However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
if he was telling the truth, emma had run off somewhere. he didn't know where the girl had gone but all he knew was that he couldn't find her or get in contact with her. while he wasn't too concerned since the girl did run off a lot and eventually came back, he was a little worried since they were in a new region. being in a new place meant unfamiliar places and people. he didn't know her new favorite spots or what was around that caught her fancy. all he knew was that she was somewhere in town and he had no idea where.
so now he was standing in the middle of a mall watching people walk by and scanning the crowd for a little girl. emmett could feel a headache growing as minutes passed and no signs of her. for all he knew, she could have left the mall and been in another city by now. a pang of worry went through him as he turned to look up at the second floor of the building. there was still the candy stores and the toy shops he had not tried yet.
he was technically supposed to be working but finding his sister took priority. it wasn't anything too big. look around eterna city and report back once he was done. it was the same as when he went to floraroma town; nothing to report and a waste of his time. note: post sucks but here we goooooooo

YOU SHOULD'VE KNOWN BETTER THAN TO MESS WITH ME, HONEY
It was a coincidence really. The blonde haired woman was passing through the city of Eterna on the way back from a mission. She'd take the opportunity to drop by the mall on the way back from headquarters on the off chance she didn't have this chance later down the line with all the other tasks lined up. All that was left for her current mission was to report the results and move on to the next task. With the new effort to take over the region and subjugate the pokemon here, all the team rocket members were growing ever so busy with tasks large and small. With that said when she saw a familiar face nearby, she was less than shocked. She did take pause however and watched as the familiar brunette man began walking through crowds of people in the mall of all places.
He did not appear to notice her presence as he walked about which wasn't concerning in the slightest. Elizabeth didn't care to use her charm on the man as she would most due to their familiarity with each other already. The man was usually with his sister Emma, with whom the blonde had taken a liking to with repeated exposure to the duo. While she viewed Emma as a sweet little sister, it made the idea of flirting with her brother that much more awkward and unnecessary. Thus their relationship remained purely friendly. Keeping this in mind the lack of Emma by Emmett's side was disconcerting. Was she back at headquarters?
Seeing no harm in asking, Elizabeth would make her way through the crowd as well to follow the fellow rocket member. Luckily he had stopped walking about to look up at the second floor for whatever reason. She didn't question it as it made things easier. Tapping him on the shoulder from behind, she waited for him to turn before speaking. "Fancy running into you here." She'd ask about Emma after but she wanted to say hi first at least. Taking a moment to read his expression afterwards she gave brief pause, her light tone now showing a hint of concern. "Is there something the matter?"
there were too many people around him to notice that he was being watched and soon followed. it also didn't help that his attention was focused on finding his sister. so when he had stopped to look up at the second floor to see if his sister would be dangling from the railing, he didn't expect to be tapped on the shoulder. hoping that it was emma herself, emmett turned and looked down, only to lock eyes with a familiar face.
he had not been expecting to run into elizabeth at all. she was always sweet to his sister, babying her much to his exasperation. however he couldn't complain. she was just another person who watched out for her when he couldn't do it himself...which clearly was the case now. emmett stared at elizabeth for a few seconds, debating on whether to drag the woman into his search. he knew she wouldn't have a problem helping him for she adored emma. but then again... "i lost emma." fuck it. two pairs of eyes were better than one and he needed all the help he can get. "she might be somewhere in the mall...or outside...or in another city for all i know." he didn't want to sugar coat the situation since it wouldn't be much of a surprise if emma had jumped onto a random bus and took off across the region. he had no way of contacting her and even if he did, she might make a game out of it. "i'm searching for her but as you can see..." he trailed off and gestured to the empty space around him. note: post sucks stillllll

