witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
[attr="class","jarcainereply1"] Caine wasn't sure why he was here.[break][break] One of the galactic superiors had mentioned to him off-handedly that there was a Haunted House attraction and that they'd wanted to go - with him. Caine, slightly intrigued, had agreed. He wasn't one for scary situations, but perhaps this would be an opportunity to have some fun rather than be immersed in work.[break][break] The galactic had never appeared.[break][break] Caine sighed, knowing he'd been tricked. Probably just so they could make fun of the new recruit. Oh, how he hated people like that. But he was now here, with no purpose. Somewhat befuddled, he ambled around the outside, unsure whether he should simply enter or not. He heard whispers from the crowd of how several people never reappeared, of others found asleep within the house's confines. It perked his curiosity and his mind whirled with questions as his sea-green eyes glanced over at the rickety structure. [break][break] "Argh, fine!" Caine said, taking a step over the threshold. He didn't like jumpscares and frankly, the idea of the haunted house was frightening, but he was curious and he wanted to investigate.

CINDERELLA WHO LOST BOTH HER SHOES
'Lets go into the haunted house!' They said.
'Nothing bad will happen!' They said.
'It'll be fun!' They said.
And the idiots who thought such a thing hadn't come out for a while now. Did they ditch her? God pray that they didn't ditch her. They ditched her, didn't they? Ugh..
Just a few days prior, she was speaking to a few of the friends she made in the pokemon center as they were talking about the Haunted house attraction in Jubilife. The little trio thought that it would be fun to pick on the air-headed, gullible girl while they went off and did whatever. Of course, it was to be expected. She was such an easy target, she was almost surprised that nothing particularly bad has happened to her as a result of her own ignorance. While she hadn't dressed up for Halloween.. She at least dressed in her usual casual wear. Much preferred to be warm and comfortable over freezing and revealing. What she didn't understand was how some people could withstand the chill of autumn. That, would always stay a mystery to her.
The trainer was pacing back and forth, dragging her feet along the pavement whilst contemplating whether or not she wanted to go in. She was already there, so why not give it a shot? It could be way worse.. But she was already terrified of ghost type pokemon. Ghost types had the tendency to.. Trick people. They loved scaring others, finding delight in another's suffering the majority of the time. Now, not to say that she hated them. Gods, she could never. She just.. Didn't do well with them. But now.. A haunted house? Pray to arceus that she won't collapse from a heart attack should a jump scare get to her. "Do.. I want to go in?" She was questioning herself, genuinely unsure as to whether or not it were a good idea for her mental state. Personally, she much preferred the comfort of her own home.
That's when her bright blue eyes witnessed another male standing at the entrance of the well-decorated establishment. Maybe.. If she went with someone, she wouldn't be so scared right? Yeah.. That had to work! Sure, he'd be a complete stranger.. I guess he didn't look like a bad person? Worst case scenario, she has Swablu and Scatterbug with her should anything happen. She'd be fine! Or.. So she thought. Unbeknownst to her, many people have disappeared upon entering such an attraction, but this rumour only added popularity as the bravest had started entering to investigate such claims. Even then.. She walked right up to it. A gentle voice perked up, in hopes that it would grab the man's attention.
"Excuse me?" Colette's voice chirped as her feet were picking up the pace to him, hoping that the volume would have caught his attention. "You wouldn't happen to be entering alone.. Would you?" From here, her tone appeared to lower. She became sheepish, meek even. "I'm sorry if this is.. An odd request. But could we urm.. Go together? I'm absolutely terrified of horror, and I think it would help if I went in with someone.." Her request sounded so selfish. In her perspective, someone might have seen it as annoying or bothersome as they just wanted to attend to the Haunted house. "O-Of course, you don't have to!" Her voice squeaked a bit, possibly from the anxiety that was welling up in her stomach. Gods.. She felt like an idiot right now.
In the face of Jubilife’s latest attraction, Johnny’s imagination is the white-knuckle sort. The rumors he’s heard so far exist on a spectrum from nonsensical to intriguing in the worst way. Hushed whispers of disappearance and deep sleep--comatose victims, really--find their way to his ears, but it’s the utterance of team rocket’s name that makes his hairs stand up. And that name, as always, compels his eyes to shut in remembrance of the worst moment in his life. When he decides to go to the haunted house, he isn’t sure whether he’s going to save people, or exercise some naive sense of vengeance. He clenches his fist. He’d rather not have to choose between the two.
And he’d rather not have to do this alone. Where’s a old friend when you need them?
