major news alert!
witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.

As her pokeball clicked with a confirmed catch noise, the female ranger released a brief breath. Luckily the other people who had been contesting her for the Pinsir were not prepared for the follow up. The pokeball the now contained the Pinsir was then delivered to Adrian via Absol. “Thanks,” she would say as she pet the dark type’s head after claiming the pokeball from him. At the same time, she was watching the other trainers around her catching their own targets. They were all nothing of interest to her. A Metapod that she had overlooked previously being claimed by some male and a Karrablast getting caught by… was that Lily?
Decidedly trying to avoid the girl the ginger haired woman moved on. While she was not interested in the pokemon the others had caught, she was interested in the maximizing her time here. While she was here she might as well catch some more… which lead to the Parasect that came up next. The spore creating pokemon was large and thus difficult to miss even in the tall grass. “You know what to do,” Adrian said simply as Absol walked forward. Once again another Psycho Cut was executed and the ranger ended up lobbing another pokeball at the creature.

The Skorupi has been successfully captured, and with a poison pokemon in her hands, Cass has no reason to keep fighting. She keeps her Ariados beside her, carefully keeping herself out of the fight as each of the other trainers go for the other pokemon.
It's then that a Scolipede comes out, a pattern unlike any she's seen before. For such a normally dull pokemon, Cass feels a certain pull to this one. It will prove to be strong for sure.
This time is not as urgent -- the other woman is nowhere to be seen, thankfully, and Cass is sure to be the one that's spotted it first. It's technically dibs. She beckons to her Ariados, a finger pointing to the other pokemon.
"Capture."
She says. Her Araidos is already moving, using another PSYCHIC to hit the pokemon before Cass throws another pokeball in its direction.
there were too many people in the area. for some reason pokemon were showing up now and the other contestants were taking advantage of it. she had spotted another oddly colored pokemon but had left it be after a girl went forward and started to capture it. she didn't care who won the competition but the more time she spent out here, the more she wanted to bring something back. sure the karrablast was cute but it wasn't amazing like what the others had captured before. the competition was starting to get intense.
a vespiquen suddenly appeared and lily quickly looked around to see if anyone was nearby. "use rollout and once it hits, turn around and go for it again." it was a fully evolved pokemon and she didn't want to waste anytime battling the thing. it would attract to much attention to her area and she didn't want to get into another throwing match with the others nearby. she hoped the attacks would be enough to take it down for the capture. the phanpy rolled into a ball once again and sped down the path to the vespiquen. lily waited for the attacks to hit before throwing the pokeball in hopes of capturing the bug.

She was late to the contest, super late. The place was packed with other trainers scrambling to catch a bug of their own. Charlotte had lost track of time, something she had been doing more and more lately, and she wanted to kick herself for entering the contest when it was nearly over. She doubted she'd catch anything of value, but she hoped maybe luck would be on her side today, since time wasn't. She arrived to a girl and her Phanpy attempting to catch a Vespiquen. The blonde could have tried catching it as well, but she decided it was just best to wait and see if another pokemon would appear. After all she probably had only one chance so it was best to wait for something worthwhile right?
So she takes a seat on a fallen tree, violet eyes calm as she watches the others around her, waiting for her chance. While she's waiting the girl releases Ebony, her Houndour, and the pup sits down near her feet, eyes focused and ready to alert her to any bugs. "Stay focused," she says softly as she scruffs her ears, hands idly ruffling through her dark fur. She would wait, and she would be ready.

She isn't sitting for long when Ebony's ears perk up in high alert, her eyes trained on a patch of grass not far from them. "What is something there?" Charlotte says as she stands and the Houndour's urgent bark is enough to tell her yes. So she runs quickly over to said patch of grass, peering around and then proceeds to fall on her ass when a large Volcarona flies out and nearly runs right into her. "Ouch," she says getting up and rubbing her bottom, wincing slightly but spinning around to find the culprit. She realizes this isn't just any normal Volcarona, the coloring is different, and she assumes this means its shiny, she knows she had heard the term before but had never seen one with her own eyes. Perhaps coming late had paid off, she needed to catch this and now before the others noticed. She would fight for it if she needed to.
"Ebony stay," she says briskly, grabbing another ball off of her waist and releasing her Floatzel. "Whirlpool and then Scald!" Lexa nods, sending out her first attack which instantly traps the bug. A scald hits it soon after, sizzling with a pop as it drenches the wild pokemon. The thing screeches, turning and sending an ember out in retaliation. It hits the water-type, doing minimal damage which she shakes off easily. "Scald again!" The next one misses, the bug ready for it this time as it uses another ember. Lexa dodges as well, sending out a third scald which hits spot on. The Volcarona looks weak enough, and not wanting to risk fainting it Charlotte grabs one of the balls supplied and tosses it at it, fingers crossed and holding her breath with anticipation.

