However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.

It hadn't been very long since she'd joined Galactic's ranks. Which, unfortunately, meant that she had done little to nothing as a recruit. So, she figured she should be training her partners, so when the chance came she could do what she needed to do. She wasn't sure what though.
What better way to do it than where she was born and raised, right? Sunyshore had been her home for as long as she could remember, and taking a night out on the beach seemed like an appropriate option. No one was usually hanging out when the temperature dropped and the sun was falling into the water, which meant it was the perfect time for her to get some alone time.
Scarlette had let Romeo out of his pokeball a while ago, and he was making lazy circles over the water, watching his reflection and squawking every once in a while just to remind his trainer how bored he was. The young Murkrow was ready for any kind of action, and frankly, so was Scarlette. She'd had enough sitting around.

Romeo's lazy squawks quickly became more animated and exciting, alerting Scarlette of something new. Just a few meters up the beach, closer to the trees than to the water, her Murkrow had spotted a Cacnea. Now, why on earth a cactus Pokemon was wandering near water was beyond her, but she figured that it wasn't totally unusual. She had just expected more water-type Pokemon.
"Go ahead, Romeo. Let's show him why you shouldn't be out at night." Scarlette encouraged, ushering Romeo to confront the wild Pokemon. "Start off with mean look, so he can't escape." she ordered.
Swooping low over the Cacnea, Romeo's eyes glowed red with ferocity, a dark shadow looking over the Pokemon. It was then that Cacnea realized he was under attack, and likely in danger. He turned around on the spot, quite frightened. In his shock, the Pokemon released several poisonous stingers into the air, one or two of them hooking into Romeo's tail feathers as he dove out of the way, shocked at how quickly his opponent retaliated.
"You okay, Romeo? Stay more focused, you've startled him. Now it's time to finish him!" she instructed. The Murkrow had pulled the stingers from his feather, wincing a little as they pulled at his feathers. Thankfully, they'd only grazed him, but he felt a little funny though. Circling lazily over the small cactus, the Murkrow noticed as it's green body glowed in preparation. It was using growth to try and grow a little stronger.
Romeo plummeted from the sky, his wings glowing with added power as he struck at the Cacnea, using wing attack to try and buffet and confuse his opponent. It seemed to be working, as the Cacnea was losing it' footing and stumbling backwards. In response, mostly out of fear of it's own life, the Cacnea swung its arms out in a needle arm. Romeo, ready for something like this, braced himself with his wings. He had spread the feathers, and most of the Cacnea's spikes slipped in between, but some of them made it through to puncture his skin, and he hopped backwards in the sand, shaking off some of the pain.
"This is it, Romeo. One more hit and he should be done." Scarlette hoped, standing out of the way of the flying needles. The Cacnea seemed to be losing energy and slowing down. Romeo still appeared full of energy, although acting perhaps a little sick. Had he maybe been poisoned? "Use feint attack!"
At her command, Romeo got in close to the Cacnea, before punching him in the stomach with his talons. However, as a last ditch effort, the Cacnea had attempted to suck some life out of the bird by using absorb. Romeo felt little popping bubbles touch his skin, draining a little bit of energy. Fortunately, it wasn't enough to keep the wild Pokemon awake for another round, and it fell to the ground, unconscious. Murkrow flapped his wings confidently, returning to land on Scarlette's shoulder.
"What do you think? He worth joining our team?" she asked. The vigorous shaking of his head suggested Romeo was not for keeping the Cacnea around.

