major news alert!
witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
welcome to the first ever battle cup tournament! set up along the beaches of sandgem are multiple areas that have been turned into small battlefields; sandy terrain with patches of water spread across to support water types. the battlefield stretches no longer than 50 meters. the first round has ended, trainers have had their pokemon healed up and ready to go again. with fewer trainers now crowds have started to pick their favorites as they cheered them onto the battlefield. two trainers stand at the end of each side of the battlefield, and soon enough, an umpire would gain your attention.[break][break]

[attr="class","monbody"]the result didn’t seem believable. they were, in fact, synchronized, her team was pushed close to their own limits, but as she was praised, it didn’t feel worth being there and not refusing gerald’s demands. she walked a very uncommon tightrope. trix, vega and tay looked exhausted, but determined to get through the tournament when she mentioned not wanting them to get hurt. the ranger is quick to realize that self-doubting herself was what kept them so unfocused on the previous battle. before rejoining on the field, she assures her pokemon she’d give her own best to guide them during the second round.[break] taar’s opponent looked as intimidating as their team. she smiled in courtesy and wished them the best of luck, her manners coming up a little late than expected seeing in the other battle she was a mess. was. she still is, but a rather friendly one. before the other arrived, the ranger had already signaled a double battle as she drew her seismitoad and vulpix on the sandy terrain. to the sounding call, she began. “tay, acid on both. trix, safeguard and extrasensory on the second one.” excitement filled the open space as the silver haired’s pokemons showed off their first moves. “remember to go at it twice.” she directed it to the toad as they expelled a strong wave carrying large amounts of a pressured purple liquid towards both opponents. meanwhile, the jumpy fox cried out her name as she covered both with an invisible but sparkly shield and prior to that directed a rainbow colored wave to the pokemon on her right side. taar caught the exhilarating sounds of the waves that crashed into the shore close to them, salty weather and the softest of breezes on her uncovered stomach. it all felt invigorating. “good job, guys.” had it been a successful hit or not, she’d congratulate her companions. "..." The amber haired female was left speechless. After the first battle in which was somehow called to time in her favor, she now stood on the other side of her opponent on round two. Since her opponent got to the stage first she was able to call for the match type, which was fine. Another double battle so soon was not what she had expected but adapting was a trait her pokemon had to learn as well. The loud sounds of the crowds cheers were rather distracting to the mental thoughts being formed in the woman's mind. Nevertheless the woman tried to block out as much of it as she could while she reached for her two pokemon, figuring that she should change strategies from the last time. As her younger opponent threw out her pokeballs, Adrian would do the same. This time Tentacool and Absol appeared on the field. Exerting pressure on the opposite side of the field, Absol prepared for battle.
With no time to waste her opponent struck first. Being the wishful thinker the ginger thought that they would at least do introductions. Her Absol on the other hand was prepared and as the blobs of Acid soared in the air he had already evaded and rushed behind the Seismetoad that spat the gunk with Sucker Punch. Adrian shook her head, "if that's how we want to play... Absol, Perish Song." Being so close already the dark type immediately began to howl a tune ladened with eerie sadness, ignoring the psychic type move as it brushed passed him and only really being bothered by the second shot of acid.
As for the Tentacool the water type took both acids but it did not much affect him much. Rather, he'd try to take advantage of the poison at that. "Double layer the field with toxic spikes." It was prep work but much needed ones as the jellyfish like pokemon took some of the acid and its own poison into the spikes that he would soon scatter on the field around their foes.

[attr="class","monbody"]taar’s eye widened given the quick response of the other trainer, her feet dig up on the sand as if she motioned a step back in surprise. upon watching her pokemon take the damage of the sucker punch, her lids are completely shut for a mere moment before coming back to the absol’s last move and the field fulfilled with poisoned spikes. she carried on her hand two pokeballs, calling back the vulpix and drawing pikachu whilst her opponents were busy setting up the scene and taking in the acid. the toad remained his acid attack with a quick look at his owner, receiving a approving smile and shifted it out on the second turn for several spits of a darkened and dense liquid. the yellow one is supposed to travel back and forth throughout the field, trying his’ hardest not to step on any of the traps. a task he performed almost perfectly as he flashed his body from a point to another, bumping into some that made his attention turn fully to the ground and prevent any more pain. “vega, up.” as soon as he’s done, the pikachu is supposed to stay guarded on top of tay’s scalp. “hold steady, you both are doing a great job.” she would hold them back for a while, even though the other team looked like they were just playing, she worried about the outcome of another powerful shot from the absol. what really got into her nerves, however, is that she was still trapped in that tournament. for once being tortured by gerald sounded more appealing than having her pokemon stand a battle she didn’t want to be in. her saddened sigh due to the though is soft to the ears and no one can hear it but her. The clock was on. Now it was time to figure out what strategy to use and how to tip the scales in her favor. With Toxic Spikes out the intense poison was bound to give them an advantage one way or another. What the ginger became concerned about was the order in which she herself should switch out. The vulpix was quickly substituted out for the electric type, which led her to believe that Tentacool was the choice to be made. On the other hand that was not lead to the most ideal team set up later so she decided to go with her first plan of attack. "Absol, return for now." The dark type looked back at his partner and mused the meaning of this. However he did not complain and complacently returned to the pokeball. In his place another quadrupedal pokemon was sent out into the field, roaring menacingly as he appeared in the flash of light. As the acid was being thrown in bulk, Tentacool did his duty and jumped in front the lion to prevent it from being hit too much as the poison was going to hit tentacool anyway. The lion was still hit of course considering the small stature of the jellyfish but not as much.
Once the ranger saw the pikachu mounting the water toad, the woman rose a brow. Something was up and that was proven to be corrent soon enough as a rush of unsightly looking water began to rush forward at the two pokemon. "Tentacool, try to freeze it over." While it was a tall order, the Tentacool understood what that meant and shot the icy beam to freeze the water over to prevent it from reaching the two. Unfortunately the water type only managed to freeze the section that was incoming at the fire type, though the jellyfish itself was not too hurt from the attack itself. The two were definitely working together better than last battle which the ranger was strangely thankful for. "Let's split their attention. Nemelios, Hyper Beam the toad. Tentacool use Hex."
The lion roared valiantly as he gathered the energy in his body before discharging the strong beam at the opposing water type. It was the best he could to in this situation and would have to rest afterwards, so this would be the only attack he could do for now. Tentacool on the other hand planned to take advantage of the poison it laid out, using the eerie energies it gathered within its body, the poison type sent out a Hex on the Pikachu. Nevermind the remnants of the darkened howls from Absol lingering in its head.

