major news alert!
witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
Adler hadn’t been part of Team Galactic for long at all, and this was technically his first mission with the organization. Sure he had done small things to help them out here and there, but it seemed as if they trusted him enough now to send him out to do some real work. They seemed to have picked up on his sheer brutality, as they tasked him and someone else with retrieving rather important information. He was given the clear to use any means necessary, and he fully planned with taking advantage of that. While he wasn’t the most thrilled with being teamed up with another guy, he figured he could stomach it for now. As long as they weren’t completely incompetent, he figured they’d be fine.
For now, the purple haired man waited at a hole in the wall of a corner bar, where he had been told to meet his teammate. It was less conspicuous than more places this late at night, which he certainly appreciated. Adler always had preferred treading carefully, after all. Sitting at the bar counter, his long locks reached a little past the stool he was seated on, drawn back and tied elegantly as usual. His piercing blue eyes scanned the other patrons carefully, as he knew little of who he was going to be meeting with. He had a basic physical description, at least, so he’d be able to identify the man.
“Another soda,” he muttered to the barkeep, figuring he’d look strange if he wasn’t drinking anything at all. Yet he avoided anything with an alcohol content- especially since he was about to work a job. He would be clear minded for it, that much he’d make certain of.

Okay, so Parker was a little late. It really wasn't his fault, he had a bit of business to take care of before he could attend the mission. Someone had decided to pull a knife on him again, and got practically gutted in response. As if Parker didn't know his way around knives and a good bat. Speaking of bats, he left his outside the bar next to the bouncer with a critical look, and walked inside.
When he saw him, he froze in his spot.
It couldn't be, that was so long ago and with all the regions in the world, what were the chances? Parker's frown deepened as his heart throbbed painfully, a lump forming in his throat as he sucked in a sudden sharp breath. Crushes and old flames aside, he had a job to do. He approached slowly, blood rushing in his ears, and took a seat next to Adler.
Memories came to him unbidden, of soft sheets and sweaty bodies, wandering hands and long purple hair like a curtain. He swallowed again, glancing to his side and sizing Adler up.
While the description had matched his past lover, Adler hadn’t put two and two together. There were a lot of brunette males with glasses running around. When he glanced over his shoulder to scan the bar again, one of his brows raised ever so slightly when he spotted a familiar face. It was the closest expression to surprise that he’d give.
“You’re still alive, huh?” The purple haired man observed dryly as Parker took a seat next to him, his light blue eyes blatantly looking over the other. This seemed highly unlikely, but he wasn’t going to complain. At least one of his main worries about incompetence was no longer an issue… For the most part. Parker wasn’t perfect, but he got the job done.
Shifting his weight a little to get more comfortable, he sat partially sideways in his stool facing towards the younger man, leaning onto the countertop with an elbow. “I figured you would have got yourself killed by now,” he admitted honestly, as blunt as he had always been. “How much do you know about this mission, anyway? They gave me his name and where we can find him.”
Just like that he was focusing on work, not bothering to do any sort of catch up. He wasn’t really even curious of what Parker had been up to these last few years, and he wasn’t going to pretend he was.

Christ. Okay so Adler clearly wasn't any different from the last time he saw him. He held conflicting emotions about that suddenly, half relieved he hadn't changed and half disappointed he wasn't at least a bit warmer. He puffed out a short dry laugh, shaking his head.
"Nah dude, still alive. Galactic kind of helped, but the old crew might be on my ass now to be honest. I killed Treyco and Ray. Well, maybe not me perse but I had a hand in their deaths."
He sighed and leaned back for a moment, signaling the bartender down for a coke and thinking back to the mission. He was rather happy that there were no real questions, getting sappy and sentimental now would only make things a lot worse. It wasn't good to till harbor this stupid crush but he couldn't help it, it just stuck with him.
"We're to get info out of him at all costs. You ever hear the name Vandam? Small time crime boss in the area? It's one of his men, he's got information about rats in Galactic."
“That so?” Adler didn’t seem bothered by the news that the other was involved with Treyco’s and Ray’s deaths, not even blinking when he heard it. Out of everyone in their old crew, he had been closest to Parker… Which, considering how distant he always was, didn’t really seem to be saying a whole lot.
Nodding as Parker went on about additional mission details, he was glad to hear that they were on the same page. Good. “We can find him guarding one of their warehouses, where there’ll be minimal security. I staked it out last night, no more than three guys on a rotating shift at a time. He should be there in about half an hour. We should do a typical grab and bag. Take out the other guards, take him somewhere for the questioning where we won’t be interrupted. In the industrial area, I’ve already found an abandoned warehouse where no one will be close enough to hear him,” Adler laid out his plan evenly, as if he was talking about the goddamn weather. As usual, he was very thorough and did his homework.
“If you got another idea, lay it on me,” he added on, open to hearing other plans even though he was confident in his own. It was part of his careful nature, always wanting to go with the best plan, even if it wasn’t his own. “I got us an unmarked van and silenced pistols. We can get to him quick.”

