major news alert!
witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.

GG was waiting. She'd finished up at the pokemon center first, and was now waiting on her supposed partner who she'd just beaten in a battle. She tapped her fingers on her arm impatiently, Kitty pacing around at her feet. Both parties were eager to get this show on the road and she flicked a lighter between her fingers, flicking it open and closed.
When Keanu finally approached she sighed dramatically, flinging her arms in the air and closing her eyes to avoid eye contact.
"About time! Let's get started, get your gross fox out."
She flicked the lighter on, glancing around for some dry brush to set alight. While she didn't have a fire type pokemon she did have a trickster of a cat and enough common sense to know how to set fires. She set some dry brush alight, fanning the small flame and grinning to herself as she set a large branch on fire.
He arrived to hear GG talking ill about his Fennekin. "Gross?" Obviously he felt offended by extension, as it was Keanu's pokemon. "Not as gross as that bandanna. Do you ever wash it? You know, after you sneeze or something. I sure hope so." She may have thought it looked intimidating, but Keanu actually kind of hated to see her wearing it. For one, it meant she was scared of betraying her identity. And secondly, it was pretty cliche for criminals to wear such a thing. Everything about her screamed that GG was still a child at heart, and the whole being a 'second generation of Rocket' was some kinda game. He really didn't understand why she made that kind of distinction.
Regardless, Keanu obliged by sending out his Fennekin, which seemed as healthy as ever. "And she's a lot more useful than your shitty little lighter." He smiled, pointing to a row of trees and foliage that were to the side of the path they were on. "Light it up with a fire blast." Fennekin nodded, obeying the command and lobbing fire towards the vegetation. The collision caused an eruption of sorts, and sounded something like an explosion. The silence of the area was now whelmed with the cries of wild pokemon, and the crackling of burning wood. "Again." Fennekin aimed for another mass of trees, shooting the second fire blast along the tall grass and causing the whole place to start burning from the ground up.

as she turned the corner, scarlet smelled fire and saw chaos. she heard scared pokemon, fleeing pokemon, kindling and fire and desparation. she saw red and black and crisp and tears and two people without care. and she felt fury, silent, utter fury.
no. absolutely not. this wouldn't happen.
carefully, the girl pulled out her phone and dialed the emergency line, making sure to stay out of sight of any suspects. "hello? there's been an attack on route 201. arson. ...yes, i can. i'll try." scarlet hung up. they told her to battle whoever caused it. she would.
she sent out slowpoke. the pink pokemon immediately perked up, and tried to pay as much attention as it could. "get rid of as much fire as possible without being seen by those people. ask for help from other pokemon." the slowpoke nodded and went to do so, trundling off into the foliage. she could already hear water pulses being shot off in the distance.
the girl walked towards the two people slowly. no use for words. her sneakers snapped burning branches as the world burned around her. slowly, she raised her remaining poke ball with grim determination. "..."

Admittedly there was a bit of backstory behind the bandana. She didn't wear it so much as to hide her identity as much as she wore it to protect herself from prying eyes. She wasn't the most confident person on the planet and it kept people from seeing too much of her expressions. It made her feel vulnerable without it yes, but that was personal preference. She didn't care if people knew who she was. She cared what they saw though.
"What I do is none of your business recruit."
She muttered bitterly, ignoring the fact she was a recruit herself. She sighed and put her lighter away and let Keanu handle the biggest of the worries, and grinned behind her bandana. The world was ablaze in the glory of fire and smoke, and there was a loud chittering in the air. She heard several cries as the fire spread bold and fast, and outstretched her arms with a gleeful laugh.
It all turned sour when she turned to the source of the sound of movement behind her. She squinted at the girl, roughly the same age as her, and looked her up and down. Some nobody who was going to try and stop them.
"Keanu I got this, keep setting fires. Hey! You got a problem!?"
"Whatever you say." GG might have thought she was better than him because she won the battle, but there would always be a next time. Not only that, but she was only a recruit herself. The fact she couldn't do much more than use a lighter in this instance only boasted Keanu's usefulness to Team Rocket. He'd let her battle the girl who approached them, though, and gesture for his Fennekin to come with him.
Together they'd veer off the path and delve into more tall grass, stopping only to light the tree aflame. The tall grass around them would catch fire soon after, and they'd be able to keep making their way through the vegetation ensuring that every last blade of grass would burn.
scarlet inhaled. the smell of fire. of smoke. of destruction. it was sickening to her stomach. the rangers would take care of it when they came. but until then... it was her, and only her, who could prevent this. something in her blank eyes blazed in intensity.
scarlet raised her poke ball fully, before throwing it out fully towards the woman's feet. a pikachu appeared, electricity crackling in his cheeks. "piii..." the mouse pokemon begun to slowly circle around the woman. scarlet blinked, before sending out her command. "nuzzle." the pikachu begun to run towards the woman, cheeks glowing like neon.
nuzzle would be enough to incapacitate the woman. status effects affected humans as well as people, and scarlet was fairly certain she was within her rights to inflict paralysis to a criminal.
in the meantime, the slowpoke in the forest kept firing off water pulses and water guns, following the path of destruction. the water-type unknowingly begun to trail after the other rocket and his fennekin, quietly dousing anything they lit up and preventing any further spread. sadly, there weren't any pokemon to help; most of them had fled the area. a path of wet ash followed fire.