TLDR: Absol was recalled and replaced for Pyroar Tentacool intercepted the acid aimed for Pyroar. Both took a bit of damage. Tentacool used Ice Beam to freeze the Muddy Water. Stopped for Pyroar but Tentacool was hit by Muddy water. Pyroar used Hyper Beam on Seismitoad and is recharging Tentacool used Hex on Pikachu Tentacool's Perish Count is 2
[attr="class","monbody"]fuchsia and azure orbs carry the same old doubt. as if at each turn something clicked and she immediately turned off and on and off again. she has a damaged interrupter, that exactly same one that simultaneously stops from operating whatever it was connected to. ever since ten years old, decision making wasn't one of her best characteristics, only with training she managed to get better at other categories that purposefully dimmed what she lacked: making choices.[break] hopes didn't usually stick with her for a long period of time, being there just meant she was delaying an imminent defeat.not that she didn't have faith on her pokemon. she was the actual problem, her and her defamatory abuser (leave the word father out of it until there are no synonymous in the world to describe him... or simply call him gerald, which is enough of a profanity). her opponent's performance was impeccable. their absol were switched out for the evolution of a small fire puppy, the only version she knew of until then and the defenses were interesting enough to catch on the bare eye, a calculated sacrifice.[break] when seismitoad is hit by the colored ray, taar's concern is voiced out. "tay!" the bigger one gives in a endured and wicked smile, wording out harshly his species signature title. the star named is quick enough to intercept the opponent’s apparent hex, a move they've seen before on the previous battle, by covering himself in sparks and taking advantaged of the impulse given by the hurt companion to jump right above the tentacool's head. on the pointy end of his tail was to form a rather big sphere of lighting midair, supposed to be immediately thrown at his target bellow and then again when he's close to hitting the ground. said move sounded an melodic scintillation and would eventually cause a small break in on the little that is left of the field's harmony (the spikes being the former origin of the lack of balance), lifting up the sand and giving the crown a slight blind experience due to the beam created by both explosions. meanwhile, the toad would keep the fiery one to its post by shooting a string of pressured water in his direction using the dust to make it harder to avoid the attack, after pursuing the same one with repeatedly attempts to hit them (done whilst the pyroar recharged). Her opponent wasn't speaking anymore. That much the ginger noticed and made note of as there were a few reasons this could have been. Save for the beginning instance, her opponent hadn't much ordered specific attacks or their targets. Perhaps it was due to inexperience? Even so, the opposing pokemon were reacting well enough on their own to her attacks. The toad was flailing about which only was strange as there were some distance between the duo and the toad, but as Tentacool was still in front of Pyroar it took most of whatever damage there were. The Pikachu on the other hand was doing surprisingly thoughtful moves as it sped up to target the tentacool. As the older ranger parted her lips to say something, the electric balls had already descended downwards. Unfortunately the water type had already taken quite the beating from previous attacks, despite the previous ones being relatively ineffective. It was a shame as Adrian wanted to keep Tentacool present for the experience. Nevertheless the total damage did their number and the jellyfish fell into the sand as it went unconscious.
Of course Adrian wasted no time switching out as Pyroar was going to be next if she had not acted swiftly enough. Swapping out the water type, she sent back out her Absol who once again gracefully entered the field while exerting pressure. The wind up time for the next attack was enough time. "Absol, protect Nemelios." Again Absol was swift in jumping forward in front of the fire lion with a strange glow to his eyes, taking the attack with ease and not bothered by the harsh waters of Hydro Pump. As the attack subsided the Pyroar huffed his name to the disaster pokemon to indicate thanks as he returned to his feet though the Absol did not respond. "Alright that's enough. No more wasting time. Absol, stone edge. Nemelios follow that up with take down"
Without moving more than an inch, the dark type pressed his front paws into the ground to create pillars of stone that grew in size as it traveled down towards the two pokemon. These pillars were meant to damage the opponent and restrict their movement but the lion saw them as stepping stones on his end as he traveled along the raised platforms to reach his target and initiate a take down. "Overheat the rodent," unlike the last beam of energy the fire type simply turned his head to blast the built up flames of his core at the electric type pokemon. Perhaps the Perish song wasn't even necessary as the poison was developing further but one way or another this was going to end.
That was when the ginger cast her eyes on her opponent. It was all pretty words and praise, some direction but no actual moves. After her last opponent she questioned why she was facing this one. "Are you going to keep just letting your pokemon fight alone or are you going to do something?" This was one of those rare occasions that the redhead was going out of her way to interact with her opponent. Usually she didn't care all too much but since she knew how her Absol feels about fighting, it did not feel correct otherwise. "If not I suggest forfeiting. It's rude to your pokemon if you aren't participating in the battle as well."

