IT'S THE SAME OLD STORY BUT YOU NEVER GET IT RIGHT
"Well I'm not," Adrian affirmed instantaneously after parting her lips from her lover's cheek. Emerald irises would give a sideways glance to the illuminated screen of the phone to catch a glimpse of the photographed moment and she'd shake her head at the sight. It was no doubt an adorable photo of the newly formed couple, so much so that if it had been a different set of people then the woman would have scoffed and called it cheesy nonsense. Of course that wouldn't stop her from continuing to be disgusted by such behavior from others, but at least now it was almost as if she understood it to some extent. Nevertheless, just as Adrien had focused his attention on her in the photo, the ginger had made note of the his. "You're the cute one," she'd add matter of factly before turning her sights to the actual thing next to her rather than the virtual snippet.
On the comment about more dresses coming up however, Adrian couldn't help but roll her eyes. "Good luck with that." They had just gotten together that night and the fact that he still had the audacity to say things like that after knowing her disdain for dresses was baffling. She honestly couldn't tell if that was said in jest or as a warning, hoping it was the former rather than the later. Honestly if it wasn't mandatory for work the redhead doubted she would have worn the dress, and perhaps Adrien had known that with how astonished he seemed to see her in it at the ball, yet he sounded so confident. "And here I thought you finally learned." Spoken in a tone of disappointment, she'd shake her head as the male stood from the couch. While she had no intention of changing her mind or or ways, there was a stray thought that maybe if it was for him then maybe... she could-
A huff interrupted her thoughts. Sounding out of place, she tilted her head slightly as he called for her and a hand was offered. Normally the proud woman would have scoffed at the gesture and gotten up herself unless an injury warranted her acceptance of it. That said Adrian wasn't injured, but she'd place her hand into his and received that pull to her feet without a word of complaint. Since it was only the two of them in the rather still and empty apartment, it wasn't difficult to hear the low mumbling of her lover to which she'd shrug to as she took her own seat across from him. "You're the one that wanted to leave," she reminded after tucking a few stray strands of hair behind her ear. There was a thought about inquiring about the reason for that further but after her night of security duty at that ball, Adrian had no interest in re-spoiling the night with the memory.
That was when she'd finally turn her gaze from Adrien's visage to the bowl in front of her and she had to keep herself from impulsively laughing at the sight. It was as she expected, they had waited too long and the noodles had gotten mushy from soaking in the sodium saturated water. His apology could have been waved off and she could have comforted his attempt, he was a rich bachelor that she didn't expect much in terms of laymen ability after all, but that didn't feel right. Instead, "You're really bad at this," she decided to point out the obvious as she strung her chopsticks through the inflated noodles. That didn't stop her from eating the noodles however, suppressing any revulsion that might have surfaced to her taste buds. Truth be told the ranger wasn't too picky about food and had worse meals than overly sodden ramen. That didn't mean she'd eat it all but enough bites to make it clear she wasn't adverse to the meal and to keep her stomach from causing a fuss.
"Do you cook?"
"Hmm? Mmm..." Just a few hums of thought between bites given to the sudden question. Or perhaps it wasn't as sudden and should have been expected considering the aforementioned topic. While Adrian had hoped to avoid the subject of her lack of cooking ability, based on the food in front of them, she doubted that her lover could tease her about it when his ability was likely worse. Thus, as dictated by her nature, she'd respond truthfully. "Do you count it as cooking if the food ends up burnt?" A rhetorical question that spoke the truth about her cooking ability. Of course it was not as if Adrian had tried actual cooking more than thrice in her life, once with her mother in Kalos as a teenager and the rest during her sergeant days, but those experiences didn't give her much confidence to continue such a chore.
That said it wasn't as if the woman was a complete hazard in the kitchen. She had the ability to prepare quick items, such as microwaved foods or sandwiches, and bake to some extent. Thus she had some mind as to clarify that before that misunderstanding arose. "I don't have the time usually, but I can make small things." She'd pause to take another bite of the food before placing down her chopsticks and forcing it down. "I can definitely make instant noodles better than you."

Adrien wouldn't answer nor apologize when she expressed dissapointed at his comment. It was to be expected, although the man couldn't quite comprehend how a lengthy gown and only a T-shirt were any different, the latter no different than a mini-dress in his opinion. "You're the one that wanted to leave," Eyes flickered towards the ginger with some form of alarm eminent in them, as if the man had committed a grave err. And apparently he had seeing how the ranger's inflection was misunderstood and he assumed she had longed to stay at the ball and see through its end. "Oh? Were you actually enjoying the party?" He'd question genuinely. By the way she had spoken about the ball prior to departure, Adrien had assumed the only thing anchoring her down to the contest hall was her duty as Commissioner. He had dragged her out due to his own selfish whim - - one that he wouldn't regret even if the ginger comformed that she was enjoying herself there.