GG wasn't exactly prepared for an attack on her person. Then again she wasn't entirely unprepared either. After the galactic incident with Naomi she'd been looking more and more at her surroundings, and she touched her side for a moment before her gaze hardened. She glanced over the strange girl and shook her head in undisguised detest, and tossed out her own pokeball just as the pikachu attacked.
Kitty collided with the pikachu in mid stride, trying to knock the pokemon aside. GG yelled out from the sidelines words of encouragement as Kitty tried her hardest to protect her trainer. GG took a few steps back, hands on her hips and huffing under her breath, gaze firmly fixed on the mini battle.
"Kind of rude to attack a person don't you think?"
She asked in a mocking tone. She didn't think this would take much effort, and wondered how Keanu was doing.
The smell was getting worse, a sharp hissing sound coming from behind Keanu and his Fennekin as they pressed on. Looking back they could easily see that the fire had been doused, and some of the vegetation still remained, albeit charred black. His pokemon turned and walked back the way they had came, still blowing it's fire. That was until it too was doused by a wandering source of water...
"What do you think you're doing...?" Apparently there was a Slowpoke following behind them, and Fennekin's fire seemed to attract it's attention. By the looks of it, they appeared to be the one responsible for outing the fire. "That little bitch sent you, didn't she?" He tried to see if it would answer, but the damned thing just blankly stared at him, it's mouth held open. "It'll be a miracle if I don't bury you tonight..." Keanu reached inside his slacks for the poke ball containing the appropriate pokemon for this match-up. Fennekin wasn't suited to battle this guy, and was obviously tired from all of the fire it had been breathing.
scarlet scowled a little more and continued her attack. she couldn't afford to make the fire worse, so she couldn't use discharge. the cat seemed easy enough to hit point black, so scarlet decided to make it simple. "thunderbolt."
the pikachu, reeling from the purrloin's impromptu attack, charged his cheeks and channeled a bolt of lightning towards the cat. light crackled and sizzled and blasted, but it was all in one spurt, focused. simple attack. not much to it.
the slowpoke, not understanding the concept of disobeying orders, simply put out any remaining fires while keanu grabbed another poke ball.

Okay so the unfortunate news was that the pikachu was pretty strong, and also faster than Kitty. Kitty took the direct hit, and yowled. With that in mind she absolutely did not want to keep battling, and ran behind her trainer. GG was a bit in shock, literally from the static electricity pouring off of Kitty, and metaphorically. She looked behind her to see that the fires had mostly been put out, and her heart dropped into her stomach. They'd still managed to cause a significant amount of damage to the route, but not as much as GG would like.
Shaking with rage the girl would clench her fists, glaring in the strangers direction.
"You absolute jerk!! You ruined everything! Who do you think you are!?"
The Slowpoke was as dumb as it looked. Keanu released his Gastly as soon as it started putting out more fires, and since it was committed to that act, their attacks had a high chance of going through. "Gastly, use hypnosis and then nightmare." Soon enough the Slowpoke would experience the reason why a single pokemon shouldn't trifle with a member of Team Rocket.
All the while Keanu heard GG yelling in the distance. He gestured to his pokemon to follow, choosing to ignore the Slowpoke after their attack. He almost wanted to kick it along the way to the ruckus, but that would waste time. Whatever was going on, Keanu would be better off seeing why instead of trying to light more of this route on fire. Besides, enough damage was done. The place smelled of burnt foliage, and was barely recognizable, what with all the trees slumped over or burst into pieces by his Fennekin's fire blast.
