major news alert!
witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
[attr="class","smdbody"]oreburgh was a fairly relaxed town. the atmosphere was cool and peaceful, much to liam's liking. the only thing that caused uproar was the mine, but it was near the outskirts of the city so it wasn't really affecting anything, only nearby neighbours. the museum was pretty good too, but he still hadn't found the time to visit that.
other than that there was nothing to do really. he spent his free day just wandering around the city, bouncing from one place to another. they had some decent malls but none compared to the one in veilstone. so he ventured to the outskirts of town nearing the routes.
that was when he saw something that he could not just ignore. someone... kicking a pokemon? he walked over with an agenda.
Jason has always liked Oreburgh due to its homely atmosphere. It's old fashioned -- with a giant mine as the center of its commerce, there is little need to improve its tourism and hospitality. It's leagues away from Hearthome, where those who live native to the city are the minority. Jason reckons that he'll visit the Museum one day, if he wants to spend little time in the city.
Today he only plans to tour the area. With his Umbreon by his side, he can take the time to relax. Kaede leads the way -- as she normally does -- and walks to the outskirts of town. It's naturally more pokemon infested, but Jason has never been worried about that.
The sidewalk that he walks along is in good condition, but relatively barren save for a few people. Jason reckons that he's on the very border between route and city, and his prediction about pokemon is correct when one pops out of the bushes.
To say that he's surprised is an understatement. Kaede could handle the pokemon perfectly on her own, but Jason can't help a knee jerk reaction. He instinctively kicks the pokemon out of the way, instantly looking at Kaede and scratching his head sheepishly.
It's not long before someone comes over, someone who probably saw the scene and assumed that he's abusing pokemon. He's angry, and that only serves to rile Jason up as well. He may have kicked it, but it pales in comparison to what pokemon do anyways.
"What the fuck do you think I'm doing? I'm defending my pokemon."
[attr="class","smdbody"]if there was one thing liam truly hated it was violence against pokemon. he hated violence in general too, but he would often need to use violence when he's doing his job. that was one of the major downsides of being in galactic, and one he would change if he was leader.
liam heard the man's excuse and looked down at the umbreon that he had. it looked strong, or at least strong enough to take on the random wild pokemon that jumped at them. he perked an eyebrow, curious as to whether or not the man liked violence or was telling the truth.
"your umbreon could have handled it," he spoke. he walked closer to the two, one hand in his pocket grasping at a pokeball. he pulled one out and called out his milotic, who at this point was used to her trainer's quarrels.
"do you like hurting pokemon?" he asked. he leaned forward to whisper something to the milotic. "be ready to use disarming voice if he tries anything," he whispered. mira understood the order and flicker her tail.
"does your umbreon need to be taken away from you? for safety reasons?" he asked.
Obviously this guy doesn't believe him, and Jason can give him that because he knows Kaede is more than strong enough to take it on herself. He can't help but have a knee jerk reaction when a wild pokemon catches him by surprise, especially when it started attacking her. He admittedly spoils her, much to his detriment.
Jason snorts, because this guy's just asking for a pokemon battle, releasing his Milotic and whispering to it. Kaede looks at him in confusion, and he's not exactly sure what to do, but he's definitely not going to run away. If the stranger wants to battle, Jason's happy to oblige, but he looks way too confident for comfort.
"It was an accident. I don't go abusing pokemon in my free time, so if you're looking for a moment to look heroic it's not here."
What he did to that wild pokemon is no worse than what other pokemon do to each other on a daily basis, even at the hands of their trainer. He's a firm believer in fairness. If this stranger's Milotic proves to be strong, then he's sure to be a hypocrite, because rarely does a pokemon ever progress without battling another. He glares at the stranger, about ready to leave.
"I don't believe you have the authority to do that, so you can go fuck yourself."
[attr="class","smdbody"]it was ironic of him to say that he hated violence but he still constantly asked for it. he understood that it was hypocritical of him, but he couldn't help it sometimes. especially when he gets heated, which is what was happening now as he stared at the boy.
seeing the boy being so cocky and confident annoyed him even more. it was like he didn't care that he was being confronted. liam just felt useless to a point, almost invisible.
and so he gave in to his aggression and hypocrisy. "scald the umbreon," he whispered to the milotic. immediately after he finished the milotic shot out a stream of hot water at the umbreon, not even being careful to avoid the trainer that stood behind it.
The other guy didn't even grace him with a response, only an order to scald his Umbreon. In a panic he grabs Kaede and is barely able to leap out of the way of the attack, steam burning where they were just standing. Splashes of scalding water touch his clothes, luckily not hot enough to burn. "Hypocritical much? You should be arrested for assault." While Kaede is fully capable of taking the attack, he'd rather see her fur unmarred and clean.
And as much as he'd rather not let Kaede fight at the moment, it seems that he has to. She's ready to go as soon as Jason gives her the okay, delegating the moves to her own discretion. Pokemon battle on instinct, and to have a human determine every step inhibits their natural responses to attacks. Jason is a firm believer in freedom rather than control.
"Try confusing it first." He points out. It's always good idea to disarm the opponent before they have a chance to attack. Kaede listens and executes a CONFUSE RAY with orbs of light, and attempts a SHADOW BALL as a follow up attack.
