major news alert!
witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
Caine had never enjoyed entering the Team Galactic HQ, but today was different.[break][break] Now was the time for a fresh start, new impressions, and most importantly, connections.[break][break] Caine had dressed immaculately - he wore the Galactic uniform, which was in pristine condition except for the slight snag on the left cuff, but he managed to hide that by tucking the thread inside his sleeve. He'd never felt comfortable in the Galactic uniform, much preferring to dress however he wished, but for the sake of introductions, he might as well display his support for Team Galactic.[break][break] Even if his ideas differed from the leader's. He didn't intend to follow the team's goal at all - capture dialga and palkia to remake the world? Nonsense. All Caine wanted was to save his friend...[break][break] The HQ was splendid, obviously decked out with riches and modern technology. The Team's obviously large funds were one of the first reasons he had affiliated himself with them in the first place - he needed money. He still did, but not so much as before his father passed on.[break][break] He straightened his coat and glanced around the lobby, wondering whom he should approach first. In the end, he decided to approach the person who was closest to him.[break][break] "Hello, how do you do?" he asked. "I'm Caine, one of the recruits."
After doing some system maintenance, and reviewing reports, filing them correctly and such, Athena had nothing to do. Who knew being such a genius could be such a burden? She had finished earlier than expected, which left her with ample time to probably get on with her experiments.
Since Mercury’s evolution, Athena had stayed clear of accessing any of the laboratories and facilities, and everytime she punished the metal-type, it would gladly take it. Was it thankful that her experiment had failed? Clearly, it was, giving Athena more reason to hurt and punish Mercury even more so than he deserved.
What Athena hated the most was cleaning up after other people’s mess, whether it was her Pokemon’s or someone else’s. But someone else’s mistake was still no excuse to stop Athena from conducting her experiments. So she decided to head to the storage room and see how Rotom changed forms. She had yet to experiment on that, and hopefully, she could find how it did and if there were any other possible forms it could change.
Her line of thought was interrupted by a somewhat familiar voice. Not in the way that she knew the person, but the feel of kissing ass. She glanced sideways, and then turned to fully face the brave soul, returning the greeting with an ambiguous smile.
“Caine… was it?” She got closer to him, as always, trying to get a good look. Their faces would be an inch away from each other as she inspected her new, would be material. “Hmmm… aren’t you a little skinny, fragile and naive to be working for a crime organization? What do you hope to achieve here?”
[attr="class","jarcainereply1"] The figure he'd approached seemed to be heading towards a laboratory area - a part of the HQ that he had no access to, as he was not a researcher. Or rather, he was allowed access only if he ever was aiding a researcher or spent on a special errand.[break][break] He didn't mean to startle her, and Caine noticed the ambiguous smile on her face to be akin to the smile of a hunter watching its prey. It left him feeling uncomfortable, and he started to regret his decision. But he shook it off - everyone was different. Perhaps this woman would be nice.[break][break] That was quickly proven wrong.[break][break] Caine recoiled slightly as the woman stuck her face right by his. Had she never heard of personal space? And when she mentioned that he was "skinny, fragile, and naive", his frown increased with each word.[break][break] "Pardon me, but is that not a little rude?" he asked. No point dancing around it. "I'm sorry if I have offended you in some way." Caine's eyes flashed. Keep calm, keep calm.[break][break] "Anyways. I was recruited some years ago," Caine replied. "Obviously, I showed potential and I have remained loyal over the past several years. What I hope to achieve lies in the capture of Dialga and Palkia." True, but not the complete truth. And frankly, Caine had a lot of experience and practice in lying.

Athena blinked a few times and squinted at the strange little being before him, still not giving him the personal space he so desired, judging by how he moved back. It was refreshing, that the scientist could admit. Surely enough there were multitudes of personalities within Galactic derived from years of precarious extortion and deception,
But today she’d found what she could define as a 'pure, unadulterated soul'.
There were a few things that she took into account to come up with such an assumption. First and foremost, the Galactic Uniform. Athena wore whatever the hell she wanted, unless it was a mission or something official. Unlike Rangers, Team Galactic would’ve died a long time ago if it paraded its members in such attires. Which meant this kid was doing it for show and most probably, to impress the higher-ups.
The most important part was his manner of speech.
