major news alert!
witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
the silverette gave him nothing, absolutely nothing. the violence, the torture, all for nothing. no more did he hold the same moral values as before, beliefs dropped and replaced with anger and despair. so was life.
the streets of pastoria was empty at this time of the night. the sound of waves crashing echoing the streets. the boy had just arrived after travelling the route, hours after his little encounter with the other spy.
it was nearing midnight, the street lights barely providing any vision as he walked on the cobblestone ground. eyes stared downwards at the path that lead, not focused on any of his surroundings.
there was no need to, for once he had the upper hand, had the lead. there was no more fear behind the boy's eyes, instead, determination. though maybe he should have been a little bit more careful, seeing as what he did to the silverette might bring some consequences.
The meeting had gone nothing short of unexpected, and as she departs Lena has half the mind to stay in Pastoria for the night. She signals their destination toward the main town-- it's only a matter of minutes before she hears a small chatter from the Staraptor-- it banks downwards, without command. Lena is puzzled, annoyed, and tired. Her mind is a melting pot of not only new information, but regret about old situations. No matter what she does, he won't leave her head. Liam haunts her-- she doesn't know how to react when they would inevitably encounter once more. Friends, enemies, strangers? It puts a knot in her stomach, one that only makes her something akin to a disaster by the time the Staraptor lands, behind the sleeping pokemon center. Lena wants to scold the bird- she turns to do so, only to be flipped around by nimble talons and pushed forward. The bird takes off, leaving her stranded. Her lips are stuck in a frown as she creeps forward to see the presumed source of the Staraptor's disobedience--
The very problem that had been on her mind. She feels frozen and burning hot all at once. Galactic doesn't matter anymore, not in this moment. She still has to prove herself, make a sincere apology whether he believes it or not. Regardless of Liam's ability to see her as she steps into the light, her heart races again. Emotions do something dumb, hormones run rampant. Her pace toward the young man is hardly short of a run, the long, rushed strides enough to let him know that she isn't there to sulk around.
He won't have time to think, not when her body seems to melt against his as she pushes herself against him, not as she stands on her toes to reach his lips, not when she grasps each hand firmly in her own. The dense tree coverage proves to be more useful than before as she uses it as leverage to hold him against. When she pulls away (albeit reluctantly), her voice is hushed and she speaks quickly.
his heart raced, mind full of questions that seemed to lead to even more. everything was a blur, the glance upwards, the recognition, the kiss, all of it came in an instant, flooding him with emotions he could not quite comprehend. instead, he embraced the emotions, reliving the fond memories of that one evening.
blue eyes opened to meet hers, his voice hushed like hers. "i don't hate you." he never did. there might have been resentment, but all of that faded away. he didn't want to remember, he wanted to stay in this moment, stay in this safe bubble that he created.
but he couldn't.
after the best evening came the worst morning; he remembered, remembered the feeling of betrayal, the feeling of helplessness, the feeling of anger, and suddenly he was no longer in his bubble, no longer safe. but first, he needed to free his guilt.
"i'm sorry." his head leaning forward, forehead resting against hers, voice still hushed but carried a hint of sorrow. "what i said-- people like you, i was wrong, i was a jackass." hands still intertwined he slowed his breathing. "i guess it was easier for me to accept what you did if it were the case... but it isn't, and i understand now."
Adrenaline fuels her, heart beat racing-- it's all she can hear, even as he speaks. His words fall on not only deaf, but uncaring ears. She shakes her head, relishing the closeness. "Stop apologizing," she's at a whisper, too exhilarated to keep her breathing under control, let alone her words. She doesn't care about that now. It doesn't matter. His final words would be cut off early, muffed with a second kiss as she tries to shut him up, careless in her position. They're out of the light, the town is quiet. She doesn't have the patience to move them anywhere from where they are.
So she does the only logical thing, and leads him further into the surrounding thicket, pulling him down with her as she falls to the dirt and grass, only to flip him over after he presumably falls on top of her. It's obvious she's desperate, rushing, kisses line his neck without waiting for protest, reminiscent of the night that put them into this mess.
And they fuck.