Parker sighed a bit, noting that Adler again didn't seem to care. Then again he wasn't as close to the rest of the crew as Parker had been, Adler was always rather distant. He tried not to think about the sound of panting in his ear and the more vulnerable moments they shared. He wouldn't bother trying to connect to Adler, he wouldn't care.
"Can we burn down the warehouse like we used to do after? The plan sounds good, but maybe we should check out what's in the warehouse after too. Steal some shit for the group, we might get extra credit for it. Especially if it's ammo or something, not that people in this fucking region use anything but pokemon to fight. Whatever happened to old fashioned fighting?"
He shook his head and sighed, getting up. He was ready to go, feeling his hands shake with anticipation. He bobbed his head and sighed at the thought of using pistols. While guns could be fun he was more a fan of his bat, his hands itching to wrap around the wood. He knew he'd be able to use it soon though, and that got him going.
He exited the building, legs jittery with adrenaline. He grabbed his bat and nodded at the bouncer, waiting a distance away for Adler.
Even though Parker’s disappointment in his lack of interest was obvious, Adler didn’t even comment on it. This wasn’t the time to spend talking about the past, they had a job to do… Not that he’d be interested in discussing their old crew, regardless. Never had he been one for dwelling on the past.
“It’s not necessary, and it’ll draw unwanted attention. If you want to stay behind and torch it, feel free, but I won’t be with you. As for checking the warehouse, I didn’t get a chance to look inside. There might be more men, for all I know. It’d be safest to just grab the guy we need and get out of there,” Adler mused aloud, not seeming to be too fond of checking out the warehouse. He never did like things he didn’t know, especially when he was on a job. He didn’t shoot it down entirely, though, thinking it was possible if they were careful.
“I suppose we’ll just have to remind them, what it’s like,” Adler commented as he followed Parker outside, again not mentioning the sigh. Whatever was bothering the other man was no concern of his, unless it began interrupting their mission. “You still use those things?” He almost sounded amused when he spotted the bat, recalling the sort of damage that Parker could do with the simply weapon. It would come in handy, soon enough.
Leading the way to the van he had mentioned, he unlocked it before climbing into the driver’s seat, careful to make sure his hair was fully inside so it wouldn’t get caught in the door. He had learned that lesson the hard way. Soon as Parker was in he started the engine up and got on the road, knowing exactly where to go. “It’ll be fastest if I shoot down the two we don’t need, and you can use that ancient weapon of yours to knock out our guy,” he mused aloud, quick to find an efficient way to incorporate the bat into his plan. “There might be some pokemon hanging around, too, we’ll have to be careful,” he added on as they pulled up just around the corner from the warehouse there target was in, out of sight so they wouldn’t be spotted until they wanted to be seen.