The cobalt-haired male would eye her bowl, irked by his own meal and at the sight of his girlfriend trying to be nice and actually eating it. "I'm not that bad. I just messed up this one time," The honest comment concerning his cooking skills caused him to impulsively turn defensive despite the blatant evidence before them. Taking a bite or two from his own bowl, Adrien would finally set aside his chopsticks and recline back on his chair when the woman began musing over the question. A small scoff escaped him when she answered followed by a wry smile. Burnt food? "Huh, Makes sense. You have the paitence of a magmar..." He'd comment off handedly, already being able to imagine her frustration in the kitchen.
"Right..." Adrien would acknowledge, albeit remained unconvinced of her ability. Eyes remained fixed on her bowl, certain she wasn't quite enjoying her meal. He couldn't blame her, he couldn't pretend he liked it either. Pondering over the dilemma, a sigh finally escaped him. "I'll make something else," He'd mumble with slight dejection as he'd stand up and pick up his bowl, his other hand going for hers. Taking the utensils to the kitchen, he'd place them on one counter. "Uhmm, would eggs do?" Asked as he'd open a few shelves and search about. Honestly he had no appetite and felt stupid for being unable to serve a better dinner for his guest... And girlfriend.

IT'S THE SAME OLD STORY BUT YOU NEVER GET IT RIGHT
"Ugh no," she'd respond instantly with an adequate amount of repugnance coloring her tone at the thought. For a moment she wondered where he got that idea from but honestly it didn't matter considering it was far from the truth. "Trust me, if I had a choice I would have left long ago. I'd much rather spend the rest of the night with you." Just like wearing elegant gowns, attending fancy parties - or really any party to be more accurate - were never really her type of thing, so there was no particular personal attachment she had to the ball. She thought that Adrien would have known that. That said, as the ginger leaned back in her seat, her mind would wander to how the rest of the night was unfolding there. "I feel bad for leaving the rest of security to my subordinates considering it's my responsibility, but that's about it." Perhaps she shouldn't have been so concerned but after bringing up her so called vested interest in the celebration, her sense of duty wouldn't let her live down leaving early.
Regardless, at her small jest, she'd take note of the defensive tenor. Not that bad, he said. At least he was admitting he was bad to begin with. "Yeah, sure. Whatever you say," she'd respond dismissively, obviously not taking much stock in his declaration. Somehow the woman doubted that the rich boy had only managed to conveniently mess up this single time alone. Not that she had much room to talk about such matters and her boyfriend caught onto that fact rather quickly as he'd return fire.
With a magmar comparison.
"Hey!" She'd react adversely as to be expected, her brows bunched together slightly. "What's that supposed to mean?" No one might have argued to validity of the statement considering, and maybe she deserved it; but after having such a tender moment, being compared to a magmar was definitely going to earn a hint of indignant ire. Once Adrien had sighed and stood from his seat however, the ginger would raise a brow as to the sudden apparent onset of depression.
"I'll make you something else."
"Oh no, no more cooking tonight." Adrian was swift to react accordingly, not because she didn't trust in her boyfriend's cooking (which was somewhat true), but because she had no interest in eating any further. Her appetite was sated and unless her boyfriend miraculously was still hungry, she wouldn't waste time giving the idea a second thought as she followed Adrien into the kitchen to protest. Upon walking in her eyes first fell onto the bowls on the counter and she'd pause to consider helping to wash up before the sounds of rummaging caught up to her. "Stop." Reaching a hand out to intercept him, aiming to grab onto arm, she'd try to make some form of eye contact to help convey her sincerity on the subject. "You can make eggs in the morning instead. If you even have any." And after giving the opened shelves a brief glance over along with the fact that he had to search for whatever he even had, the vermillion haired woman hardly expected anything anyway. Which really was even more reason to deter him. "Let's do something else. Like... watch a movie or something?"
Cause all she really wanted was to spend time together... and watching something together sounded more couple worthy.

Adrien merely nodded along as the ginger spoke of her revulsion concerning the lunar ball. The corners of his lip twitched upward at the admittance that she rather spend time with him than at the party. To hear such indirect hints of affection was a boon he was ascertain he wasn't going to grow acustomed to, for Adrian wasn't the kind to throw about sugar-coated words unnecessarily. As she continued with guilt eminent in her inflection, the cobalt would spare a sideward glance at the woman. A quiet chuckle escaped his lips at the sound of her dejection, one which Adrien was quick to correct as he'd clear his throat. "Well, most of them are pretty stupid but I'm sure they can manage a party on their own," He'd respond casually and without hesitation at that moment. Insensitive to some degree perhaps but the truth nonetheless. The rangers weren't most competent bunch out there with some exceptions being the lot he was aquainted with. After all, teir incompetence was the reason Galactic could get away with their plans.
