he honestly didn't mind staying, it was nice to be in good company every once in a while. friends were scarce nowadays and he wasn't too sure how long this one would last. she was after all a ranger and eventually she'd find out about him. though right now he didn't have to worry about that. "why are you with the rangers? it doesn't sound like they appreciate you very much," he commented. the rangers have always annoyed him in some form, with how they treated lena, how they handled their arrests, there was so much that he hated with them. but there were good qualities to them too, and hunter was one of them. her question caught him off guard and once again he was left struggling to come up with a response. "just a simple trainer," he responded. what a boring and generic answer. so instead he'd walk over to the chair next to her and sit on it. there was a bit of a space between them so he could turn his head fully to look at her without being too close. "five badges so far," he added in an attempt to make his lie a bit more believable. well, the badges were true but the thing about being a trainer wasn't. Well that much was true. Sometimes Hunter agreed with it, with all the work she did she was never really commended or promoted, she was simply given new orders of problems to go solve on her own. She sucked in a breath and laughed suddenly, rather loudly.
"They don't Liam. They don't. But I'm just here to make a difference see? No matter how small. I uhm....have something of a special connection with pokemon. When I was younger, I found the mysterious and hidden Pokemon Village in Kalos. Weird right? Some snot nosed brat finding a whole village of pokemon? It was......one of my best memories actually."
Fondly she smiled, watching Liam as he sat down. She listened with rapt attention, making a rather impressed noise knowing he had five badges. Personally she had none, they weren't important to her though she figured they might end up important in the future.
"Wow five badges? That's really impressive! I wasn't really...focused...on badges honestly. But hey, maybe sometime soon I'll try my hand at it, might help with saving people right? I just...want to make a difference in someone's life."

hearing her reasoning behind staying with the rangers resonated with him. it was almost the same reason why someone close to him left the rangers in the first place. but hearing the rest of her story was just lovely. "that's a very special memory," he commented. he quickly thought of one of his but even that he struggled with, which was sad to say the least. "thank you for sharing it with me." it was a touching memory. "you should! they're more fun than you might think," he replied. badges were not really important but it served as a way to measure how strong one was. the general consensus agreed that more badges meant a stronger trainer. "if it means anything just know that you've made a difference in mine."
she didn't have to do much but just hearing about her stories and tragedies really hit him deep. he admired her, to still have a positive and honest goal in life even after all the tragedies. it was nice to know that there was still genuinely good people in the world. and with that vague comment said there would be a knock on the door, the nurse now back to properly tend to the injury. Hunter grinned widely as the nurse entered the room, with several shades of wrappings and a whole lot of cotton.
"Alright sweetheart, we're gonna clean you up and wrap your hand then you'll be on your way."
Hunter took a deep breath and nodded, gritting her teeth against the pain of her hand jostling and the antiseptic as it was cleaned. The nurse let her choose a color, and of course she went with a lovely and fetching shade of light lavender. Her hand was very efficiently wrapped and Hunter took deep breaths against bursts of pain that resonated within her.
Once it was finished the nurse handed over a sharpie, grinning at the two and putting her hands on her hips.
"Alright you two, sign it up then get out of here it's a beautiful day outside."
Hunter smiled widely and handed Liam the sharpie, swinging her cast about in exclamation.
"Come on Liam! Sign it so we can get out of here!"
Her sadness was almost entirely forgotten, and some of her old spark was really starting to shine through now.

"i'm glad i met you too."
he watched carefully as the nurse tended to the wound, casually averting his gaze away every now and then. even though it wasn't him who was going through it he could sort of feel the pain she was going through. treating wounds sucked, the pain sometimes unimaginable but it looked like the girl handled it well. "good choice," he commented on her choice of color. when he was handed the sharpie he wasn't quite sure what to do with it for a second, as he's never had to sign a cast before in his life. he was never asked, really. but he's seen enough pop culture to know what to do. so he leaned forward and scribbled a 'stay happy' followed by his signature right below it. he wasn't too sure if the quote was needed or not but it was too late now. he soon handed the sharpie back to the nurse when he was done. and with that the two were out of the hospital, liam not even bothering to put the hood back on as he simply walked through the hospital. all his thoughts and worries seemed to have been silenced for now as he stood outside the hospital, breathing in the fresh air before looking over at the ranger next to him.