It's not a secret, and it never will be. All she's set on is forgetting for one night, for pretending everything is okay, for reminding him that she's still here. She still cares, she's not changed-- not in spirit, at least. She claims him in every way she possibly can, refusing to let his grip on her go despite their recent events. Lena doesn't sleep that night, and she doesn't expect Liam too either. The whirlwind of events ends almost as soon as it begins, and when the sun begins to crest over the mountains in the distance she would take her leave, upsetting the balance of relaxation and relief. Lancer has been waiting- the bird hits the ground as she stands and puts herself together, hair still a mess, clothes still disheveled. She looks wild, and for the time being, she is.
and suddenly he forgot again, mind cleared of all worries, wandering back to that one night from before. this time the girl took charge, leading them away from the light. he obliged, following every order, every command, every lead, responding with aggression and an appetite for more.
a restless night.
when morning arrived the girl would make an exit, the bird soaring down from the sky to comply. his clothing, messy and dirty, now back on the spy as he looked on.
"i have no plans." the man replied truthfully. next up would most likely be the gym, but he feared that the man would be hot on his tail by now after finding out about the silverette. he knew she hasn't yet, and he wasn't so sure how she would feel about it.
"you?" he walked closer to the girl, his hair a mess as his hands found his pockets. he spared a glance onto the street, obviously paranoid about the consequences from the night before.
"are you going to see him?"aster. and suddenly just like that the night before was overshadowed by his hatred for the man, his face sporting a slight frown. but he wouldn't let the man win, not again.
a hand reached forward to grab hers, fully expecting her to pull away. but he didn't care, he had to try.
His response is surprising- her face shows it as she raises a brow, leading against the Staraptor as she waits for him to make up his mind. Expression stays stoney as she sees him make a move toward her- the bird looks down at the man, eyes narrowed, almost daring him to try anything. Lena pats the Staraptor and stands on her own again, obviously not as suspicious as the very raptor that but her in this situation.
"Cannot be disclosed at this time." Aster had given her her own assignments, and she was going to be forced to head back to Veilstone to get to her fourth gym badge the long way. The next question catchers her off guard, and she's frustrated with herself for not expecting it. A frown tugs at her lips, she glances away.
"I hadn't planned to, not today-" She doesn't have a chance to finish the thought before she feels herself tugged forward, incredibly close to him again. She rests her chin on his chest. "What did you wanna do instead?" there's almost a pout on her face, cheeks puffed as she puts her weight on him.
it was frustrating, to know that there was a chance he was being watched right now, or even knowing that his enemy knew where he was, or what he was doing. to know nothing back about the enemy was a true disadvantage, to be forced to look behind you to be sure you weren't being followed.
it was probably for the best that she wasn't going to see the man today. the boy would probably drop everything and do something irresponsible, something dumb possibly, like attempt to kill again.
her response surprised him, bringing a smile to his face again. he thought galactic would be her number one priority now, and even though she hadn't agreed to anything it felt nice to know that she was considering.
"i don't know, anything really." he sounded so unlike himself, but he continued, now supporting the weight of the girl as he looked into her eyes.
"come on, what's something fun you haven't done in a while? anything, name it."
the more time he had with the girl meant less time for aster and galactic.
"work can wait. i'm sure aster will understand."
cue a cringe at the mention of the name. it was clear that the boy fully resented him, but he kept a happy smile for the girl.
He radiates tension even now, leaving her curious as to what he could possibly be so worried about. Just Aster? She wasn't under the impression that the Spy bore any ill will to Liam, but she refuses to pry. "Hey, back in the moment." It's a grumble at best, the squeezes his hand quickly to make her point. His responses are more enthusiastic than she expects-- he's greeted with silence as she's forced to think.
Something fun? What used to be fun? Battling used to be fun, before it became a test of dominance. She used to climb stuff, that was fun. Fun... Lena realizes she hasn't had genuine fun in what feels like months, and the worry shows on her face. Eyes look to the side as she struggles to come up with anything, brows furrowed when she looks back at him with a shrug.
"There really isn't anything fun..." She sounds so sad, so disappointed that she can't come up with the slightest idea. "Work is kind of urgent," but she doesn't want to leave him on that note. Lena buries her face against him with a frustrated groan. "I like swimming."
