leah might be dependent, maybe even sick to her stomach, but she's not entirely insane. she doesn't want to be stuck in this building, with only a small window letting sunlight in. she fumbles awkwardly to the side, using the absol for support as she lets the ranger inch closer, the woman ever so clamly holding her gun. but she feels sick, seeing liam shot. he didn't derve to get shot, was the first thought that echoed through her mind, and all the other resounded in agreement.
liam's maniacal laugh has her scared, and she stares at him in brief horror. adrian's words were drowned on liam's, and she wondered briefly, finally allowing herself this thought, who was in the basement. was it adrien? she didn't want to think, she didn't want to know. "don't hurt him," she said, softly her voice a tiny whisper and she grabbed onto the soft white fur of the absol, something so drastically different from the cold floor she was used to. leah's head was hurting. she didn't want to leave, but at the same time she longed to remove herself from this terrible cell, and through it all, she looked at liam.
then slowly, she stood up, and left, saying a simple: "goodbye" as she went. she probably owed him that much, she thought.
his leg twitched with every passing second, blood not seeming to stop pouring out despite the pressure he exerted on it. he struggled to find a way out of this; a look behind him at the window, at the door, then back at the ranger, who still had her gun pointed at him. he didn't appreciate the ranger literally getting in between him and leah, but he was not at a position to retaliate. all he could do was watch, and bleed ever so slowly.
this was no ranger to be trifled with, her posture, her tone all indicated that. he watched as leah stood up with the help of the absol, and it pained him to see her walk away, her goodbye not doing anything good for him. when she his attention returned to the ranger and more importantly the gun, and how easy it would've been for her to just pull the trigger now.
"how'd you find me?" he asked, though he knew he had to comply with her. there were still three other limbs she could shoot at. so he shifted on the ground, rotating to lay face down, hands brought up behind his head, fingers soon interlocking with each other. he made things much easier for her now to cuff him, and he was dreading that very moment.
but he had no other choice.
"who gave you my number?" he asked. there was no other way she could have found him; leah and jason's phones were both destroyed, their ranger gear destroyed too, and this place was abandoned, he made sure of it. so that only left himself, and there was no way the rangers had his number. so he guessed.

IT'S THE SAME OLD STORY BUT YOU NEVER GET IT RIGHT
As her pokemon exited the room one by one with the Arkwright girl in tow, Adrian felt some momentary relief enter her body. This ordeal was still not over but that was one of the two accounted for. That became one less thing to worry about and she trusted her pokemon to handle the second. It was now this piece of shit lying on the floor that was left. She would hear the fleeing girl's request not to hurt him further than she already had, but that was not exactly negotiable. The ranger would spare the blonde a glance at her words but would not respond for or against the plea.
As luck would have it, two of them were all that was left in the dreadful room. Finally there was some more compliance as the man did what he was ordered to do. Strangely there was no joy from seeing the reportedly dangerous man crumbling in front of her. Not having time to take the sight in, Adrian approached him cautiously. He'd ask another question - a series of the actually - and the ginger scoffed. "You still think you're in any place to be asking me questions? It doesn't matter how I fucking found you." Her aggressive tone increased as she lowered her gun. There was no way that she was answering his question and he could keep asking them right up to the point he was rotting in their jail cells for all she cared.
Lowering her body, she'd pin the man to the ground with her knee as she put away the gun out of his sight. While she was not particularly heavy, she did push down with force though she was careful not to aggravate his wounded leg in the process. As she reached onto her belt for the handcuffs, her body naturally flinched for a second as Liam uttered the name. Adrien. She clenched her teeth. There was no way that him knowing would even matter anymore but it still irritated the woman as she pulled out the handcuffs and forcibly secured them around Liam's wrist. "You're under arrest. You can remain silent for all the good that'll do you." He could try to resist but he wouldn't get far with that wounded leg of his.
with his body now pressed against the ground by a strong knee he found it difficult to breathe, panting at the floorboards, the side of his face resting irritably against it. he felt the metal against his skin, soon tightening, restricting any sort of movement. despite her words he could hear another voice tugging away at him, like it was trying to get his attention.
and then it hit him.
a singular psychic pokemon was downstairs, hidden in the confines of jason's room. it hit him that he never recalled it, and that it must've been telepathically linked this whole time, and for a moment he felt sympathy for the alakazam, to have felt the pain he felt.
i'm sorry.
he complied with the ranger's orders, remaining silent, not saying a single word. but he didn't need to. his mind went wild with thoughts, but he isolated them enough to send a message. a small smile would appear on his lips with the realization that things might not end here after all.
suddenly the ground below them would shake before parts of it crumbling, forming a sizable hole not to far from them, the cause of a PSYCHIC, no doubt. when the dust cleared an alakazam would appear in the same room as them, having climbed up from down below.
get her off.
thoughts and messages were quick, the psychic pokemon immediately pointing one of its spoons at adrian. a PSYCHIC would engulf the ranger before tossing her over to the other side of the room. a less powerful PSYBEAM would break apart the cuffs around his hands, forcing him to rotate and crawl towards the window.
with the ranger down across the room he couldn't help but stop for a second, his escape attempt halted but anger and annoyance. no more mind messages, this time his voice carried with it a tone of ruthlessness.
