Seth had never really liked the gyms. He enjoyed that the gym leaders beat down on all those weaklings and that they were distributed in terms of power, but he disliked how those gym leaders were always the happy, perky, "yes, we are here to make you stronger!" kinds of people. So he'd avoided gyms. He had never really thought to battle one until now.[break][break]
His hands in his pockets, Seth tched as he entered through the gym doors. Inside was cool, and he turned up his collar at the draft that permeated through the room. At the other end of the spacious room stood...a boy.[break][break]
And as he quickly introduced himself as the gym leader, Seth's hatred for him grew.[break][break]
Ugh he was one of those bubbly types. He hated those that seemed to be so much happier and so much more fake than others. Absolutely detested them. Releasing his pokemon, he vowed that even despite his nearly all poison-based team, he'd destroy this person. So when the gym leader asked for a good battle, Seth merely grinned and responded, "I'm here to crush you and nothing else."[break][break]
So the gym leader had decided to send out his geodude first, huh? Seth glanced at the ground to his Grimer and gave a fierce smile. "Mag, use Mud Bomb!"[break][break]
Magellan spewed forth clumps of explosive mud, making the Geodude flinch at the pain. Also, Magellan's stench probably helped with that. "Once more," he directed at the stinking pokemon. The geodude groaned with pain before finally sinking to the floor.[break][break]
Seth recalled his own pokemon as the gym leader returned their fainted pokemon. Even though he had a smile on his face, Seth could tell that the gym leader hadn't expected such a turn of events. A poison type beating a rock/ground type? It had a huge disadvantage, and yet the leader hadn't even been able to make the most of it.[break][break]
Seth tossed out another pokeball. "Erebus," he whispered to the pokeball. In a flash of light emerged Seth's newly evolved Haunter. Erebus cast a glare at the Gym leader, who gulped and quickly released his own pokemon.[break][break]
Needless to say, the onix was gigantic. It towered over the both of them and Seth had to crane his neck upwards to see it clearly. A glance back at the gym leader showed that he was back into full confidence mode. Seth narrowed his eyes.[break][break]
"Put it to sleep." The Haunter immediately executed the orders, sending out a lulling pulse that made the onix's eyes close. As soon as it was clear that the onix was unconscious, Seth directed Erebus to use Dream Eater. The Onix thrashed as its dream was devoured. Erebus already had full HP, so he didn't regain any health.[break][break]
Roark decided to bring out a full heal, thus curing the onix of sleep. Seth scoffed - personally, he'd never really liked those items...other than to steal and make a profit off of them. "Dark Pulse," he instructed to the floating Haunter. Erebus obeyed, launching a pulse of darkness at the onix, who countered with Rock Throw. Erebus hissed as the rocks smashed into it, tearing away at its HP. It was clear that Erebus' moveset was not the best to fight the onix, and so Seth called him back.[break][break]
He'd try one of his newly acquired pokemon next. "Toad, come out!" From the pokeball thrown emerged a Shroomish he'd caught just yesterday. The grass-type had been caught for no other purpose than to beat this gym. Or at least, that had been Seth's plan.[break][break]
"Mega Drain," he directed. The shroomish hesitated and Seth glared at the small green pokemon. Hastily, it began draining at the Onix's health. Another supper-effective move. The Onix retaliated with Stealth Rock, scattering sharp stones everywhere. Seth simply used Mega Drain once again, and the Onix fell to the ground in a large, unmoving heap.[break][break]
Roark looked a little worried now. Perhaps he hadn't thought that he might lose? Whatever, it was just too bad for him. Seth recalled the shroomish and sent out another pokemon just as Roark sent out his Cranidos.[break][break]
"Typhon," Seth called to the gyarados. It craned a head to look at him and he grinned at the gyarados savagely. "Hydro Pump."[break][break]
Oh, how Seth loved the look of surprise and anguish on the gym leader's face. Perhaps the leader had thought he'd been cocky to waltz in here and say he'd destroy him. Rather, Seth had every intent on winning, no matter what.[break][break]
The cranidos retaliated with Headbutt twice, and on the second time, Seth growled with frustration as Typhon flinched at the pain. "Weak ass!" he yelled. "Get your butt in gear and destroy it!"[break][break]
The gyarados' next hydro pump missed, and Seth, frustrated, recalled it. "You're no good to me if you can't hit a target," he growled, tossing out another pokemon.[break][break]
"Alastor," he hissed, his attention focused on the Cranidos. "Phantom Force." Within seconds, the Drifblim had vanished into a nothing. Roark glanced from side to side as he directed the Cranidos to use Pursuit, in an attempt to find the pokemon. However, the cranidos couldn't track something unseen. Alastor re-emerged, just one foot away from the Cranidos and attacked from behind. The cranidos roared as it was attacked and turned its head to headbutt the pokemon, but by then, the Drifblim had already retreated back to Seth's position. The Cranidos used Pursuit once more, earning for itself a supper effective attack. Drifblim was knocked back slightly, but it soon returned, floating - albeit a little lower than normal. Seth growled with frustration - he'd hoped the gym would've been easier.[break][break]
"Once more," Seth called. Alastor melted into the shadows and attacked the cranidos once again, sending the pokemon toppling to the floor.[break][break]
Seth wiped the sweat from his forehead as he recalled his pokemon. A tough battle, but he'd already put his mind to succeed at it - at all costs. He tched and looked at the Gym Leader, who attempted a smile. Seth grinned back.[break][break]
"You better cough up them cash moneys you give people when they beat you," He said in a sickly sweet voice.[break][break]
End Gym