The cobalt-haired male would flinch slightly when Adrian caught onto his comment, straying from making eye contact as he'd hum to himself. He wasn't going to elaborate lest risk further igniting the magmar she had proven herself to be. However, he'd be saved soon enougb when he left for the kitchen to prepare another dish. Adrien would choose to ignore her protests with a soft scoff. "Well you can't stay hungry," He'd retort as eyes searched through the bare shelves for the tray of eggs. None. A frustrated expire escaped a male as a hand reached to rub the back of his neck. It seemed that either Jason or the agency maid had cleared his shelves from the last time.
The gold eyed male would stare at the shelves in quite the dilemma when Adrian's intervention finally cause him to turn and face her. She'd propose that he could make eggs in the morning with utmost sincerity that nearly convinced him to give up with dinner. "Mm.." He'd muse to himself as lips twisted for a moment about tommorow's plans. He could pass by the convenient store on the way to get her some new garb... Unless she wanted to leave the following morning in the same shirt. An option he was doubtful of. "Fine," The Galactic male would answer as he'd close the shelves and step back, fingers running through his hair as he'd hear out her next suggestion. She wanted to watch a movie? "You aren't tired?" Adrien asked impulsively, surprised but not aversed to the suggestion. She was walking around in heels the entire day and was trying to manage a rather extravagant party. Surely the woman must have been tired. And while a movie was a decent way to spend the rest of night, one thing often led to another usually. And the man was confident she was oblivious to that fact. Either way, if she wanted.... "Alright. Pick something out from the shelves. I'll go change in the meantime," Spoken as the man had already begun unbuttoning the rest of his shirt as he'd move past her and into his room.

IT'S THE SAME OLD STORY BUT YOU NEVER GET IT RIGHT
The blatant insult to the rangers had the commissioner rolling her eyes at the comment, quite confident that it was purposefully stated in such a way. "Wow, thanks. That makes me feel so much better," she mumbled without hiding any ounce of the sarcasm dripping from her words. While she wouldn't say it aloud in her position, the ginger couldn't exactly disagree with the statement considering it was something she had thought throughout her career ever since joining the force as a cadet and interacting with some of the other rangers. It was partially why she refused to interact with a majority of them unless necessary, up until she was forced to after being promoted to commissioner. Being reluctant to trust in their abilities to manage the remainder of the Lunar Ball also somewhat stemmed from that deep seated conjecture of hers, but again it wasn't something she'd willingly admit to. Instead she'd sigh at the thought before being distracted from it.
While Adrien had ignored her demand for an explanation for that jab, evading the acknowledgement of doing anything of the sort as he escaped into the kitchen, the ginger would keep the thought in the back of her mind. It wasn't difficult to tell when the man was being stubborn and these moments were among the times that he exhibited those traits readily as he continued to shuffle through the empty shelves despite her protests. When he had raised the concern about her appetite however, the woman shook her head to deny his assertion. "Relax, I'm not hungry," she'd supply sincerely, her inflection imploring him to stop. It was true, of course, after having eaten enough of the soggy noodles to suppress her hunger from the entire day. Despite her jests aimed towards his cooking ability, Adrian was actually grateful for the consideration that the man was placing towards her as well as supplying her with as much as he already had. Thus once he had paused and actually considered her proposal, meeting his gaze once he had turned to her, she offered a bit of a smile.
Truthfully she wasn't sure what her plans were going to be for tomorrow. Even though she did suggest that he make the eggs in the morning, she wondered if he was even going to get up in time to do so. It wasn't as if she could stay here forever and considering she had work, she might have had to leave early. Of course thinking along those lines wasn't a pleasant and she hesitated to bring up that fact at all, but as long as told him before she left then perhaps it would be acceptable enough? At least that was her belief. Thus once Adrien had agreed to the proposal, all she could do was nod and hope that perhaps things would merely fall into place.
Surprisingly, it seemed that movie suggestion was receiving a somewhat positive response. Once the question arose about her being tired though, the ginger scoffed at the assumption. "Are you?" she reflected instinctively without any regard for herself. It was rather comical in a way. Earlier that night at the ball, the ginger couldn't deny she was annoyed from dealing with the various aspects that came with handling security and exhausted after the long day of tiring events. That said, as of this current moment, Adrian didn't feel very tired in the slightest. Perhaps that was due to some drive or something else that was fueling the woman to persist and that much she'd acknowledged at the least. "Don't worry about me. Like I said, I'd rather spend the rest of the night with you and I'm not going to waste it sleeping just yet." As if to emphasis, she'd lift her hand from his arm to wave off the idea. Regardless, the cobalt haired man had agreed before departing off into a side room; but not before emerald eyes would catch a glimpse of him unbuttoning his shirt as he had done so.
