That she was bright, that she could go places with that fire burning in her soul, threatening to consume her. They said a lot of things in those days that kept her complacent and worry free in the beginning, that left her filled with hope. Of course that was before her dad turned to alcohol and then left the family, leaving her mother with 6 nearly starving children and overworked with her three jobs. It’s not like she felt like much of a burden, she was the youngest and most easily forgotten so she started to act out, and it was really only natural in the progression of things, in her mind, that her mother started beating her. It was to release her frustrations, and she wouldn’t dare touch any of the other children who she actually loved. That’s how Parker saw it anyway, especially with the way they kept calling “him” “her” and confusing his brain by putting him in dresses. It’s not like he’d asked to be born a girl and with a rather tight catholic upbringing there wasn’t much room for argument in that department.

That he burned like a thousand suns, like the brightest flame. This time, that wasn’t meant in a good way. Kids stayed away from the girl who dressed like a boy and picked fights. Who came to school battered and broken and who refused to talk to teachers and counselors about it. He learned to escape class first and easily, to plan escape routes, to avoid CPS like the plague until it was time where he could drop out of school entirely. It was a useless institution that wasn’t teaching him anything anyway and he was sick of it. His mother wasn’t so happy, and kicked him on his ass out on the streets. With a backpack and a coat he lived on the streets of Castelia for a few years, getting involved with gangs and building a name for himself so no one would mess with him. He learned to wield a knife, to shoot a gun, to brawl and fight for his life when he was writhing on the ground covered in blood.

He learned to love the fire burning in his soul. He learned to love the adrenaline high that came with fights and drugs and busts. He learned he was a good enforcer type and that gasoline had an intoxicating scent and that burning down buildings and escaping the cops was more fun than they let on in television shows.

that everything he touched turned to ash. Parker learned to smell like gasoline and flames, learned to smoke and do drugs and he learned to taste like pure ecstasy to those weaker than him. He learned to bind, he learned to hide who he really was. Parker learned a lot of things on the streets but even urchins need to move on in life at some point. He hit 22 and started selling drugs from a small supplier, small things like weed and cocaine and occasionally acid. Easy to control things. Parker learned to make a name for himself the second time, learned to patch up knife wounds in a shitty apartment in a bad part of town, learned to skip said town when customers became too rough, too knowing, too much for him. When the town became too small and the smells of sewage too much, he left for bigger and brighter things. By bigger and better he meant a small town he’d heard of through the grapevine, a place where strange things happened. Parker thought of himself as strange enough, so when he encountered Jubilife, he wasn’t really surprised when he was approached by Galactic forces and coerced into joining them as an enforcer. Now if only he could get the taste of cigarettes and ash back in his mouth….
