Eternal City Gym was quite a themed up little place with an indoor garden and harsh sunlight peering through the skylight. It was sickening, the bright colours and glare making it difficult to walk without accidentally stepping on a pokemon. Stepping out of a pair of sliding doors, the gym leader would greet him with in the more...nerve-twitching way possible.
"I'm Gardenia, sinnoh's second gym leader, a grass-type master! you have a winning aura about yo--"
"Adrien..." He'd cut her short, eyes narrowed and shooting her the most irate stare possible. Nodding obliviously, the gymleader would send out her first pokemon - Cherubi. "Duskull. You're up!" He'd toss out a pokeball and sent out the ghastly pokemon.
"The challenger has the fir--"
"YES! I know. Duskull, go!" The silverette would roll his eyes, the dialogue these gyms used becoming rather repetitive now. The dusksull would pulsate a beam of ice (ice beam) at the cherubi, knocking it back as the sheer cold dealt some impressive damage. The cherubi would slowly get back on its feet and counter with leech seed.
The seeds were successfully planted on the dusksull and sapped a rather inconspicuous amount of health from the ghost type. "Repeat" And again the duskull would ice beam the little pokemon, this time successfully fainting it. The woman would return her pokemon and as would Adrien, now bringing out the Larvesta instead to battle against the gymleader's turtwig.
"Flamethrower!" The larva would sprout a massive flame stream at the turtwig and hitting it right on spot. The grass type would cry out in pain as the attack singed it and would struggle to get back on its feet. The turtwig would counter with a razor leaf attack, its power doubled courtesy of the Pokémon's overgrow ability.
Yet, the damage done was close to negligible. "Another." The second Flamethrower would successfully end it. "You're good!" The happy-go-lucky gymleader would comment and received just a forced smile in return.
She'd finally bring out her Roselia, it immediately attacking the larvesta with a poison sting. "Tch." The man cursed as Quira was now posioned, the effects eminent as it cringed in pain. "Flamethrower. Twice. Finish it." Two consecutive Flamethrowers were launched, the first that missed and the second that dealt a decent amount of damage.
The Roselia would counter with a magical leaf attack which alongside the poison sting had larvesta at its limit. "Just one more Flamethrower!" Adrien would command and the bug type would execute, finally finishing the grass type.
"Congratulations! You earned it." The woman would walk across to hand him his badge. Meanwhile, the silverette would pick up his larvesta - - proud and worried at the same time. He'd have to race out to the Pokémon center as soon as he earned that bagde.
