wild battles on Sinnoh are done mostly by you, the roleplayer, on your own - staff will provide a pokemon for you and you roleplay out the encounter alongside your party Pokemon, including all attacks and whether or not capture occurred. we ask that you be reasonable in this process - your Pokemon are not invincible and will take damage from any attacks. generally speaking, a Pokemon can take three-four regular hits from another its level and without a type advantage (think two Pikachu's tackling each other), and one-two hits from another with a type advantage. apart from this rule of thumb, the theatrics are up to you. [break][break]please tag your modded threads with [WILD] or else post in the staff request.[break][break]
it is not expected that you get through a wild thread without healing your pokemon at least once or twice. if your pokemon has several intense battles in a row and is not healed in the meantime, staff will let you know that they have fainted, so err on the side of caution and instead just heal them up regularly as long as they're on the front lines. once every two - three battles is best, but it depends on the circumstances.[break][break]
speaking of circumstances, we encourage everyone to not think of losing battles as a negative thing. in character vs. character battles, there are rewards for losing as well as winning. if no victor can be decided or if staff deem that you have been godmodding and/or powerplaying, you will receive a warning. please be realistic and remember that losing, or failing, can be a great source of character development (and makes things more interesting in general!) battle victors will be awarded an extra 30 PD, while the defeated will gain 15 extra. If the thread goes over 3 pages and all 6 pokemon are used, the bonus reward increases to 50 PD and 25 PD, respectively. [break][break]

in line with being reasonable in battles, keep in mind there is a limit to how many moves your Pokemon can use at a time. your Pokemon can use two moves during your turn. If this is a wild Pokemon battle, you roleplay that Pokemon using their attacks; if it is a character vs. character battle, end your post and allow your opponent to post next.[break]In any situations with perceived powerplaying or god-modding (invincibility, dodging every attack, attacking more than allowed) feel free to PM staff. Otherwise, we will be reading your wild threads and rewards will not be gained for victories that were too easy or not won fair enough! [break][break][attr="class","mapstempgen4"]05
status ailments are available for your use during battles. each one works somewhat differently; poison will slowly take down a Pokemon's health, while toxic poison will do more more damage each turn that goes on. both can be healed by an antidote. paralysis will interrupt 50% of a Pokemon's moves, including passive ones, until cured by a paralyz heal. burns operate in the same way as regular poison, slowly inching away at a Pokemon's health until healed by a burn heal. freeze and sleep are similar in that all moves are unable to be carried out for three posts, for character battles, or three turns for wild pokemon battles, but they can be healed by ice heal and awakening respectively. confusion is similar to paralysis and will interrupt 50% of a Pokemon's actions, except that 50% will also come alongside some damage. confusion can only be healed by switching out or a full heal. most abilities can be taken into consideration quite easily in the midst of battle, but there are specific ones that we will break down for members for simplicity's sake. first, abilities regarding gender like attract, cute charm, or captivate can work on any pokemon regardless of gender; a male jigglypuff versus a male or genderless Pokemon could still bring attract into effect. rivalry is still affected by gender.[break]abilities that affect encounters like stench, magnet pull, and static, will not affect how many or which Pokemon you encounter in the wild.[break]pick-up will give trainers a 25% chance of finding a random item at the end of modded threads. payday will net an extra 25% in trainer battle wins. both of these need to be explicitly mentioned for the mods![break][break][attr="class","mapstempgen4"]07
pokemon faint. if you are not using potions effectively, staff will let you know your Pokemon has fainted. if fainting occurs in a wild Pokemon battle, they are considered out of commission for the remainder of your wild thread unless you use a revive or max revive on them to bring them back. if a Pokemon faints during a character vs. character battle, they cannot be used for the remainder of the battle (unless brought back using a revive.) your Pokemon are considered healed to full health via Pokemon center when you begin a new thread, unless you are traveling between two routes that do not have a city in between. Take care to stock up before these longer journeys![break][break][attr="class","mapstempgen4"]11
gym battles are invaluable; badges determine your character's rank and help gauge their prowess in a player vs player battle. once you've succeeded in defeating a gym, you cannot re-challenge the same gym leader. gym threads work like wild threads, meaning that you have to post in a gym thread with your character's attempt at challenging the gym plus the outcome. if it is a well written post and the outcome is fair, then a panel of three staff members will review and approve your challenge and hand you your rewards! keep the abilities of a gym leader's pokemon in mind; you should keep the abilities of wild pokemon in mind too, but staff will double check your gym posts to make sure. volkner's luxray, for example, will do 1.5x the damage against your pokemon if it's the opposite gender. if this is not taken into account in your post, staff will not approve your battle and you will have to try again!! OHKO moves are banned. since we cannot follow accuracy (being statless and all), we would like to prevent OP moves by cancelling them outright. If you want to use a OHKO move, just know that it will not OHKO.[break][break]
