major news alert!
witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
[break][break] the rock slide from the vibrava should have angered the serpentine pokemon but for some reason it doesn't. the gyarados remains calm even under the flying rocks, its behavior seem unnatural to say the least. it doesn't flinch nor move when north places her hand against it, it actually seems to like it as it makes a soft sound. it then slowly and carefully turns away from her, lowers itself back into the water but it keeps its head and parts of its back afloat.it sprays a torrent of water towards the cavern as if signalling for them to get on its back.[break][break] what will you do? [break][break] [break][break]
Thank fully the gyarados was calm enough not to chew off Norths hand when she went to touch it. Heck the pokemon even lowered itself back into the water and was even high enough for North to climb on from the boat where she was currently standing.
She looked around and saw all the rangers just staring at her, poised and ready to pounce in case anything happened and began to spiral into chaos.
"Its under control guys" she said with a nervous laugh and awkward wave. She turned back to the gyarados that was now forcing out water of its mouth towards the island sort of indicating that it was going to take them there.
Once again she could be called crazy for doing so, but she climbed onto the gyarados after recalling her gabite, Tempest.
The wild beast swam past North's associates who could of been possibly staring in disbelief at what happened. Although they just needed to have a little faith in the pokmon.
"Lets go guys" North said as she was whisked away by the wild gyarados to the Island in the middle of the lake.

"If you say so." Recalling his Vibrava back into it's ball, Silas reluctantly stepped onto the Gyarados' back. It didn't seem to turn on them so quickly, and instead seemed obliged to help their cause. It even appeared to know where they needed to go from here. "I hope this works." Silas didn't want to be made a fool of, let alone die out here. He looked to Sasha and gestured for her to come along, double-checking to make sure all of his poke balls were on his person. "By the way, what's your name?" He inquired to the trainer girl who had apparently bonded with the Gyarados in some fashion. It was kind of peculiar behavior for a Gyarados, but he liked to think it realized they were here to help.

Sasha nodded her head and smiled at North when the younger trainer gave them an awkward wave to let them know that the Gyarados was fine and didn't seem to want to harm them. It wasn't long before the brave trainer had hopped off of her boat and landed on the Gyarados' back. Sasha shook her head and giggled a bit. Could this get even more bizarre. She wondered to herself. She then glanced over at Silas, who had also decided to join North on the Gyarados' back. She gave both North and Silas another nodded before turning her attention back towards her Milotic. "Okay Laken, let's follow them." She ordered her Pokemon. The Milotic let out a peaceful coo before swimming beside the Gyarados, heading straight towards the cavern.
Sasha turned her attention towards Matt, her starry and golden eyes staring into his eyes for a few seconds as she greeted him with a small smile. "I'm fine. I would be doing a lot better if a certain ginger would just calm down and not get himself into anymore unnecessary danger." She teased him. "Seriously, I will be doing a lot better once we complete this mission." She stated, turning her attention away from Matt then focusing it back towards the cavern.
Matt ignored whatever the blonde was rambling about and went back in search of the legendary red gyrados. He placed a hand over his eyes, a visor of sorts to help him see the elusive creature. From legend it had scales of red, a belly of beige and fangs like daggers, how could he miss it? Well, he could quite easily, as legend says the beast doesn't show for just anyone.
"Where are you Red..." he narrowed his eyes, his vision of the immidiate area would shrink as they grew farther from the original area. Darn it I should have caught a huntail when I had the chance, could have rode it in my search.
It wasn't like he didn't want to do the mission thing, buuuut a red gyrados would be pretty bad ass to have along.
[break][break] the journey to the cave atop the gyarados is quick and safe, the water only ripples as the beast makes its way through the water. as the group approaches the island the fog would only grow thicker and the temperature colder, soon breaths would be accompanied by a puff of white cloud. the change is gradual but its definitely noticeable. the gyarados soon stops right next to the shore of the cavern, a beach surrounds it. the gyarados remains there for now, not once budging for whatever reason.[break][break] not too far away stands an entrance to a cave, though upon closer inspection its clear that there's no entrance, no hole big enough that leads inside. there are however a single small hole on the side of the rocky wall, and on top of it an inscription carved into the side that reads:[break][break] a test of courage. [break][break] the hole is large enough for an arm to fit through albeit a bit tight, but it's too dark and deep to see into. as the temperature drops lower the group is stuck there to make a decision fast, as something might be lurking in the water. [break][break] [break][break]
Matt hopped off of the Milotic and onto the shore of the cavern, he heeded the warning, and shrugged, perhaps his beast of legend was behind the door awaiting him now. "Oooo spooky hole in the wall." he rolled up his sleeve and stuck his arm on in not waiting for the others. It was the only option they had, and he wanted to waste no time to get back on the red beast's trail. It didn't matter what happened to his arm quite honestly; there was no time to be bashful or nervous. There was only one thing that mattered, one thing that was important, he had a mission to do... "Now, I wait..."