He really hated to admit it but Adler was right, about just about everything. He really didn't want to admit it, because everything that came out of his mouth seemed to just be about the past. About things they used to do. It was really starting to get to Parker but he sucked in a deep breath and forced those emotions down. He could take out his anger on the guy they were nabbing later.
However, he couldn't help but proudly grin as he took an experimental swing of his bat, listening to the air whoosh by him.
"Course I do. It's my signature isn't it? I still crack heads just like I used to Addie. Don't worry about that."
He felt a little proud making Adler show even a little emotion. He followed after Adler, not so subtly checking him out. He still looked amazing after all these years. Climbing in the van he grinned suddenly, remembering something that he remembered only he was allowed to do.
The stoic man blinked when he was called Addie, not having heard that nickname in years. His hand twitched softly, recalling the last time he had heard it. Between the sheets, a warm body beneath him, and that name had hardly been a whisper. Quickly he pushed the memory out of his mind, taking a carefully measured breath to calm down. He didn’t do more than hum quietly to indicate he heard the other, not daring any more at the moment since he didn’t want to show any other signs of recognition. It was common for him to get even more quiet and withdrawn, when he felt like he was on the verge of letting himself feel something.
It didn’t help at all that he could tell Parker was checking him out, having to quickly suppress the desires he felt building to keep his head clear. “Let’s,” he repeated with a little nod, rather than reacting rather violently like he usually did when others called him pretty. Even after all these years, he was still accustomed to hearing it in this man’s voice. Sure, at first he hadn’t been so accepting, but over time the brunette had earned the privilege of calling him such a thing.
“By the time we get there, the shifts should have just taken place. He’ll be there,” Adler purposefully spoke about work again to refocus, his electric blue eyes remaining strictly on the road before him. “Let me go in first, and then you come in swinging right after me, once the other two are down,” he filled in further details about his plan as they neared their destination, which didn’t take long at all. Soon as he parked out of sight, he climbed out of the car and retrieved his pistol, quickly checking it over to make sure it was loaded and the silencer was attached properly. Sure, they could leave the other two guards alive, but it’d be an unnecessary risk, as far as he was concerned. “You ready, Parker?”

Parker was used to watching Addie carefully, like very carefully. So he saw the twitch of his hand and was satisfied by anything and everything to do with it honestly. He knew that something had finally breached that exterior of his and he sighed softly. He wanted that intimacy back and wondered if they could have a quickie after they dealt with this. A good way to reminisce about the old days anyway. Parker was pretty sure Adler would be up for it, he'd never denied Parker before and if he hadn't changed in so many other ways, why would this be any different?
With that thought in mind he focused his attention back to Addie, nodding at the plan. He ran his fingers over the wood of his bat, scooting up in his seat to see more clearly out the window. He climbed out when they stopped and took a few practice swings, noting the distinct red color that had seeped into the wood. He'd need a new bat soon that was for sure. Too much blood clogging up a solid wood bat was just asking for attention.
"Ready Addie. Let's go."
Parker would wait for Addie to move first, taking out the two guards before running forward and catching their target by surprise. He grinned and whispered a soft "bye fucker." before swinging at the guy's head and watching him drop like a rock. His head was bleeding when he picked him up and tossed him over his shoulder, but he was only out cold. Luckily Parker had learned to control his strength a long time ago.
There were a few pokemon that were alerted to the noise, coming out of the woodwork. Parker sent out Pudding, his Granbull, and Cracker, his Growlithe, to deal with the problems. They were efficient, experienced, and got the job done quickly. Both had powerful jaws and easily killed the other pokemon, something Parker may have found a bit disturbing at one point had he been paying attention.
Patiently Adler waited as Parker tried a couple practice swings, having no qualms with waiting for a little warm up. If it helped his partner get in the right frame of mind, he didn’t mind the few seconds it took. He merely nodded when the man claimed to be ready, simply rolling his shoulders to loosen up before he brought up his pistol.
Two shots, two kills. Both guards had clean bullet wounds in the sides of their heads, the pistol a low enough caliber that with the silencer, they didn’t have enough momentum to break out the other side of the skull. The effect was as devastating as he counted on it being, the bullet bouncing around in brain matter and killing each man almost instantly. He trusted Parker to do his job, but he still watched carefully to make sure the target was out.
The older man had just turned the barrel towards the approaching pokemon when Parker’s own team was brought forth and quickly dispatched the threat. Impressive, they were well trained. It wasn’t too easy, finding pokemon that could be trained to kill others of their kind. He didn’t bother bringing out his own, thinking the little thing was useless as it was at the moment.
Making his way back to the van as Parker carried the unconscious man, he was quick to slide open the back door for the other, before climbing back up into the front seat. Once Parker was back in, he was quick to get out of there before reinforcements arrived. “It’s not far,” he muttered, almost constantly checking the mirrors to make sure they wouldn’t be followed. He chose the location very carefully, making sure that no one would be within hearing distance and it wasn’t too far to risk their guy waking up.
“I’ve got a chair bolted to the floor in the basement,” he explained as he pulled into the warehouse, having cleared out enough room for him to park earlier. Once he stopped and turned off the van, he went back and closed the warehouse door, just to make sure no one could see the vehicle easily from the outside. As usual, it was obvious he planned far in advance. “Need help getting him down there?”

