YOU SHOULD'VE KNOWN BETTER THAN TO MESS WITH ME, HONEY
Today was an off day. One of the few rare ones that some of the members of team rocket were allotted at that. The purpose of it was simple enough to guess: allow the members of rocket to mingle with the rest of the region and integrate where need be. They were not explicitly told this it was Elizabeth's best guess as to why someone like her was sent out to do what she pleased. Nevertheless it worked out for her because there was a certain event she was intrigued about. It was a simple boating event where one had to pay to rent a exclusive express yacht for a day and essentially sale on the open ocean together. The opportunity to get in with some rather well off folks seemed too juicy to pass up.
The streets near the docks were crowded and boisterous. Elizabeth anticipated no less from the attraction. Now the problem was tracking down and finding some sucker to get in with. While Elizabeth looked as if she belonged there, with her looks and coordinated style, the blonde maintained an appearance of being lost. Most of the men there were either moderately old or already with someone else, both of which were troublesome issues to come across. Still there had to be at least one decent prospective sap.

you're safe.
jubilife was a close call to say the least, but he's fine, rocket's fine, everything's fine. decent work has earned him a day off but not without orders attached. socialize, mingle, blend in. a new region meant a different culture, different people. he needs to get familiarized with the region, the cities, and more importantly get used to the life here.
it was funny, he's never had much of one anyways, a life. rocket has been his primary focus, his actions always watched, always controlled. at times he longs for freedom but just like every other time he'd get drawn back in, reminded of his mission, his goals, his training. there was no breaking free, he realizes this by now, but it doesn't hurt to dream.
canalave's similar to vemilion, both near the sea, both having ports. he likes it, finds it peaceful, finds the scent of salt in the air relaxing. he decides to take a walk near the port, a simple white shirt suited the warm weather. a crowd gathers at the side, all excited about something, he's not so sure what exactly. but he investigates, walking over to stand near the back of the crowd.
his tall frame makes him stick out in the crowd, which isn't exactly the best trait to have for a rocket but he's off duty, which is fine. he crosses his arms, finding the boat trip interesting. too bad he had nobody to go with.

It looks as if the savior appeared. Actually target was probably the better word for it as within a matter of minutes, the blonde would catch a glimpse of a younger looking male figure. As always Elizabeth appraised him from afar. He had a nice face and his stature was respectable. It was difficult to believe that they were standing by themselves. She expected some other woman to be following close behind but after a few moments with a lack of accomplice - she hummed to herself. "Looks like we have a winner," she'd say to herself softly as she ruffled her hair a bit. While the man was acceptable for Elizabeth's tastes there was no telling his financial status based on looks alone. It would be unfortunate if the trip became worthless yet in some ways it would be better to waste it with someone intriguing rather than alone.
With this in mind she'd look away momentarily in the case that her glances were noticed. Navigating the crowds to where he stood on the other hand was rather effortless. Her training more or less made it so she was able to mingle rather easily to get to where she wanted to go. In a few minutes she'd be able to walk over at arms length of him. She'd tap his shoulder with her index finger lightly and smiled, "Hey There~" A sweetened tone and a charming expression waited. Close up, his looks from afar were not deceiving. There was a pause as the woman looked over him again. It was as if something was familiar about him. It took a moment to snap out of it and at that Elizabeth would attempt to recover quickly. "Sorry to interrupt. Are you waiting for somebody?" The answer better be no.

try to enjoy yourself.
mother's words brought a smile to his face. at times like these it was easy to get lost in missions, in rocket and their goals. but he was taught better, raised better to know when to separate work and pleasure. today might have been a mixture of both but he'd still try his best to enjoy it. he stares out at the scenery, then at the people, his ears picking up soft chatters and conversations. some stories were nice to listen to, and some not so much.
he's lost in his thought until a finger tapped against his shoulder, snapping him out of his trance. "hey," he greets as he turns to see a blonde. the suddenness of it brings a smile to his face. "no, i'm here by myself," he replies. then it hits him, that he won't have to go on this boat trip by himself.
"why do you ask?" he asks. he's not oblivious but the thought just hasn't occurred to him yet. he extends out a hand, "lucas," he introduces regardless of her response. his gaze shifts back to the crowd and to the boats. "that seems nice," he says, gesturing at the boats. with no other plans he might as well try it out, even if it meant taking half of his pay away that he earned from the most recent mission.
"do you have any plans? the queue's not too long."