"Um..." she murmured to herself as her eyes trailed his figure, somewhat dazed for a second before recollecting herself. Blinking away the thought, the woman turned towards the bowls still sitting on the counter top and sighed at the sight. It figured that the wealthy bachelor of a boyfriend of hers would leave dishes about. Almost instinctively at that thought, the redhead moved to empty and wash the dirty dishes swiftly while Adrien went about changing before moving leaving the kitchen herself. Altogether it wouldn't take her long to do the minor chore and make it to the directed shelves lined with a variety of labeled cases. Truthfully many of the actual movie titles she didn't much recognize, nor did they catch her eye for one reason or another.
Actually the prospect of watching something wasn't as enticing as much as it was to spend time with Adrien himself considering their past interactions were mostly antagonistic or otherwise dispiriting due to the nature of them. She had hoped to mend that with their newly established relationship and at the least start by doing something to make up for that lost time. Unfortunately while the woman wasn't too picky about her food, it seemed that the things she was interested in watching were limited instead. Glancing over the cases that were clearly not movies but recorded videos of miscellaneous events, she'd take a mental note of their labels as she skimmed over them with again little interest up until one particular one caught her eye.
"What the..." she murmured to herself as she brought up a hand to pull out the spine of the case labeled 'Battle Cup' and look over the blank cover. Only one thought had come to mind when the term battle cup had arisen and if this was what she thought it was then she had half a mind to throw it out the window. Somehow though, she'd withhold on that impulse and instead would wait for her lover to reappear in order to confront him about it.
... by chucking the case at him the first chance she got.

“Mm,” Adrien smiled and eyed her without a word at her honest declaration stating she would rather spend time with him than asleep. The ginger was always honest and straightforward which gave the Galactic admin little basis to doubt her word for. With that, the topic of food would be dropped entirely. “Careful what you wish for,” The cobalt-haired male would lightly comment and chuckle as he’d make it to the other room, unaware of wandering eyes not that he'd care. While hardly an hour or so had passed since their arrival at the apartment, it took Adrien a little less than fifteen minutes to make his room look homely again. From scouring through his wardrobe to find a T-shirt for Adrian to wear to undressing himself, his room would soon be graced with some character. It wouldn’t be a mess but the various pieces of clothing littered about the bed and corners of the room would add to otherwise seemingly lifeless chamber.
Putting on a casual T-shirt, the Arkwright’s ears would perk up at the sound of utensils been shuffled about and gushing of running water from the kitchen. “What is she…?” He’d murmur to himself before the reason became all too apparent. An irritated sigh would escape him at the thought of her doing the dishes. Adrian was his guest and to make her do chores about the place was far from acceptable. “Adrian?” Finally donning a simple T-shirt and shorts, the male would immediately exit the room hoping she wasn't still going about with any redundant chores.
SMACK!
And that was when a disc case would hit him square on the jaw, Adrien unable to correctly gauge or even see the oncoming projectile due to his misaligned vision, courtesy of the missing eyepatch. “What the…” He’d flinch slightly as his eye closed to focus on the case, finally grasping it between his thumb and index. He'd impulsively bite on his lower lip at where the case had hit, mildly soothing the pain before looking up at her. “What was that for?” A perplexed and even lost Adrien questioned softly as his gaze shifted from the case to the ginger, the man worried that he had already managed to evoke her ire. Taking a better look at the case, he’d read the label – “Battle Cup” – and pause momentarily. “Oh do you want to watch this?”
Asked, still blatantly oblivious to her qualms concerning the contents of the disc.

IT'S THE SAME OLD STORY BUT YOU NEVER GET IT RIGHT
It was an impulsive action, one that couldn't be taken back once the disc case began careening through the air. Turning to follow the path of the flying object with every expectation that it would be caught, completely forgetting about Adrien's left eye, emerald eyes widened upon the swift realization that the man was not reacting upon stepping out of his room. Thus while Adrian had not thrown it with her full force, she had put enough strength into the throw to make her wince in regret once hearing the echo of impact of the plastic box hitting her lover.
There wasn't a yelp of pain or anything of the sort, to which the ginger was thankful for, and the innocent question posed amidst his confused voice made her second guess confronting him about disk itself for half a second in favor of going to his side. However she'd refrain from doing so as uncertainty gripped her form, eyes now glancing over the rather informal appearance of the usually well dressed man. He definitely looked different but not in a bad way... which was quite a strange thought for her to have. "I... uh..." The ginger tried to regain her focus but managed to stumble over her thoughts instead, shifting her gaze away bashfully as she moved her hand to rub the back of her neck.
It wouldn't be until the next question that Adrian would recall the reason for flinging the disk at him.
Recollection soon flooded back into the woman as she recalled the label on the case and instantly she turned back to face those golden eyes with a stupefied expression, dropping her hand back down to her side as she started. "What? No, I don't want to watch it!" She'd answer in retaliation, a tone of confusion converting to disbelief being placed into those words. After having thrown the thing at him, why would he think that she wanted to watch that video? Especially so if the contents of it were what she thought they were. The redhead had already known the outcome of the battle cup considering and she highly doubted that her partner was unaware of it either considering he owned the recording. Speaking of, "Why do you even have that?"
