Trains zoomed past the platforms, blue threads sweeping sideways with the air as Adrien stood solemnly at the side, his miserable demeanour evident enough that fellow commuters would steal a worried side-ward glance at him. He'd just brush aside their stares; he was broken but far from ending himself. His world wasn't stable but it was safe. He had his secrets, his vices, his weaknesses. But he had family. At least that was what he thought until it all came crashing down just days ago. The Head of the Arkwright's family had been pronounced death - his life support unplugged and foul play evident.
And it hurt more when you knew the assailant.
Family was his greatest weakness and Liam had finally seemed to have figured that out. Adrien wanted revenge yet he couldn't dispose of those few morals that without would turn him into a monster. That would end everything Liam cherished. But alas, he was still weak and could only lust for Liam's blood alone.
His good eye would look up as an international train would slowly come to a halt at the platform. Kalos International Expression. A sigh escaped his lips as he cleared his throat, adjusted his tie and put up a soft smile. She was coming after a whole two years. He had to smile. He had to smile for her.

give me therapy, I'm a walking travesty... but I'm smiling at everything.
kalos had been beautiful, but a part of its beauty was the fact that it was ephemeral, temporary. it was a beautiful respite from tradition and obligation, a neverending stream of power and possibility. but it had taken one phone call from adrien for her to long for nothing more than home, for the cold to settle in briskly and silently and for her to want nothing that to travel all those miles back to sinnoh, back to the dreary cold mountains where the warmth of home awaited her.
she got off the train at the platform she said she would, all that she had carried stuffed into a simple pale turquoise suitcase and her dark brown purse slung almost carelessly over her shoulder. indeed, the stray strands of gold and her heavy lidded red eyes betrayed the faint smell of kalos and all its grandeur that still clung to her clothes. she walked over to adrien, the suitcase following along as she towed it. she set it aside and looked up at him, pursing her lips and then giving him a soft smile that mimicked his own.
she reached up to sling her arms over him one on each shoulder as she'd kiss him on either cheek. "hi," she'd whisper, barely audible among the speeding trains and constant bubble of human interaction and travel, the sounds of more suitcases rolling and people chattering excitedly.
she pulled back, eyes blinking away the wetness as her smile grew stronger, reassured. they'd be okay. they'd get through this together. her hand fell awkwardly at her side, but before they fell completely she caught onto his hand and gave it a little squeeze, trying to gain some reassurance, even though, for now, his smile would be enough.

The doors would slide open and from the very few seated in the first class cabin would emerge a young lady; hard to miss, her petite features and extravagant sense of fashion had her stand out from the plebeian crowd. Another huff as she approached, the man nervous for inexplicable reasons as paranoia hit hard.
It was Grandfather first...what if she's next?
"Hey," A almost inaudible greeting that reciprocated Leah's own, the man nearly swallowing in that sole word. A hand reached out to her upper-back and he leaned forward, a half-hug of sorts as his lips parted to form a genuine smile. She was home and despite his worries, Adrien was elated to have her back.
Reclining back, the high-ranking Galactic officer would pause, brows would momentarily furrow as she squeezed his arm and eyes fixed on her upset visage as he smiled back emptily. Tch. This wasn't going to do. He wasn't going to show weakness, especially not when she needed him.
Time to change the mood.
"Hey, why the long face?" Adrien would chuckle as he picked up her suitcase, one hand instinctively reaching for his chest as he'd attempt to keep it as upright as possible. Straightening up, a finger would reach to tilt her chin upward gently, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"You're gonna look like a hag if your makeup gets runny, y'know? Although, it may just be an improvement~" A tease as he scoffed. She had the right to get mad at him if she so wished.

she heard the inaudible hey, the single moment of terrifying vulnerability they shared together, before she broke eyecontact and he took her bag, and then she took a deep breath. he spoke again, but his voice was entirely different. leah spent a lot of her life telling lies and making happy faces so she could tell he wasn't happy, nor able to joke properly.
she snickered, or tried to, but it came out gorss and ugly. "oh, shut up," she whined openly, fighting back a sob. "what kind of sister would i be if i didn't uphold the standards you s-set?" just ignore that little choke, please, was all she could think of, as she walked, a little too shaky, towards the exit. too many people. she needed space, she needed time. she needing everything she didn't have anymore.
breathing becoming more easy, she sghed and said, "not the reunion we expected, huh?" her voice became faint. grandfather was dead, and as cruel as it was to admit, she needed to get over it. cool her head. she had been sent, no-- she had explicitly requested to go to sinnoh for one reason. to find out who had murdered him, to investigate, to do her part to uphold the last of the arkwright name.
her face turned steely.
"do you have any idea, who could've---" but she wanted herself to stop, she wanted adrien to tell her that could wait for another day, because she was just tired. maybe the years of being separated wouldn't dampen the siblings' ability to read into each other's minds.