With the Cacnea unconscious and no longer a threat, Romeo had already returned to Scarlette to sit on her shoulder and preen his feathers. Whatever may have been left from his attackers poison sting he was still attempting to pull out, and the pair continued to walk along the beach. Scarlette had drawn nearer to the water, letting her bare feet sink into the cooling sand. Despite the cold, she felt comfortable and exhilarated from the previous battle. Romeo seemed to have become quiet and a little distant, which concerned Scarlette.
Of course, once the Murkrow spotted another opponent, he began to puff out his feathers and make himself appear more intimidating. Scarlette, in an attempt to settle him and prevent him from pulling her hair out with his wings, quickly brought his attention back to herself.
"You're gonna sit this one out, bud. I think your last battle wore you out a little more than you thought. I'll let Juliet handle this one, okay?" she suggested, a little concerned for Romeo's health. She quickly returned him to his pokeball, and replaced him with a bright blue Ducklett instead. She preened her feathers very delicately, seeming uninterested and oblivious to what was going on.
"Juliet, we're doing some light training tonight. How about we challenge the Geodude over there? I'm sure you're more than capable of handling it." Scarlette suggested, pointing at the rock Pokemon that was currently minding its own business, picking shells up off the beach. Scarlette was probably about to ruin it's evening. What a pity.
Unfortunately, Juliet seemed quite put off by the thought of battling, as she had just finished grooming herself to perfection. It was such a romantic night, she would have much preferred to be sitting under the stars with Romeo and eating stolen pokepuffs or something. "It's not a suggestion, you and Romeo both need some battling experience. If we want to get good at being bad, we've gotta start being good at kicking people's ass. Let's startle it and get it mad. We have a bigger challenge with this one I think."
The Ducklett made a couple of griping quacking noises, puffing out her chest and flaring up her tail feathers at her trainer, but grudgingly seemed to be listening. "Wake it up with a water pulse!" Scarlette commanded. Juliet's beak opened as she charged across the sand, flying somewhat clumsily a little to gain some speed. A large watery ring burst from her beak and exploded against the Geodude's bumpy skin, and he turned on the spot, shooting out mud sports in his astonishment. Juliet, outraged that she was now covered in mud and sand, felt no other effects of the attack, but was still pissed off none-the-less.
Unfortunately, with her being distracted, it left her wide open for the Geodude to also retaliate quickly with a tackle that sent the bird hurtling across the sand and into the water with an impressive splash. Scarlette's eyebrows shot up in surprise. She had hoped for a challenge, not a complete embarrassment. "Juliet, stop fussing and focus! Now is not the time to be worried about how pretty you are. Retaliate quickly with featherdance, followed by aerial ace!" she commanded impatiently.
In response, the redhead was given a couple of just as angry squawks and squeaks back as the Ducklett clambered out of the ocean, shook herself down, and quickly began to dance. Some feathers were shaken loose in the act, much to her dismay, likely jostled by the tackle she had endured. In a flash, Juliet sped forward, slamming the Geodude with her aerial ace, knocking her opponent back slightly. But, unfortunately, it seemed to have very little affect on the Pokemon, and he just seemed to be more angry than before. Juliet seemed to wilt at this reaction.
"Don't stand there! Aerial ace again!" Scarlette ordered, frustrated at the sudden cowardice of her Pokemon. The Ducklett did not, however, move out of the way as the Geodude began to retaliate. It had used defense curl, his arms flexing angrily as he boosted his defenses. However, the Pokemon soon curled into a ball, hurtling like a canon towards Juliet in a rollout, which flattened her into the sand.
Spitting up and wheezing from the incredible impact, she was visibly embarrassed and quickly losing her motivation. It seemed clear who, out of the two birds Scarlette had, was the better fighter.
Scarlette seemed to be just as concerned by this realization. The Geodude had come to a stop several feet from Juliet. "Don't give him the chance to hit you again! Use aerial ace a second time and dodge!" she explained, sounding a little bit desperate. Juliet shook herself into action again, but stumbled in the midst of her dodge. The two collided brutally, her aerial ace meeting his even stronger rollout. Juliet was thrown across the sand again, this time looking like she was on her last legs.
"Water pulse!" Scarlette called, praying that her Pokemon was faster than the Geodude. Juliet's beak opened again, another burst of water leaving her mouth as the watery ring shot forwards. It stopped the Geodude in its tracks, and apparently, knocked it out cold. Exasperated, Scarlette ran across the sand quickly to retrieve Juliet, who had settled into the sand to take a moment and breathe. Carrying her in her arms, Scarlette approached the Geodude with a pokeball, tapping it against the unconscious Pokemon in the attempt to capture it. "Definitely worth a shot on the team. Or else Galactic can have it. On the other hand, you get to rest for sure. We've gotta work on reflexes I see.." she said, smoothing her Ducklett's ruffled feathers down.

Geodude's collapsed body was quickly absorbed in the red beam. As the poke ball closed and clicked, it rocked once, twice, three times before the sounding ding announced he had been successfully captured. Breathing a sigh of relief, Scarlette smoothed the feathers of her Ducklett soothingly while she tucked the Geodude's ball away. Juliet appeared to be resting, her blue feathers washed in a soft light that was warm to the touch. It appeared to Scarlette that she was roosting to regain some of her strength. She seemed quiet and calm though, snuggling close to Scarlette's chest for warmth. The last battle had even exhausted Scarlette, the adrenaline now leaving her ready for bed. Unfortunately, the night wasn't over yet it seemed.
Just ahead, building sandcastles under the moon, was a small and young Sandshrew. "How do you feel about one more battle before bed?" she asked. Juliet seemed quiet upset about this, puffing up her feathers and making loud, angry noises in response. Scarlette ignored her, setting the Ducklett down on the sand. Juliet continued to make a fuss, however her roost had clearly been the difference in how she appeared. One more battle would do her good.
The Sandshrew had just planted a stick at the top of its sandcastle tower when Scarlette finally convinced Juliet to attack. The Ducklett quickly charged forwards with aerial ace, demolishing the sand creation and the wild Pokemon. It tumbled through the sand, and soon began to cry. In its hand was the flag it had used for the tower, broken in half and limp. After a moment, the Sandshrew seemed to have pulled itself together enough to retaliate. Small golden stars twinkled, distracting Juliet and stunning her. Scarlette thought carefully about what type of Pokemon her Ducklett was up against, and the possibility of type advantage. "Juliet, use water pulse, it should weak to water type attacks." she suggested. Juliet quickly sent out another of her watery rings, watching as it exploded in the small Pokemons face.
Except there seemed to be a very different and unexpected reaction from the Sandshrew. It stumbled back and forth like it had lost its sense of balance, and generally seemed stunned and confused. Juliet quacker to try and redirect its attention back to her, but her opponent didn't seem to understand. Scarlette quickly realised her Pokemons attack had confused the poor thing. The Sandshrews claws came out and it began to scratch at its face, apparently using fury swipes. Scarlette, somewhat amused by this, encouraged Juliet forward. "Finish it off, this is embarrassing for us and for the Pokemon."
Once again, another water pulse burst against the Sandshrews scaly yellow skin, and the mouse Pokémon cried out and fell into the sand, still appearing dazed and now in even more pain than before. Scarlette approached it, kneeling down and touching it with another Pokeball she had in her bag. As it closed and dinged with success, she turned back to Juliet, who was preening sand from her feathers and looking irritated. "I think it's time we head back, it's getting cold."
