major news alert!
witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
8am. She's made it to the pokemon center, healed her team, and aspires to make it to the gym that doesn't open until... Monday. Standing outside of the facility Lena finally realizes that Sunday is a day where nobody does jack shit. Her head feels like it's on fire, whether it be from the concussion, the anger, or the disappointment. On the bright side, the pouring rain has subsided, and now only thick clouds and a thin layer of fog from the mountains hinders the rising sun. Dark circles claim the property under her eyes, and her shoulders slump as she drags herself away from the very empty gym.
The world is quiet.
Her head spins; she's overtired, injured, and too stubborn to just go and find a dry place to lie down. Instead, Lena wanders through the city, eyes fixed forward, wet bangs plastered against her face. Her silhouette almost makes the world look apocalyptic; the dead have risen.
Nope, just lil' ol' Lena.
The great thing about mild traumatic head injury is their ability to contort one's emotions. A stuffy nose is her first indication that she will, indeed, be crying in the next five minutes. It will be followed by anger, and most likely a temper-tantrum if nobody is watching. For a moment she feels out-of-body, her head dropped and eyes fixated on the cobblestone she stands on. Snufff.

[attr="class","sorry"]stupid galactic and their stupid missions. sunday was supposed to be a day for rest, a day for relaxation. but instead of doing that liam was doing the opposite; being forced to work for galactic and do their missions. this wasn't supposed to happen, spies don't do grunt-level missions, or even recruit-level missions, and he wasn't too sure why he was assigned this mission today. but there was nothing he could do about it.
so he sucked it up on this gloomy sunday morning and decided to get it done. or at least try, seeing as that was more appropriate for what he was doing at the moment. walking around town with his hands in his pocket, sulking wasn't exactly 'getting it done'. but it was his way of dealing with the shitty situation.
he ventured the lonely city of oreburgh, his head under the hood of his jacket as his eyes stared at the stone cold floor. he was going to push off doing this mission for as long as possible. he was looking for distractions, and one just so happened to walk into him, or him into it.
Exhausted and battered down by the world, Lena's patience and common sense have disappated. Her coping mechanisms have become faulty; every sound around her becomes a threat, every caw of the bird pokemon waking up makes her skin twitch. So when a huge sensory input of physically bumping into another human being comes around... well, she loses it.
"Why don't you watch where you're going, you piece of shit?!" Her head snaps up, her face turns bright red in frustration and embarrassment of acting out. She huffs and puffs, but the house won't fall down. "You know what? No. No. Here, come here, I-I'll, I'll show you what happens when, when you, wh- you bump into people all.. fuckin', willy 'nilly, and shit, here," her voice turns to an angry grumble near the end; she's fumbling with her pokeballs now. Lena has absolutely no clue what she's pulling out, but two flashes of light and two members of her team stand in front of her, baffled. "We're gonna fffight, she bounces on her toes, shaking out her arms. "Gonna teach you a lesson, that's for sure,"

[attr="class","sorry"]immediately he was met with anger and annoyance, the girl he bumped into clearly having an even worse morning than him. unlike usual he wasn't going to fight fire with fire, instead he took a moment to calm himself down, shutting his eyes. he wasn't looking for a fight this morning, but it looked like he was going to get one as the girl sent out two pokemon.
"woah relax," he said. he took a step back, his body posture immediately changing to a more defensive one. he too reached for a pokeball and called out his milotic, but he wasn't looking for a battle. he called her out for a more defensive purpose. he's been attacked by pokemon before and he wasn't looking for a repeat of that.
her pokemon looked much weaker than his milotic was, and that worried him. he was definitely trying to avoid a battle, but if she attacked first then he'd have no choice.
"look, lady, it's not too late to leave," he said.
"Lady? You think 'cus I'm a girl I can't battle you?" She straightens her back and shoulders- headache pain rings through her skull-- she loses her posture immediately. "I got news for you, mister, you gotta, pa, pay for running into people without looking! Y-You didn't even apologize!" Her eyes start to water, whether it be from the yelling or the vomit of chemical imbalances in her brain.
She glances around, some people are peeking out of their windows-- probably wondering who the fuck is yelling at this hour. Her whole body burns up. "Toad, leech seed!" she snaps, the bulbarsaur growling as it prepares to launch the life-sapping seeds from its bulb. "Martha--" The gastly is distracted, floating around the area, not at all interested in the battle. It levitates in front of the aforementioned window, spooking the children inside.
"God damnit Martha, get back down here! Mean look and put it to sleep!"
Her arms are crossed now, a slight pout on her lips as the pokemon reluctantly obeys, its eyes shining red with mean look's effects. Hyponotic waves follow, their target being the large serpentine-like pokemon.

