this not blowing up in their faces rely solely on the elites and admins. "We need a leader people will respect and trust. Someone," He says, pointedly looking away from the lowly cadets. He focuses his gaze instead at the front rows of rangers who've proven themselves worthy.
"level headed and experienced. Status and rank should be taken into consideration because of that. A rash or violent leader will only make our reputation worse."
Jason sighs. He never likes to be so serious, but right now is when it matters the most. He calls it when he sees it, and realizes in a slightly cynical tone, that most of these rangers would be unfit to lead. With those statements, that leaves only a handful of people. Easy choices that should be common sense in his eyes.
"I'm siding with Adrian or Isabelle. Call me biased, but you'd be stupid to not recognize what they've done for the association."
[attr="class","mapstempgen2"] THE NEXT COMMISSIONER!
[attr="class","mapstempgen3"]WILL IT BE YOU?
[break][break] Breaking the silence wasn’t the easiest of tasks and when the one to do so was a controversial person, there was nary a doubt that all hell would break loose. And so it did. One after another, rangers would stand and voice their qualms and preferred nominees. One even attempts to advise Athena whilst the woman on the stage has yet to even utter a word. Indifferent azure irises would shift as each spoke, a palm cradling the other in front of her as she quietly let each have their say and more. Almost all of those who had been nominated had spoken except Corbin Cole and Athena would respect his decision to remain silent.
[break][break]
Only when Taar chose to exercise violence would the Commissioner’s brows furrow, eyes closing shut for a moment as fleeting irritation flashed past her visage. Besides Adrian, two medics had already risen from their seats and were by Rory’s side, one would loosen up his shirt and raise his legs over the chair while the other would assess the situation before flashing Athena a thumb’s up sign. Rory McClain should come around soon enough and if not it seemed his situation was far worse than mere Syncope and he’d be taken out of the room.
[break][break] Regardless, such brutish tactics would not be entertained. “Taar Godfrey!” Athena spoke at last, and her voice was far from calm. And immediately one would realize that the hour for debacle had finally ceased. “Report to my office after this meeting,” That was all she’d spare the woman before refocusing her attention on the visibly perturbed audience. Only a nod was spared to Venti, his words refreshing amongst the chaos. A small smile, akin to a knowing parent was casted upon the masses before her lips parted to speak once more. She had expected this yet a part of her hoped they could have come to a consensus without dragging each other’s name in the mud. [break][break] “I said nominate. I said support. And yet, we turned to harass a person you believe is to be unfit to lead. And yet had I chosen my successor without consulting you lot, tell me, what guarantee would I get that this wouldn’t turn into another ‘Lena Ruddy Fiasco’? Am I wrong?” The fiery-haired woman stopped, a glance spared to Isabelle Night as she allowed the question to linger. “Would you still demean a sergeant if your old supervising officer was still one, Ms. Night?” She’d cock a brow and gaze at her visage for a decent moment. Lena Ruddy was a woman of great potential when she joined the force, such that the higher ups had believed that she was fit to be a Ranger Elite in less than week. It was impressive but it also had Miss Ruddy earn one united enemy – the same men and women that now were seated in this hall. “If our new commissioner is be treated the same way, then the Ranger Association would go to heck,” She’d pause once more, Athena now pacing about the stage. .[break][break] “And a clean track record is near impossible. The trials that are to come require you to sacrifice, understand and make some of the most painful decisions of your career. And if there a candidate in this room that hadn’t tasted backlash or failure, then step down right now because you will not be able to handle what’s to come,” A forewarning as she stopped and eyed Jason Day now. “It is easy to criticize but not to take a stand, is it not Jason? Rory perhaps isn’t fit to take charge just yet, but to speak up and break the silence takes spunk.” Her smile would soon disappear and her voice boomed. It was time to get back to the matter at hand.[break][break] “From those who have spoken and those who have acted today I have considered the following nominees, two who I have chosen myself – Isabelle Night, Jason Day and Adrian Mastry,” Athena had to immediately pause as clamor erupted, the shock settling in that the woman wasn’t playing around. And why?[break][break] “Isabelle Night has proven herself worthy, from taking the reins at the undersea palace and subduing Galacic at the Celestic Ruins to attempting to infiltrate Galactic from the inside. She may have not succeeded, but we now have more information on Galactic than ever before and that is a milestone we cannot ignore,” A hand then extended out to the redhead male besides her. “From taking another under your wing and performing what’s been asked of you to taking a stand against what was wrong at the Floaroma Cranidos Incident. While your track record seems insignificant, you’ve proven that you take your job as a ranger with utmost importance and that I will respect,” [break][break] A proud smile would resurface on her lips. And then the final candidate. “Adrian Mastry. You may be aloof yet have known to have risen to the occasion multiple times – from saving your comrade and a civilian to taking charge at the sea palace and from your actions just now, you’ve proven that as commissioner you may be able to accomplish great things.” [break][break] A hand was raised as she silenced the bickering audience and left them with a final instruction. [break][break] “I have already made my choice, but it is now up to you to select one from the three.” [break][break][BREAK]
One more turn before candidates are finalized. Athena will respond in two days’ time.