When the Gyarados came to a complete stop, Silas was quick to get off just like the other male ranger that was with them. Except unlike the redhead, Silas wasn't as eager to stick his hand in a small dark hole that read "a test of courage". "Be careful, will you?!" He exclaimed, moving quickly to their side with the intention of helping free his arm from the space should it become apparent it wasn't in their best interest to keep it in there. "Haven't you ever seen stuff like this in movies? This could've very well loped off your hand or arm, you know?" He looked urgently towards the individual, and then back to his fellow ranger. "Hey Sasha! Any idea where the entrance is?" Where they were at looked like it should have been it, but the only thing there was those words and the small hole. He wasn't very sure why he asked her, but since she had been a ranger longer than him, perhaps she was a little bit more familiar with the lake?

lake guardian raid
A cold shiver rushed down Sasha's spine as she felt the temper starting to drop and the thick fog beginning to spread even more around them. She open her mouth for a quick second and noticed the white cloud of puff escaping from her warm mouth. She tugged on her coat a little bit and focused her attention back towards the island. The group was quickly approaching the island. She could feel her heartbeat starting to increase a bit from the excitement and possible danger awaiting them inside of the mysterious cave. The Gyarados soon came to a halt once it had approached the edge of the shoreline. Matt didn't waste anything hopping of Laken's back and rushing towards the massive cave. Sasha shook her head as she returned her Milotic back into her orb before walking behind Matt.
She noticed Matt examining the small hole and before the golden-haired ranger could say anything to the cadet, he had already decided to shove his arm inside of the small hold attached to the rocky wall. "For crying out loud. Could you have at least waited for the group to make a decision together?" She asked in annoyance. She shook her head and watched Matt's arm moving around in the small opening, hoping that the inexperience ranger wouldn't end up with a missing limb or two. Sasha glanced over and Silas and shook her head. "I'm not completely sure, but I feel that this dark hole is the key to the entrance somehow." She replied, her golden eyes scanning over their surroundings for a few seconds before focusing back in on Matt.
'This guy had no sense of danger at all or he just did not care about his own well being, either way North liked it. Almost as if he would laugh in the face of danger itself if he had the chance to. Whilst North was impressed, the other two rangers were sceptical about shoving his arm into such a small hole.
This must of been the place the place they needed to go since they had riden and followed the wild gyarados there. Clmbing off the pokemon North went over to her fellow compatriots and stood waiting, and watching to see whether something happened.
However getting off the serpentine dragon she once again put her hand on its head as a 'thank you.' It would seem most appropriate to say goodbye the same way she greeted it.
[break][break] when matt stuck his arm through the hole nothing would happen, only silence that rung through the air. and just when it looked like nothing was going to happen a cool breeze of air would flow past the group. it only takes a split second before thick ice surrounds the arm that's stuck through the hole, freezing it completely solid. any attempts to pull or push would fail, the boy was completely stuck.[break][break] another hole would open up after that, the rock magically breaking to form another. then an inscription would be carved into the side of the wall again, rock cracking as if it was being written on. soon it reads:[break][break] a test of virtue.[break][break] what will you do? [break][break] [break][break]
Matt looked at his arm, he felt it get... Encased? In ice, he was stuck... Trapped like some sort of beast, the ice holding him put. "What the..." he pulled on his arm, once, twice, three times. He was stuck good... "Ain't this about a bitch..." he ignored the second forming hole, still trying to free himself.
"oookay my arm is cold, really cold... Does anyone have a jacket I can borrow... It's freezing in here." He stopped trying to free himself, "I'm gonna have to burn it out... Blaziken, stand by!" with his free arm he released his fire/fighting Pokemon.
"Alright, Aries I know this is a weird request, but I need you to help me get out of this wall. One three we're going to burn my arm... I mean I know we can't see the ice, but best scenario I slip out, worst you burn my arm off." he gulped.
"One... Two... Three! Flamethrower!" Aries tilted his head at his trainer, "D-don't look at me like that, just do it." he pointed at his arm, he turned his head the other way and closed his eye shut.

lake guardian raid
Sasha blinked as she watched Matt attempt to remove his frozen arm away from the hole. "Obviously that's not going to work. We're going to have to think of another plan." She spoke in a calm voice as she walked over towards the cadet. Her index finger wrapped around her small chin as she started to think of a possible solution. It wasn't long before a second hole appeared not too far away from Matt. Her glittering, golden eyes shifting over towards the new hole. She read the words 'test of virtue' written across the rocky wall. She had a feeling that someone else would probably have to stick another body part through the hole. Her attention quickly moved away from the new hole, after hearing Matt order his Pokemon to use a fire-type attack to free his arm. "Wait, I don't know if that's going to work either." She told Matt, making eye contact with him for a few seconds. From the looks of things, Matt Pokemon didn't seem to want to follow his order and Sasha didn't blame him for not wanting to do so.
"I have a feeling that we may be the keys to opening up this cavern, but I'm not a hundred percent sure just yet." She told the rest of the group as she finally turned her attention back towards them. "We could either look around until we find a clue or we could use our courage and virtue to push through. If no one else wants to chance it then I will do it myself."Sasha stated in a calm voice. Matt had shown his courage by being the first to move towards the ocean without fear and sticking his arm through the hole when he had no idea what would happen to him next. She then focused her attention towards North. If anyone had shown any virtue today, then it definitely would have been her. North's strong sense of moral told her not to attack the Gyarados and her action surely stood out to Sasha. However, if North didn't want to test her virtue, then she would do so herself.

"You're probably right." Silas looked to Sasha and then to the others. He wasn't going to be sticking any hands in these holes, however. He wasn't convinced enough to risk his own life and limb. Not yet, at least. It may have been a bit selfish of him, but hey, Silas couldn't do any good as a ranger if he was dead, now could he.
"Either of you can have the honor. I'm not going to do it, though." Silas stood before the second hole and gestured to it slightly, a reluctant smile forming on his lips. he wasn't sure if any of them were brave enough. Well, besides Sasha. She seemed adamant on figuring out this puzzle of sorts, which was pretty admirable.
Something did not seem right, and the suspicions were proved to be correct, as the guy who put his arm int the small hole started complaining that he was stuck, frozen to be precise.
Sasha's analysis was probably correct, and that was one thing she did not want to do. Stick her arm in the other hole that mades its appearance known after Matt put his own in. North look at Silas when he said it was upto her or Sasha to put their arm in there.
"Thats one thing I wont do. Sasha you have my respect for doing this, as does the gentleman over, but I would rather not do it"
All that was left now, was for test of virtue to be fulfilled so the group could advance to the next stage