As her hand retracted from tapping at the man's shoulder, she'd make eye contact as soon as he turned to acknowledge her. To her somewhat mild surprise the man replied to her greeting with less shock that what was expected. Instead there was a smile there and so soon at that. The woman could not help but think about how innocent he looked with that reaction. As she placed her hands together behind her back, the answer she wanted to hear was also delivered directly into her lap and her smile would grow from that satisfaction. This was going better than she had anticipated.
When he questions why she had asked, she wouldn't hide her motivation. There was no reason to. "I thought that someone as cute as you wouldn't be alone." Keeping one hand behind her back to maintain the image of innocence, she brought the other forward to place it in his. Her grip was virtually nonexistent and she kept her touch as delicate as possible. Making a mental note as to the man's name, she spoke hers "Elizabeth." As she dropped the handshake, her gaze would be redirected towards the open ocean as Lucas began gesturing outwards. The sight of the boats scattering across the blue waters was enough to re-motivate the blonde, not that she needed it. She parted her lips to say something to suggest boarding one together but almost as if it was a scripted event the man asked for her plans first.
Did he know?
The thought lingered but she didn't pursue the thought. "If you don't mind little old me tagging along then I'd love to." Her response, as always, was coated in sugar as the were delivered. Taking the liberty of taking the lead, she'd bring both of her hands forward to grab hold of his and smiled to him once again. "Let's go~" She didn't want to pull him along on the off chance that he would find that unpleasant but she did make the gesture to urge him forward.

her compliment catches him off guard, feeling a twist in his stomach that was quickly controlled. he laughs it off, "i am, unfortunately. but not anymore i guess," he replies with a smile. his keeps his handshake light and gentle as he listens for a name. "elizabeth," he repeats, more to himself to remember. there isn't anything off about her, nothing that he should be wary off, not yet anyways. plus he has no reason to have his guard up, nobody knew who he was.
there was something oddly similar about her, like he's seen her before somewhere. he ignores the feeling for now, nodding as she accepted his offer. "i don't mind at all," he replies. he flinches at the touch of her hand, but yet he lets her before taking many steps forward down towards the dock. it's been so long that the touch of another feels strange to him.
the docks are somewhat busy but it was more so because of people crowding, just looking. once past the crowd the actual queue for the boats wasn't that long. a minutes wait was all that it took before being led onto a boat of their own. he steps on carefully, it's been a while since he's been on a boat or out at sea. he might have been just a bit nervous, the tone in his voice giving that away.
"so what brings you to canalave?" he asks in an attempt to take his mind off of things.

He was repeating himself. How cute. So far the blonde was feeling quite satisfied with her choice in company, her smile not dropping an inch. Even as he repeated her name he looked so innocent. Surely this day was going to be fulfilling. As she grabbed his hand with her own, she'd noticed the flinch instantaneously as it happened. Her aqua irises eyes him cautiously to find some hint as to the reaction. Instead she noticed he didn't pull away from her. In fact he seemed to ease into her touch. How curious. Was he not used to interacting with women like this?
Now she could have stood here and examined the interaction all day but that would have been no fun. So instead they'd walk together in the line for renting the boats. She kept her hand in his for the duration to the point that they had arrived to the front of the line. It was only then that the woman would let go of his hand to allow him to get on the boat undeterred before she would do the same. Elizabeth was no stranger to boats and boarded with ease. As the boat was set to cast off into the open water, the woman was find a seat next to Lucas and sit by his side shamelessly.
His question brought to mind excuses that she would frequently use during missions that were not her main goal. It was a problematic habit in scenarios like today and she would buy herself time by giggling at the question instead. Was there any harm telling a vague for of the truth? Likely not. Better than wasting her excuses and having to keep up with them. "I had the day off and I heard they were doing a boating thing in Canalave." She'd place an index finger to her chin in exaggerated thought. Shrugging this aside afterwards, she'd lean towards him slightly. "Figured I should enjoy myself and so far it's working. I got to meet you after all." She'd wink at him and then move to grab hold of his arm teasingly. What she wanted to see was more of his reactions. It was less about how close she got to him but the rise would likely be worth the trouble. "What about you? You're clearly not from around here. Tell me about yourself."

