Beginnings of a Viridian City Trainer
Garret Damian had received his starter Pokemon, a Squirtle, from Professor Rowan once he began his Journey. He had another Pokemon, a Doduo, with him which was a gift from his Instructor back in Kanto when he moved to Sinnoh. Since then he had named the Doduo, Roadrunner, because of it's high natural speed. As for the Squirtle, he decided to name it Kappa based on the old folk Legend.
It was there that he would begin his long trek through the region of Sinnoh and begin the Journey he had so wanted. Where will it take him? Who will he meet? What kinds of Pokemon will he find and train? These are some of the questions he asked himself once he officially began his Journey. There is quite a bit to do as he must begin to train his pokemon and capture new ones. His current goal is to take on the Oreburgh City Gym and receive his first gym badge. According to his guide of Sinnoh, the Oreburgh City Gym is primarily Rock-type which is an excellent battleground for Kappa.
"Seems Kappa will be my main Pokemon of choice for the Oreburgh City Gym. Some training would help me devise some strategies and maybe catch some new Pokemon."
He takes a moment to take a look around Twinleaf Town and compares the nature to that of the Viridian Forest. The transition was albeit a bit awkward yet fascinating for Garret as he had never gone anywhere beyond the Viridian Forest. There was definitely variation with the trees and the type of Pokemon the lurk nearby. Back in Kanto, Garret was generally not allowed to go anywhere past the Viridian Forest and into Pewter City. In fact, the Viridian Forest was technically the only area he was allowed to go to beside the heart of Viridian City due to how close he lived near the two locations. As a young boy he took fascination of the area around him, but he was truly curious about the area beyond his own boundaries. What was out there? That was what he wanted to know and now he was able to answer that very question. He began to look around the area with a most curious look about him.

Beginnings of a Viridian City Trainer
As he walked, Garret would lay his eyes on a Caterpie that seemed to be just crawling through the ground. It's expression was very nonchalant and it looked to be enjoying it's time here in the fields. Seeing the Caterpie reminded him of his home back in Kanto where pokemon like Caterpie were common. The Viridian Forest was often the place where Garret explored every single day whenever he had the time, and Caterpie was one of the most seen Pokemon according to recollection. Still... it was just minding it's business and didn't seem to be the type to go on a journey with a trainer. He felt that it wouldn't be great to just take the Caterpie if it's just relaxing and enjoying it's home. What he looks for is a Pokemon that would be willing to go with him and train. So he would decide to ignore the Caterpie and take out his Pokemon out of their Pokeballs. Kappa and Roadrunner would look at him wondering what they were going to do.
"Alright you two this area seems like a good spot to practice your moves. Let's see... Kappa can you try an Iron Defense + Rapid Spin combo at that rock over there?" He would point to a nearby stone that was about as large as Kappa himself. Then he would look to Roadrunner thinking about what he could do. "As for you Roadrunner... try using Agility + Drill Peck at that pine tree." He pointed to a large yet old looking pine tree that stood tall. Meanwhile he would look around for potential Pokemon while at the same time watching his own Pokemon.
Kappa would use Iron Defense and had this steel-like shine to his body and would leap at the rock and went inside it's shell. As it performed it's Rapid Spin attack it would strike at the rock causing a bit of a crack. Roadrunner would use Agility and would use it's Drill Peck attack to form what seems to be a flying Pokemon Drill at the Pine Tree causing a hole at the middle. Garret smiled and would pet the two. "Great job you two. We keep this up and we should be ready for the Oreburgh and the Eterna City Gym respectively."