No matter. Johnny’s already approaching destiny if what he’s heard is to be believed. And destiny, the many-headed beast it is, seems to have brought him and a new friend together once-more.
”Colette? Is that you?” If it was, she wasn’t alone from the looks of it, but she was the only familiar face (or familiar back-of-head, from where he was standing). He wondered if the two of them were there for thrills or chills.
when you lie i cover it up when you hide i cover it up when you cry i cover it up
Unlike Caine, who'd fallen into the freshman trap, Scarlette was hanging out at the haunted house for a totally different reason. No one had tricked her into going, she wasn't a fool. Rather, she figured that if so many people were going comatose when, or rather, if, they made it out of the haunted house, that had to mean stuff to steal. Possibly, anyways. Even if there wasn't, there were likely to be unsuspecting people who would be easy to scare and pickpocket.
Not only that, but the idea of a thrill, even in something as silly as a haunted house was pretty fascinating. People were going in and not coming out apparently! Of course, that could all just be heresy and lies to trick people into going to the haunted house. Maybe it was a total flop, and no one was coming so they had to entice them another way. Arceus, people were so gullible.
Except, she was probably the gullible one, as she had been pacing around the front door for a solid twenty minutes, just trying to figure whether or not it was worth it to go in. The front door seemed spooky enough, but not like someone had tried too hard. There was the faintest trickle of unease that made her shiver, but she felt embarrassment for that. She was a galactic, there was nothing she could be scared of. She'd made it through the worst obstacle course of her life, alive. She had proven that she wasn't a weakling.
Had she fallen for the same trap that Caine had? Even though she pretended she was here for a different reason?
Across the yard, she noticed a couple other people, including Caine. There appeared to be two other people with him, neither she recognized as another galactic recruit. They all appeared to be interested in heading into the haunted house, and on impulse, Scarlette decided to join up. "Is four a crowd? Or is it three? I never remember how it goes. If you guys are going into the haunted house, I'll come along too I guess." she said, trying to be disinterested and aloof. Her acting wasn't always the best though, so her attempts to be indifferent to the haunted house were likely not that great.
[attr="class","jarcainereply1"] Caine turned his head and noticed a girl beside him - no a woman, with a youthful face. She looked apprehensive as she gazed at the haunted house's doorway and asked to accompany him.[break][break] "Of course you can come along," he said kindly. Truth be told, he himself was nervous about what might lie within. To have a partner would be encouraging - even if they were more terrified than he was.[break][break] "What's your name?" he asked. "I'm Caine." He glanced over his shoulder when he heard someone approaching them with a questioning gaze. "Colette?" the ruby-haired man asked, and Caine had suddenly received his answer. It looked like the two knew each other from beforehand. Well, he supposed that was good. The girl wouldn't have to be nervous and with a stranger.[break][break] "Is four a crowd?"[break][break] Caine didn't notice that there was someone else beside him until he turned his head and nearly jumped. She'd snuck up on him easily, and it didn't feel good to be so jumpy before even entering the haunted house. Instead, he returned the question with a nervous laugh. "Yeah, you can join us," he said, scratching his chin.[break][break] Now they'd gathered a nice little party, he looked at the others before glancing back at the door. "Um...shall we?"

It was a lucky break that he was willing to let her accompany him. In fact, it almost prompted a soft sigh of relief outwards. "Oh thank goodness.. I'm really not good with horror." Her smile widened, using a rather meek and sweet tone of voice. She carefully listened to his introduction, effortlessly memorizing the name with a smile on her face. "Well.. It's nice to meet you, Caine!"
It was always nice to travel with someone, and it never hurt to travel in groups. "My name is--" "Colette? Is that you?"
Speaking of.. Almost as though right on cue, her ears picked up the smooth voice uttering her name. Familiar, and yet it needed to settle down more in her mind before she could go recognizing it. Other than that, she was able to identify people by voice right off the bat like the many others.
While initially anxious, Colette's smile only brightened at the approaching figure. Ah, it was Johnny! But what was he doing in Jubilife? Oh, was he planning to enter the haunted house as well? Hmm.. That would be fun. "Ah, Johnny! Fancy meeting you here~" She chimed, turning just slightly in her attempts to make eye contact. "I was just about to enter the Haunted house with Caine here, would you like to join us?" The woman cheerfully asked, only to catch herself and pick at her mistake. Oh gosh.. Would Caine mind? She just invited someone without his input! Her panicked thoughts suppressed themselves, as her bright sky eyes slowly turned towards him. "Er.. That's fine, right?" She surely hoped that it would be. She also hoped that Johnny wouldn't mind joining in to form a trio. Regardless as to what his answer was, Colette only retained her soft smile.
