Monday morning, and it's time for a re-do of yesterday. No rain, no impromptu battles with stronger pokemon. Lena was going to stay at her level and, despite her automatic advantage with both Toad and Zuzu, she could have vomited right there, right on the spot, right at the gym leader's feet. Having snuck around the rock type trainers that picked off the weaker opponents who come to challenge Roak, Lena now finds herself across from him, sweat beading on her forehead, Bulbasaur at her side. The gym leader tries to ease her nerves with simple dialogue-- the basics, hello, how are you, etc. They make small talk before Lena finally pipes up. "I-I'm ready, we can begin, if you don't mind." God forbid she disrespect a gym leader-- she tries to keep her manners, giving him a small bow and nod after his 'very well'. "All right Toad, here we go.."
His Geodude takes the field-- the boulder pokemon looks strong. But not as strong as that abra, and not nearly as strong as the Milotic. This will be a synch compared to those guys-- she should remember to thank both of them for preparing her, even if they didn't mean to (and even if she forced them into it). Lena almost forgets what she's doing-- she may have an advantage, but her residual concussion makes it hard to focus. When she snaps back into it, Roark has alreadly laid out a stealth rock around her half of the field. Lena smirks. "Well I guess we just won't switch out then, huh?" The bulbasaur barks a happy agreement. "All right, vine whip. We have lunch scheduled in an hour!" For once, Toad's speed is higher than his opponents. The geodude can't block or dodge before vines wrap around its body and slam it into the rocky gym floor. Roark is frowning-- Lena can't help but wonder what he expected. Maybe he was just tired of all these trainers whooping him constantly. The Geodude is recalled, with Toad still just as ready to go as before.
Cranidos comes out next. It's cute-- Lena's admiration for it gets Toad hit; it's faster. "Ah! Sorry, sorry," She vows that's the last time she'll space out. The headbutt takes a chunk out of her bulbasaur, but he's none the less for wear. "Vine whip, again!" It's a miss. The cranidos is more competent-- Lena feels her face flush. Toad takes another headbutt, head on. "Wait! Grab it while it's close to you, and vine whip again!" Quick thinking saves her, this time. The cranidos can't run, not when it's still face-to-face with the bulbasaur. Strong vines wrap around its midsection and throw it into the air, releasing the pokemon only in time for those very same vines to smack back down on it with a large whip noise-- the fossil pokemon plummets to the ground, cracking the dirt it lands on. Victory number two.
Lena knows what's next. She had heard about it, she had seen it on TV. Toad is about to be very, very little. "Charge up for solarbeam." Lena refuses to give Roark any time. This is all going to be over soon. Toad sets itself up to collect the sun's rays that filter through the skylights as the Onix takes up the field. The rock snake snarls down at the pair-- Lena feels like an ant in comparison; she can't even image how her pokemon feels. Toad's red eyes glare up at the Onix, challenging it to make a move. It screeches at the bulbasaur, and begins to dig up the earth for a massive rock throw. "C'mon bud.. We're running out of time," Lena persists.
The Onix begins to charge. "Toad!" she calls, stomping her foot in the process. The bulbasaur is responsive- the solar beam has charged, and the Onix is in a straight path of destruction as the bright, blinding and hot beam of solar energy releases from the blooming bulb on its back. Toad experiences evolution while enveloping the Onix in its power. The rock snake falls, but Lena's adrenaline continues to pump. Her chest heaves, her clammy palms twist into fists. It's over.
