major news alert!
witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
it had been weeks- a month? two? since she was denied closure. pumpkin may have been long past, but that didn't mean lena was over and done with it. the thing had yet to receive proper burial, even if it meant coming back to solaceon. she's reluctant to scar so many good memories here with something as heavy as death, but here she was. kneeling at the tomb is harder than she'd expect, but this is necessary. she's been recruited for a sea palace exploration, and the death count was already rising as foolish teenagers tried to sneak in at night. morons.
and yet, she was next. she's been paired with some other variables, but lena can only hope they're half as competent as a couple of shit head teens.
that's not what she's here for.
lena realizes she doesn't know how to mourn. she sits there, staring at the tomb that only has pumpkin's name and the dates of ownership. it's too short. she feels a pang of resentment, an even bigger hit of loneliness.
this is stupid.
what's dead is dead. there's no helping it. and yet, the loneliness remains. lena finds herself on her phone, sending a quick text to a certain galactic before glancing around the room. his recovery had been nothing short of stressful- she spent too many sleepless nights by his side, too many all-nighters on guard while he lay unconscious. the day he woke up was a small victory, one short lived when she was sent out of the hospital for the 'umpteenth' time. they hadn't celebrated yet; hell, they hadn't even seen each other. she could only pray that the staff let him keep the walrein. her heart beats faster at the thought of seeing him walk through the door, suddenly flustered and restless as she waits for him.
two others mourning- she bows her head, waiting at the tomb, mind on everything but the stunky at this point.
death has always been a touchy subject for him, especially after recent events. he's never had to deal with loss but the fact that his life could have ended there on the hospital bed frightened him. he couldn't begin to imagine what lena felt day after day, just watching, waiting for him to wake up. there was nothing more he could have asked for, and for that he is eternally grateful.
it felt like being reborn when he took that first step out of the hospital after spending weeks confined to a bed. his injuries have mostly recovered, and he left the hospital even before the recommended time. he got all of his belongings back, thankfully, which also included a gift from lena.
it's been a while since they last saw each other, so when a text came he immediately responded, travelling by arcanine to the destination.
the lost tower, a resting ground for deceased pokemon. it didn't take long for him to arrive, soon recalling the arcanine before pushing through the heavy door.
tombstones were scattered through the gloomy room and sitting by one of them was a familiar face. it's been so long since they saw each other or was even in each other's company. it didn't matter who ran to who, what mattered was that they were embracing each other, his arms wrapping around her as he rested his head against hers.
"h-hi...i've missed you so much." voice was soft but happy. hands would cup the side of her face, pushing strands of hair back as he looked into her eyes. "are you okay?"
warm hands around her, on her face- she smiles back, i am now. it was too corny to say. all she knows is that she's not lonely now, he's here, he's warm, he... he's healthy. a pause prior to an enthusiastic nod, she reaches tall to put her lips on his-- it's quick, but it's enough to make her feel warmer.
and lena is still freezing. "what's done is done. i don't want you here to mourn with me. i have a promise to fulfill, after all." a quick wink and she would wrap her hand around his, bringing it to her heart, letting him feel the racing beat of her heart briefly. "wanna see upstairs"? she's breathless, and too impatient to wait for his answer. she drags him as something reminiscent to one of their previous encounters. the haze of the upper level is threatening, but she's too dazed to feel uneasy. the old people don't come up here-- these floors were reserved for the pokemon of the wealthy. Haunted by the souls of the neglected creatures, it was often recommended to be avoided.
And yet, here they were. Her face is flushed, she pulls him close. No protests allowed, she gets comfortable in her corner as his shirt is balled in her fingers, pulling his lips to hers, pulling his body close. she wants to feel whole again, wants that gaping loneliness to disappear for good, wants her missing puzzle piece to be found. he's her best, if not only, bet. she's going to take full advantage of that.
soon enough he was being led up the stairs, very similar to a previous encounter. the haze coupled with elevated heart rates made it difficult for him to breath, but he didn't care at that point. he found himself cornering her, once again taking lead as he confined her to that small corner in the room. lips would meet, bodies would touch.
a brief intermission happened as his breathing quickened. a hand reaching behind his shoulders to pull off the shirt. the wound on his chest now a scar, healed but still prominent. there was no way around it, no way to hide aster's mark on him. so closed the gap between them again, pushing her into her corner before kissing her once more.
short intervals of words were had, seemingly pausing each time he spoke. "no cuffs?" thoughts drifted back to their earlier incident and the conversation that followed. and then suddenly he stopped, pulling away if only for a second with a grin on his face before speaking. "i remember your texts." a quick chuckle followed. "time to follow through."