Jumping in the van Parker was pretty pumped up on adrenaline. Pudding and Cracker jumped in the back with the poor victim in this situation, and Parker sat forward in his seat. He was excited, and it clearly showed on his face. He didn't get to do these types of missions as often as he'd like, most of what they were wanting was muscle from him but lately it seemed to be amped up to interrogation, maybe because of the way he was steadily climbing the ranks.
As they pulled into the warehouse Parker practically jumped out while the car was still moving, running to the back and grabbing the guy.
"Nah I got this Addie. Don't worry I'm good."
He'd gotten decently stronger than the last time Addie saw him, and it showed. Before he'd struggled to lift a grown man, or a man even half his size. But with time and plenty of opportunity, he had enough muscle now to be considered impressive. Cracker and Pudding scampered out and followed at Parker's feet as he calmly walked down the stairs. He flopped the captive into the bolted chair and used nearby handcuffs to cuff him to the chair, and stood back to admire his handiwork.
Unfortunately he didn't have much time to gloat as the guy started to wake up, and immediately started yelling at them.
“You’ve been working out,” Adler stated simply, and he took a moment to let his gaze wander over the muscles that hadn’t really been there when they last met. Quickly he refocused, finding Parker far more distracting that he’d ever admit. Following Parker and the pokemon downstairs, he merely stood back and observed as their mark was secured in place.
Soon the yelling started, and his expression didn’t change at all as he moved forwards, delivering a swift and harsh backhand across the man’s cheek to get his attention. “Listen. We know you’re aware of some rats in Galactic, and you’re going to tell us who they are,” he sounded so goddamn sure of himself, bending over slightly to look their captive in the eye. In response, the man proceeded to spit on his face. Adler didn’t even flinch as the warm substance hit his cheek, bringing a steady hand up to wipe the saliva away slowly, like he wasn’t in any rush.
“Parker, I think he’d like to get acquainted with your relic,” Addie mused aloud as he took a step back to give the brunette plenty of room, not even pissed enough to strike the man again in retaliation for the spitting. As always, he seemed to not give a damn.

Parker grinned, thinking about replying with his own brand of heat in his voice. When push came to shove though they had a job to do, and he stood back at Adler took the stage. He watched critically, eyes trailing over Addie for a few moments before refocusing on the rat in question. He got a little mad, okay with his temper it was furious, when the man spit on Adler. Gripping his bat tightly in his hand he grinned savagely and approached the man, who already started to plead.
'Dude no come on I'll tell you names I'll tell you!"
He rattled a few off, and Parker's gaze flickered to Adler. He knew those names were fake, knew those people in general and they were pretty devoted recruits. Especially when the guy rattled off Adler's name in his list, Parker snorted and raised his bat.
"Just let me go you faggot!"
Parker froze in position. He stopped for a moment, bat gripped in his hand, and took a vicious swing at the guys head. He saw red, and kept hitting until the man's head was nothing but pulp.
Adler’s gaze remained steady on their captive, his brow raising slightly when his own name was mentioned. He hadn’t trusted what the guy said much to begin with, but now he knew it to be utter bullshit. A deep breath escaped him when he heard that insult as well, knowing damn well that this wouldn’t be good.
“Park-,” he cut himself off when the brunette suddenly started swinging, able to tell after the first couple hits that the bound man probably wouldn’t make it. “Sie hurensohn- Was machst du gerade?!” Adler slipped into German without realizing it in his anger, moving forward to grip the brunette’s wrist tightly to stop him from moving as he glared hotly at the other man. His grip was bruisingly tight, and he shoved Parker away from the bound man. Quickly he checked the guy’s pulse, just to make sure he was gone.
“Verdammt,” he huffed in frustration when he confirmed the guy was dead, quickly wiping the blood off his fingers on the dead man’s clothes. “We need to go,” the dark haired man grumbled, shooting the younger one another glare before he quickly made his way back upstairs and to the van. He wasn’t worried about the body being found, having done this long enough to know he wouldn’t be tracked down.