Rude? Athena accidentally laughed at that one, and finally gave him the space he needed, though she didn’t move from her spot. “Oh my! You think being rude is the worst thing that could happen to you here? “ she continued to laugh some more, crossing her arms beneath her chest. Her laugh presented itself as form of a giggle with a wide smile. “ You’re in a crime.or.ga.ni.za.tion. And you think being rude is offensive?”
The scientist tilted her head and raised an eyebrow. Boy, was he ambitious. Athena was ambitious as well, but at least she was realistic about it. He wanted to be the one to achieve Galactic’s lifelong dream? This Athena would need to dissect bit by bit. “Oh sugar Caine! Dialga and Palkia are only a means to an end. But tell me… what sort of goal do you wish to meet that would require the greater powers of space and time?”
Her eyes were playful, teasing even. It might have been bad to antagonize a new recruit but you would needed more than just patriotism and ambition to get where you wanted. Life was a game of gamble, with no choice but to play. Athena wanted to this ‘potential’ that Caine spoke of with so much pride. “I mean, everyone here has something they want and Galactic can help them achieve that. Things like money, power, glory. Very ridiculous stuff. Often vague, but I don’t really care about that. But you...” She walked in closer to him again, but this time circled around him, like a vulture waiting for a wounded herbivore to die, eyes still on the silver haired kid. “You specifically want to capture Palkia and Dialga… but for what? Galactic’s gonna change it into an entire new world… but let’s say that such a theoretical world-scale phenomena can only occur once, and only once… ”
Athena stopped behind him and whispered in his ear from behin. “you speak of loyalty only because … I don’t know, possibly your goal meets our demands? What are you going to do once Palkia and Dialga are in your possession?”
[attr="class","jarcainereply1"] Caine kept leaning backwards slightly to escape Athena's closeness, until she finally leaned back and began to laugh. His nose scrunched as she articulated each syllable in the word "organization" as if she was ridiculing him for being a kid. Of course being rude was a bit offensive - it definitely wasn't polite. He understood that Team Galactic was a crime organization - one of the reasons he'd kept his affiliations with them hidden for so long. "Of course it's a crime organization. I just imagined that its members would have more decorum and finesse...or at least the worthwhile ones would."[break][break] Dialga and Palkia, a means to an end? He supposed so. The woman's questions gave him a dreadful feeling - they hit far too close to home. "My goal is to change this world, of course," Caine uttered confidently. "Same as the Team's goal."[break][break] He felt disconcerted as Athena began to circle him. He hated the feeling of being dissected and judged, and Athena was clearly doing just that. "I only need such a phenomena to occur once," He muttered softly, albeit a little sulkily. It felt uncomfortable to have suddenly lost the leading role in the conversation - he'd hoped to pose some questions, perhaps get to know who this woman was. Heck, she still hadn't introduced herself. Caine supposed she worked in the laboratory often, as she'd been heading there at first, but all he'd gotten out of this conversation was that this woman was not pleasant. Now he wished he'd dressed in his usual clothing - the Galactic uniform was far too warm.[break][break] Athena stopped and he could feel her breath on his cheek as she whispered a question that sent shivers down his spine. How insightful was she? How much did she know? Caine gritted his teeth. "If you question my loyalty, it will be proven in the future. Just watch. And Palkia and Dialga?" he scoffed. "They are a means to an end, just as you said. I'd use them for that very purpose - for the team's goal."[break][break] Caine glanced at the doors behind the researcher. "It seems as if you have no sympathy for the team's purpose. Are you here to research? What is it that you're researching?" He asked curiously. Caine had to admit that he was curious - he enjoyed learning new things. Was she researching on Dialga and Palkia? If so, he was interested. If otherwise, not so much, but knowledge is power, as they say. Caine wondered if he'd be able to turn the conversation around to a different topic...[break][break] OOC: bugaaah Caine's getting roasted.
