Sharp at three, or at least that's what he was aiming for. Alas, his forgetful nature had him reach the designated coffee shop at around three-ten. Still, it fitted the timeslot of 'three-ish' and besides it seemed his date wasn't here yet. Landing a nice little table with plush seats Adrien would take a second glance at the place.
It was a neat little independent joint, the ambiance very soothing and with not much of a crowd present. Dressed less formally, he'd don a casual blazer with jeans this time, the ascot absent altogether. With time to spare until Isabelle got here, the man would whip out his smartphone and begin typing in a brief memo and report of his scout around Hearthome.
She should be here soon, that is, if she wasn't planning on standing him up.

Isabelle was in her element, exuding both grace, confidence and a cool and distant vibe as she walked. It was this manner that sort of overshadowed, or maybe enhanced, her slightly messy brunette hair and blue eyes twinkling with mischief. She has her hair pulled into a bun and what she considered casual pearl tops adorning her ears, with a slightly collarpopped button up and a highwaist skirt to match. She had no issues with confidence, and this was a first date among thousands of others.
She pulled open the doors to the coffee shop at about three fifteen- the perfect time that well encompassed threeish. She nodded over at Adrien, the door's little bell likely enough to draw his attention away from his phone and to her instead. She walked over to the seat, her previous perfume now a little more noticeable but still perfectly subtle. It was something like...experience, for lack of better word.
She smiled at him honestly. "Adrien, wasn't it?" She looked him over, the switch to jeans and a blazer and his ditching of the ascot not really hindering the fact that he was good to look at, and she scanned the room. It was pleasantly empty like always, with nice smells of coffee and sweets drifting through the air.
"So, you like Hearthome?" She sat comfortably, her back as usual straight and easily so. "Speaking of which, you never told me why you came here. Another one of those tourists?" It was hard to discern why, but there was something derogatory in that question.

When the shopkeeper-bell chimed the silverette would glance over to the source and couldn't help but fix his gaze on the patron as she made a rather glamorous entry. Dressed for the occasion in what Adrien could only describe as 'wow', the man would give a small nod back as she made her way to the table. With a click of a button, the phone's screen blacked out and was then stored away in his pocket.
"Right. Good to see you again, Isabelle." He'd acknowledge her name and presence as she took a seat. "It's a nice place. Lots of attractions." He'd keep it brisk and was about to ask a question of his own when she followed. A smirk appeared on his lips.
"No, you could call it a bussiness trip. " A pause as he waved over a waiter, before refocusing on the woman. "I'm from the region - Celestic Town to be precise. My family runs a few different bussinesses there and we're planning on expanding so... here I am." He'd explain, most of it true except of course the bit about expanding. That was a cover up and a good one at that.
"Hah. Tourists can be a pain sometimes, yeah. They come to Celestic for the ruins and end up scrawling their names and damaging everything they can get their hands on." Picking up on (what he believed to be) her dislike for tourists; one that he shared, the silverette's condescension mimicked Isabelle's own.
"Oh, what would you like?" He'd ask as he scanned through the menu handed to him, taking a moment to order before returning to the conversation at hand.

"Hoo?" She'd ask, eyes lighting up excitedly at his mention of Celestic Town. It's one of the few places she's never been before, and one she's pretty excited to go, what with all the rumors. Then again, it strikes her that she;s going to be disappointed again, because she's never been the one to like quiet towns, and although myths are interesting it's not something she'd fawn over.
"Well Hearthome's a good bet as any if you're looking to expand--" and then she catches herself, because it strikes her oddly as something she might say if she were the heir to the whole family business. "--but more importantly, the heir to a business? What's next then, a tennis match?" She smirked happily, glad to be taking a break.
"Oh, god." She made a face. "Sounds just like them." She chuckled. "How ungrateful, honestly--" she seemed ready to say some more, but then the waitress walked over, and she interrupted herself with a: "Caramel Machhiato with Syrup. Thanks." Her eyes drifted back to Adrien, mischievous and almost asking him "What" incase he questioned her. But she doubted he would.
"Tourists around here just gawk at every performance in the contest hall, and buy things. They all seem to have a taste for the hideous, though. I can't say why." Hearthome was "home" to all sorts of "cultures" and "variety" -- unfortunately when completely ignorant people where let lose in such a world, the only thing that could ensue was face-palming.