[attr="class","sorry"]he shook his head, confused as to what the girl's intentions were. was she just looking for a battle? but she had a point; he didn't apologize. but why should he? she shared equal blame, both of them were not watching where they were going. but as he looked at the girl and her reactions he did feel a bit sorry.
"i'm sorry for--" he was cut off by the seeds that flew at the milotic. a pokemon battle was inevitable but he really did not want to let milotic attack them. one of her attacks would most likely cause them to faint, and that just didn't seem fair. but he couldn't stand there and watch the milotic take damage either, so he decided to stall.
"use aqua ring," he said. mira waved her tail and set up a ring of water that surrounded her. it basically negated all damage she would take from the leech seed, so he was just stalling the battle out for as long as possible before the girl would give up.
"hey, i'm sorry for bumping into you. but this isn't going to end well for your pokemon. let's calm down and talk about it," he said.
She only huffs at the apology, too distracted by the beautiful aqua ring display by the milotic-- words were too hard, anyway. For a moment, Lena forgets what she's doing there. All it takes is a glance at the stranger to remember, and for her temper to flare again. His attempts to talk her down only make her commit more to the idea that she can't turn back now. She shakes her head furiously, only grimacing from the extra, excruciating pain it causes.
"Too late, too late, we're doing this. Don't pussy out now."
She takes a deep breath to focus, and remember what moves her pokemon know. It feels like eons since she's used her bulbasaur in a battle. "Growl and vine whip, and you," she turns to the gastly, "Hyponosis, until you get it asleep. Lick, if you can." Both pokemon move at once, Toad keeping his distance as vines lash out against the milotic. The gastly floats to the Milotic's face, attempting to stare into its eyes to put it to sleep. Lena can only pout and watch, refusing to make eye contact with the other.

[attr="class","sorry"]it looked like the girl wasn't going to give it up and so he had no other choice. all the attacks hit the milotic one after the other, the vine whip being the one that hurt the most. but the level difference came into play here as the milotic barely seemed hurt by it. the hypnosis hit too, which made mira fall asleep. liam sighed.
"please stop," he pleaded. he reached for another pokeball and sent out his trevenant, who might not have been the best choice as it was even stronger than the milotic. but he didn't care at this point, watching the two pokemon gang up on mira was more than enough to change his mind about the battle.
"feint attack on the gastly only," he ordered. the trevenant rushed forward and in one quick motion vanished and reappeared next to the gastly, hitting it with one feint attack. the milotic was still asleep.
"i'll spare your bulbasaur," he said.
milotic - 23 - 80% fast asleep!
trevenant - 26 - 100% used feint attack on gastly! LENA RUDDY
One blink later and her gastly was a ball of gas on the ground. She grunts, grimaces, comprehends that this is the second battle where she's been significantly weaker than her opponent... and stays bad because of it. "No, No, so sick and tired of people having, stupid high levels," she huffs, recalling the ghost type and releasing a staravia in its place. Both of her pokemon are equally willing to fight, despite the obvious power difference. "Keep going Toad, and Lancer..." she squits trying to tell what the fuck that tree pokemon even is. It... It is a pokemon, right? Regardless. "Wing attack on the.. the thing" her lack of vocabulary turns to panic, panic turns to more annoyance-- with herself, but she has to outlet it somewhere.
"He doesn't need to be spared, wh-wwhat are you, some kinda criminal? Some kinda, some kinda poke-murderer?"
The bulbasaur sends out another lash of vines in the sleeping milotic's direction-- Lena would have felt bad for doing it, had she not been drunk of anger. Staravia soon follows, fluttering through the air, mutltiple illusions of its body filling the space above their heads-- all copies dive down at once in a wing attack, energy visible as it cascades off the flying type's body.