Of course she was more so asking out of her own vexation rather than asking for the sake of an actual answer. It wasn't as if people were barred from recording the matches of the event and had it been anyone else then she might not have cared. Plus the rangers had a recorded version of the battle cup themselves somewhere within headquarters for security purposes, not to mention the fact that it contributed to her recognition and promotion in some respect. Yet for the flirt that was now her boyfriend to have a recording her for whatever reason made her feel somewhat uncomfortably awkward with the current set of circumstances. "If that's the one that we competed in then get rid of it. I'll pick something else."
Post by adrien arkwright on Oct 29, 2016 22:29:20 GMT
Brows furrowed at he’d gaze at her attentively, unable to quite comprehend Adrian’s sudden loss of words. The fact that his more comfortable garb had caused such a reaction never occurred to him. Adrien was about to ask if everything was alright, taking steps towards her when she’d flare up as if spontaneously recalling the reason for her outburst. Eyes widened in utter confusion unable to comprehend a single word spoken by his girlfriend.
“Then why---“He wasn’t able to even ask when she’d speak again, showing repulsion to the extent that he had to double check the cover and hope it wasn't something explicit. Battle Cup -- It was clearly written. Eyes stared at the disc trying to recollect as to why he had it again. “Ah, I had a grunt record it. Galactic purposes,” The cobalt haired male would answer a moment later, his visage as straight-laced as before. He had participated in the battle cup for the sole purpose of gathering intel of the strongest trainers in Sinnoh and apparent that happened to be Adrian Mastry seeing how she was titled the victor in the end. “I’m not getting rid of it. Why would I?” He’d adamantly refuse to, not because it held value in Galactic but because it now served as a memory to look back on. Adrien wasn’t much into sentiments but such tokens of the past were appreciated. Why she was averse to it he wasn’t sure, but he wasn’t about to just chuck it in the bin at her demand.
“In-fact, let’s go through it since you haven’t found anything else,” He’d smirk as he’d kneel by the DVD player and open the case. The battle cup had concluded quite a while back and most of the events that had transpired that day weren’t too remarkable apart from Rory McClain’s fistfight. All he could recall of Mastry was that she wasn’t very pleased to see him that day, although the reason as to why, was a blur. So unless she stopped him, he’d gesture her to take a seat on the couch as he'd set the TV up.
IT'S THE SAME OLD STORY BUT YOU NEVER GET IT RIGHT
"Wh-" Legitimately speechless at his brazen response to her question, the ginger could only squint as if to distinguish the degree of seriousness that was in the statement. Spotting no hint of regret or jest in his expression, she pursed her lips in thought. Apparently her boyfriend kept assortments of galactic related videos in his apartment and she was just supposed to accept it? It certainly wasn't as if he had any need to hide his affiliation, sure, and at the least he was being honest without a doubt; but Adrian couldn't help but be baffled by it nonetheless. "Is that supposed to make me feel better?"
While she didn't expect an answer to her more or less rhetorical question, knowing the most likely answer to the purposes being to scout the participants or something, what she had expected was some sort of understanding from the male. Instead she was met with obstinate refusal to her demands, and a rather swift one at that. It wouldn't take her long afterwards to recognize that Adrien didn't quite comprehend her plight, earning an exasperated sigh as the woman tried to think of the best way to respond with an answer. Somehow 'because I want you to' didn't seem like an acceptable answer and even if it was there was no way that the ranger was going to say anything of the sort. Thus she'd end up biting her bottom lip and lowering her gaze to the floor in thought, during which it seemed that the navy haired male had maneuvered his way towards the television with disk in hand.
"Because the battle cup was a long time ago and it's..." she'd make an attempt to explain but her voice trailed once she tried to bring her eyes back towards the Galactic male only to finally take notice of his movements. Catching onto the smirk on his features as his statement registered into her mind, her body impulsively sprung into action immediately knowingly. "No, stop!" Being true to her nature, right as she'd exclaim those words, the woman would brashly lunge towards Adrien in an effort to tackle him to the ground as to halt him from proceeding with his plan.
Whether or not it succeeded, she'd further speak to provide her reasoning as if it would excuse the fact that she had thrown herself at her lover just to stop him from playing a video of their battle. "I don't want to watch myself. It's embarrassing enough just knowing you have the video in the first place." Of course she'd refrain from mentioning how likely he's watched it over as well. Honestly the ginger herself didn't much recall the events of the battle cup aside from some specifics of the battles themselves and for the most part she wanted to keep it that way. By no means did she specifically recall her interaction with Arkwright at the beginning aside from knowing she loathed the idea of interacting with him in the first place due to his attitude. In some way, perhaps that knowledge also contributed to her actions of trying to stop the video from being played.