With Rory on the ground, the group getting increasingly heated with no signs of stopping, it seemed as if the meeting would really spiral out of control. At this, Athena finally chooses the time to intervene. Taar is (unfortunately) in trouble, and when she speaks, the audience grows quiet.
Athena spares no one in her scolding -- Jason included, and he finds that she hits each point with good reasoning and full understanding of the situation. She is the commissioner, after all. The rangers may not be united but she out of all the people should be aware of that.
It isn't surprising when Athena nominates rangers herself -- Isabelle and Adrian. Yet, he can't help but slightly balk when his name's been thrown in the loop. Nobody had nominated him, and his achievements pale in comparison to the other's, if he's being realistic. But he'll take the opportunity if he sees it. Jason clears his throat loudly, hopefully getting the attention of the rest of the rangers.
"Thank you, Athena." He starts, for once at a loss of words. He takes a moment to compose himself. "If I'm chosen as commissioner I pledge to lead to the best of my ability. And I'm sure both Adrien and Isabelle would do the same."

The way Isabelle, but most of all Rory spoke made Silas lose all interest in this formal event. The cadet laughed when the man was incapacitated by none other than the girl Silas had nominated, Taar Godfrey. But he knew it was probably because of him acting like Taar was Silas' girl. Which probably meant that he never had a chance with the girl. Not that he wanted one, but for just about any guy this was something that might be a blow to their ego. It was good that Silas didn't have much of one.
At least until now. Now he felt above them. The one dark-skinned ranger whose name he didn't know seemed like one of the most promising rangers in the room, though, and he was apparently just some Sergeant. But it didn't matter. These thoughts were discarded when Silas finally heard that Athena had decided, but still wanted to hear from the audience. The cadet felt his words didn't matter here, so he was done speaking. He was also done listening.
Standing up, the ranger started to walk out and head for the door even though none of them had been dismissed. He wasn't very sure if this would provoke Athena into scolding or singling him out, but Silas didn't care. He wanted so badly to raise his voice, but with so many people, it was likely he'd just get grouped up on by the rangers who were already affiliated. Silas didn't have any friends here. Nobody to have his back. Which wasn't very cool.

give it up
IT'S THE SAME OLD STORY BUT YOU NEVER GET IT RIGHT
In what seemed to be mere seconds, the ginger was flanked from both sides by medics who had taken charge of the medical attention of Rory. That was to be expected considering it was such a large gathering and briefly the woman wondered if her actions were truly necessary. Regardless the booming voice of the commissioner rang through the room and silenced many of the officers there. That kind of voice demanded authority and attention, however Adrian was more focused on what was going on before her. She would listen but did not turn her attention away until after the medics gave thumbs up. Even then she waited for Chansey's second opinion and received a similar response behind the medics. The woman did not even realize that someone was nominating her minutes prior.
As Adrian's attention was turned to the front once more as the commanding officer spoke, essentially reprimanding them on how the drove the meeting. Adrian had her own thoughts on the matter but kept them to herself as she continued to listen. Athena made her point - drove it into the heart of the meeting - and wrapped it up in a half tied bow. The meeting had yet to conclude and the names of nominees that were to be considered were spoken one after the other. The names of the first two were called and again Adrian knew little of their work. As the final name was called however she realized somewhat late that it was her own. "What?" Her volume was loud enough that the rangers around her in the sergeant/cadet seating area could hear her but not loud enough to extend farther. Adrian was in mild shock. That wasn't what she expected to happen. While she parted her lips to potentially say something further she stopped herself.
