Through the woods we ran Deep into the mountain sound
[attr="class","mtnsndb"]it's rather common to mistake the gym at canalave to be of ground type rather than steel, he's guilty of this mistake. he's put it off for too long thinking he was at a disadvantage. he's here to change that today, he enters the gym with a strong and positive attitude. his team's shaping up real good now, the fire team pretty much at their peak. all that's left is to train apollo, which he's already started on. not too long now until he has a full team, not long until he's respected.[break][break]
he wastes no time between challenges, hearthome only being a day ago. he steps into the gym and is met with a strong smell of which he truly dislikes. he scrunches up his nose and wonders just what exactly the smell could be. he climbs stairs, jumps over boulders, and he's soon stood on one end of a battlefield, and like all the others, themed. boulders scattered through the battlefield, terrain rocky, it's most likely because of this that the gym's often mistaken for a ground gym. again he lets the leader do their introduction as he thinks of a plan.[break][break]
he's better at formulating plans on the spot, he's quick to come up with one as he calls out ra. he's confident he only needs a maximum of two pokemon to beat this gym, and when he sees a bronzor on the opposing side his confidence is boosted. "you good, ra?" he asks, letting a hand find its way onto the dog's thick fur. ra stares across at the opponent, wagging his tail out of excitement. despite the massive demeanor of the arcanine he's still a growlithe at heart, still that small carefree puppy. it makes the ranger feel happy to know that the dog's personality is unchanged.[break][break]
"go." ra charges forward, feet thumping against the ground as his fangs caught on fire. he's quick, his speed increased with an agility as he pounces on the bronzor to deliver a fire fang. he doesn't let go, or at least tries not to but a flash cannon makes him release his grip, and an extrasensory causes him to shake his head in pain. "keep going!" words of encouragement helps the arcanine power through the pain to deliver a final fire fang to sink the bronzor.[break][break]
it's quickly replaced with a steelix, who immediately conjures up a sandstorm. it hurts both of them, the ranger brings an arm up to his face to shield his eyes. it's hard to see through the sand but he manages somehow. "dig into the ground!" ra uses his paws and slashes at the ground, soon finding his way underneath as he tunnels through. he reappears right in front of the steelix, bursting out of the ground to deliver a dig attack. the steel snake is caught off guard by it, a dragon breath releases in retaliation. it scorches ra and it's almost enough to faint him but he holds on to deliver a final fire fang. it's too much for him to handle after that and he too, like the steelix, faints.[break][break]
"you did good." he whispers as he recalls the fallen arcanine. he can't fault the arcanine for anything, ra did a good job taking down two opponents which only made the battle that much easier for ares, who's soon called out of his pokeball. his opponent is a dinosaur, but he shows no fear, doesn't back down when challenged.[break][break]
"end it."[break][break]
ares leaps forward, hopping left and right to try and confuse the dinosaur. it won't matter much longer as he reaches down low before punching upwards, using a sky uppercut that despite the dinosaur's weight, somehow manages to send it into the air. it flies for a short distance before impacting against the ground, a sizable thud echoes through the gym. it's so close to fainting, he can see it struggle to get back up to its feet. an iron defense and a flash cannon is all it would attempt. ares tanks through the damage and finishes the battle off with a final sky uppercut.