"Uh, heh... " He'd chuckle and shake his head. " I don't think my family would appoint me heir just yet." There were plenty of reasons behind that self-critical remark, a notable one being his pride and ego which often clouded his judgment and lost quite a few good deals for the family in the past. Plus that mouth of his didn't bode well in the traditional household of the Arkwrights. "But I'll get there...someday" He'd shrug, now eying the menu.
'... ' His brows momentarily knitted together as he blankly scanned the menu, cocking an eyebrow and looking up at his date when she ordered. It had just occured to him that he was on a date in a coffee shop; key word here being 'coffee'. He was more of tea person himself. And so the man didn't have a penchant for coffee, only to indulge in a drink or two when he had to pull an all-nighter. '... Problem.'
"I'll just have a cappuccino. " He'd quitely order, what he assumed to be, the least bitter drink as he handed the menu back. '...with maybe a few dozen sugar satchels.' Although he wisely chose to keep that bit to himself.
"Ancient." Adrien would summarize it all in just a word, the tone rather distant and then would gradually soften as he carrried on. "It's small, old and traditional. Pokémon just prance all about the place like they own it. And they do, actually." He'd recede back in his chair, the recollection of his town putting a genuine smile on his face. "It's definitely not as bustling as Hearthome. But it's a good place as any if you want to 'get away from it all.' A mandatory finger quote as he ended.
"Let me know if you want to visit sometime. I'll make time for you." An offer if she ever wished to accept.
"But that's enough about me. All I ever got was your name, beautiful." He'd fold his arms as he slightly tilted his head. "What is it that you do anyway?"

"Oh?" She asked, a tiny hint of concern showing as the boy went on to speak. "Well, welcome to the not so selected batch of potential heirs. It's a good life." She smiles, because she thinks she relates to him a little now. Rich competition is the worst competition, in which you stake your pride and your name, and not everything that is yours but everything that could potential be yours. It kills, sometimes.
She smirks. "Why do I get the feeling this is your first time on a coffee date?" Something about what he ordered and how quietly he said it had her thinking, but then again Isabelle couldn't judge. She loved a cappucino from time to time. The next word he says immediately brings her to the children's books version of Celestic Town: old, dusty and yet homely and full of magical wonders. The silverette reclines and smiles broadly, and Isabelle feels a small smile crawling up her own lips as well, because that kind of genuine happiness is catchy.
"Really? You'll have to show me around then." She winks, but then the conversation is dropped by an almost expert move to turn the table onto her. She sips her drink, basking in the compliment with a small smile and eyes flirtatiously lingering before being subtly cast away. "Oh, that. Well, you probably wouldn't believe me. I'm a Ranger." She takes another sip and snickers at her own statement. "I know right, a Hearthome native like me." She shakes her head theatrically, dramatizing the strange occurrence.

While he didn't ask or react just yet, the silverette did take note of her statement about 'heirs'. If anything, it only fueled his curiosity as to who she was. At this point Adrien was considering even having accidentally stumbled upon a small-time celebrity of sorts.
"Heh... What it that obvious?" With a small cough into his balled palm, the silverette would mumble in jest as he let her comment pass. "Tea Rooms are more of my thing. " He brushed over it nonchalantly. He had only spared coffee shops a visit or two for a casual meeting with a client or friend, that too at joints which had an option for tea. This one unfortunately, didn't.
He'd take a small sip from his cappuccino, sucking up his distaste for the bitter aftermath and refrained from making a face. And then the big reveal. "O-Oh.." Blank eyes gazed up from his cup at her face, the reveal far more shocking than she intended it to be.
"A ranger... Huh. I would've never guessed that." There was adequate surprise in his voice. And he really wouldn't have. Rangers weren't usually so posh, prim and proper. Especially not to this extent. Having already risked giving out his real name, Adrien had to thread a bit carefully now. Although even so, he was far too comfortable now to just end the date.
He liked her. He couldn't deny that.
"So wait, you come from a family of rangers or something? I mean, heir and all." He'd continue a bit impatiently, his cappuccino ignored. He was genuinely curious.