Among the grassy plains and the the sprinkle of trees that littered the area, it was a surprise that Adrian managed to get lost in it all. With all the people around one would figure that there was no way to deviate too far from the path... though perhaps that contributed to it all. That said, the sienna haired woman sighed as she glared at the surrounding area trying to find her way. Absol by her side remained silent as only the sounds of grass crunching below and around them would fill the air.
That was when they saw it.
Specks of what looked to be fire caught the attention of both ranger and the disaster pokemon. It was likely due to the fact they were trained to keep an eye out for the hints of forest fires. Upon closer inspection however there was something there that couldn't have made this venture any more fruitful. In fact Adrian was so stunned by the sight of the oddly colored fire bug that she did not notice the electric spider that was crawling around as well. Of course like anyone else might have been, Adrian was determined to catch it. Absol probably could have handled this but she wanted more swiftness so she could get it first. "Tentacool come out and use Bubblebeam then wring out so it doesn't escape," Adrian demanded of the water type. The Tentacool gave a bit of a cry before executing without much hesitation. The bubbles gushed forward at the Volcarona as the tentacles followed after to weaken the pokemon.
Finally, despite the other that was trying as well, Adrian took out another empty ball and threw it at the Volcarna with the hope of being able to win out and capture it. It would make the adventure out here worthwhile.

the pokeball clicking was music to her ears. lily let out a loud cheer at the sound of it and quickly ran over to grab it. she had been expecting someone to come in and stop her but she was glad that they didn't. either way, she was happy with what she got. two pokemon down and who knows how many more to go. pancake let out a loud cheer at the captured pokemon and hopped around lily with enthusiasm. it had made its trainer proud and now it was probably going to get treats later.
lily packed the pokeball in her bag and moved on. she heard some commotion coming from nearby and looked around to see where the noise was coming from. it was another oddly colored pokemon with two trainers nearby attacking it. she wanted it bad but she was not about to fight hem over it. she remembers what happened last time and she did not want to go through a repeat.
lily gave one last glance at them before taking off down the path again. once again came the familiar rustling of the branches but this time from the trees. on a trunk was a spider that made lily scream. "what the hell is that?" she recognized it from somewhere but couldn't think of the name for the life of her. she wanted to fight it. "use take down to knock it off followed by slam to crush it to the ground." the phanpy rolled over to do the attacks and lily made sure they hit before throwing the pokeball.

[attr="class","landfill-scroll"]Augustus rose from the bushes only to spot a new bug, that was under attack by two trainers, he needed to make sure he finally caught something that would make this entire trip worth it, and so he threw his Larvitar far forward landing it near the Volcorona. "Quick pal, use Rock Slide!" He commanded hitting the bug type spot on with the super effective rock type attack.
The goal here was to actually block off any Pokeballs sent towards the Volcorona and damage it, but if that was enough Augustus would do more, for he desperately needed to get something from this contest or else he'd have wasted an entire day doing jack shit chasing bugs, only to get a green taco shell, and that was certainly not going to happen. "Once more! Rock Slide!" He commanded as huge rocks littered the area surrounding Volcorona, trying to prevent anyone else from catching it.
His final chance was to knock it away from any trainers, he quickly picked up his Larvitar and once again threw it at the Volcorona. "Giga Impact!" He shouted as the Rock type rocketed towards the bug knocking it into a bush. Augustus then quickly pitched a Pokeball to the Volcorona in attempt to catch it.

He shouted as his Larvitar slowly regained it energy just to use bite down on the big, it was almost strange how his little Larvitar was beating up the large Volcorona. He didn't comment on it, there was work to be done and Pokemon to caught, even if they weren't exactly the kind f Pokemon he wanted to catch.
He had to a get moving quickly otherwise some of the other two would catch it. His Larvitar was roaring to go, as it launched more stones into the Pokemon, luckily they were 4x effective on the bug type, weakening of greatly. Augustus would prepare another Pokeball and looked towards his Larvitar with a nod, they planned on finish this soon.
His Larvitar raced over to him as the Volcorona attempted to recover from the previous attacks. Augustus grabbed the little baby and then proceeded to throw him up into the air. Larvitar would come crashing down using Giga Impact right on top of the Volcorona pinning it in place. "Now is my chance." Augustus said as he quickly grabbed a Pokeball that was given to him for the event and threw it directly at the Volcorona.