“So lame,” A huff escaped his lips at her retort, a smirk soon surfacing on his lips as he walked besides her. Adrien wasn’t quite able to catch her struggle with the crowd that morphed around them as they exited the station, caught in his own new-found awkwardness with this reunion. “No, but pffft. You’d have made me carry a dozen bags while you waltz down the street if you weren’t sobbing your eyes out,” He’d scoff, the one suitcase wrapped around his fingers indeed felt light. Too light. It hurt.
Adrien’s gaze gradually turned indifferent as he tried his best to suppress his exhaustion, Leah’s dour expression doing little to aid him in his bid to do so. He had spent sleepless nights trying to find reason – reason that helped clear his conscious. Reason that told him that it wasn’t his fault that Grandfather was dead. Alas, he couldn’t find any.
Leah was that one person he wanted to rant his heart out despite how pathetic it would have made him seem in the end. But right now, he couldn’t for even she seemed to be barely coping with the sudden turn of events, one which hit him hard with a pang of guilt. Even if he were to give her the name of the murderer right now, what good would it do? It could wait.
“Does it matter right now?” Finally exiting the station the man would move towards the car parked close by, dumping the suitcase behind – his lips twitching as he had to twist his torso again. Turning to Leah, he’d continue. “There’s a lot I need to fill you in about,” An honest confession as he locked eyes with her, the smile lessening considerably. And by a lot, he was even considering telling her about Galactic just…
“…just not right now. All that matters right now, is that you are back,”
And I need you. A genuine smile as he slightly titled his head.

leah snorted and shook her head. "look who's talking?" she said, and the banter became a little more easy. she'd have to save the tears for a later date, or preferrably never show them again. that was okay, she was used to that. honestly, now she felt like an idiot. she of all people should know adrien arkwright to be one of the most irrational jackasses on the planet, and not exactly the type of person you wanted to sob together with. well, maybe if she was actually sobbing he'd grow a heart, but sobbing was beneath her.
"oh, brother, you're practically begging me to take you up on the offer," she said, as she mischeivously eyed the rows of shops that spread out from the station, a lingering glance given to the mall before she sighed and turned back to adrien. "you do know me not doing so was out of pity, right?"
they passed through, and her suitcase was put into a car. adrien gave her response she'd hoped for, and she felt her chest relaxed, an unknown weight lifting itself from her shoulders. but the mention of things he had to tell her made her eyes narrow. "like the real reason you've taken to becoming a trendsetter?" she asked, mercilessly reminding him that she wasn't quite satisfied with his story for how he'd gotten an eyepatch.
but she sighed and stepped inside the vehicle, forcing herself to mirror his small smile. she turned to the window, flipping her mood like a switch. "i am back," she assured, crossing her legs in an ever-so-leah position as she made herself comfortable in the seat of the car. "how's sinnoh?" she asked, the open ended question directed at adrien, but not really specifically since she was still staring out the window, looking at the wondrous jubilife city, so different from home, so similar to kalos.

He knew his words were cold, but he also knew that they just as effective. Leah would straighten up soon enough and thankfully lightened up soon after. It wasn't as if their grandfather's death hadn't affected him and being directly responsible for the elder Arkwright's death, Adrien in fact would sulk to himself at times. But of course, he wouldn't let anyone know that. Not even Leah if he could help it. Pride was one thing, but showing his own pathetic side when his sister felt so vulnerable was another.
"... " Her retort to that statement was slightly worrying, shopping in those acursed boutiques took hours with Leah. "Yeah, sure," Eyes averted themselves from the blonde, Adrien refraining from commenting for once and only resorted to a quite mumble. And then Leah was indeed back, starting with the stinging remark about his eye. He'd smile as he got into the car. "Heh, I know right? The peg leg will follow soon enough," He'd chuckle, making light of the situation. He'd have to inform her eventually, but not now. Not everything at once.
The car would soon begin to move and Adrien would take a moment to find how to correctly answer Leah's question (or demand rather). "Going to heck. Galactic was a concern. Now there's Rocket. And well, the rangers are pretty useless," He'd shrug and shift his attention to her.
"What about Kalos? How is it?" A vague question of his own was now poised.
