mistaking smoke for heaven's light ❝ Now boasting two newly captured Pokemon, also including his first which was a Pawniard named Bishop, Abel found himself in Eterna Forest. There was a thick canopy of leaves above his head, letting in only the thinnest rays of sunlight thus cloaking the woods in a dark, but comfortable blanket of shadows. The air was sharp and thin, bothering the Rocket's nose until he let out a sneeze which echoed off of the trees and into nothingness. Abel grimaced, wrapping his arms around himself and slowly sliding his hands up and down his arms in effort to increase his own temperature even just slightly. The only thing that could make the situation worse was if it began to rain but because of the thick cover of green overhead it was nearly impossible to tell if there were any clouds rolling above.

mistaking smoke for heaven's light ❝ From above there came a noise, a disturbance among the leafy trees. Abel looked up in time to catch a flash of orange contrasting against it's surrounding. Knowing it to be nothing other than a Pokemon, he began the chase. "Come out, Bishop!" He called, taking out the Pawniard's Pokeball and sending out the steel and dark type while still sprinting. The Pokemon caught on quickly, running beside the Rocket and then looked upwards as Abel pointed. At this point it was visible that the wild Pokemon was a Pansear. It glanced behind it for a moment, giving the two a cheeky grin as it hopped from branch to branch. It clearly had the advantage of habitat here but Abel was far from willing to let it go. "You've got to get it down from there," He said to the Pawniard at his side who gave an affirming grunt in response. It halted suddenly and began to scale one of the trees, it's blades able to easily give it footing into the trunk. Now up in the branches, it continued to pursue the Pansear while Abel followed on the ground. Once close enough, the Pawniard pushed itself forward in a lung, striking the fire type in the back and it let out a startled yelp before tumbling out of the trees and onto the ground. "Good work," Abel praised, stopping in front of the wild Pokemon as Pawniard hopped down. As the monkey picked itself up, Abel quickly ordered, "Use swords dance and then attack again." The Pawniard gave a sharp nod and shifted it's weight, a glowing aura enveloping it's sharp arms before rushing towards the Pansear. The fire type growled and then opened it's maw, shooting a hot ball of fire towards the other Pokemon who was now too close to dodge. The Pawniard took the hit hard, flames licking at it's metal frame with intensity. The steel type, mid-attack, stumbled and managed to graze the Pansear with one of it's blades before falling to one knee. Wasting not a second, Abel grabbed a Pokeball in his hand and tossed it, hitting the fire type square in the forehead and drawing it into the capsule.

mistaking smoke for heaven's light ❝ Now with four Pokemon, Abel would only need two more to have a complete team of six. By the time he made it out of the forest that goal might be accomplished as he had two remaining empty Pokeballs left. The Rocket fished out a potion to heal up his Pawniard who had been considerably weakened by the Pansear's fire attack. The spray reinvigorated the steel and dark type and the two continued on their way. It was only a few minutes into the activity of stepping through unkempt grass and littered when Abel's foot suddenly bumped into something. Losing his balance, the man went tumbling forward, getting a face full of earthy tasting dirt. He spat, trying to get the bad taste out of his mouth and pushed himself up with his hands. Quickly thanking Arceus that no one was around to witness the embarrassing situation, he turned to see what had been the thing to trip him. A sandy coloured Hippopotas let out a lethargic yawn and shook it's body, dislodging a few more leaves that had fallen on top of it during it's nap. Abel sneered but it was a good opportunity, the Pokemon still hazy with sleep as it slowly began to try and figure out what had disturbed it's slumbering. The Pawniard looked to it's trainer for a command but Abel had already grabbed a Pokeball and tossed it at the ground Pokemon. The sphere let out a whirr as it thumped against the Hippopotas' side before opening up and taking it inside through a short burst of light.
