By now, Oliver knew this city like the back of his hand. He had been a cop for about ten years on the streets of Jubilife, and then detective for a few more after that. At the moment he was at his favorite bar, a hole in the wall kind of place that was mostly locals. It wasn’t fancy, a bit on the dim and dusty side, but he liked it. He came here a lot to think, to kick back and have a few when he was growing frustrated with his cases. Oliver commonly credited Jenny’s Bar to be the reason he cracked a few of his cases, when the answers occurred to him after he relaxed. He had a lot of fond memories here, that was for sure.
At the moment, he was lost in thought in his usual seat. The blonde didn’t regret his sudden career shift, but he was contemplating what he should do next, exactly. While he had the general idea of training up his pokemon team and climbing the Ranger ranks, he knew there was more he could be doing. He just had to figure it out. With a heavy sigh, he took another swig of his crown and coke, his mind still too clear for his liking since he just got here a couple minutes ago or so. “Keep them coming, Jenny,” he nodded towards the bartender, the owner herself behind the counter tonight. They were good friends by now, considering he had been a regular for about two decades. open

call me a safe bet; i'm betting that i'm not. | | [attr="class","box"][attr="class","scrollz"]There was certainly a lot more that the rangers could be doing, considering that Team Rocket just took over Jubilife tower. Andris puts out his cigarette in an ashtray. He's really not sure why everyone was so excited. First of all, the mayor was easily replaceable. The people elected him every few years. Secondly, a mafia and an evangelical terrorist group had markedly different goals. None of his activities would be affected by an overnight uptick in criminal elements. It seems that none of the Rockets had done their own research. Even so, they could be fatally distracting, given the opportunity. Andris sits back into his seat and blows out a cloud of smoke. He turns to the man beside him. "Could you spare a cigarette? That was my last." He wasn't a heavy smoker, but he allows himself the indulgence tonight. OLIVER HAYES |

Truthfully, Oliver felt like it wasn’t his job to help with the situation with the mayor. He trusted the Jubilife police department to handle it, after having been lead detective for years and a cop for several more before that. The rangers typically handed the safety of pokemon more than the safety of people anyway, this entire mess would likely be out of his jurisdiction. Besides, they police chief had his number. If they really needed him, they could call.
Right now, the blonde just wanted to stop thinking for a little while. This whole mess left a bad taste in his mouth. “Hm? Sure,” Oliver muttered when the man next to him asked for a cigarette, pulling a pack out of his jacket pocket and pulling one out for the other. For a moment he paused, before grabbing one for himself as well. He didn’t smoke much either, typically only when he was stressed… Which was far more often than he’d care to admit.
“Here,” he offered as he pulled a lighter out of his pocket as well, lighting the other’s before his own. Looking up at the screen, he couldn’t help but scoff as it was more coverage of the mayor’s abduction. “Can you believe this shit? I would have thought a crime ring would try to be more discrete,” he grumbled, before chasing his words down with another swig of his drink. @andris

call me a safe bet; i'm betting that i'm not. | | [attr="class","box"][attr="class","scrollz"] Patience will reward him where naivete will not. Andris will remember. "Thanks." He holds takes the cigarette carefully. He would usually have a Pokemon out, being in public like this, but neither of his companions liked it much when he smoked. He is the master; it is undisputed. But is he in any danger here? Andris does not think so. "They probably are, when it matters. Else they would have been put down in Kanto." He spreads the taste of ash in his mouth. "The city could be a decoy." He shrugs, as if it were a logical conclusion that any layman could come to. That, and he's no child. OLIVER HAYES |