hand-holding's innocent, it's something strangers do, right? he argues with himself, tells him that this means nothing, only a distraction to take his mind off issues. he feels somewhat more comfortable when they board the boat, though that sensation he felt before was just replaced by the fear of the boat sinking. an irrational fear at best, he realizes that, so it quickly fades as he sits down.
he listens to her responses and nods accordingly, head tilted at her to show his interest in what she was saying. her comments throws him off completely, causing a chuckle to escape his lips. "i'm not that good of company, really," he says. it all becomes too clear what this was, her advances recognized by the man. he smiles, shifting in his seat to move slightly away. he lets her keep her reach on his arm for now as he welcomes the question.
"day off as well, and what makes you say that? i could be from canalave," he laughs. he doesn't mind telling her about himself, just as long as he keeps it vague. "i'm from ecruteak in johto. have you been? it's beautiful." home always brings back good memories, the thought of mother brings a smile to his face.
"you also don't look like you're from here," he comments, eyes examining her features before making a guess. "kanto?" he guesses. he quickly glances past her and at the scenery, finding it rather beautiful.

While she was pining closer, the attempt to scoot away was noticed. It was subtle yet told the woman that this was too much. Of course she had known that but it did not change the mild disappointment that came with it. He had not said anything that would dissuade her from continuing and thus she kept in generally close proximity of Lucas. "I don't think you give yourself enough credit," she replied, leaning back in her seat a bit. Her gaze that had remained on the brunette since first getting on the boat was now cast outwards towards the horizon. Inhaling deeply to take in the salted air, she imagined how to respond to his question. Somehow stating 'I could just tell' did not appear to be the best route to take. "You looked shaky getting on the boat," she'd turn to wink at him but would turn away abruptly afterwards. It was easily miss-able and it was meant to be that way.
Ecruteak was a city that Elizabeth knew of but had never visited. As a rocket member, the extent of her reach and ability became limited to Kanto. Hearing the man speak of the place in what sounded to be a reminiscing manner however made her chuckle lightly. "I can't say that I have. You sound like you're fond of the place." If the words were not enough to show that then the purity of his smile would solidify that. It made her wonder why the man was even in Sinnoh if that had been the case. There was no reason to pry into the subject and it was a good chunk of information to go off of as is. He'd make a similar comment about not being a local and she had every intention of laughing it off. Even lying if need be as she was taught never to reveal too much.
That said she's taken aback briefly by the guess her origin, the region's name feeling more like a distance memory. That was what Elizabeth had wanted - to push back the memories of Kanto and never look back. Of course she could hardly deny him this fact due to abrupt silence on her part. "Good guess. I'm impressed, most people guess Kalos." She'd offer another smile up on her expression that was different from the ones she flashed several times previously. "What gave it away?"
Post by LUCAS BLACKBURN on Aug 21, 2016 18:02:57 GMT
"you should visit it, it's nice,"it's home. he misses it, the feeling of mother's embrace, of autumn leaves falling, of performances at the kimono theater. he was taken away too young he feels, he wasn't ready to part with his childhood. but he understands why he was taken away, he needed to be bred, trainer for rocket, for father. or maybe that's just the rocket in him speaking, the part of him that's been drilled in that's trying to justify wrongful actions.
he crosses his arms and looks at her with a hint of playful triumph when he guesses correctly. he shrugs his shoulders. "just a hunch, i guess," he smiles before turning back out to the ocean. he sticks his head out off the edge of the boat before letting it hang low, fingertips desperately trying to reach for the water. but to no avail his arm remains there, feeling the nice splash the boat makes against the surface as it travels.
"what are you doing in sinnoh then? it's clearly not just for the boating event," he asks, head rotates back to face her. now he analyzes her facial expressions, her movements, trying to understand where she's coming from or what her intentions are, because nobody has ever approached him like that. he feels like he should know her, her features oddly familiar. so he asks a question, "have we met before? sorry, bad memory. where'd you live in kanto?"

