witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
Until recently, Dakota hadn’t cared much for capturing or training his pokemon, truthfully. He had been far more concerned with advancing his career in journalism, but after seeing the aftermath of the damage Team Galactic had done to Floaroma Town, he was determined to be able to actually do something. The blonde felt so guilty for not being there, for not helping. Just reporting on the news was nothing, if he could have actually done something to help.
That meant he had to gather a team of pokemon, ones strong enough to be able to stand up to the looming threat. While he knew he wouldn’t be able to do much on his own, he figured it was better than not trying at all. So he had a team in mind already, and he was only missing three pokemon to make it a reality: Jolteon, Ninjask, and Alakazam. Whether or not he’d have any luck finding them here on Route 214, only time would tell.
The blonde had healed his pokemon after his last trip quite a while ago, so they were again in fighting condition. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Eggman were all in their pokeballs on his belt, not wandering around with them out today as he jogged along the path, keeping an eye out for pokemon wandering around.
Well, shit. Dakota’s attention was grabbed by a passing Swirlix and he chewed on his lower lip for a moment. This certainly wasn’t what he was looking for, but just like with the Munna, he felt like his heart strings were pulled by how adorable the pokemon was. He had a weakness for cute things and he knew it, but it was something he usually kept under wraps. After a moment he sighed, knowing damn well he couldn’t pass it up.
“Don’t judge me, Tails,” he grumbled after he threw out the pokeball for his Ponyta, as she was the only one so far of his team who knew of his weakness for catching the cute pokemon. Tails huffed in amusement, readying for battle since she knew what was to come. “With how small it is… Just keep stomping ‘til I say stop, that should work,” Dakota mused aloud, knowing that the wild pokemon generally didn’t use the best strategy and were easier to fight against. He didn’t need some elaborate strategy.
Tails was considerably faster than her opponent, and stomped on the poor little Swirlix’s head. In retaliation, the wild pokemon used fake tears, which made Tails feel guilty and she backed off a couple steps. “Don’t fall for it,” Dakota called out, and Tails reluctantly nodded and stomped again on the puffball. Next the smaller pokemon used play nice, which lowered Tails’ attack. Once more Tails stomped down on Swirlix, and the injured pokemon used fairy wind after to finally deal some damage.
“That’s good,” Dakota called out before Ponyta could attack again, throwing out a pokeball and staring at it wiggling on the ground to see whether or not he was successful.

"Great job, Tails," Dakota said as he returned his Ponyta to her pokeball, figuring he'd just bring out whichever one would be best against the next pokemon he came across that he wanted to catch. Climbing a nearby tree he saw a Joltik, but he didn't pay the bug type much mind. Sure it was cute, but not to the unbearable level where he felt as if he had to catch it. So he continued on down the path, continuing to search for pokemon he'd like to add to his party.
Again, the next pokemon that Dakota came across wasn't very appealing. The croc didn't seem like it could be nearly as fast as what he was looking for, and it wasn't adorable enough to break his resolve to the point he had to catch it. So the journalist merely kept walking, a bit disappointed when he didn't really see anything else after that either. Maybe he'd have better luck next time, he told himself as he tried to stay optimistic. If not here, he'd find what he was looking for somewhere else eventually.