“…” He wouldn’t respond to her rhetorical question, unsure of what was wrong with his answer. While sparse and not incriminating, there was certainly some Galactic material lying around his apartment. Besides, Adrian was already aware of his affiliation so he couldn’t quite comprehend what her ire was about. Ignoring the sigh that escape the ginger, the cobalt haired would pop open the case. “And it’s…?” He’d absentmindedly beckon for an answer, just about to put the disc in when she’d abruptly cry out. His snapped towards her, only to see the woman lurching right at him.
Unable to evade in his position, Adrien would fall back and onto the floor, one hand raised as he’d keep the disc from falling. His head was flexed enough to prevent a direct hit to the back of the head, but even so, her plan of action was out of the norm. “Adrian?!” He’d exclaim in bewilderment, demanding an explanation as his lover was now perched above him. “Cou-Could yo—“ He’d start, a mild almost negligible hue of red appearing on his features at her bold move, only to cut himself off when she spoke again.
The explanation that did follow caused startled eyes to somber down and a playful, scoff to escape his lips. “Really? That’s it,” He’d ask with mild disbelief before his head would gently fall back to the ground. She was embarrassed to watch herself?“Mm…” Eyes would stare at the ceiling blankly as if considering her qualms. But then, “Nope!” He’d immediately dismissive her silly complain as his other arm would reach for her waist, pushing her down to the side as he’d twist his body.
If worked according to plan, he’d be above her and amber eyes would stare down at her emerald ones. “We’re watching it. It’ll be fun,” He’d declare before getting off her finally. One hand was prepared for any other sort of struggle she’d try to put up, while the hand with which the disc was held would insert it into the player. "Go sit down,"
IT'S THE SAME OLD STORY BUT YOU NEVER GET IT RIGHT
Call it ranger instincts or desperation of a reckless woman, there wasn't a single thought going through Adrian's mind as she leapt forward aside from the goal of stopping that disc from being played. In an instant it wouldn't take long for the ginger to collide with her target, the force exerted sending them both toppling to the floor. Despite having initiated the tackle, there was an innate need to break the fall to protect herself and Adrien from getting hurt from the tumble. Bringing her arms upwards to support her body to prevent her entire weight from dropping onto her lover, she'd hold her upper body up slightly as her emerald eyes were cast down to the man below her.
Her arms were now stiff on either side of Adrien's head, her cascades of scarlet similarly draping down akin to curtains on both sides of the ranger's face as her eyes locked onto those striking golds. Ranger training had taught her how to safely tackle a person, to subdue them with the effort or at least slow them down. However, this was definitely not how the woman remembered performing those defensive tackles and she knew that, and it certainly didn't prepare her for this moment. Inhaling a sharp breath at the bellowing of her name, subconsciously holding that breath in as she glanced over unfamiliar expression on Adrien's visage, her previously blank thoughts ran through all the possibilities of how to proceed during the uncomprehended stuttering. The faint hint of a blush would be entirely missed due to the obstruction of light and staggered thoughts of the ginger herself. Then, before she had known it, she had verbally dumped her single minded rationale that had caused these events to spiral as they have in the first place.
Thus to hear a scoff and what sounded to be mocking disbelief from the pinned Arkwright had the woman purse her lips bashfully. Lifting a hand off the floor to brush the entirely of her scarlet hair to one side, she'd relent slightly once a humming of thought sounded. Strangely enough, it was only now that the woman was becoming conscious of her position and the amount of clothes she was wearing. Glancing away for just that moment, shrinking lower mindlessly, that instant was the one that the dismissive declaration was made that brought her attention back. Subsequently a gentle pressure constricted around the lower half of her torso that pushed her off such a rather noteworthy position, a shocked inhale of a breath taken as she was taken to the ground on her back.
Which was when Adrien had assumed that dominant stature over her as if he intended to mesmerize her further into submitting to the idea of watching the disaster of an exhibition tournament. "Adrien, come on." Her tone shifted to a somewhat pleading tone. An almost demurred groan sounding from the ginger following this declaration, unable to break the gaze they held, but taking note of the disc in her peripheral vision. "Please?"
Though it seemed as if the rogue couldn't be bothered to listen, having moved away from her form in favor of plopping the disc into the machine with every intention of playing it to make her suffer. In turn the brash redhead wouldn't listen to his demand to sit, instead propping herself up from the ground onto her elbows and then sitting up on her knees before reaching over to stop her boyfriend, met with the resistance of the opposite hand at the attempt. "It was a long time ago. What does it matter?" She'd question earnestly trying to further dissuade him. Though she was insistent, once the video was in there wasn't much left that she could do except throw a childish tantrum and wreck the player - which by no means was something the ginger could bring herself to do - and so she'd sit on the ground defeated, hanging onto her lover's arm as he won this round. She wouldn't resist if Adrien had brought her to the couch again after that, but there would a look of disappointment strewn onto her features regardless.