[newclass=".jarcainecontainer"]width:300px;height:270px;background:#fff;border:5px double #efefef;padding:40px;[/newclass] [newclass=".jarcainetitle"]width:300px;padding:10px;color:#fff;background:#4e8bc5;font-family:Abel;font-size:25px;margin-left:-10px;margin-top:-10px;text-align:left;text-transform:uppercase;[/newclass] [newclass=".jarcainetag"]width:180px;border:5px double #fff;margin-left:-120px;background:#efefef;font-family:Abel;font-size:10px;padding:3px;margin-top:10px;color:#919191;transition:all 0.5s linear 0s;[/newclass] [newclass=".jarcainetag1"]border:5px double #fff;font-family:Abel;font-size:10px;padding:3px;color:#919191;background:#4e8bc5;width:20px;float:center;color:#fff;margin-right:-110px;margin-top:-28px;[/newclass] [newclass=".jarcainetag2"]border:5px double #fff;background:#efefef;font-family:Abel;font-size:10px;padding:3px;color:#919191;width:215px;margin-left:-85px;transition:all 0.5s linear 0s;[/newclass] [newclass=".jarcainereply1"]width:310px;height:150px;overflow:auto;font-family:Lato;font-size:11px;text-align:justify;margin-left:-10px;margin-top:20px;color:#616161;padding:5px;transition:all 0.5s linear 0s;[/newclass] [newclass=".jarcainepic"]width:50px;height:50px;border:5px double #fff;background:#efefef;float:right;padding:5px;margin-top:45px;margin-right:-5px;[/newclass] [newclass=".jarcainetag:hover"]background:#4e8bc5;color:#fff;[/newclass] [newclass=".jarcainetag2:hover"]background:#4e8bc5;color:#fff;[/newclass] [newclass=.jarcainereply1::-webkit-scrollbar]width:2px;background-color:white;[/newclass] [newclass=.jarcainereply1::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]width:2px;background-color:#4e8bc5;[/newclass]
That was Athena’s impression of sweet little Caine. His expectations were a little on the loose end of fantasy. Decorum? Finessese? It really didn’t matter who or what you were as long as you had the skill to prove you were worth the organization’s time. Following orders was the only rule around here. The organization obviously valued highly talented individuals, emphasis on the former. Most people who showed etiquette were either higher-ups participating in social events or informants, whose silver tongues were like nets.
She had no need for any of that in her line of work. He was rather assuming for someone wanting to make it big, and one day, these ideals would dig his own grave for him. Athena was slightly intrigued to see that happen, but she would have her fun before that happened. Every time this runt spoke, thousand daggers poked at the scientist’s curiosity.
She’d seen such folly a thousand times and again.
Athena sighed and shook her head, clicking her tongue in disapproval, walking past him to settle down and look him in the eye again. “ Yeah, no one cares about your loyalty until it is time to prove it. Say what you want, but right now, you're like Litleo pretending to be a Pyroar." Her smile was conniving, and vicious. Athena loved drilling people like Caine, who wanted to stay true to their ideals despite the hypocrisy of their actions. Athena raised an eyebrow “ … and now you’re just repeating and rephrasing my words. Can I charge you for copyright violations? But that would be ruudeee wouldn’t it?”
She laughed quietly. Caine was such a sweet little child, pretending to be something he was not. It was rare for the organization to accept such a pure soul, but they were built on deceit and manipulation. Caine’s attempt to drive the conversation away from the topic made it all so much sweeter. Athena waved a finger back forth. “Nuh-huh. I asked you first, No questions until I hear the right answer from you…” She leaned forward to meet Caine at eye level. “Now, I’m going to ask you once more, why is it that you need the legendaries power? And please don’t make me repeat myself again. I don’t do 'idiot'...”
[attr="class","jarcainereply1"] Caine's eyes were trained on the woman's, and he watched as she circled him and clucked her tongue. Her head shook with disapproval. Caine's own sea-green eyes narrowed. He didn't like this woman very much. However, even now, he was wondering just whether she could be of service to him or not. It was clear she was sharp - too sharp. Very intelligent. And also without any seeming sense of cruelty or justice - nearly no morals, for that matter. He could see why she'd been accepted into Team Galactic.[break][break] He didn't like Athena's comparison of himself with a Litleo. He knew his ambitions were lofty, but he still believed that he could achieve such ambitions. He gave a wry smile, returning Athena's own crafty one. Caine knew he was greedy and sought power. He didn't care that he was hungry for standing. He thought it was a healthy thing.[break][break] "Copyright? It's not copyrighted. Plus, I did say that you'd said such words. Technically, I was paraphrasing." He stayed silent as she laughed, and he simply kept the cold smile on his face. Oh, he'd nearly given up on being solicitous. Nearly. The last comment of her not playing "idiot" nearly did the trick. However, Caine rarely exploded, and his anger was usually cold, and so he could use it.[break][break] Now, should he tell the truth? She seemed to sense that he'd not given a truthful answer. He smiled and spread out a hand in a meaningless gesture. "Have you never wondered of the capabilities of legendary pokemon? On the powers of Palkia and Dialga, who control both space and time? Think of the things you could achieve with such pokemon," he said. "Myself, I'm interested on Dialga's ability of time. What would happen if you stopped time? Would there be alternate dimensions? Could you, say, prolong a life? Bring about a death? Now that is my interest." Caine took a breath. Should he continue? He'd yet to fully answer Athena's question.[break][break] "I want those two pokemon to test their powers." He kept his stare on Athena's eyes, not breaking his gaze. He wondered what she'd think, now that he'd spilled his secrets. Would she rat him out? He'd said nothing against Team Galactic. Would she take a disliking to him? The idea of having this intelligent woman against him was not a good prospect. However, he was also not sure if he'd like to have her as an ally.[break][break] "The enemy of my enemy is my friend," was his motto. Or one of them. But she didn't seem to have any common enemy with him. And Caine just wasn't sure what to do with her...