"attack her."
a DAZZLING GLEAM came, a bright flash would attempt to blind her, liam averted his eyes away, closing them. a PSYCHIC would pick the ranger up off the ground before being tossed into the wall. and then again. and when he was sure that she was down the alakazam would stop.
the pain in his leg was intense but hands still found the one much needed pokeball. he struggled to climb up, but once he did he'd stick a hand out of the window before releasing the winged dinosaur.
a PROTECT would come from the psychic type, leaping in front of liam should the ranger try anything. a barrier was now held up which allowed liam to climb out of the window and onto the dinosaur. should she shoot the barrier would take maybe a bullet or two but after that there would be an alakazam in the way, willing to sacrifice itself for its trainer should it come to that.
if not then liam would recall the alakazam before flying away, drops of blood raining down from the sky as he made his escape.

IT'S THE SAME OLD STORY BUT YOU NEVER GET IT RIGHT
He wasn't saying anything and as the cuffs were placed on, the ranger couldn't help but think this was too easy. The last piece was to confiscate his pokeballs to reduce his chances for escape. As she reached down to empty his pockets, a rumbling underneath her would give her pause. For a moment she wondered what that was and if her pokemon were alright. Some strains of thought about the other criminals that were wanted flashed in her mind raising concerns that Liam was not alone. Yet that was blown away in the same manner the floor opened up nearby. The debris that flew from the attack caused Adrian to instictively raise her arms to protect her head and face. From behind that cover her eyes widened watching the psychic pokemon climb out from the hole.
She'd reach back to grab a pokeball, the gun, anything to stop what was coming next but before she knew it the pressure of psychic energy was against her body. The feeling of being flung in such a way was a first for the woman, her body skidding across the aged floorboards. The pain from the impact of hitting the floor was not terrible and Adrian was attempting to recover from the attack. Her emerald eyes darted to where Liam was despite whatever dulled pain she was feeling only to hear the next words and lights flashing in her eyes. Everything went white for her as the attack temporarily blinded her, leaving her helpless to defend against the Alakazam's powers that repeatedly tossed her around like a rag doll.
It took a few tries, the force of each throw against the walls of the building no doubt creating more and more bruises to form on her skin. Adrian wouldn't scream in pain but she was most definitely hurting by the time it was over. The final time had her slumped on the ground, cringing in pain and gasping for air after the wind was knocked out of her. From her disheveled state she'd look to the Alakazam who moved to protect his trainer from harm as the bleeding man was crawling out of the window. She wanted to stop it. She had to try and stop him.
Her right hand reached for the first thing that she felt on her belt which happened to be the gun rather than the pokeballs. She'd turn over onto her back, knowing that if she showed any signs of recovery the same fate would befall her again. From there she'd be able to shoot from that position. No longer concerned for taking him in alive, her finger pulled the trigger again and again. Unloading the entire clip of ammo in the gun, the first few were stopped by the Alakazam and she expected that to stop there. To her utter horror the pokemon did not move after the protect had run out and the bullets had been stopped by the pokemon's own body.
"Fuck," she hissed the word as she tried to pull herself up. The sharp pain in her side stopped her from doing so and as she feel back to the floor. Watching helplessly as Liam escaped - she'd clench her teeth. Both her body and her pride was wounded but that meant fairly little as her thoughts shifted to Adrien. If Arkwright was already being targeted so much by Liam then this would only make things worse for him if that was even possible. She could only hope that the bullet in his leg would deter him.
The rescue mission was concluded. One way or another the two hostages were safe for now. Almost as if affirming this, Adrian's Pyroar had run back into the room and helped the battered ranger to her feet. An aggravated sigh escaped her lips as she leaned on her pokemon for support. "Fuck," she'd say it again and again - as much as she need to. Yet she'd remember her place soon and pull out her phone, pressing a few thing and then bringing it to her ear. "This is Adrian Mastry. I need two paramedics at my location asap." She had done what she had come here to do and she should have been satisfied with that.
