Akita continues walking through the forest. The trees were beginning to thin out as she moved forward. Looking around at her surroundings, she noticed a yellow figure emerge from a nearby tree.
Is that a Pokemon?! She asked herself starting to get excited. Although it was a rather nice day, Akita had no luck finding Pokemon so far. However, this might just be her first wild encounter.
The new trainer slowly approached the figure, her heart racing in anticipation as she made out what it was. "A Psyduck!" she exclaimed. Instantly she threw her hand over her mouth fearing for a second she might have scared it off. However, the yellow Pokemon didn't seem bothered. Akita gasped in belief.
What a rookie mistake she thought taking out Circuit's Pokeball.
But I'm not going to mess this up! "Go Circuit!" she yelled with enthusiasm.
The blue and black Pokemon popped out of it's Pokeball full of energy. "Okay Circuit! This is our first battle! Lend you me your spirit!" The Shinx let out a cry of excitement. "Alright Circuit! Let's start out with spark!"
Circuit ran towards the Psyduck, blue lightning flashing around it. The Psyduck, while it's expresion remained the same, was caught off guard and flew back land on the ground behind it. "Direct hit!" Akita exclaimed but her facial expression quickly turned suprised as the psyduck stood back up.
But Circuit's move was really strong against a water type like Psyduck. I thought for sure it wouldn't have gotten up so-- Her thoughts were cut off as she saw the Psyduck release a water gun attack. Before Akita could say anything, the move hit Circuit. "Ahh!" she cried starting to lose her cool. "I'm so sorry Circuit. I just thought--" The shinx looked back for a moment and turned back towards its opponent. "Right! Get in close and use bite!"
The shinx started running towards the Psyduck again but was stopped in his tracks. The blue and black pokemon was glowing and couldn't move.
What the-- Akita thought. Then she remembered seeing this move before. In trainer school, they got to use the school's Pokemon for practicing battles. She liked to watch the other kids battle and see what other people tried to do with their Pokemon for the day. That day, someone had a Meditite and it lifted another kids Growlithe in the air only to slam it down. "That's Psychic!" she yelled as Circuit was lifted up into the air only to be smashed on the surface moments later.
"Circuit! Are you okay?" Akita was worried. This was not going at all how she planned or wanted. The blue pokemon got up slower than last time, but still was able to stand. His breath was becoming a little irregular but he still seemed ready to fight. "If you're good, then how about we change things up. Use leer!" the shinx's eyes started to glow red a seemly holographic pair of red eyes rapidly moved towards the the Psyduck. It hit, lowering its defense. "Use spark while it's caught off guard!" The shinx obeyed and lightning formed around it once again. With great speed, the shinx hit the Psyduck as it attempted jumping out of the way. It wasn't a direct hit, but the damage from the electric type attack should make up for it.
Psyduck landed on its feet, although wobbled a bit. It started to open getting ready to unleash a screech attack when it's body became engulfed in electricity. For a moment, Akita was confused, but then remembered that occasionally, spark can cause paralysis.
Talk about beginners luck she thought pulling out a Pokeball.
You better not miss this she told herself as she released the red and white object from her hand. It spun in a blur of red and hit the Psyduck on the side of it's body, close to its fin. "I hit it!"
but barely. Now came the moment of truth as the ball shook wildly.
