he's back in it—the struggle, the grind to reach where he once was both as a trainer and as rocket. his activity over the past few weeks has slowly decreased—the number of missions done dropping by a significant amount, communication with other rocket limited, if it wasn't for the fact that he had an outstanding reputation for being loyal, or brainwashed, they might have gotten suspicious. but in reality he has been busy with strengthening his team. no matter how much he misses his old team he realizes he can never have them back. so he needs to start fresh. he's gotten a few new additions to his team but the main two standouts are still koma and kojo. both have been by his side since starting new, and even though he would rather not have the fire bird he can't deny its capabilities—it's strong, much alike the braviary he once had. but koma wouldn't be needed today, not for the water gym. today was an opportunity to let the newer additions battle and get to understand them more. with cautious steps he climbs the side of the gym. steep stairs made out of rocks would pave the way, loose branches hanging to provide support. next to him water falls powerfully over great heights, the sound of water impacting echoes the building. he pants as he climbs, he was not expecting such a rough climb that was only made worse by the splashing water. his eyes squint under the particles of water but eventually he makes the final step, using the branch to propel him over onto flat ground. he quickly stands back up and dusts himself off. at the opposite end of the water themed battlefield stands the leader, shirt off, face painted. it wouldn't matter soon enough as both of them call out their first pokemon. croagunk versus gyarados isn't the fairest of match-ups but he knew what he was getting himself into. he kneels down and places a hand on gure's back. "you're smaller and faster, use that to your advantage," he speaks. he then nudges the croagunk forward before standing back up again. gure looks back at the man only to be met with a nod and a smile. he turns back to face his opponent, buffing himself up with a NASTY PLOT as he waits for orders. "good luck!" he calls out to the gym leader who does the same. "poison the fish," he orders. gure moves first, sprinting across the battlefield while gathering up a purple-ish goo in his mouth. he then spits it at the fish, using a VENOSHOCK. he's too far forward, out of position directly in front of the gyarados. "careful!" gure sees the fish moving forward, a BRINE channeling in its mouth. he's quick to move, leaping up forward to deliver a SUCKER PUNCH. it lands perfectly but it would not stop the brine that followed. he gets sent flying back, body hitting the floor as he tumbles and rolls to a halt. he injures his arm on the way down. the croagunk looks back at the rocket for more orders, stance ready for more but eyes told another tale. "confuse it then try another poison attack." gure, still clutching his arm, runs forward again and taunts at the fish. he moves fast, jumping left and right in an attempt to use a SWAGGER to confuse it. it works, and he's about to send out another poison attack before he notices the channeling of a BRINE again. so he changes his plans, throws everything he has at the fish to use a SUCKER PUNCH. he hits it, the fish faints oddly enough, but he does too. the first round ends in a stalemate. the next pair take the stage, deino versus quagsire. it seems like a much fairer match-up but he doesn't underestimate the opponent. "hyper voic--" he's cut off by the deino before he could even finish giving an order. she hops forward and does her own thing, not even bothering to listen to the rocket as a WORK UP buffs her up. a piercing sound of HYPER VOICE would echo through the battlefield. the rocket raises his hands to cover his ears, finding the high pitch to be quite annoying and even slightly painful. quagsire retaliates with a MUD BOMB before running over to SLAM against the irate pokemon. mono dodges the mud bomb with ease but could not hop out of the way in time, taking full damage from the powerful slam attack. she cringes in pain which makes it clear now that she's much weaker. she doesn't give up, instead she sends another HYPER VOICE that pierces the battlefield. it doesn't last long however as a sudden MUD BOMB would take her by surprise, ultimately knocking her out. she's instantly recalled. "sorry." he whispers as he pulls out another pokeball. kojo graces the battlefield with his presence. it doesn't take him long to charge forward even without having to heed orders. he's hopping along the ground, bouncing up and down, left and right as he channels his energy. he delivers one HIGH JUMP KICK that instantly knocks the quagsire out. blow for blow this battle's becoming much closer than it needed to be. the rocket breathes a sigh of relief as the last pokemon gets called out. "again, quick!" kojo gives the floatzel no time to react, leaping forward for another HIGH JUMP KICK that sends it flying back rolling against the floor. he's hopping from rock to rock, easily avoiding the water below. a BRINE shoots straight out of the floatzel's mouth. it hits kojo but he's quick to rotate in the air to land on his feet, making sure he wouldn't fall into the water. he hops forward again, from rock to rock before jumping high up into the air. he rotates ever so slowly, so gracefully before falling back down for a BOUNCE attack. it lands square on and he's quick to follow it up with a DRAIN PUNCH to finish the battle. the floatzel faints. @gym |
