major news alert!
witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
fidel, despite popular belief, did not permanently live in hotel rooms and pokemon centers.
well, it was a fair assumption, all things considered. doesn't live with her mother legally any more, officially moved out of canalave, and on the road ever since she started her journey. she'd understood why x, y, or z thought she was some homeless trainer without anywhere to go. however, despite all that, despite every other sign that she lives in a tent in the middle of a route, it wasn't true. fidel bolivar had a home address.
not that she'd been to it any time soon. she tended to hustle, y'know? and when you hustle, you go through as much as you can without burning out, no stopping. that's the motto. but... after eterna city, after a whole week of alleyways and blood on her fists and finally getting that gym badge, after waking up in the pokemon center with the drapion she'd blacked out fucking fighting, fidel remembered she was human. she... she needed a break. a breather. she could challenge whatever gym she wanted later.
so she bought a train ticket, sat her ass down, and went home. two blocks here, seven blocks there, and she was in front of an apartment building. a bit of walking, and she was on the third floor. fidel now stood in front of a door. keys. her keys? where are her keys? fidel fiddled around with her bag for a moment, thinking that she'd dropped them in the month's worth of excitement. nope. right there. side pocket. right.
she wondered if... nah. she's probably on her job right now, she wasn't home. it was nearly noon. fidel blinked, dispersing the thought, just eager to sink into her couch and sleep for forever and a day. that was the biggest thing on her mind, really. a time off. the doorknob opened, and fidel walked in tiredly.
she then looked up, and grew the stupidest grin on her face.

[attr="class","monbody"]when taar entered the apartment, she found it empty for the… countless time. they haven’t seen each other in exactly two months and a half, exactly. she didn’t stop wondering if she would appear as a surprise to simply crush her soul and restore it in matter of seconds. however the sergeant couldn’t help but feel proud of fidel for accomplishing so much during her journey. she knew there were some things left out of the texts and phone calls, but she was just glad to hear from her.[break] on a particular day, taar arrived sooner than expected from work. it gave her time to shower properly, with the perk of hot water washing down tensed muscles after chasing around some trouble makers across town and, in addition, dirt (because the amount that was accumulated during the chase was enormous). and prepare some decent food for dinner. in the meantime, since it was early in the evening, she called her pancham out to play. no other pokemon of hers seemed energetic enough, so she left them be, resting on their respective pokeballs.[break] hale seemed to be enjoying being lightly thrown in the air and caught in retrospect as she sounded her general name in a constant exciting rhythm. the ranger was hanging upside down on the couch whilst playing with her pokemon, when her head turned to the sound of a key on the door and her heart skipped a beat. the figure that showed up didn’t seem real at all, but real or not, taar’s reaction was genuinely true. “you’re home.” she sat properly smiling like a fool, eyes watered to the sight of someone she’s missed like crazy. crazy enough to bother her everyday with text messages and some funny pictures of her pokemon. hale was off to god knows where now, so she shrugged off the need to know her whereabouts to attend the other. [break] taar hugged her tightly. ”you were gone for so long.” she held her closer, chin pressed firmly on fidel’s shoulder. she felt like home. to brush off that tingling feeling on her entire spine (which she obviously knew she wasn’t supposed to feel), she would step back slowly and give fidel a friendly peck on the cheek before running off to take a pan of boiling water off of the flames and prepare two cups of tea.
"i'm home! i'm home, i'm home, i'm home, i'm home!" fidel repeated happily, pulling taar into a tight hug. it felt like every bone in her body stopped tightening, stopped pulling themselves into a tense, tangled rope, and all her stress just vanished. fidel melted into taar's arms, her grin only getting bigger.
it was at this moment that fidel realized... she'd never really realized how rare this feeling was in her life. coming home. having someone welcome you. she never had that in canalave, never really had that in the hotels and pokemon centers. sure, her pokemon were amazing, but there was just something about smell and touch and sight and sensation that... that fidel could look forward to. it was all so vague, so abstract, but it was there, there, so gloriously there. and fidel wanted more. she wanted this all the time.
ah, she had been gone for far too long, huh? "sorry, you know how i do." fidel scratched the back of her head, slightly embarrassed, before a peck on the cheek made her smile again. something boiled in the background, and taar went to go take care of that, leaving fidel to slump on the couch and sigh in bliss. man, her entire week just got a thousand times better. deciding to release one of her pokemon (not any of the heavy ones, in fear of the apartment breaking), fidel threw out her espurr's poke ball.
key the espurr emerged onto the grounds, looking around curiously with wide, purple eyes. "...purr es?" she inquired, scanning the environment with her psychic powers and finding a particular pokemon in the shape of a panda to the side. deciding to investigate, the psychic-type made to chat with the pancham. fidel took in her surroundings, and the sound of taar in the other room, and begun to smile again.