Ever since the day at Celestic Hospital, Adrien had learned to brace himself for tantrums and ultimatums thrown at him by his now-turned lover. So when she'd refrain from doing so and instead pleaded adorably, the cobalt haired male couldn't help but cock a brow and hesitate for a moment. One hand still fended off her approaching hand until she hung onto it, upon which the strength in arm dissolved completely. A sigh as if conceding to some degree escaped him, as he'd take the remote and turn to her. "Okay, we won't watch all of it -- just a bit of ours, okay?" He'd state as he'd take her extended hand and get up, a yank meant to pull her up following suit.
"Come'on," Perhaps part of the reason why he couldn't comprehend her reluctance to watch herself was due to having grown accustomed to having his pictures taken and seeing it elsewhere -- be it in the newspapers or more personal events. Being the ranger commissioner, it was baffling how camera-shy the woman was. Moving to the couch behind them, Adrien would take a seat casually and hope the ginger followed. Cuddling with her did occur to him although he'd refrain from doing so until her slightly dampened mood would improve. With a click of a button, the large screen would display the video depicting a rather festive scene of Sandgem Beach. Adrien would fast-forward to their battle, a smirk forming on his face at the sight of familiar vermilion threads. "Mm, this is it," A small comment of the obvious offered as he'd recline back.
Resting his elbow on the armrest, he'd support his head on his balled fist and watch quietly as dialogue ensued. The blue-haired male on the screen was the first to initiate dialogue -- nothing out of the ordinary to Adrien as he perceived it. That is, until the second of his greetings followed, which had memories suddenly inundating his mind. His smirk faded as he'd spectate his old-self apparently flirting with her, something which he often denied doing in the past.
IT'S THE SAME OLD STORY BUT YOU NEVER GET IT RIGHT
He wasn't listening. He rarely ever did. The ginger could only released a sigh of disappointment at her boyfriend's apparent resolution to watch the tournament. Even when the man had relented to watch the portion in which they competed against each other, it wouldn't bring any sense of relief or satisfaction to the woman as she clung to her lover's arm. It seemed that he was dead set on watching the video for whatever reason but, without a doubt, out of the entire tournament battles on that disc the one that involved the both of them was the last one she wanted to watch. That said, there wasn't much she could do about the matter anymore considering Adrien wasn't heeding her demands anymore. All she had to do with grit her teeth and watch it. That's what he wanted, even if it was most likely to spite her. "Fine," she'd say shortly as she felt the tug of movement in her grasp.
That wouldn't stop a disgruntled grunt from sounding from the ranger upon being pulled up to her feet. Reluctantly trailing behind the man as he prompted her to follow, she'd watch him sink into his seat before taking a seat directly next to him. Since the golden eyed male had seemed content without snuggling up with her, the woman had instead took to leaning as far back onto the back of the couch as possible while folding her arms in front of her to brace for the worst. A flicker of the television brought her attention towards it, focusing on the scenery of the sprawling beaches of Sandgem used as makeshift battlefields.
Unlike her apparent celebrity of a boyfriend, the younger commissioner didn't take well to being a public figure of any sort. Most of the time she had blown off any piece of publicity and kept her promotion as commissioner only within rangers ranks for a reason. It wasn't as if the redhead had an issue with her picture being taken as they frequently resulted in her scowling or otherwise looking disinterested with a low probability of them coming back to her sight. Watching her past self, however, was a different story and thus the second she had seen herself past self reflected in the television screen there was an instantaneous internal grimace that came to her. Ignoring the pleased commentary of the one beside her, there was a moment where she tried to recall why she had signed up for the battle cup in the first place as she watched the two pokemon appear on the field. Unfortunately, she was unable to recall that little detail before the arrival of a rather distinct blue threads came into view.
Her brows momentarily wrinkled at the passing thought concerning the lighter tint of blue that displayed on the television, stealing a glimpse towards the actual thing next to her and then shifting her attention back after brushing off the thought. Of course, the younger Adrien was the first to speak out in a strikingly familiar tone that was somehow off putting at the same time. Then he continued and all of a sudden, the ginger was reminded of her initial intensity of disgust she felt at the man present. "Ugh." An instinctual groan of disdain sounded as a hand would be brought to cover her face. Shameless flirting, just like how she remembered despite consistent denials of doing otherwise.
"So there is video evidence of it after all," she'd comment upon hearing the quaint sound of awareness setting in, slipping her palm off her features as she turned her head to face Adrien. That said, even with that fact in mind, it did little to assuage her disapproval of watching the rest of the video; hearing what was apparently her voice seething from the sound system to dismiss that flirtation. It was then the battle began, not that the ginger was too interested in watching how badly she fought in the past comparatively, instead now re-voicing her disinclination amidst the echoes of pokemon cries.