Beginnings of a Viridian City Trainer
After some training, Garret and his two Pokemon would rest near a small pond of sorts as they relax on the floor. As the three enjoy their time feeling the fresh wind blow past them, their session would be mildly interrupted by a sort of aggressive Tympole. It would spawn from the pond and would unleash it's mud shot attack at Garret to which Kappa would deflect with a water pulse attack.
"Seems that Tympole doesn't take too kindly to us invading it's territory. I suppose a real battle should test your skills. Kappa use Rapid Spin," and the Squirtle would go into it's shell and would attack as it spun towards the Tympole. The enemy Tympole would be knocked back a bit but it would retaliate with a supersonic. Kappa then became confused leaving Garret with a decision of whether or not to switch out to Roadrunner.
"I'd rather not take risks. Roadrunner it's your turn. Use Agility then Drill Peck!" The Doduo would use it's Agility gaining great speed and then appear behind the Tympole using it's Drill Peck from it's two beaks. With the attack connecting, the Tympole took some rather heavy damage and would faint as a result. Garret would give a thumbs up to his two Pokemon for a job well done.
"Excellently done you two. I suppose we should leave the Tympole in it's territory and leave it alone for now. I'm curious to see what other Pokemon live nearby." The three would then go on their way to a different spot to find more Pokemon.

Beginnings of a Viridian City Trainer
Garret continued onwards until he would be met with a Numel. It seems that the Pokemon saw the fight with his Pokemon and the aggressive Tympole. The Numel looks at Garret then to Kappa and Roadrunner as if wanting to fight.
"You want to fight? Very well I'll grant you at least that," Garret says as he would command Kappa to take the stand. "Kappa use Water Pulse." A surge of water formed from Kappa's hands and would be shot out at Numel. As much as Numel tried to use Ember, it would be extinguished by the Water Pulse and the resulting force causes it to be knocked back. Because it was also a water type move, the Numel took quite a bit of damage but it would stand it's ground. Thanks to the Ember and Water Pulse, there would be mist within the area.
"Kappa use Iron Defense then Rapid Spin to clear the mist," Garret said as Kappa did just that. The resulting Rapid Spin would occur trying to fan away the mist, but then the ground shook. It was the Numel's magnitude and it would hit Kappa quite a bit despite using Iron Defense. Garret was quite interested in the Numel so it would order Kappa to return back.
"Kappa come back. Roadrunner it's your turn now," he orders his Pokemon as now his Doduo will fight the Numel. Another Magnitude occurs, but the Doduo would jump quite a bit in the air. With flying types being immune to ground types, Roadrunner would begin it's counter attack.
"Roadrunner use Agility then Drill Peck!" Roadrunner would zip past the Numel and would form it's Drill Peck as it spun around towards the Numel like a spinning bullet. It hit the Numel hard, but the Numel wasn't finished just quite yet. It would use it's Yawn attack as it faced Roadrunner after taking the hit. As it slid back from impact, the Numel used Ember straight at Roadrunner.
Roadrunner would jump high once more, but some of the sparks from Ember hit it's feet and it would come back to the ground making an imperfect landing. Then the Yawn kicked in and Roadrunner would fall under the SLEEP Condition.
"Hmm, Kappa it's time we finished this." Kappa would then come back once more to finish the job. "Use Rapid Spin without moving. Focus on the ground," Kappa would do just that at the same time Numel would use Magnitude. The resulting force of Magnitude combined with Rapid Spin on the ground caused Kappa to be out of it's shell but now there would be dirt flying everywhere.
"Good, now Kappa use Water Pulse towards the ground Numel is at!" A water pulse attack was shot at near Numel and the Numel would dodge the predictable attack, however the ground would then become soft and moist. What was he doing? Garret would order Kappa to keep water pulsing at the ground while the Numel kept on dodging and replying with Magnitude. Eventually the ground became mud and slowed down Numel's movements. The final blow was a Water Pulse and the Numel would be very weakened. Before anything else could happen, Garret would recall Kappa back to his side. He would approach the Numel with a smile.
"Your quite the fighter. Did you see the fight I had with the Tympole earlier?" The Numel did a low cry and a nod. "I see. Well then how would you like to come with me?" A very happy nod came from the Numel and Garret would throw the Pokeball. "Then welcome to the Team," and the Numel would be caught.
- NUMEL CAUGHT! -
"I'm going to need a name for you... how about Little Jon? No... Ah I think I have a good name. Tanks? I don't have much naming sense, but I don't know it seems to fit. Yeah welcome to the Team, Tanks."
- Tanks, the Male Numel, joined Garret's team! -
"Seems the team took quite a bit of damage. I think it's best to head to Sandgem Town and go towards the Pokemon Center." Garret would then head off to Sandgem Town towards the Pokemon Center.