It's the best she can come up with, besides doing aerial tricks with Lancer. Her mind is made up. They're going to swim. In one fluid motion she pulls away from Liam and slides onto the Staraptor. The bird hops off the ground, talons wrapping tight around Liam's shoulders as it ascends toward the ocean. A tucked away beach at the edge of Pastoria serves as the destination, and Lancer is instructed to gently put the man on the shore before a full landing. The sunrise is more visible here, the sound of waves lapping against the sand takes away any previous tension. She runs to the surf, up to her knees in the tide.
the smile faded slowly as he watched the girl struggle to come up with anything fun. the expression on her face, the shoulder shrug, her voice. he tried to come up with things he could suggest too, but soon realised that even he himself couldn't think of anything fun to do. it's been so long since he's had genuine (innocent) fun, the last time probably at the hotel in oreburgh with the girl.
work is kind of urgent.
no, no, please. his head screamed for him to say something or do something to stop her, to distract her from her work. luckily her response eased his worries for now.
"then let's go swimming." his face returning to its normal state when he's around her: happy. he was about ready to call out the arcanine to carry them to a beach but it seemed like the bird had it covered as it picked liam up by his shoulders, carrying both of them to a nearby beach.
the ocean felt like a second home to liam. canalave was a great place to grow up as a child, the beach only a few minutes walk away from his old childhood home. his feet sinking into the soft sand as he was placed gently by the bird. "thank you." a quick look out at the ocean and he was lost again.
the sunrise, the sound of waves forming and crashing, the birds, all of it blending together as he looked at the girl, a genuine smile on his face too. for a moment he was in cloud nine again.
"don't go drowning on me now!" he yelled back, jogging towards the sea. one hand reached behind his back and pulled, taking off his shirt and pants before tossing them onto the sand. and into the ocean he went, the floor steadily going downwards, deeper, deeper, until his feet no longer touched the bottom.
"come on." down under the water he went, eyes opened but vision blurred as he explored the sea life that surrounded them. everything from the fishes to the seaweed seemed to brought him joy. though as he popped back up to get a breath of air, he waited there for the girl to return as well.
"this is pretty fun." he laughed, feet swaying with the movement of the ocean. "thank you."
Lena forgets that wet clothes are a problem until she sees Liam's exposed skin again-- eyes linger before she smiles and steps out only to strip down to undergarments, despite the urge to go completely nood. Just because they were right outside of the city didn't mean nobody was around-- a black sports bra and short compression shorts serve as her swimsuit, her breath catching in her throat as she follows him deeper, cold water lapping her her exposed stomach.
"It's colder without clothes on," she protests, though playful. One dunk under the surf is all it takes for her body to get used to the water as she follows him out, paranoia of shark pokemon under her feet suppressed only because he was out so far. She goes under again, ignoring his warnings so she can explore the ocean floor, salt water irritating her eyes (not that she cares much, the view it worth it).
When she comes up for air she's closer to him, staying afloat with him, giddy and shining something reminiscent of a the innocent glee of a child. Lena's metamorphosis reverses, if only for a moment, and she feels like she just walked on to 201 all over again. "Why are you thanking me? This was your idea." The smell of sand and salt water comforts her, the pinks and blue hues of the awakening sky dazzle her.
And on the shore, a cell phone rings and rings, only to go unanswered.
"you could've said no and leave to do your work but instead you chose to stay." why? he'd like to think that it was because of him, and even though it probably was, there was still a small bit of doubt on his mind. he couldn't be too careful now, especially after what happened yesterday with the silverette, not to mention that he's probably stalling some important work the girl was supposed to be doing.
but none of that mattered right now as he floated peacefully in the vast ocean, with a girl he cared very much about opposite him, enjoying this as much as he was. "so thank you, for sticking with me, even if it is only for a day."
underneath the water a hand reached around to the exposed skin of her waist, pulling her closer to him. last night it was the girl who was in control, this time the roles reversed as lips met followed by the lost of already bare clothing. the movement of the ocean coupled with the water would make it a challenge, but they managed.