[attr="class","sorry"]it only took one hit to send the gastly packing, which was expected. it didn't feel as good as he hoped it good. the girl quickly sent out another pokemon and that was when he wondered if she was going to be using her whole underleveled team. he shook his head his pokemon took another round of beating.
"poison jab the bird," he ordered. and with that the trevenant jolted forward, attempting to deliver a poisonous jab to the flying bird. the milotic remained asleep, but he had a feeling that would change quite soon.
but for now the bigger issue at hand was that he was basically going to abuse six pokemon. hearing the girl call him a criminal and a murderer really ticked him off. he hated violence and yet here he was, being violent. the contradiction pissed him off.
"no i'm actually galactic but that's close enough right?" he asked.
milotic - 23 - 70% fast asleep!
trevenant - 26 - 85% used poison jab on staravia LENA RUDDY
Staravia falls faster than she expected- in her battle on 203, he had at least been able to dodge a move. Staravia may have been faster had he been as high leveled, but his inexperience was the 'death' of him. Lena purses her lips, embarrassed now, but refuses to run away like a puppy with its tail between her legs. She started this, she's committed to following through. Her regret shows on her face as she releases her stunky. "Poison gas." It's a weaker command than any given previously, and her eyes are glued to her shoes. "Keep going, Toad"-- as long as the milotic was asleep they might as well take advantage-- Lena wasn't going to let the possibility of fainting such a higher-leveled pokemon pass her. Poison gas filled the air- she was used to its stinging, pungent odor by now. With a clear of her throat and a quick swipe of her sleeve to wipe the tears from the gas out of her eyes, she's at a loss for command.
Instead, she waits-- waits for this to be over, where she can either run for her life or apologize profusely.
Wait, Galactic? Wasn't that a big deal, or something? Sure, they had been on the news (and of course every station had their own opinion), but Lena has never experienced anything like that in person. Her curiosity gets the best of her, and the bite from her rasping voice disappears. "So do you.. steal stuff? Or something? Or you guys just... go watch space a lot? I-, I don't understand.."
bulbasaur - 13 - 100% used vine whip [on milotic]!
I ALWAYS WANTED TO ASK IF YOU UNDERSTOOD JUST A LITTLE OF MY FEELINGS ALTHOUGH I NEVER TOLD YOU.
[attr="class","sorry"]and then another fell. again it only took one hit from the trevenant to faint it. the milotic being asleep is proving to be a problem. vine whip after vine whip the milotic was still fast asleep, taking the damage from the bulbasaur.
the poison gas from the skunk stunk up the place. liam brought up his hands to cover his mouth, coughing slightly as he tried to breathe. disgusting.
eventually the air cleared and he was ready to give his pokemon orders. good thing for him the milotic being asleep meant that her defense would increase due to her marvel scale ability, and she was constantly being healed up by her aqua ring, so her fainting wasn't going to be a problem. the trevenant being poisoned however, might.
"poison jab the bulbasaur," he ordered. and off the trevenant went, attempting to deliver a jab to the small grass pokemon. milotic was still asleep.
"we mostly get assigned shitty-ass missions like delivering a package," he said, shaking his head as he thought about the mission he was assigned. that was when he realized that he could get someone else to do it; possibly the girl in front of him.
"hey, if you lose you have to deliver a package for me. deal?" he asked.
milotic - 23 - 60% fast asleep!
trevenant - 26 - 85% used poison jab on bulbasaur LENA RUDDY
Speed, again, was working against her. "Dodge!" she tries to advise the bulbasaur, but by the time his vines retract the tree is already on him. Another one down-- Lena recalls the poor grass type, releasing her croagunk in its place. Marill is her only one that hasn't been on the field, but... would it be worth it? Maybe. She'll consider that soon enough. "Pumpkin, focus your energy into a fury swipes on that milotic," hopefully some form of strategy would work here, but the outcome of this battle was already very apparent. Her head is already clearing, but the pulse of the headache remains. Lena needs a nap. The stunky jumps into action while Lena turns her attention to the haunted tree thing. "Okay Hazard, first battle, no big deal, just go hit that thing with an astonish." She almost forgets that she was talking to the stranger. As croagunk hops away she finally opens her ears, looking back at him with confusion.
"Then what's the point? Does it pay?" She could always use a job... and if all they did was innocently delivered packages, well, she's take the mark on her name for that. "Wh- Wait, but, you're--"going to win. It was so painfully obvious, but she refused to say it out loud. She would never admit to continuing a battle that she full well understood she was going to lose in. "To where? What is it? N-Not to imply that you're going to win, but I what is it?"

[attr="class","sorry"]the girl only had three pokemon left, one still in a pokeball. he wondered if this was all a trick, if she had five weak pokemon and one really strong one, to mess with people. he decided that even though it was unlikely, he would be okay with losing a battle like that.
the barrage of fury swipes seemed to have woken the milotic up, who quickly shot out a stream of hot water as a reaction. the trevenant moved in for another attack but was stopped by the astonish. liam shook his head, getting a bit frustrated at how long this battle was taking.
"it pays well," he lied. it pays shit, but the girl didn't have to know that. he looked at her with curiosity, wondering how much he could get out of the girl. probably not much, seeing as this battle was pretty much done.
"just a sealed box from oreburgh to eterna," he said. getting from oreburgh to eterna was much easier said than done unless you had a bike. he wondered if the girl knew just how tiring the journey would be. he decided to give her another option.
"either that or you could clean my apartment," he laughed.
Pumpkin is taken by surprise as much as the milotic is, shrieking as the thing (much bigger than it) jolts to life. She tries scurrying away, but the scald stops her in her tracks, and she faints. Lena is barely phased by the destruction of her pokemon at this point-- she isn't sure if she should be worried about how numb she's become to it. Stunky is recalled, and Marill is released without a second thought. "Oh, how much do you make per pay period?" she inquires, genuinely curious. Her attention shifts to her pokemon for a second- "Rollout and astonish, both on the Milotic," and shifts back to Liam.
"But what's in the box?" she pushes further, perking up at the mention of Eterna. "I live there, I have to go back eventually..." But so soon? She didn't really want to. "How big is it? Is it heavy? Do I get your pay for doing it?"
So many questions, so little time. Both of her pokemon would be taken out with one hit soon enough. A small smile on her lips is a drastic change from her earlier outburst, "only if you pay me to do both." Was she desperate for money? Absolutely. TMs didn't come cheap, and she needed all the help she could get with potions and pokeballs for the future.
