So it was Caine’s turn to ask the questions now… huh?
Athena wondered what Caine would do with the information if she did divulge it. If she were honest, Caine had not qualities she often sought in any person, and he was far too young to take any interest in him. But the universe had always surprised her in the weirdest ways.
The conflict on whether to tell him the truth or keep up the facade was there. But if she mixed in truth with lies, the scientist wondered whether he’d be able to tell things apart. She did have a feeling he only wanted to know her past, only to keep her off his back. There’d be many ways to come back to that later.
“Problems? Just people stopping me from work. My parents were nearly not as smart as I was, so I abandoned them. Though I daresay it, if you want to know more about me…” She leaned in closer, a naughty smile on her face. “ Why not come to my laboratory? I could show some very wonderful things…”

Caine raised an eyebrow as the scientist offered him a chance to visit her laboratory. Although he was indeed curious, he had an inkling that whatever experiments Athena did, they were probably not pleasant. Even if in the pursuit of knowledge, there was a limit to such endeavors.[break][break]
As he contemplated this, he realized that that was probably why "people were stopping her from work". From what he knew, she was harsh, strict, and if he was assuming correctly, she had few of the morals normal people had. He gave a wry smile at the thought. He, too, was probably twisted in others' eyes.[break][break]
"As much as I'd love to see a laboratory, I will have to deign to refuse," he replied. Caine gave an apologetic nod of the head as he continued. "Perhaps another time."[break][break]
He was truly curious as to what these wonderful things were, but he was also slightly afraid. Whatever was inside was a complete mystery. For all he knew, she might have performed experiments on humans. And he didn't want to become her next victim.[break][break]
Caine gave a small cough. "Might I ask what you research?" He couldn't place where she might fit in terms of science and laboratories. Researching Palkia and Dialga? Medical experiements? Pokemon experiments? He wasn't sure.