The grunt that escaped his girlfriend hadn't gone unnoticed, the woman apparently embarrassed at his antics for reasons he could only dismiss as insignificant. Gold eyes glanced side-ward at Adrian who had now pressed herself deeper into the backrest of the couch. He'd smirk at the sight of her covering her face out of shame, it being an expression he hadn't seen on her before. It was then that she decided to make a comment which caused him to turn his head to look at her. "What?" He'd question despite clearly understanding what she was referring to. "I was just being friendly..." He'd defend despite his tone wavering a bit, the man unsure of what exactly he was doing back then himself. It looked like flirting but well... 'Probably?,' He'd shrug it off and wasn't about to think to hard about it. When the actual battle began, Adrien would watch indifferently, that is, until he caught sight of the disgruntled expression apparent on his lover's features.
At first the man would dismiss is, but as Adrian continued to scowl at the screen the cobalt haired male's attention would be diverted from the screen and to stealing glances it. "Fine," A huff in defeat would sound as a click of the remote control would freeze the screen. It wasn't as if the battle held any sentimental value nor any memorable moments which further perplexed the man on Adrian's stubborn standpoint. Whatever it was, he'd try to get her mind off it since there was no pleasing her. "You don't need to make a face, you know " He'd comment lightly as he'd finally turn and recline, his legs over the armrest while his head down attempt to rest on her lap. If Adrian chose to shift away, he'd only flash a moment's dejection before his head would rest on the couch instead. With amber eyes staring right up at her, he'd pause as eyes scanned her perfect features to his heart's content.
"Besides, pretty sure you crushed on me since the beginning. Isn't that why you stopped me in Jubilife, too~? " He'd smirk, his ego surfacing as always. Honestly all the times she had rebuked him and even the strike to the jaw he received had been watered down in his memories.Right now, Adrien was just getting accustomed to a side of the ginger he had never imagined he'd ever see. And with being allowed such a privilege, came his nonchalant disregard and casual flirting as always. Except this time, the man probably wasn't going to get hit.
IT'S THE SAME OLD STORY BUT YOU NEVER GET IT RIGHT
Just being friendly, he said in which earned him a brief sideways glance. "Your way of being friendly is disturbing," she voiced with a slightly perturbed inflection. From what she could tell of Arkwright when she had first met him, his statement could have been very likely that. A habitual flirt that he was, the first day she met him he had admitted that he saw nothing wrong with his flippant attitude and coquettish ways to which was part of the reason she punched him that same day. Either way, it didn't sit well with her and that would have been reflected on her disappointed expression upon seeing her lover shrug off the thought. None of that changed how the woman reacted to watching the battle clip however, slowly recalling her viewpoint on the battle at the time. Most of her attention had been fixated on avoiding glimpses of herself as she watched the battle as a whole that inadvertently led to the perpetual scowl that was worn on her features.
Once the screen had frozen in place, the image of Adrien and his pokemon standing still there, the voice and huff of defeat came with it. Shifting her head to turn towards her lover as he commented on her displeased expression, her expression would waver slightly. Her lips would purse into a mild pout due to the uncertainty of how to respond as Adrien had moved about on the couch curiously, watching without any forethought as to what he was attempting to do. Thus there was a moment of confusion once the gentle weight of lush silk was placed onto her lap, the cobalt strands brushing against her bare skin making her hyper aware of her position. A tinge of red would bloom across her cheeks once the facts dawned upon her, her eyes lowering to meet those mesmerizing golds staring back at her dumbfounded expression.
Consequently it had stunned the woman long enough to not immediately retort to his statement, taking her a second to process the smug words as her gaze locked onto his smirking lips. At that she couldn't help but scoff lightly at his assertion as her mind thought back on their first meeting where there was nothing but utter contempt felt for the man that she now called her lover. The fact that he could say that after what had happened was in the face of what he had done was beyond her. "Because that's only logical after getting hit on by the person that set you on fire, right?" She spoke sarcastically as she closed her eyes to focus on beating away the surfaced blush. There was some debatable success in that regard to which afterwards the ginger would raise a hand to flick her finger against his forehead as retribution for that little tease. "Rory stopped you in Jubilife and you knew that I couldn't stand you then either."
That said, never in her wildest dreams would she have imagined herself falling for someone like Adrien. Surely if someone were to have told her back then that she was to be dating the Arkwright male, she would have immediately admonished them and said to kill herself. He was spoiled, pompous, a casanova, and truly vexing to the highest degree; yet he also showed her something else. A weakness and kindness that she did not anticipate. He had managed to touch her in a way that she believe she long discarded the sentiment for and thankfully this had been the result. Confirming this with herself, she brought her opposite hand to sweep away her descending locks of scarlet from her face as she slowly lowered her head downwards in an attempt to indulge in a kiss for as long as her lover would allow for it. Regardless of whether Adrien gave her that opportunity, the ginger would bring her head back upwards slightly only to have it hover inches away from the man before a curious question had escaped her. If he was talking about when they started crushing, then it was fair to ask...
"So when did you start having feelings for me anyway?"
