major news alert!
witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
Ah, Eterna. The smell brings her on a nostalgia trip only a home-town could. She has it in her heard to go visit the professor, but her pokemon take precedence. Another good set of battles for Pumpkin and Lancer have left them feeling exhausted, and it's up to her to take care of them as quickly and efficiently as possible. She's quick to hustle in and out of the Pokemon center so she can just relax, but the urge to explore her favorite spots arises. She finds herself climbing the stairs to the shrine of the legendary pokemon, lingering around the gold and bronze structure; it never fails to amaze her. The thought of so many people crafting something like this is awe-inspiring-- she's always wished to watch it happen.
She makes a move to release her Ivysaur, Toad emerging almost as happily as Lena came into the city. The pokemon is more the familiar with this spot, and happily settles next to it in the sun while Lena idles. Children dart around the thing with parents looking on. Lena recognizes many of the faces, happily exchanging greetings. They ask her if she's gone home yet. "Soon! I can't leave without having one of mom's dinners, you know," she laughs, wide smile on her face. Blue eyes fall on an individual she isn't familiar with. He spikes her curiosity; she can't help but stare. Was he a trainer? A shady galactic? They did have a base here, according to Liam. She frowns, eyes glues to the individual. Even Toad notices her uneasiness, ears perking as it comes to settle next to her feet. Does she approach? Does she just watch? Lena settles for the ladder, deciding to follow him if it comes to him sneaking around too much.

Eterna city... Again. Adrien sighed, having visited the city plenty of times as a child with his family. Twas a common occurence seeing as how he came from the neighboring Celestic town. It wasn't the town itself had put him in a rather dour mood, but the fact that he was so very close to home. Sooner or later he would have to pass by Celestic, it being on the way to the next city.
Having neglected his duties of his family bussiness and going on with the hush-hush duties of a Galactic member had him at slight ends with the Arkwrights. Ah well... Crimson irides would quitely study the statue in Eterna and the plaque below it. He had a few errands to run in this city or more precisely, the chateau lost in the bordering forest.
Didn't hurt to take a break before getting back to work. And so, the silverette would stroll around the city taking in the sights and scenes; The Eterna Gym, the---Hm? The silverette would turn and look around. For some reason it felt at if he were being followed.
'Could be my imagination.'
He'd shrug it off and resume although felt like a reoccurring face was following him around. A certain blonde and her ivysaur it seemed. An admirer? A ranger? Now a bit alerted, Adrien would casually make his way to a more secluded area near the statue. He'd stop there with a hand in his trouser pocket. Eyes fixed themselves on a wall as he spoke with a calm blithe tone, his voice loud and clear for the person behind him.
"So! Aside from stalking people while looking pretty, what else do you do, Miss?"
Lena freezes as she's caught red handed. Sticking her nose too far out has gotten it chopped off (companied by a slap to the face), and she can feel her face flush in embarrassment. Toad goes on the defensive, the Ivysaur crouching down at the sight of the effect the stranger has on his trainer. "Nono, calm down bud, kids around" she mumbles, frantically searching for the words between the shame and anxiety. "I- um, you just.. don't look familiar.. is all" she keeps her voice low, almost hoping he won't hear her. She ignores the compliment in an attempt to remain oblivious. "I've lived here for a while, so... I didn't want you to fuc-- er, mess with anything.." she hesitates to mention her worry of him being a Galactic member. What if he's one of the researches that needed the solosis? Not that he would know she had it, but still. Her paranoia builds, she goes on the defensive to justify herself.
"You can't just go slinking around all shady in a family town y'know" she huffs, eyes darting to the hand in his pocket. Oh god. Was he going to pull a gun on her? A wailord? Was he going to crush her?! She nudges Toad, hoping the pokemon will intimidate the stranger enough from killing her, but there's only so much a little Ivysaur can do.

