Caine huffed as he stared at the gym doors. He'd run from the pokemart after stocking up on some items before coming here. He knew that, with his team, he was most likely at a disadvantage and so he'd come prepared for the worst.[break][break]
Inside the gym, it looked like a large swimming pool. And it was olympic-sized. Absolutely enormous. To Caine, it didn't look as if the whole pool could have fit into the gym, from what he had seen outside. He guessed he was wrong.[break][break]
There was one figure swimming in the water - white hair, bald spot, and a strange series of blue paint on his face. All in all, Caine stuck out his tongue as he watched the strange man swimming.[break][break]
When the man surfaced, his eyes settled on Caine and he gave a large grin. Caine smiled back tentatively - that smile was one akin to when a small girl finds a cute toy and hugs it to death.[break][break]
"Welcome! I don't get challenged very often! The glory you are now beholding is the fourth gym leader! That's right, I'm Crasher Wake! My Pokémon were toughened up by stormy white waters! They'll take everything you can throw at them and then pull you under! Victory will be ours! Come on, let's get it done!" The man said, gesturing wildly to the gym. Suddenly, three pokemon appeared out of nowhere - A gyarados, a quagsire, and a floatzel. They all stared at Caine, who felt like a small speck in comparison. The quagsire waddled up front, and Caine assumed that this would be the first pokemon he would fight.[break][break]
"Let's have a good battle, then," Caine responded, releasing his Aggron. Merlin emerged with a deafening roar, but the other pokemon didn't even flinch. The quagsire, with a pleasant smile plastered on its face, whipped out its tail. Merlin was caught off guard by the attack - Caine had been expecting the quagsire to attack first. He shrugged.[break][break]
"Earthquake," Caine directed.[break][break]
The ground trembled and the building shook as Merlin unleashed the attack. The opposing quagsire stumbled slightly as it lost its footing, and it yelped as it received damage. It returned by spewing out Mud Bomb. The globs of gelatinous dirt struck Merlin with full force and the Aggron cried out as it was hurt by the super effective hit. Caine bit his lip as he listened to the pokemon's cries.[break][break]
"Blizzard," He mumbled softly.[break][break]
Merlin struggled slightly, re-finding its solid stance. A low growl began in the back of its throat. Slowly, as the noise gradually became louder and louder, flakes and tendrils of snow began to whip through the room, moving faster and faster until a veritable snow storm was happening within the gym. Caine watched, amused, as the pool began to freeze - with the gym leader swimming as fast as he could to get out of the water. The quagsire was slowly freezing over, until it became a near solid block of ice. It could still move, much to Caine's disappointment.[break][break]
"That wasn't very nice!" The leader grumbled. "Quaggy, slam 'im!"[break][break]
The quagsire tackled the Aggron, but the move wasn't very effective against the sturdy steel and rock type. Merlin shook off the quagsire and performed Caine's next command: "Power-Up Punch."[break][break]
The Aggron slammed a fist into the quagsire, who, frozen and hurt, fell to the ground. It struggled to rise, but couldn't and its eyes closed slowly. Crasher quickly recalled the fallen pokemon just as Caine recalled his Aggron. Merlin was badly hurt - he could see that, despite the pokemon's attempts to appear tough.[break][break]
"Good job, but you've still got to go through these bad boys!" Craser yelled, sending out his Gyarados. Caine tossed out his next pokemon - Valen, the Gliscor. The gyarados glared at Valens, whose attack slipped under the dragon's intimidating gaze.[break][break]
"Ice Fang!" Caine yelled, pointing at the floating dragon-like pokemon. Valen closed in on the Gyarados and bit into its neck, just behind the large fins around its head. The gyarados roared, spewing out salty, warm brine in an attempt to shake off the flying rock bat. Valen winced as the attack hit and the pain of it forced the pokemon to let go. [break][break]
Caine chewed his lip as he directed Valen to attack with Acrobatics. The flying type managed to dodge around before whacking the Gyarados' nose with its tail. The Gyarados roared and let loose Dragon Rage, which struck the Valen with a critical hit. It fell into the water with a great splash, breaking the ice on the pool. Horrified, Caine quickly ran across the ice to grab it and recall it into the pokeball.[break][break]
"This pool is troublesome," he said as he shivered. He'd slipped once or twice as he had gone on his rescue mission, and he wasn't feeling very happy. He released from his belt an electric type he'd stored just for this purpose.[break][break]
"Torrin, Charge Beam" He called, jaw set. The eelektrik attacked, letting loose a beam of electricity at the Gyarados, who was already hurt by the previous attacks. The super effective hit was critical as well, and the Gyarados fell from its levitating position, crashing through the majority of the ice in the pool. Crasher's gaze hardened as he recalled his pokemon.[break][break]
"I do hate losing, so I hope this Floatzel will get the best of ya." Crasher tossed out a pokeball, revealing a mighty floatzel, who chirp-barked at Caine ferociously.[break][break]
Caine recalled his Eelektrik. It would help, but it was also pretty weak, so facing it against the Floatzel would be a bad idea. Instead, he sent out one of his favorites - his gengar. "Tenne, Hypnosis!" He yelled. The gengar grinned and let loose a beam of psionic energy at the floatzel, whose eyes drooped as they closed. Caine gave a sigh of relief when he saw the floatzel sleeping.[break][break]
Tenne already knew what came next, and used Nightmare, cutting down on the floatzel's HP. And Tenne repeated the process until the floatzel's eyes snapped open. Caine narrowed his eyes. "Confuse ray," he muttered. The gengar sent out a ray whose colors disoriented the floatzel. Trembling, the water-type used swift out of complete disorientation, and the normal-type move passed through the ghost harmlessly.[break][break]
"Now Dark Pulse." Tenne snickered as it shot out a dark pulsation of energy, which struck the confused floatzel. Crasher's pokemon welped pitifully as it crumpled to the ground, unable to withstand all the attacks. Crasher frowned for a moment, looking absolutely furious as he recalled his pokemon. After a second or two, the glare was replaced with a bright smile.[break][break]
"Congrats!" The man applauded. "Take your winnings! And don't come back again, please."