Out of the blue, yet another figure stepped forwards with the intention to join them all. This.. Was actually great! It'd certainly be much safer should they travel in a group, so Colette's reaction to the question was a joyous nod of the head. "Hooray~" The trainer chimed, gently clapping her hands together out of a pure habit she picked up from her mother. "Then it's settled, yes? Lets go~" Never in her life had she actually been excited to go into a haunted house. But before that.. She needed to know the name of this scarlet female. Thus, with the turn of her heel, she came to face the woman before her with a warm and welcoming smile. "My name is Colette, may I ask what yours is?"
He smiles, briefly forgetting the circumstance of things. Colette is an oddly comforting sight and Johnny’s heart eases at the idea of exploring the house with a group. ”Sure, let’s go.” He begins to wonder if he should recall the rumors he’s heard so far--let the two of them know what they might be getting into--before another person came along to join them all. ”I guess it’s the four of us then.”
Colette would save him the trouble, and take it upon herself to ask the redhead’s name. On the presumption that she answers, and that they’re all ready, he begins moving towards the haunted house’s door, and inquires as to whether his new teammates know anything about the place. ”You guys have heard the rumors about this place right?”
ooc: short post is short; I've got some personal work to do, didn't want to make you guys wait for me!
when you lie i cover it up when you hide i cover it up when you cry i cover it up
Everyone had said their greetings, nodding and smiling and looking way too happy to be exploring a haunted house that several people had not come out of. Scarlett just shrugged that tidbit of information to the back of her mind. No use ruining a good thing, right? Going in as a group was probably better than going in alone.
The young girl seemed especially excited to meet her, and Scarlett felt a little flustered. "My names Scarlett."
Her attention turned to her fellow redhead however as he became the bearer of bad news. He seemed pretty solemn about it and serious, which Scarlett wasn't really sure how to take. "The rumours are that people aren't making it out of this house. It sounds like its gonna be a good time."
After a couple moments of pause, Scarlett headed towards the front door of the house, a little impatient no one else was moving. She proceeded to knock on the creaky old door, and was welcomed by silence. "Helloooo, anyone home?" she asked. Turning back to face her new group, she smiled a little. "Shall we go in?"
[attr="class","jarcainereply1"] Actually, Caine had heard very little about the rumors, so the information that Johnny brought forth came as a surprise to the alabaster-haired male. The fact that it was further confirmed by Scarlette made Caine a little uneasy. Hey, he wanted to be able to leave after going through it. He didn't want to be stuck in there. Frankly, he recognized the red-haired woman and he shot her a small smile. He felt apologetic that he hadn't noticed her approach him from beforehand.[break][break] "Well we can use our pokemon to fight our way out if necessary," Caine said dubiously, peering at the door, trying to ascertain if they should really enter or not. "I suppose we should enter. Maybe we could try to figure out why such things are occurring."[break][break] Caine paused for a moment as he gripped stepped beside Scarlette. "I hope none of you are scared of ghosts," he said with a wry smile. He himself was not, but what he did dislike was jump scares. Even right now, he was feeling apprehensive as to what might lay inside.

CINDERELLA WHO LOST BOTH HER SHOES
Then it was settled! They would all be going into the haunted house together! Great! If she weren't so scared of horror, she'd actually be enjoying herself quite a bit more than she usually would. "It's nice to meet you, Scarlette!" It was a nice name, she liked it. With that established, the little group started their way into the spooky attraction.
However, what Colette didn't see coming was the question regarding some rumours... What rumours was he talking about? A puzzled look came onto her face, genuinely curious as to what he was talking about. "Rumours..? I haven't heard of them.." Surely, she couldn't be the only one who thought that. Her attention turned back over to Scarlette, the woman who took the liberty to explain the attraction in further detail. So people were disappearing huh? That.. Sounded pretty off putting. But Caine was right! They'd be fine, so long as they had their pokemon with them!
She couldn't let some rumour bring her spirits down! They were here to have fun, were they not? So long as they stuck together.. They'd be perfectly fine. Even if she told herself that, it didn't rid of the uneasy feeling stirring within the depths of her heart. Slowly, hesitantly, but surely, she approached the door with Scarlette having a weak smile plastered on her face. "Mhm.. Lets go!"
Johnny had to take a second and appreciate this bit of serendipity. He had originally come out of heavy-handed revenge against team rocket. And even then, he wasn’t sure if that was even what he’d be getting. Perhaps he would have simply ended up walking through a haunted house attraction all by himself during the holidays. But as luck would have it, he’d be grouped up with three other curious (if somewhat ignorant) souls, as if to ease the burden of anxiety on his shoulders. He wondered, however, how long he could continue to consider such a thing luck, the closer they stepped onto the premises.