The woman fumbled up her words apparently embarrassed by being caught in the act. While he couldn't really discern much from her mumbling, Adrien caught on to enough to figure her motives out. Either twas a lame excuse while on patrol, or he really did come off as shady. Turning around, the silverette would take note of the Ivysaur as he approached her and wisely chose to stop a few steps away. "Shady?" He'd cock a brow as he chortled.
"The only one slinking around and following people here is you." A hand would extend to gesture towards her. He'd continue to speak as if they were already acquainted. "Can't say I'm not flattered being followed by a pretty face buuut..." A chuckle followed. Apparently a blazer and pants stuck out too much. "Sounds like you've had a few bad encounters with men in suits," His hand remains within his pocket as he casually continued. Twas a safety measure if anything.
"Maybe I can change that." He'd wink as he slightly leaned forward, deliberately being as vague as possible. Her reaction and response would determine his next move.
She can only look down as he makes all of his very valid points. Lena is at a loss for words, frustration bubbling up from her shame and embarassment. Once again ignoring the compliment, she can't help but glance around her to see how many faces look on. Only two concerned parents-- good enough, they'd turn away eventually. That, or the chatty moms would offer commentary the whole time. She jumps at the sound of clothes moving and shoes scuffing slightly, gaze garting up in time to see him closer than before. She nearly breaks out into a sweat her face is so hot, and immediately shuffles backwards, hand on a pokeball.
"No no no, not at all! You can't just come here and be all cocky like that!" she huffs. "Get out your pokemon!" A battle is the only thing she can think of that will keep him not only away, but distraction from whatever flirting mechanism he thinks will work. On the defensive Lena is unresponsible and irratic-- some kids gasp as they hear the prospect of a battle; news only spreads. Shit. She didn't want this to be as big of an affair. At that moment she cursed the shrines popularity, and tried to keep her focus away from any more curious onlookers.

Rejected. Although there wasn't anything else he was actually expecting. Recoiling his head as she pulled out a pokeball, Adrien would chuckle at her proposal. She was cute that was a given. But the way she ordered out her pokemon made him believe that the blonde was following him for a decent while now. "Very well.." He'd smile as he finally withdrew his hand, a pokeball gripped tightly.
"You're up, Que!" He'd murmur as he tossed out a pokeball, a larvesta emerging. Compared to the Ivysaur it was tiny, although had the type advantage in this match up.
"Go ahead. You've got the first move," He'd gesture for her to begun, eyes darting around as he now noticed a crowd forming. 'What a pain...' He'd roll his eyes as children began to crowd around. The smooth talk would have to be toned down a notch.
Her stomach twists at the sight of the fire pokemon- she glances at Toad, who doesn't seem to notice or mind that he's at the disadvantage, not to mention any levels the fire type might have over him. Lena grimaces at his actions- the first move, really? Did he think she was incapable of winning this battle? Even if Toad did faint.. Well, she had backup. Lena can only hope that her hard work pays off. "First things first, put it to sleep and then bomb it." She speaks quickly-- throwing moves out into the open like always embarrassed her. What if the people around her judged her for her choice? She can feel sweat start to prick at her skin, making her antsy. Not to mention it was a huge give-away. The other trainer would know what was coming, giving them the advantage. She can only be so vague before it gets obnoxious.
Regardless, Toad takes the wheel by releasing sleep powder spores in the air, aimed at the bug-fire hybrid. Lena's eyes watch the battle, never the opposing trainer. The beautiful sleep powder display is disrupted by Toad's flower turning a sickly purple-brown as the sludge bomb gurgles to the surface. She can smell the poison attack budding before its released, and the sticky sludge explodes from the ivysaur's back in the larvae's direction. Lena can only hope that a) Toad's aim is on point today and 2) Larvesta won't be fast enough to react.
ivysaur - 20 - 100% used sleep powder! used sludge bomb!