What in the world was he doing? Caine’s personality was all over the place. He obviously hadn’t thought things through very well. Power and ambition did go hand in hand, but testing the legendaries’ power? Manipulate time? All of these things made sense to her, and they did align with her purpose, which was something a scholar would love to research, but the way he strut himself as he said it, they were very vague, which irritated Athena.
It was quite obvious his facade hid his true intentions, and while Athena did not personally care for any of his dramatic back story, Athena could not help herself once her curiosity hit the highest number. Athena could see his smile was confident, and even showed signs of confidence. But he wasn’t there yet, and Athena did not care in the slightest if Caine got angry, excited or whatever emotion was boiling in his loins.
She desired for answers.
“Oh yes, testing the legendary Pokemon's strength!” She mocked in a macho voice, which wasn’t very good, but would probably take effect either way, but sighed and continued. “Who doesn’t want to use the powers of a Legendary Pokemon? No one enlists in a Team without some personal goal in mind though.” She shook her head once more. If she had to, Athena would shut down his baseless arguments one by one until he answered properly. “Now, let’s start a quick lesson! First and foremost, Stopping time will definitely not create alternate dimensions, because in theory, they already exist. Possible futures, different realities, they may cross between science and fiction quite often but they are not dismissed as non-existent. Now, if you take time and convert it to energy, it will follow the same principle. It gets used up, and returns to where it came from. This is how the term “flow of time” was coined, but this is merely a philosophy, and part of pseudoscience, which I don’t do either." She paused for a few minutes to let the little boy absorb some of that and pressed on. “ Now, most the things you want to achieve with their capture can be tested without their capture, and testing a legendary power, there are far stronger opponents out there.” She tilted her head back and walked back a few steps away from him, turning her head ever so slightly to watch him from the corner of her eye. “ Should I continue or should I tell you the real reason why you joined Team Galactic?”
[attr="class","jarcainereply1"] Caine wracked his brain for something to do. If he was perfectly honest, all he could think of was that this woman was dangerous.[break][break] Test the legendary pokemon's strength...well, he'd need to use it if he ever wanted to save Roseanne. Her life depended on it, for Arceus' sake. And all he was doing now, though it embarrassed him to admit it, was to get pummeled verbally by this researcher. [break][break] Her lesson was something he'd heard before - it was not new to him. He'd studied the theories of time several times over. He enjoyed learning of those new concepts and of the unseen. Caine hoped he wasn't seeming as if he was pushy but..."The B-Theory of time states that the flow of time is an illusion. The past, present, and future are all equal and therefore time is tenseless," he said, picking at a loose thread in his uniform. He frowned a little as the string simply unraveled more. "If time is represented as a spatial dimension, then one might be able to send information back in time without inducing paradoxes."[break][break] "As to the legendaries..." he trailed off here as he searched for the right words. His turquoise eyes glanced upwards at the ceiling before he gazed back at the Galactic researcher. He couldn't discern anything from her gaze except the need to dissect his thinking bit by bit. It was disconcerting. "Pray tell me why I have joined. I would like to hear from your point of view."[break][break] Caine wasn't trying to be touchy...well, technically, yes he was. He just wanted to believe he wasn't. Anyways, he truly wanted to hear her opinion on why he had joined...as well as how much she truly knew about him.