[attr="class","monbody"]taar caught a glimpse of fidel’s espurr and hale with the corner of her eye, she grinned at the scene and turned to the long lost girl. with two cups in hand, the ranger gave one to the other as soon as she reached the couch. when she sat down and took a sip of the beverage, she left the container on the table in front to fully give the proper attention to the girl. "you okay, el? hope you missed me as much as i did you." lips twisted at her direction. "it was about time for you to come back. i’ve been alone here for almost two weeks."
"of course i did, i-- yo, goddamn. it's been too long." fidel stammered a bit, still trying to get used this... safe feeling. it was warm and fluffy and welcoming inside her, and despite all her experiences, fidel never really got used to this. "argh, i should-- should have-- come back. more often. i just..."
fidel trailed off, not sure what else to say. turns out that a past of being on the move made her very, very foreign to the idea of a house with people who wanted her back. she picked up her tea and took a sip, calming her nerves. "...sorry, it was the hustle, and protecting my pokemon, and all that." fidel tried and failed to wave off, sporting a fairly abashed blush. "blame the galactics for keeping me away, taar."
"though, i got two gym badges already!" fidel sprang into excitement, like a kid showing off to their parent. taking out her badge case, fidel opened it to reveal the coal badge and the forest badge, the two badges shining in the light. "took a bunch of training and a few scratches, but--" fidel pulled something in her back, aggravating her healing back from a drapion's claw piercing it. "--owowowowow. but, ah, i did it."
[attr="class","monlyrics"]Been waiting on that sunshine
[attr="class","monbody"]“wish i could’ve been there for you.” mindset quickly sets itself into an apologetic gaze. she’d only known of fidel’s struggles when everything had already been taken care of. when the ranger’s lips curled to lead to a comforting phrase, the trainer got to her first. to the mentioned of her companion’s accomplishments she could only smile proudly whilst she inspected her excited expression. [break] once again when her mouth partly opened about to congratulate the other, she was startled by the complaint. she stared worried about her friend, trying to figure out what the problem was. in her mind she’d determine it without having to ask. she was clearly wrong. “what.. are you okay? did you get hurt?” hands approached fidel carefully, not to misguide her touch to wherever the wound was, only to stop herself midair, drawing them to the empty space between them on the couch.
a stab of pain echoed in fidel's back, tingling from her wound to the rest of her body. as shallow as it was, the thing was big, and fidel forgot far too often than what was healthy. "ah, shit..." fidel winced and leaned forward to try and ease the pain away. fucking hell, that stung! "just the result of a pokemon battle, man, don't worry about it."
fidel really, really didn't want to worry taar. her friend had been through enough shit on her own time, she didn't need to start worrying about fidel's stupid ass, too. fidel leaned back into the couch and forced a smile, crossing her arms to focus on something other than her injury. "so, how've you been? i haven't been home in forever, is everything alright?"
[attr="class","monlyrics"]Been waiting on that sunshine
[attr="class","monbody"]she is to underestimate whatever it was that fidel thought when hiding the injury from her. the turn of stomach is enough to warn her that her thoughts were crossing some anxiety boundaries, which wasn't okay at all. she's quick on her feet, passing two creatures in an outgoing conversation, grabbing medical lotion from the bathroom cabinet and gifting it to the other as soon as she gets back to the same position she was in a couple of minutes before. her smile is of a kind soul, responding with a dismissive tone. "i've just been working... a lot. got some new friends to enter my team. they're amazing." lips touch her fuming cup of tea, drinking some of the hot liquid whilst eyes remained focused on her long lost friend. it had been too long. "if you plan on being here for more than a day, i'll introduce you to them."