long, strong legs would wrap around him as she pulled them both to the floor to catch their breath, eyes falling on the scar. her frown is obvious-- fingers trace along the outside borders of the thing, gently as a feather's touch as she rests her forehead against his. "i could kill him for this." her voice is a whisper, as if she doesn't want to say it; she doesn't want to come to terms with the hatred, doesn't want to acknowledge that the man she's been following could be this wrong. her stare is ended when he distracts her in different ways; she can't get close enough, no matter how hard she pushes herself against him, no matter how deeply the kisses merge.
time to follow through.
a pout is the first thing he'd get, lena not wanting to be pulled away again so soon. a grin is the second-- she let's herself fall on him, straddling his waist as she hunches over him. "what do i get in return?" bragging rights, him, etc. she doesn't need an answer; liam can speak with his body, and speak he does. she starts at his neck, traveling south to places forbidden.
lena was a hands-free machine, fulfilling her promise through and through. the time comes when she exhausts herself, falling (not literally) on him with an exasperated sigh, lips against the crook of her neck as she catches her breath. bare skin is visible from the waist-up; how the clothes vanished, she'll never bother to care. skin glistens in the glow of moonlight through the dirty windows in the haze-filled room, the sound of their breath the only thing audible.
not good enough. he wanted more; he craved more. with both arms wrapped around her body he'd rotate to a side before going to the other. momentum played its part and now their positions were switched. tightening his grip around her he would slowly lift her up as he got off the ground. legs would wrap around him as he held her. eyes would stare as a grin appeared.
"good effort." he teased. feeling his breathing quicken he took a step forward, then another, until finally crashing (softly) into the wall behind them. with her back now against her wall he felt less pressure. movements were rough as he handled her. cuts and wounds would heal.
heart raced now as he felt subtle pain flow through his chest that seem to amplify with every touch, every kiss. but the pain was worth it. lips would start at the bare skin on her neck, taking sweet his time as he slowly moved down, and down,
"fuck," she rasps, her efforts to hold on foiled sooner than she had hoped. "come here." she makes a grab for him with all intention to pull all of him on to her-- he's the one who switched them around, and she planned to take advantage. it was the same song as always-- just as good, just as satisfying, and always leaving her feeling closer to him than before. the footsteps of visitors below only excited her more, and he was sure to notice. liam never failed to make her feel whole again, to remind her that she wasn't some brain-washed grunt working for aster.
morning is hours off, and they have all the time in the world. lena doesn't plan on sleeping tonight- after all, guests could arrive any minute. she keeps their upcoming mission in mind, finding herself clinging to him a little tighter, holding on with a little more effort. "it's too soon for you to go," a small attempt of reasoning with him may or may not fall on selectively deaf ears, but she asks anyway.
it's only a small hiccup in the perfection of the moment. she relishes the time she spends so close to him-- experience tells her that it won't only fade faster than she would like, but could be ruined at any moment.
though there were bumps in the road the girl was the only stable thing in his life at the moment. in the midst of all the chaos and all the terror he could always look to her and see someone pure, someone with genuinely good intentions. not only that, but she kept him on his feet (also literally), his sanity at this point depended on her.
he dreaded each time they had to part; it was almost as if after each departure something bad would happen. it didn't sit well with him that their next encounter might be at the raid. that was the only concern on his mind at the moment. the whole thing about aster and galactic would be pushed to the side for now, until he gets stronger.
"how else will i make you miss me?" he smiled. he cherished each moment they spent together, relishing how close they were. "i'll stay if you want me to." footsteps can be heard from downstairs, though neither of them cared enough.
"gotta keep our voices down, though." he whispered, a grin spread on his face.
the moment is nice, until the presence of a little girl interrupts it. lena pushes herself away from the other galactic, face burning red as she scrambles to cover herself and fix her hair-- the little girl is already gone, and despite the bliss she had felt before, lena only knows anxiety and shame. "w-we should go-" she manages the grumble out, only to be faced with her next internal death as the long monologue from the overly-comprehensive 12 year old fills the room.
she has nothing to say, she's paralyzed and dead inside.
he wasn't expecting it. the sudden appearance of the girl was enough to disrupt things. his shirt was lost somewhere in the distance but a quick reach for his pants and he was somewhat covered for now. he sat there on the ground, waiting for the boy's monologue to end before standing back up and redressing.
at that moment he felt just as shameful as her but a part of him found the whole thing funny. it was definitely something he'd laugh at once time has passed.
