witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
the night before running away was spent held up in a bar in snowpoint, hidden under layers of clothing and a hood as he sat there by himself, lonesome in a corner slowly sipping away his troubles. there was not much else he needed to do. he's done the most important thing and that's telling his family he was going to be okay, and for them not to worry about him. that was about it, really.
so much worries and so little solutions. he ignored them tonight as he finished off--what, his third drink? whatever number it was he was still fine, still functional, only slightly tipsy as he left the bar after spending a good hour there.
the city of snowpoint was good for hiding out, it was quiet, and more importantly it was dead during nighttime. with practically no nightlife it made traveling easier, which was very beneficial to him. with his hands in his pockets he trudged through the streets, snow not near thick enough to be a problem yet. dim lights would illuminate parts of the street, but it was nowhere near enough to level the lights of jubilife or veilstone.
[attr="class","monbody"]the ranger is on the pursuit of someone really specific. well, it was a someone based on a sketch that arrived by mail through a rather believable magazine subscription about gardening. she had scoffed to gerald’s sense of awareness on her life. since she’s been dealing with the man, that claims to be her ‘father’, an absurd amount of her time is given to track down his so called enemies… anyone that resembled a slight threat.[break] and thus, she came back to the city of cold, a scenario as dull as she was. the silver haired could merge into the encrustations of snow that covered the streets and get away with a peculiar invisibility cloak. the murky establishment she was directed to seemed more welcoming than the cold wind cutting through her flesh from centimeters to centimeters, ever so slowly. such a fortunate place to find a bandit.[break] the bitter taste’s originated from the forced mission. it was a long and weary process, it required for her to take a break from her service, the one that actually mattered and didn’t drain her for the wrong reasons. the duty she chose to fulfill didn’t resemble a thing to what she was obligated to do by an unwanted employer. she had an irritated look in which was eased by a few shots that warmed her core, far from intoxicated she’s simply back to a quiet and regretful posture.[break] as a slim figure, covered from head to toe, is caught by her eye sight, the vision echoes on her mind. took almost half an hour to get the confirmation whilst she walked all over the bar with a craved smile expelling loose flirts and compliments to whomever showed up in front of her. with each glimpse at the table already marked, it grew the anticipation. at the end of the day, it didn’t matter if she had opposed to anything gerald demanded, she would have to render her target with eyes crossed red.[break] patience payed off when she got him walking out into a deserted path of weak illumination. following the other with a light walk, she missed her heavier coat with dangled arms unable to fight off the cooling temperature due to the lack of coverage and need of extra quietness. in addition to that, the ambush plan required further motion of her upper body, for her skill set was based on surprises and quick jab on the back. he wouldn’t see her coming. [break][break]
notes:[break] whenever i narrate about gerald theres so much sarcastic lines idek why
eyes would stare ahead at the cold floor as he walked, every step making an audible crunch against the snowy rocks. hands were brought up to cup against his mouth and nose, soon breathing out, the warmth in his breath warmed up the tip of his nose, making the coldness more bearable. snow would fall ever so gracefully, tinting the cloth of his hood with slight wetness. every breath would release a puff of white cloud, a small feature that made him feel happy.
he wouldn't mind hiding out in snowpoint, which is what he might end up doing; it was peaceful, nice, quiet, and cold almost all year long. its polar opposite was jubilife, which was hot, crowded, and noisy. home would always have a special place in his heart but he knew he couldn't return. fleeing the region was always a possibility should things go that sour, but until then he still has things that kept him in sinnoh.
a step, a breath, a blink of the eye and he was kept awake. sleep had become scarce, barely hitting three hours on average. there were a multitude of reasons that kept him up; the fear of getting caught, scars, past memories, all of it accumulated up and contributed to clouding his judgement, but not his senses-- faint steps can be heard trailing him, almost stalking him.
a decision had to be made; fight or flight. there was a possibility that it was just a random passerby, just going about on their daily lives looking for no trouble. the other possibility frightened him, that it might have been ghosts from his past that have finally come back to haunt him. the latter was enough.
his movements were quick; a turn of the body as a hand retrieved a single pokeball, a flash of white soon illuminated the streets and also the stranger for a brief moment. a rhyperior emerged from the small capsule, causing an audible thud as it landed on the ground that shook a bit. he didn't recognize the girl so there was always a chance that this was all just a mistake, a misunderstanding. but he kept his concerns at the back of his mind for now as he addressed her.
[attr="class","monbody"]she was a stoic shadow for she could not complain out loud or to herself, doing that would mean admitting to a greater weakness: she was too tired of fighting off a bad wolf. he was an old man whom frequently used of influence and blackmail to pursue individuals to do his bidding. it was exactly what happened to her and in a much more young age than his usual targets. she strived only a profitable mission and nothing more.[break] criminals were careless, eventually they slipped up and she worked in a food chain of an entire community focused on that matter. a pass in false and they’d be eaten alive. except… she’s not hungry at all. she’d usually have someone push it down her throat. she wouldn’t fight that much for it was the way she found to keep her beloved father away from people she actually cared about. a game for him, an entire lifetime for her.[break] everything was quiet but his steps and several gulfs of the sharpened wind. when she was about to get close, her turned with a flash. she forced her lids to stay open and don’t give in to the sudden burst of light. it didn’t matter, because when she endured the glow, a gigantic brownish pokemon would appear to cause her to back away in an instinctive response. it was the start of failure. she didn’t move weightless with snow crowding her feet and thus she had been discovered, the design of her frame now craved on his mind. she put on her ranger look. no need for him to know about her different interests. maybe it wouldn’t turn into a fiasco.[break] “wai-” eyes widen and hand’s hung in the air with palms forward. she’s civilian scared. time to recognize him. “you…” she mutters but she’s sure her can read the motion of her lips and the expressed realization with her arms backing down. “don’t move! you don’t want to add more charges to your record.” stupidest line. ever. she had no plan whatsoever.[break] there was another sound she didn’t catch along with the earth’s quake. maybe he’d drawn two out of their respective pokeballs, but all she could get was the intimidating rhyperior siding the target until a familiar cry was heard. “pan!” she cursed in her thoughts, honest fright clouding her face. “cham!” hale set herself before her owner, its stature being entirely obscured by the other of her kind. taar’s stomach twirled, she knew what the other was capable of and had just initiated a confrontation confirming that she knew of his crimes and acted out like a true policewoman. hand would reach for the violated pokeball and try bringing her back. the small panda turned to her with a wicked smile, refusing to enter its container. a promise of protection…