"One day I will," she'd offer those words as a pleasantry. Unless Johto was Team Rocket's next target she could hardly imagine herself going there. It was not as if she had free reign to go to whichever region she pleased whenever she'd like. There was no lack of desire to travel to see sights and it was unfortunate that she'd likely be stuck at this region for a long time until Team Rocket's plans were complete. No used crying over spilled milk when in Team Rocket though. She would mimic his smile when he claimed that his guess was a hunch, mentally questioning if that was true as she watched him reach a hand over the side of the boat. His hand never reached the water but the gesture suggested... longing?
There was something off. She knew it but couldn't place a finger on it - which pissed her off. This was her specialty and she wasn't about to admit defeat. She especially wasn't going to admit defeat on her day off. With some baseless motivation the woman thought over what to do next. As she had, Lucas would break the silence first. "I could ask you the same thing," she reflected quickly amidst some giggles. What he said did not throw her off as much as it might should have. It was a question she had expected when she was on the job and so she always had answers up her sleeve. "I got transferred here for work as a liaison for my company. Getting used to the region is harder than I thought." Yeah she was no liaison even in team rocket but it was a half truth at least. Now she expected him to return the favor and speak on why he was in Sinnoh as a Johto native.
Yet again he took the reins of the conversation. He speaks on having met her previously to which she took a pause. It was the same reaction she had at first and his question reaffirmed this feeling. With all the people she had interacted with in the past it was hard to place him among them. Had she even interacted with him before? She felt as if she would have remembered due to how intrigued she was now. "I think I would have remembered meeting someone as cute was you," she voiced innocently. Bad memory, huh? Elizabeth causally moved back and gently rested her hand on top of his as she looked directly into his eyes. Of course she had noticed his looks towards her and they were not the lecherous ones she was used to. It looked much like how she expected it to look being monitored. For now she'd pretend not to notice. "Saffron but I traveled around during my teenage years. You think we met there?" The question was two sided. Based on his response she could have made a fair assumption that he visited Kanto at some point. As for why it would be up in the air.

"me?" he says in response. he retracts his hand off the edge of the boat and rubs the back of his neck. "just sightseeing," he replies, this time with a complete lie. there's no way to play around with the truth though he was tempted to use her excuse. something doesn't sit right with him, something about her, something about her company. he normally has good intuition but he doesn't push just yet.
he laughs at her compliment because it's all too clear now what this was. it's a game. her behavior's all too flirty for a random stranger, she wants something from him, information maybe? he's not sure, but he's determined to find out. this time he doesn't flinch under her touch, keeps his hand steady and still.
instead he returns a smile and a response of his own. "we could have," he replies. he remembers being taken there as a child. he didn't even realize what city he was in, he barely left the compound. "i think i would remember a face like yours." harmless flirting to manipulative, confuse. but he doesn't take it further than that.
"what did you say your company did again? why'd they move over?" he asks, making it all too obvious on purpose. his eyes remain locked with hers, as if challenging her. but despite this he still has a playful smile on his face.