In actuality it felt nice to be recognized but the nomination from Athena she wondered if she deserved. All she had done was do what she felt was what need to be done. Either way she didn't care one way or another if she had actually gotten the title, but somehow doubted that it would be a popular choice. Each candidate was individually praised by Athena with either traits or achievements that gave them commendation. When it got to her, most of it came from her action at the Underwater ruins that felt like a month ago. For a moment she wondered how Athena knew the events that transpired there though again was in no position to question that now.
The man that was sitting next to Isabelle that was no identified as Jason Day spoke out now. Again she knew little of his work but he did seem to be interested in the title. While Adrian could have said her peace as well she didn't at the moment in favor of observing the atmosphere of the room. Tension was building as some were clamoring among themselves. One ranger even got up and tried to exit the room, the same cadet that had nominated the female that had attacked Rory. Adrian eyed him and though she was in proximity to stop him now that she stood in the back of the room, she didn't. It was not that the cadet's opinion didn't matter but dealing with tantrums was not her strong suit and she didn't want to give him the attention he clearly seemed to want. Instead she spoke herself, "Sure. If you want me to lead I'll lead," her tone was more casual than the formal one Jason took. Still her voice sounded confident in herself and was cast to the rest of the audience. Her gaze on the other hand was focused on Athena as if addressing her with that statement.
Then she'd shift to the rest of the rangers. Since she stood in the back now most people would have to turn to look at her. Athena has made her choice and as such the three of them were in the spotlight, which was still a shock to her. Regardless it would make their job easier. "Choose your new leader, but choose it wisely. This is not a decision to be made lightly." Perhaps this was obvious but it still needed to be said. She'd refrain from voting because she was in the running, at least until last second. "Regret is a strong poison. If you don't voice your opinion now then you have no right to complain later." She was still thoroughly convinced she was not a strong candidate despite the nomination from Athena backing her but only time will tell.

AND I WON'T FEEL A THING
here lies everything, the world i wanted at my feet
rory's still standing right in front of her when taar jumps out and snaps his neck or whatever and isabelle's eyes go wide before she reaches out grab his arm. "oii!" she shouts, and adrian mastry jumps into motion. isabelle lets him slowly down on the floor, before she thinks for a few seconds-- sun god's servant? did she hear that right? she looks up at taar searchingly, but by then medics have arrived on the scene, adrian's chansey is checking his vitals, and isabelle gives taar a concerned look. "that was unnecessary, sergeant," she says, half in awe of how the girl managed the guts to do that and half wanting to pat her on the back, but this was serious.
the girls then says that rory's asleep, and isabelle doesn't know how to respond. thankfully, athena takes it from there.
the hall is thrown back into silence, the only ones that dared to continue on while the redhaired commissioner spoke were the medics, to continued and carried rory out of the hall, away from the blushing white haired girl. when athena speaks her name, isabelle feels a thousand eyes on her, and again she's at a loss for words. she'd never really be able to rise to that, a part at the back of her mind whispers. but nothing chains her anymore. and so when it's over, and jason has spoken, isabelle nods at him with a faint and almost non-existent smile.
adrian speaks, and her casual tone unsettles isabelle, thought it seems fitting. adrian never seemed the ambitious type, she was fine with what she was doing, and hardly did more than what her sense of justice told her. she was a great ranger, despite her terrible communication skills and near absence of empathy that isabelle had observed during their mission to the wastelands. never the less, isabelle couldn't fault her for that, given the fact that doing so would be bordering hypocritical. "i will take this duty as my honor and pride, and carry the weight of this noble association on my shoulder--" the sarcasm comes to an abrupt stop-- "is what i could say. but i've already said all i meant to say a while ago." she pauses, half to collect her words (she's been speaking a lot more these days) and half for effect. "in reality, it boils down to..."
