major news alert!
witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
Black trenchcoat flapping around her heels, Rory blinked dark blue eyes up at the sky above her. Aside from a few cloudy wisps, the vastness of the clear blue was empty. No storms approaching. As her tongue swiped out to moisten her dry lips, she couldn't really taste anything other than the heavy dew on the grass beneath her feet. The storm last night had left the day feeling humid, and while Rory usually liked storms, that particular one had been a nasty bugger.
In response to her thoughts of the night before, Rory felt a frown tug at the corners of her mouth. Pursing her lips thoughtfully, Rory's eyes swiveled around carelessly before deciding to settle on the energetic Tepig at her feet. He was snorting enthusiastically, and at seeing her starter Pokemon, a small smile flitted across her face. Resting her hand on the second pokeball at her hip, her thoughts drifted in towards the Honedge that lay within it.
Both starter Pokemon, though Tepig was technically her first. " What should we do today, Theseus? " she inquired of the small pig-like Fire type at her heels. In response, Tepig let out a gleeful squeal and darted about Rory's feet happily.

Solaceon town was known for its friendly and rural atmosphere as any small town should be. It was not exactly a farming town as it was large enough to sustain a decently large population. That said the town did get its fair share of rain and other turmoils that always had rangers sent through to make sure everything was squared away. At least that was what Adrian would say as she was seen walking through the town after most recent storm had passed.
It was strange how much Solaceon town reminded the ranger of home. Perhaps that was why the woman did not mind coming to visit and patrol the grounds compared to a crowded place like Hearthome. Nevertheless she was here, taking in the humid air as she walked from place to place with her trusted partner keeping stoically by her side. Sooner or later, the duo would come across a person that the Elite Ranger did not recognize playing with a Tepig. This might not have been abnormal of course since trainers sometimes stopped by the town on their journey. Nevertheless, while it was not in her nature to start conversing with others if she did not have to, Adrian decided to question them. Technically she was on duty.
"Hey you," she said somewhat loudly to get the blonde's attention. In some strange effort in an attempt to be helpful and not particularly rude, she followed up with a somewhat innocent question, "Are you lost or something?"
Jerking her head up, Rory's dark blue eyes widened fractionally in surprise at the red-head a few feet away. " ...Possibly. " she replied succinctly, if not a little cryptically. Bending down to run her fingers against Theseus's spine. Rory quirked her mouth a little bit. The young Fire-type shivered in response to the touch, another happy squeal escaping him. A brief, fond smile quickly flashed its way across her face as the Tepig rubbed its body against her ankles.
Raising her face to meet the other's, Rory felt her lips twitch briefly. Shoving her hands in the black pockets of her trench coat, Rory tilted her head a fraction to the left. " How are you doing? " she inquired politely, shifting her weight to her right side. The Ranger Cadet lifted her eyes to the sky again, before narrowing them marginally and lowering her gaze to meet that of the red-head.
A brief uncomfortable feeling rose in her, and in an effort to hide it, she rubbed her fore knuckle under her chin. Shifting her gaze to the Tepig at her feet, Rory stifled the urge to shuffle her feet and bow her head slightly.

The response the ranger got was interesting to say the least. Not only had the response been brief, the girl ended up shifting her attention towards her own pokemon. The tepig looked pleased with the action but Adrian on the other hand looked less amused as her brow rose. "... Right," the woman said slowly in a measured tone. As long as the girl did not do anything stupid or hazardous to the locals, Adrian did not much care. The lack of answer and conversation? Perfectly fine. Saved her the trouble of continuing further.
Still the girl looked to be making an effort to interact as time passed, making eye contact and trying to start idle conversation. Nevermind that the question Adrian had asked was not fully answered. The ginger did not bat an eye as the blonde began to open up slightly, though noticed as her gaze moved around as if trying to dodge looking directly at her. The thought of the other being shy crossed her mind and while viable Adrian didn't change her attitude. Not particularly caring to play this game, she shrugged. "I'm alive," she responded curtly. Absol turned to look at his partner, looking less amused by the response. When Adrian noticed her partner’s gaze she internally sighed and spoke again. "So are you passing through town or were you looking for something?"
Dark eyes sparking in light amusement, Rory swallowed down the urge to flee, flee from the scene she was currently stuck in. Now what should she do? " Ah. " she muttered, mostly to herself. Opting for the defense mechanism she usually deployed, Rory glanced down at the Tepig at her feet with a blank mask. Then she flipped her head back up, a few strands of blonde dangling in front of her face. " Why no, I fell from the sky. " The blonde remarked sarcastically to the younger looking woman.
Shifting uncomfortably, she stifled the urge to yawn and turn back from the other female. " I actually live here, so I'm neither passing through or looking for something. " Rory snarked mildly. " What, can't I enjoy my day? " Oh, great. Sarcastic Rory appears again. Scoffing quietly under her breath, Rory glanced down at Theseus again and watched as he snorted energetically. A curl of smoke wafted from his nostrils, and emitting a soft laugh, Rory bent down to scoop up the pig-like Pokemon.
Letting out another happy squeal, Theseus snuggled in Rory's arms and huffed contentedly against her chest. Firmly supporting the fire-type with one arm, Rory stroked the orange and black half of him with a soft, if not absent expression. She would rather not go back to her parents' house, but she still lived within the city. Then she gained a thoughtful look. " It's also technically where I'm stationed. " she spoke aloud for a moment, before blinking at the other female rather dazedly. " Oh. Right. I'm Rory. "
IT'S THE SAME OLD STORY BUT YOU NEVER GET IT RIGHT
The sarcasm was not boding well to the amber haired woman. Raising her hand to the bridge of her nose in annoyance, the shook her head. This is why she did not like trying to be nice anymore. Her partner seemed to take notice of this and nudged his head into her left hand to grab her attention. It was successful of course as the redhead turned to look at Absol while stroking his fur which appeared to have calmed her. At some point the blonde had finally gave her some tangible information to work with. She lived here. Not only that but now the victim card came into play when all Adrian tried to do was offer assistance.
The hand at the bridge of her nose shifted to cover her eyes momentarily, rolling her eyes as she did so. No, she was not going to apologize. She did not view herself in the wrong here for trying to be helpful and doing her job. Thus she merely shrugged her shoulders, "I see." Before more words were said the other female also provided the apparent fact that she was stationed here. Adrian raised a brow at that since she was currently on duty in the area but it was not unlikely that more than one ranger was assigned to a location. That and patrol versus being in the area on duty was different... supposedly. All it told her was that the girl was a ranger for this town. "Is that so? Well far be it for me to interrupt you," now her voice was brimming with sarcasm which earned her a nudge from her Absol again.
Finally as Adrian was being tempted to leave, a name was offered. Internally the woman cringed from the name as it reminded her of another ranger that had the same name who was not particularly on her favorites list. Nevertheless, out of habit the woman returned the courtesy and gave her name as well. "Adrian." No last name was given so she did the same. "If you don't need any assistance I suppose I should get going."