Sightseeing. It was the most used and common excuse in the book which almost always indicated a lie. The corners of her lips that held her smile wavered slightly at this. The act only further reinforced the fact that this man was hiding something. "Sightseeing? So you're only visiting?" she'd ask as her tone lowered to show disappointment. As his laugh comes through it became obvious that this interaction was no longer developing in the way she wanted. Even her touch no longer stirred any fruitful reactions from the brunette, eyeing him as he looked over her. While she did keep up her smile, in the pit of her gut she wanted to break something. How dreadfully disgusting.
It was her turn to get drilled for information it seemed and while this was part of her job, she did not appreciate having to field these on her day off. His whole mindset seemed to shift and he was even reflecting one of her flirtatious remarks. Admirable maybe but Elizabeth could only stare back with no response to it. The shift reminded her of how they were taught to do this at a young age when recruited into the Rockets. What were the chances though? These questions were getting more unnecessarily in depth however. At least the responses were easy, "We trade goods internationally and I never said we moved over." She eyed him carefully as she said this to see if this would spur any response. He was challenging her and she knew it. On the other hand it was not necessary to elaborate on it any further on his subject however she did not want to keep going back to this question like it meant anything significant. "Only a few employees were exchanged between the regions we are based in and I'm the liaison for our headquarters in Kanto while I'm here in Sinnoh."
This was getting tedious and Lucas here was still giving off vibes of familiarity. If anything reassured her of this, it was the way he bounced back. "What's your last name? Maybe that will jog my memory." Perhaps she'd try one final time for any recollection from the list of names she had gathered in her mind.

the combination of the moving boat and this odd feeling of familiarity in his stomach makes him feel anxious for answers. his questions returned with answers that only seem to make things more unclear. her response sets him off, her company seems too vague that it just doesn't sit well with him. training and experience takes over, the part of him that's trained to infiltrate, to gather information through various methods. he needs to know.
"blackburn."
the surname should be familiar to some rocket members, especially the older ones. his father's a decorated admin, and lucas was one too in a different time. much has changed now, things are more complicated and more lies have been spread. despite that the one thing that he couldn't seem to shake is the high expectations they had for him, solely because of his last name. the blackburn son. a fucking disappointment.
he takes charge of the situation now, his hand now grasping around hers as a smile dances across his lips. his grip made sure that she couldn't worm her way out. he now shifts in his seat, body turning to face her as he leans in closer to her ear. any attempt by her to create distance would end with him moving closer and his grip around her hand tighter. he lets out a soft, slow breath right next to her ear as he whispers.

"Blackburn?" she'd repeat the name as if in disbelief. As someone that specialized in information, Elizabeth was well aware of the name Lucas Blackburn. At one point he was at the height of the rocket ladder and if she recalled correctly then this same person was one that betrayed everything that team rocket stood for with his partner. She didn't care to think about it on her day off really and on that note she wouldn't delve to deeply into it. The blonde had never met the man directly in person. A few passing glimpses perhaps, but nothing as elaborate as this. Withholding from saying much else for now, she'd allow the brunette his attempt at taking the reins from her.
His grip intensified and the woman knows that it was meant to keep her from escaping. Not that she wanted to anyway. This was essentially perfect as in the same way he was stopping her, she could do the same. The smile was one that Elizabeth was growing more familiar with as he'd become more forward with her. She wanted to giggle as he moved close, the breath to her ear a nice touch if he wanted to be seductive. It was her specialty after all. "So you're the one that everyone has been talking about. You're cuter than I expected. I'll give you that," her voice conversely was several times louder than his whisper. If he was challenging her to something like this then the woman would be all for it.
She'd turn her body to face him as well and follow along with his actions, moving her body closer towards him. Pressing her chest against his body, she'd take her free hand and run it through his hair slowly in a caress. Her innocent smile would shift to a somewhat devious one as she kept her eye contact with the man. "If I said I wanted you, what then?" Playful yet serious. Her grip on Lucas' hand was deceptively lax compared to his own. He needed to think he still had the upper hand on her. Wasn't his partner at the time a girl? "Would your girlfriend get angry?"