That first move had not gone in vain, the sleeping power proving too quick of an attack to dogde and put the larvesta into a deep slumber almost immediately. The sludge bomb followed soon after, hitting its mark without fail. The sleeping larvesta would cringe although didn't react much after - - a sign that it hadn't been poisoned. And thankfully so.
"Not bad." He'd compliment as he returned the pokemon and brought out another. Twas a Duskull, it's skull face blankly staring at the adversary's visage. "Ice beam. Twice." He'd quickly follow, not a care given that the woman could've heard him. The dusksull would conjure a sphere of sheer ice and pulsate it towards the Ivysaur. It'd shimmer and repeat.
Hopefully they hit. As for Adrien, he'd lean back and ask. "Say, why are we battling anyway?" He'd cock a brow, unsure of how he got carried away in the first place.
Her lips purse as the larvesta is called back-- was he running? No, of course not. A ghost type takes its place, with sharp, icy blasts. Lena cringes as her Ivysaur takes them both in succession; she doesn't expect him to make it, not with all the rumors about grass types and ice moves she's heard. Yet, the icysaur is staunch in its position, face in a hard glare at its opponent. Toad has always been her most resilient pokemon, but his stubbornness makes itself obvious here. "Charge!" she offers in an attempt to direct the pokemon's thoughts to channel the sun. The sickly brown from the sludge bomb is replaced by a vibrant pink as the Ivysaur's blooming flower takes in the rays of the sun beating down so mercilessly above them.
She wants to heal the obviously battered ivysaur, yet her instincts know better than to go in with a solar beam on the way. She can only hold her breath and wait-- until the other guy wants to make conversation. She finally looks him over with a frown, just shaking her head. Truth was, she had no answer. This battle was a result of her frustration and embarassment for misreading a situation. Ordering him to fight her was her only solution; running was never an option, and there was too much shame in apologizing. "Don't worry about it."
Toad barks to his trainer for the release. A simple 'go' is given as a harsh beam of light pulses from the bloom on the ivysaur's back, aiming to scorch the duskull back to the shadow realm.
ivysaur - 20 - 20% hit by ice beam x2 ; -80% charging for solar beam! used solar beam!

"Don't worry about it?," He'd repeat quizzically before refocusing on the battle on hand.
Two consecutive hits apparently weren't enough. "Another round," He'd demand as the Ivysaur began charging up for what appeared to be a solar beam. The dusksull would hastily conjure another sphere and propelled it at the Ivysaur just mere moments before the beam struck the ghost pokemon. Struck by the concentrated beam Duskull would freeze in place as hell rained down upon it, Adrien only being able to witness with a cringe-like expression.
No doubt, the attack sufficed in nearly obliterating the pokemon evident as the skull pokemon now hovered unsteadily. Another, less stable ice beam was shot at the Ivysaur, though whether it would even hit its mark was left to be seen. "Stalk me, demand a battle and then refuse to answer," He'd deliberately be loud enough for the audience to hear.
"When did Eterna become so hostile?" Ended with a snide remark. Who was this woman anyway?
Lena only cringes as an ice beam returns fire as the solar beam is released. Toad is planted-- there is no stopping it. The ivysaur takes it head on, crying out as it falls back, fainted. Lena flinches as the second, more wobbily beam barely misses her knees. "Control your pokemon!" she snaps, not only annoyed but distraught. It's not over. Not yet. She's not going to let Toad fall, not yet. The single revive she purchased for cases like this lingers in her mind-- she frantically searches for it, tearing open the little square packet and dumping its contents into the Ivysaur's mouth, between parted jaws. In a matter of seconds the Ivysaur stands once more, angrier than ever, body heaving and huffing as it pushes itself to its feet, glaring red eyes never once leaving the teetering duskull. Trees sway behind Lena as their leaves are stripped right off of the branches, leaving a large patch of foliage bare. The leaves sharpen to razors, and the attack presses with a gust of wind.
Lena ignores the murmurs around her, ignores the fact that her embarrassment swells every time the man opens his mouth. She remains silent. Nothing she says will matter here, and she refuses to even talk about an agreement to end the battle and go home. The mumbling of agreement from onlookers only make her angrier-- her phone buzzes from her pockets; her parents have heard the rumors of her arrival.
She tucks stray blond hair behind her ear and steels her face. Never let them see you cry.
ivysaur - 21 - 50% hit by ice beam x2 - 0% / fainted lena uses 1 revive on ivysaur! ivysaur uses razor leaf! gained 1 level from "round 1" [confirmed w/ admin]