"what adrian said," isabelle echoed, but she didn't stop there. "i'm certain any of us will make an able leader, as am i certain that the others will have no issue in regardless of the decision." she wouldn't mind seeing jason commissioner, despite the fact that they never agreed when it came to raising pokemon, and adrian, she thought, would make a good leader despite her flaws.
she watches the crowd, eyes flickering ever so occasionally to athena.
when u rewrite the post 10 times but still dont like it :v• @rangerfam! • ###
"what is a sun god's servant?!?!" lily shouted in panic as she watched rory basically get knocked out by another ranger. she had been sitting in the seats just behind rory and had been watching the drag fest go on without saying much. what could she say? she didn't know everyone personally like some people did, only knowing what came through in reports and rumors. rory was a hot-head and had caused a lot of bad rep for the rangers but she didn't think he deserved to be knocked out like that.
the medics ran forward and lily got up and moved down the row, away from all the chaos erupting. she sat stiffly back down on an empty seat just as athena demanded attention from the entire room. her fingers tapped nervously on her knees as she glanced at each of the candidates that were called out by the commisioner. they all seemed trustworthy and fit to be the leader to her. she didn't know any of them personally except for adrian but from what she saw, they did a lot for the organization.
the chaos in the room had thankfully calmed down and she watched each of the candidates speak up at the pick. it was then silent after isabelle spoke and lily looked around the room to see if anyone was going to start. she saw one person get up and walk out and couldn't help but stare. well if no one was going to start...
lily stood suddenly and raised her hand in the air, fidgeting nervously as eyes turned to look at her. "i vote for isabelle night. she has shown countless times that she is the kind of leader that this organization needs. while i think everyone who was nominated could be a great leader and has done a lot for us, isabelle clearly has the motivation and skills that we need in order to continue fighting galatic. so i'm behind isabelle." she glanced at isabelle and gave a nod to her before turning to look around the room to see if anyone will give their vote.
Through the woods we ran Deep into the mountain sound

he wasn't sure what happened; a precise hold on the back of his neck followed by taar's voice and he was out. he woke up not long after, head light and still confused at the entire situation. a chansey was next to him alongside two medics, who he quickly brushed off. "i'm fine." and with that the medics left him alone. he sat back up in his chair, leaning, not bothering to stand back up, not after what happened.[break][break]
he awoke in time to hear most of athena's speech, even the little part about himself. spunk was the word she used. to that he could only give her a polite nod, crossing his arms as he listened to the choices. isabelle, jason, adrian. he wasn't sure why the man's name is even there but he knew that the other two were capable, even if he wouldn't admit it.[break][break]
he's worked with both of them before; isabelle at floaroma and adrian at jubilife. he was also there at the battle cup, watching the final rounds and ultimately watching them crown a victor. isabelle is strong both physically and mentally, how she handled the situation that day proved it. adrian is also strong, her win at the battle cup proved that. but isabelle wasn't a leader, the only thing she didn't do on that day was lead him, no matter how stupid he might have been. adrian on the other hand did her best, going out of her way to prove a point to him, to make him improve in a way. and that was a mark of a good leader.[break][break]
"pick adrian."[break][break]
he slouched off of his seat, rubbing the back of his neck as he stood back up. eyes would look over to adrian, flashing her a smile before shifting to athena. "she's a good leader, take it from someone who hates orders."
[attr="class","mapstempgen2"] THE NEXT COMMISSIONER!
[attr="class","mapstempgen3"]WILL IT BE YOU?
[break][break] With the candidates finalized, it seemed people had little to argue about, the criticism the audience had to offer dwindling down by several folds after the earful Athena had to offer. All three candidates had their say and two of them had a supporter each; Lily Seo and the now revived Rory Mclain. Whatever be their reasons, be it personal or a genuine, Athena would nod and accept them seeing as no one else had any objections about it. [break][break] It was now a tie between the two women and one which the commissioner so hoped to avoid. Athena would cough into her palmed fist and clear her throat as she'd finally speak again. "It seems neither of you object to either Isabelle Night or Adrian Mastry," And even if they did, the time to debate and argue had passed. "I will break the tie." Eyes lowered to the two woman. Both were exceptional candidates and as rangers had proven themselves on multiple occasions. Alas one had a slight edge over the other, so much that selecting of the two was now painful. [break][break] "The next commissioner of the Sinnoh region is..."[break][break] A hand would extend out to the audience. A pause as suspense built amongst the rangers.[break][break] "Adrien Mastry, Please join me on the stage." [break][break] and nothing would change her mind. [break][break][BREAK]
ADRIAN MASTRY IS THE NEW RANGER COMMISSIONER. ONE MORE (OPTIONAL) ROUND OF POSTING WILL BE ALLOWED BEFORE THE EVENT IS CLOSED IN 2 DAYS TIME.