Charlotte hissed in annoyance, she hadn't been quick enough and now two other trainers were attemping to steal her bug, but she wasn't going to give up without a fight. Maybe it was time to play a little dirty, after all she wasn't leaving here without anything to show for it. She glances behind her to her waiting and alert Houndour. "Ebony use Smog, block their vision!" She shouts, and the dog barks with a nod, running forward and spewing out the poisonous fog in an attempt to make it harder to catch for the others. It would damage the Volcarona as well which was a plus either way. It would also make it harder for her to catch as well, but at least this would give them all equal chance, she just hoped she'd have more luck.
With all the onslaught of attacks she knew the fire bug was close to going down, and she wasn't going to let it escape. "Send another whirlpool it's way!" She now orders her Floatzel, and in the next moment Lexa is sending the whirlpool straight into the dark hazy mist of the smog. Hopefully this would trap the Volcarona inside. Now with nothing more to do but try to catch again Charlotte takes another ball, eyes narrowing as she remembers exactly where the bug had been before vision was lost. It might have been cheesy but she plants a kiss on the ball for luck before sending it in an arching throw and awaiting the results.
Houndour uses Smog to block vision for everyone! Floatzel uses Whirlpool to trap Volcarona! • Attempting capture of Volcarona again!

if you seek peace, prepare for war
[attr="class","detective"]julius finally made his late entrance, impressed at how crazy the forest clearing had already become. he sees a shiny volcarona and navigates towards it-- he doesn't have any particular use for it, but it's sure to fetch a crazy price with that unusual coloring. just then, he sees augustus. the green dude from the library. so he's a trainer, too?
"heya! long time no see," he shouts, in a loud, almost obnoxious voice. as soon as he has even a fraction of augustus's attention, he tosses out a pokeball, heidi coming forth in all her arrogant glory. she immediately launches a a vinewhip, long snake like structures bursting out of the ground, one to clear away the rock and rubble, one to attempt to swat away at the larvitar, and the other to swat at augustus's pokeball.
the serperior would then give augustus a glare, causing julius to wince. "now, now..."
heidi ignored his trainer, however, and uses a wrap against the volcarona, attempting to tangle it in the messing length of its leafy, snake-like body. the volcarona hisses and roars, struggling and using an ember at heidi, point-blank. the attack leaves the serperior reeling, but its haughty display from early cannot all be for naught. it uses a giga drain, able to do so considering the volcarona is trapped, and regains a meager amount of its health.
smog-- shit. another trainer? julius can't keep track.
"drag it out of there!"
heidi makes another loud hiss as the poison fills the clearing, julius is coughing now due to his proximity. the serperior, catching onto the word whirpool, and acting on its own accord, uses a leaftornado in the general direction of the floatzel, probably missing due to sheer lack of vision, but a hissing threat nevertheless.
the volcarona is tossed out of the wrap carelessly, showing yet again the unruly character of the serperior that's now made an enemy out of everyone in the field. julius sighs and tosses a pokeball.
he'd prefer fido if there was any water nearby, but hatchiko works just as well. the arcanine, as tall as its owner and intimidating to boot, jumps out of its pokeball in a frenzy and attacks the bug type with a crunch. with hatchiko's teeth still sunk into the volcarona, julius tosses a pokeball.

How dare they.
As Adrian watched the fight for Volcarona unfold, her lips pursed into a thin line. "Damn," she hissed at first when her pokeball was intercepted. Then she squinted hard as the other attacks flooded the field. It wasn't enough that they were all equally trying for the Volcarona. Sure, it was annoying but that was fine they all had their right. Now one of the other trainers were trying to sabotage her and the other by attacking them. Not only did it cause more trouble, it looked to attract more attention from other participants. As the black smog rose up, Absol acted immediately with a psycho cut that pierced the poisonous haze to give line of sight between Adrian and the flaming bug. It was helpful to be able to see the target but still exasperating.
That said Adrian felt no need to attack it further and punish it for simply existing. Everyone else was already beating down on it with super effective moves or constricting attacks to the point that the ranger found it surprising the pokemon was able to stay conscious, let alone fly. Sabotaging the other people trying to get the pokemon as well was an option to raise her own chances as well... it would have been easy but Adrian did not want to play dirty. The ranger had standards she wanted to uphold. “Good job Absol. Standby in case they try something again.” The dark type nodded sagely as their gaze was cast to the attacks berating the pokemon. Waiting until a proper moment when all the others were between attacks and were distracted with each other, the woman would throw another event pokeball at the Volcarona. Even though whirlpool was in effect, there was some stray thoughts that hopefully the fire type would not simply up and fly off due to all the attention and activity around it.
the bug was captured and just as lily attempted to go pick it up, she saw the distinct look of smoke coming from the area she just left. she almost panicked at the thought of a fire starting up in the town and was about to head over there when she heard shouting; more so the shouts of a battle taking place. it made her immediately stop in her tracks once she realized what was going on. she could hear more voices coming from the area she saw the volcarona and could only imagine the shitfest that was happening right now. she almost felt bad for the poor thing...
lily reached down to take her pokeball before once again moving away from the area that the trainers were at. while she had avoided them before, now she was really pushing to get away from it. it almost looked like they were trying to kill the bug... she hoped that wasn't the case.
it wasn't long before she came across a dwebble lounging a little away from the path. it didn't seem to mind all the noise or poisonous smoke in the area. it was her chance continue capturing and hopefully go home with a decent prize even if she didn't place. "you know the drill by now." it was slowly becoming repetitive at this point. the phanpy knew what to do and curled into a ball to go at the dwebble. lily threw the pokeball again and waited to see what would happen.