She scoffs, but she's smiling still. She can't deny it, this guy is definitely cute. Tea rooms were nice, she admits, and she likes the smell of tea as she does that of coffee, but walking into one on her own accord would simply be out of character. His gaze suddenly turns vacant, and he looks genuinely shocked. Well she'd expected that, but something about the reaction was off. She'd at least expected a little laugh or something.
She shakes her head and moves her straw, a little unused to discussing her profession. And yet even with that topic in mind, she can't really help but be frank and honest with herself. It's one of her few redeeming qualities. "Honestly I think I said I'd join ranger school to spite the whole family back in the rebel days," she confides. She's not sure what had clicked in her mind at the time, but she was certain Carter had some play in it. She was unwilling to talk about that brother of hers, though.
She sips of her coffee, a little mellow, but as she does her smile widens. She then says, jokingly, "I'm surprised they haven't cut me off yet." She shrugs. "I don't know. It's not bad I guess. Uniforms are cute, you know." She smiles. "It's actually my first time back in Hearthome since leaving. The reception wasn't as bad as I'd braced myself for." She doesn't know why she's telling this man this, but a date is a good place to talk, she thinks. She's usually not the one doing the talking, but it's nice this way as well.
She puts her macchiato down, the drink at its halfway mark, and sighs as her smile slowly but surely dissipates. And puts her elbows on the table and rests her chin, looking straight on at Adrien, her eyes relaxed.
"And you? Are you just carrying on the family business, or is there something you'd like to do? Beyond that, I mean..."

"Wow..." A lowkey chortle injected into his sentence as he let her speak. The brunette was far more interesting than initially expected, her 'rebellious phase' planting a smirk on his visage. If becoming a ranger wasn't a decision of passion then mayhaps this date could work well without worry. Maybe she wasn't some righteous hypocrite of a ranger that believed Galactic were terrorists. Or perhaps the waters could use some testing...
And the conversation turned back to him. "Mmm... To be frank, my dreams got kneecapped a long time ago." He'd laugh it off, but it was the truth nevertheless. "My responsibilities in my family bussiness were pretty lax -- I was given an opportunity to get out of it." Eyes shifted downwards to his drink. When you had an enormous brood of cousins and uncles, it was affordable to let one or two go. "I wanted to be an archeologists at first. My grandfather unfortunately perceived 'digging rocks' as a pretty stupid idea." He'd shrug his shoulders as he finally took another sip of his drink.
"So! I decided to become a pokemon ranger. Help pokemon and whatnot. It's true," He let that sink before continuing, his smile turning more apologetic now. That was a dream that never made it through. "And again, things happened and I could never get my ranger license. Only option left besides bussiness? Becoming a trainer. Was a good life until finally left it to... " His voice trailed off as he mischievously eyed the woman.
"To join an entity that wished to destroy the world and rebuild it on more traditional values. A world without corruption or distress, " Spoken with a matter-of-fact tone, Adrien eyed the woman carefully as he basically spelled out team Galactic's agenda to her. Would she take it as a joke, or was she about to react? He'd allow a lengthy pause to pass as he prepared himself to study her response. And then, he reclined gleefully.
i'm a queen and you're a king and we will stumble through heaven
isabelle offered adiren a small smile after telling her story, as ridiculous as it was. she was glad he didn't mind that she wasn't some sort of crusader for justice. isabelle did care about people getting punished for wrongs and things, but the law had been something she'd stretched once or twice, and rebellion was in her nature. she liked pokemon, but she wasn't going to jump infront of a habitat from tympole and shout arcues is watching you! there was a thin line, but she walked it.
with her drink finished, she'd put her elbows on the table and tilt her chin a little, displaying a genuine interest towards someone for the first time in years. a smirk crawled up her face as the story began. "i can imagine," she thought, thinking back to when she'd shouted that she'd wanted to be a professional ice skater. she shook her head a little, reminiscently, her blue eyes trying to lock on to his.
and the the dry humored yet sober mood disappeared with what he said next, and isabelle was visible shocked in an amused, semi-condescending sort of way, with a frown and raised eyebrows. "you didn't even strike me as the type--- thought so," she shook her head, almost relieved that she wasn't dealing with another ranger, her eyes turning to the table and the unfortunately empty cup in top of it.
but then the story continued, and her blue eyes narrowed, ever so slightly until she looked positively suspicious as she turned up, looking into adrien's eyes again. finally, he ended the suspense and isabelle sighed in relief.
"thank god, i almost thought you were going to be like the other one and admit to it in broad daylight." she scrunched her nose, neither admitting to thinking adrien was a galactic, nor denying the suspicions he himself aroused. after a few seconds she'd mumble, "that was an odd way to kill the mood." she'd then smile.