It was clear this boy was very wet behind the ears. Using theories and quoting statements he really didn’t understand. Was he that desperate to impress Athena? No, it looked heavier than that. Athena had come at him with murderous, if not antagonistic, intent, specially since he clearly was naive about how the world worked.
She was getting tired of his helpless attempts, however. Never liked stubbornness, but adding stupidity made it worse.
“I really don’t think you should be using quotes you don’t understand… or believe to be a plausible truth. If time is such an illusion, and past, present and future are equal, why differentiate them?” She started walking around him one more time, pacing around to properly observe his reaction. It was a intimidating technique she’d learned not too long ago. Psychology may not be her forte, but she knew a thing or two. “ I understand the concept, but it’s completely irrelevant to what you want to do. Considering you want to use Dialga’s powers, Time is therefore, not an illusion but a source of energy. Sending matter across different time spaces would require a huge amount of energy to convert, which I presume, would be proportionate to the amount matter. Time and Space may go hand in hand, but Caine, Spatial Dimensions are Palkia’s specialty, so you can’t consider Time as Space.”
She paused and sighed quite heavily. “ I really don’t care why you joined, and using Galactic’s resources for one’s benefit is the norm around here. Now, since you asked so nicely, let me rip a hole into your bad boy facade.” She finished circling back in front of him and approached him to whisper in his ear.
“You want to save someone… don’t you?”
Athena would leave Caine moments to panic, cry or whatever little boys did. She stepped back a few feet, with an evil smile on her angelic face. “ Am I correct? It’s just a theory after all. I mean, Time gives legitimacy to our existence. It is the measurement of a person's existence. What else would you with time, if not go back and undo some thing that has happened? In conjecture to the small hints in your careless use of words… perhaps regretted something in the past? Let someone die?”
Athena paused again, but resume shortly. “Don’t get me wrong, a hero using a criminal organization for their own personal goals? I find it hilarious.”
[attr="class","jarcainereply1"] Bad boy facade?[break][break] Caine hadn't really thought of trying to impress her with his knowledge, but apparently he had come off as such. And frankly, he thought he had understood those concepts quite well. Athena had ripped through that in seconds.[break][break] For some reason, Caine was just tired now. He'd been battered by this woman's words constantly, ever since he even began the conversation. And to think all he wanted to do was introduce himself to several galactic members.[break][break] However, he kept his tongue in check. He wanted to hear what she had to say about him. His true goal. Just how much did she know? He narrowed his eyes as she circled him and began to whisper in his ear.[break][break] "You want to save someone, don't you?"[break][break] Caine stiffened as Athena took a step back, but he forced himself to keep calm, to breathe normally so as not to give away his shock. Was she correct? Yes, she was. He dearly wanted to save someone. But she was wrong about one thing - he had not let someone die. And he had no intention of doing so.[break][break] And a hero? He'd never thought of himself as such. He had no intention of using whatever power he possessed to help society. That was what defined a hero, was it not? He didn't care for their lives. If they found it hard, then they'd just have to shoulder such hardships, or do something about it. That was what Caine had done. And currently, he had decided to do something about it.[break][break] "You're wrong there," he said, brushing off Athena's insults. "Don't take me for any sort of hero. I'll kill anyone who interferes with my goal. And I don't want to travel back to the past to change anything. You've read me wrongly, dear scientist."[break][break] He was tired, but he should at least finish what he started. In any event, this woman seemed more than likely to strike up the conversation again to simply irritate him. At this point, Caine knew to be extremely wary of her and her sharp mind. "You've never told me your name," he remarked after a pause.
Caine’s reaction was priceless. Somewhere along the lines of what she’d said had struck true. Athena leaned back and circled another time to stand in front of him. But like a Mandibuzz, the prey was starting to show signs of weakness.
Athena nodded in mockery, mentally noting how deep Caine was starting to dig his own grave. This was the brilliance of her breakdown theory. You started with one hypothesis, and depending on their reaction, she could dismiss improbable theories. In other words, the more they talked, the more she found out.
But it was amazing how loose Caine’s lips were, voluntarily and slowly vomiting his life’s story.