The inside of the house is dark and somber. Fitting. And nothing’s immediately popped out of the shadows to devour their souls yet. Also a good sign. Perhaps Johnny was overthinking things? Maybe he could actually stand to just enjoy this particular bit of halloween fun. Just, maybe?

CINDERELLA WHO LOST BOTH HER SHOES
She couldn't remember what she was just doing.
She couldn't even recall where she just was. When she came to, she had arrived at some sort of meadow with the group. Ah, yes. They were all going to catch some pokemon, which is why they were here! Of course!
The skies were blue and clear - it honestly couldn't get any better. It was around the halloween season, and she decided that it would be best for her to just go travelling with her adorable little pokemon. It doesn't look like there would be any rain soon, but at the same time there wasn't any shelter. Good thing that the odds of a thunder storm in fall was pretty rare. They can catch their pokemon in peace.
Colette heard the rustling in the taller grass, peeking over and finding a little injured Pichu! Oh gosh, the poor thing. Looks as though it harmed it's foot, and the little guy was limping in pain! It pained her to see this, sooo what could she do? She marched right on over and pulled out a small first aid kit from her bag (Since she wanted to be a nurse and all) to begin treating it. "Poor thing.. Are you okay? How'd this happen?" She asked the mouse, who weakly set off sparks in it's cheek pouches. Quickly, the woman reached into her bag to rummage through her belongings. Her expression however, darkened finding that she completely forgot such a vital thing! "Guys! Do you happen to have any potions? I think I misplaced mine.."
[attr="class","jarcainereply1"] Caine blinked his turquoise eyes, squinting as bright light suddenly hits them from above. It's sunny, he remarked to himself, getting acquainted with his surroundings.[break][break] An open meadow. Filled with divine flowers and scents, the miniature garden-like pasture seemed heavenly. Caine frowned. How had he gotten here? He thought he'd been...[break][break] He couldn't remember. Why couldn't he remember?[break][break] "Guys..." he mumbled nervously. He surprised himself yet again. Who was he looking for? As his eyes settled on the people around him, his vision finally settled to be more solid. Blinking again, Caine looked at the dark-haired Colette, who immediately approached a Pichu. From what Caine could see, the small pokemon appeared injured, and it was sparking weakly and apprehensively. His brows rose. What had attacked the Pichu? A predator?[break][break] Colette asked if they had any potions. Caine was slightly reluctant to part with a valuable tool, but he supposed it would be fine to be generous this once. "Here," he said, handing the trainer a potion from his bag. The galactic spy glanced around them, assessing their surroundings again.[break][break] The breeze was blowing nicely, and he could feel he wind caressing his cheeks, but something felt odd. He searched for the answer and when he found it, his lips parted slightly in surprise.[break][break] Wind, but no sound.[break][break] Or rather, there was no rustling that came from the wind snatching at his jacket. The grass bent, but it didn't make the ssshhhhhh sound one expected. However, he'd heard the pichu rustling in the grass. Caine's brow furrowed. Just what was going on?
when you lie i cover it up when you hide i cover it up when you cry i cover it up
There was this feeling of falling, like she couldn't breathe or speak or think. Then nothing. Her eyes opened to see a very brightly lit and beautiful meadow. She could feel the grass beneath her feet, and she wondered briefly why she wasn't wearing any shoes. There seemed to be a ringing in her ears, but she felt.. empty.
How had she gotten here? Why did it feel funny to think about.. anything? Scarlette looked around, suddenly realizing that she felt lost. She had the urge to look for someone, but who? Why would she be looking for someone? Why was everything so still?
The voice of a young woman caught her attention, and as she turned her head to look, her hair swung in an almost slow-motion, dramatic way. Curious. The girl seemed familiar somehow, and she immediately felt the need to go and join her, like they had all been here together. All? As Scarlette looked, Caine was handing Colette a potion, the purple shine catching her eye. There was a rustling coming from the grass at Colette's feet, and before her stood a small injured Pichu.
Looking around, Scarlette saw no predators. It was so calm and peaceful, no sense of danger. Where had the Pichu even come from? Scarlette couldn't even recall why she was here, why she felt so at home here. Words evaded her, and she allowed her attention to drift off into the distance, trying to see past the meadow and the endless grass. Wasn't it curious that there was no wind? No sound that usually came with being outside? No birds, no singing, no insects. Just Colette speaking softly to a strange Pichu. Odd.