"..." Adrien didn't comment when the ice beam went astray. It wasn't the first time someone had told him to control his Pokémon. Eyes narrowed when the woman prepared to revive her Ivysaur. "Stubborn... " He'd murmur. The revived graas type quickly started off with a razor leaf attack which was enough to end the ghost type. The silverette would return the Pokémon as it slowly simmered down.
"Air cutter! Then Peck!" He'd order as he tossed out another. The skarmory would flap above the ground level and gave out a shrill cry as it locked onto the enemy. The bird would fray out its wings and with one swift movement, cross them in front and release a powerful blue-hued air-embedded attack at the Ivysaur.
Whether it hit or not, Skye would follow up with a peck and would hopefully be able to end the Ivysaur again. Taking a moment to scan the woman's visage, Adrien would refrain from commenting further - - her sullen expression setting off a few alarms.
The fall of the duskull is only slight relief; Toad won this battle, but the next starts immediately, and it looks grim. Toad is still calming down from his pseudo leaf-storm when the starp bursts of air slice his skin from the metallic bird above. The shimmering spot on the ground is the only thing Lena can bear to look at; the sun shining off the pokemon itself is near-blinding. Lena has half a mind to make Toad use that extra sunlight for a solar beam, but it would be high risk with little reward. Instead, she offers assistance to her pokemon on the field in vocal cues. "It's coming back, just keep running! Don't stand in one spot!" The air cutter may have weakened the grass type significantly, but its little legs work like there's no tomorrow, ultimately dodging the razor sharp beak coming for its hide. Toad stumbles over himself as his jumps to the side. "Come back!" She's getting too excited, too anxious. Lena is too stubborn to let him go down, weak and defenseless. The stranger had coddled his first sleeping pokemon, and Lena wished to coddle hers. The ivysaur is absorbed into the red light of its pokeball, and a heatmor immediately replaced the grass-type.
"Incinerate." She can finally catch her breath-- both pokemon are on an equal playing field. What Heatmor lacked in levels he made up for in type advantage, and the two pokemon were equally healthy. Lena only hopes that this fire-type makes the cut to staying alive.
ivysaur - 23 - 10% hit by air cutter; dodged peck! recalled, swapped with heatmor!

"That Ivysaur is something alright," Adrien would commend (albeit slightly annoyed) as how the Ivysaur was able to dodge the finisher. The woman was quick to return and replace it with a Heatmor. "Dodge!" Adrien would dictate, alas the bird wasn't quick enough and was struck by the flames. A deafening cry escaped its break and was cut short as the man returned it.
"I'm actually enjoying this now," A wry smile as he tossed out his heliolisk. The hyperactive speed demon would skid around the make-shift battlefield awaiting orders. "Surf!" The lizard would immediately inhale and release a massive torrent of water from its maws, a small flood of sorts as it would attempt to engulf the heatmor. "Again!" Another surf would overlap the first. He was basically trying to drown the anteater.
"Can I get a name, at least?" Meanwhile, even in the heat of battle, Adrien would attempt to make casual conversation.
"We try." she's quick to comment, through his recognition makes her a little happy; hard work really is noticeable, but Lena will have to work harder if she wants to win battles like this. She has a bad feeling, only made worse by the two surf attacks that envelope heatmor, cutting off its air supply and ultimately resulting in its defeat. The water, uncontrolled past hitting her pokemon, splashes onto her as well, dousing the trainer from the midline-down. She frowns, huffs at the stranger, and wrings what part of her shirt out that she can. "That thing shouldn't be able to hold that much water," she grumbled. Heliolisk, with surf. Seriously? How annoying.
She recalls the heatmor from the puddle it lays in-- she can't blame the thing for losing, despite her bitterness toward it going down so easily. A small green psychic blob in the form of a solosis takes its place. "Light screen and then hidden power, please." More direct and gentle with this pokemon, it's obvious Lena hasn't had much time with it. Regardless, the little cell pokemon puts up a shield around itself before shaking the ground under it to release its hidden power-- rocks and clumps of dirt surround the psychic pokemon as it unleashes the move upon the heliolisk in the form of a boulder storm.
"My name is Lena."
solosis - 20 - 100% used light screen! [special dmg will be halved] used hidden power! [not sure what type, just go off any calculator]