[attr="class","monbody"]veracity did not match her like it did her team. she expelled a shy aura that people could notice miles away. edge always eased by hale or, sometimes, vega. they’ve been through enough together to know both needed whatever it was the other had to offer. for the amount of quietness from taar was compensated by her party’s outgoing energy. some friend’s she’s made in a rather strangely setting inspected the match and all of them knew of how coy she could get when facing a uncomfortable situation.[break] the toad used up their dodge to avoid a physical encounter they didn’t plan to have and sought to grab onto his rival charging after it to crash onto its’ attack supposedly directed at pikachu. that last lash out would do the job of stopping the lion from getting anywhere near their companion and deal some extra damage due to the sea colored’s current state. they would most definitely be unable to battle on the second turn. meanwhile vega used up his status move to aid himself when it came to moving across the rocky pillars. he’d vanish only to appear seconds later on another tower, remaining its motion up until he heard her calling. “shine!” the yellow pokemon would act pronto given a gleeful memory. the day he met the trainer was the same he learned more about the lights above him, apparently called ‘stars’. the story behind it warmed his heart as he took pride of the gifted name and dared for a performance that would fill a opened clear sky with sparkles to resemble night merged into day. to that thought, pikachu yelled out his name jumping from the highest tower to the absol’s location. with the lion blocked by seismitoad, he went with its full blast of lighting repeating the presentation from earlier but added the buffered speed to it and stunts rehearsed that would’ve earned to be considered a gymnastics’ move. “stay alert. you did really great. both of you.” the water type endured enough to hold off the opposition and fainted quickly after observing vega’s beam. the fox would soon be called in and wait for the next command close to her owner. [break] the young ranger’s brows are arched slightly to the sudden speaker, her way of battling apparently dismantled the others’ composure. there’s a muffled sound of trix’s growl at the other participant that doesn’t arrive to her. she’s never been confronted in such a way with a crowd noticing her every breath. a quick glance around and their faces showed expectancy to what would be her response. heartbeat is up to her throat, throbbing against her vocals as she eyes the crimson haired stoically. flowing locks matches pure white clouds on top whilst she whispers out a goddammit in which barely reached her own ears to let out some of the building anxiety. the sergeant chewed on the back of her right cheek and slim fingers met her temple now bothered by the thought of gerald’s actions given that short conversation. he was the one who built her this way and would probably be the one who punished her later that day for letting her opponent speak so freely of her apparent weakness. a growl is heard. “don’t.” the fox’s expression is of a ranged creature, only calmed by taar’s tone. “focus on the battle.” [break][break]

Raising a brow at the lack of response, noticing the shock and hesitation in the girl's body language. In turn the elite decided not to go further into the situation. It was the girl's prerogative to not actively participate in the battle and furthermore not to respond. The pokemon that came out after looked defensive about it however honestly without telling anyone Adrian couldn't care less. She watched the scene unfold before her, unsure of the mess that happened within it. The stone edge had ambiguously hit the water type while the electric type got away with another amp of speed. Somehow at the same time the toad had evaded the lion's full body take down. It was intriguing to see pokemon make such knowledgeable moves being only spurred on by praise. Of course Adrian was no stranger to such tactics herself as she watched her own pokemon in their own quarrels.
Pyroar, while he was in the midst of the fight once the take down was evaded, kept using that momentum to run forward slightly to evade the flailing of the unsightly creature. Stone edge finished it so the lion went back to Absol's side of the field where the dark type was contending with the electric rodent. It was impressive how much the small pokemon was able to move about with the poison no doubt injuring the creature but with Perish Song still active, it would not be long until the battle concluded. "Ignore Pikachu. Focus on the Vulpix," Absol readily did so as he watched the electric type and dodged the eletro ball last minute (which btw I think you mean electro ball instead of energy ball in your end notes).
Once Pyroar met up with Absol the dark type cast another spray of stone edge on the small fox pokemon before running up with Pyroar together against the Vulpix. The lion used wild charge, the electricity radiating off his body as he ran towards the Vulpix. Absol prepared to follow up shortly thereafter.