“Awww, did I get it wrong? Well, that’s one theory off the list. By the way, there are no wrong answers in science, unless you can prove them wrong…” She smiled sweetly, “But where are my manners! My name’s Athena Elder, budding scientist, a recruit just a year ago.” Athena did not extend a hand or made any welcoming gestures. Caine was lacking in so many areas that Athena deemed necessary to be part of Team Galactic. If he was going to be of any use to the Team, he’d need some thorough flogging.
“So the person you’re trying to save isn’t dead, yet? I believe we’re reaching a consensus quite soon. Could it be… a lover, or perhaps a friend? No family members?”
[attr="class","jarcainereply1"] He could tell from the look on her face that his answer amused her. He rubbed the back of his neck and tched. He'd been her plaything for quite some time now, and this conversation was always drawn back to him. Perhaps he could learn something from her. However, she was being absolutely ruthless, leaving no room for opening. He admired her for that, but he loathed it, too.[break][break] No wrong answers. Of course there were wrong answers in science, otherwise, you wouldn't ever have facts. She later made the statement clearer, so Caine didn't utter a word. Ah, her name was Athena? Like the goddess of wisdom, he thought grimly. And indeed, this woman had the wisdom, intelligence, strategy, and severity of a war goddess. She might have made an excellent intelligence gatherer in a different life. And she'd only joined a year ago? Caine's brows rose. She seemed rather settled with the team. Perhaps she adapted quickly.[break][break] This time, she hit the nail on the head. Yes, he was trying to save someone who wasn't dead yet. It just so happened to be Roseanne. He could feel the tips of his ears burning. How come she could deduce this much? He was pretty certain he hadn't given her much info to work with. Her intuition was extremely sharp, and that worried him.[break][break] Caine sighed. "Sure. Whatever you say," he replied tiredly. He was sick of apparently spewing out information and so he'd at least answer with that. Maybe now she'd stop bullying him? However it went, he knew that she'd beaten him. But he wasn't about to break quite yet.[break][break] He decided to ask her a question in turn - it was only fair to do so, as she'd basically stripped down his defenses. He was angry, but not enough to lash out without thinking clearly first. He focused his gaze on the woman's face. "What was your reason for coming to Galactic, then?" he asked. He truly wanted to know what had led this remarkable, albeit ferocious, woman to the team.
Playtime was over. Her intentions were not evil in anyway, she was just extremely curious about knowing things. That’s all. Athena knew instinctively that Caine wasn’t being honest at first. Well, she did attempt to rile him up to see what kind of person he was, and it was a successful experiment.
The scientist listed all of her findings mentally. First and foremost, Caine was very bad at handling himself. The poor boy just didn’t know when to speak, and when to hold back information. He didn’t need to answer her questions, or bite down that insult she’d thrown at him like a bone. If this was interrogation, he’d been screwed already.
It’d be bad if he was ever questioned at the Ranger facilities.
Lastly, he was so very easy to read. He defended himself at anything like his life depended on it. Athena wasn’t sure what potential the recruiters saw in him, that they apparently saw in most recruits. But she was not in that place to refute decisions from upper management… not yet anyway.
“Well, took you long enough.” She rolled her eyes at him. “If this was the Range HQ, you’d be a cute roasted little Tepig!” Athena did tilt her head at the recruit in question. He wanted to know why she’d join Galactic, now did he?
She feigned weakness while answering. “Well, if you must know, I’m a struggling researcher that Team Galactic was kind enough to pick up and provide food and a roof over her head!”
[attr="class","jarcainereply1"] Caine lowered his head slightly as the woman said he'd be a "roasted little Tepig" in the Ranger HQ. Inwardly, he fumed. He'd be able to make it out of the Ranger HQ. Anything to not be caught. Or at least, nearly anything.[break][break] And yes, he did want to know how she'd joined, why she was here. She said that it was due to Galactic giving her shelter and food, but for some reason, he didn't quite believe her. He gave Athena a dubious look as she gave a weak smile. No, there was no way this woman would ever pretend to be weak. It wasn't true to her character. And yet, she was doing so now. He shook his head - he had much to learn.[break][break] "Surely a researcher such as yourself would have fared rather well," he said. "Did you encounter some problems that say otherwise?"[break][break] Perhaps she would reveal more about herself, now? Caine was genuinely curious, and at the same time, he wanted to ensure that the attention remained diverted from himself - he'd been torn to pieces already, and he didn't want to be further ripped into shreds.[break][break][break] Short post is short :/