Emmett did not respond immediately to her question which had the blonde tilt her head to the side curiously, waiting for a response. When she had actually gotten one her eyes widened momentarily as the words processed. "What do you mean you lost Emma?" Her voice wasn't one of anger, though if it had been anyone else except for him and Emma herself, the likelihood her real thoughts to show was quite high. Rather they were cautious and measured as if to test to see if he was pulling her leg. Elizabeth couldn't imagine Emmett would lie about something like this yet the same could be said about him losing Emma. The brother was usually good at keeping track of his sister and when he was preoccupied, Emma would be otherwise secure. Being in a new region must have been the root of the issue this time.
He continued to elaborate on the fact that the girl could have been legitimately anywhere and the more she heard the more alarmed she came. Elizabeth had all the faith in Emma to be able to take care of herself... that is to say not really. I'm sorry if you actually believed that. The girl was still young and impressionable, prone to do childish and dangerous things. Worse, she could have said the wrong things to the wrong people and then both Emma and Emmett would be in trouble down the line. With a nod she spoke, "I'll help search for her. When was the last time you remember her with you?"
Thinking over where Emma would possibly be attracted to, she remembered the girl had close to fanaticism with the concept of marriage and weddings. There were also other classic stores like candy and toy stores but this seemed unlikely for one reason or another. Did Emmett even give Emma spending money? Did Emma even understand the concept of buying things to begin with? The usually ever present smile on the blonde shifted to a purse of the lips in thought.
emmett wasn't a comediran. he didn't tell jokes or play pranks on the people he knew just to get a rise out of him. everyone who knew him understood that he was blunt and honest, telling the truth no matter how harsh it may be. so elizabeth stared at him to try and see if he was pulling her leg, he stared right back. she knew him well enough that he wouldn't lie unless he had to. he couldn't blame her for being skeptical. so far he had kept a good eye on emma. but he should have known better that it wouldn't last for long. emma wasn't the type of child to sit still.
emmett shrugged at elizabeth's question and glanced to the side, thinking of the last place he had saw his sister. "we entered the mall and before i knew it, she was gone." it was his fault. he had gotten distracted and before he could ask her where they should head first, she was gone. he had checked all the stores at the front of the mall, the play area, and the giant merry-go-round at the center. she could have even walked out the exit without him noticing. "i already checked back at the entrance. before you found me, i was heading to the wedding shop."
emma's fascination of getting married had always been a thing he hated. she would go up to just about anyone and ask for their hand in marriage. everyone they knew thought it was the cutest thing. he didn't see it. it was just another excuse for his sister to talk and walk off with strangers she didn't know. he could already feel a headache beginning to form. "she could be there asking to try on wedding dresses." note: school kills

As much as Elizabeth was tempted to blame Emmett for Emma's disappearance, what he said sounded likely. The girl was so quick to wander and be distracted. She wouldn't have been surprised if Emma had seen someone she was interested in and followed them in an attempt to ask for marriage. In fact, imagining it was a simple task and made the blonde feel embarrassed among other things. Either way that left little to work with in terms of finding the young girl. Who knows what type of trouble she'd possibly get into?
At the least there were some potential spots out of the picture for now. If Emma was not near the entrance then she must have run off quickly. Unfortunately with the heavy crowd that loitered about in malls, she doubted that anyone asked would be able to provide any information on a little girl. Actually there were probably several little girls that littered the mall. As Emmett brought up the idea of exploring the wedding shop, the blonde nodded. If there were several boutiques then they'd have to search them one by one, but it was their best bet on finding Emma without causing much of a scene. "Somehow I doubt any are made in her size, but it's a good lead to go on." Personally shopping for wedding dresses were not her thing. Sometimes she'd indulge looking at them when Emma brought it to her attention, but otherwise they implied too much commitment.
In any case she'd take the lead and walk towards the closest wedding store on that level, half expecting Emmett to follow. Lavish billowing dresses were on display and Elizabeth half expected Emma to peek out from under one of them. That would be too easy though. Standing outside, Elizabeth took a breath. "Emma!" the woman would call out sweetly, as if a mother seeking her child. The lack of response was disappointing. Turning towards the entryway of the store however she froze momentarily before glancing to the older man. "Mmmm maybe we shouldn't go in together."
To be fair she didn't want anyone getting the wrong idea. She still had her cover to uphold... sort of.
Taking a step backwards, away from the store, she'd give a nervous chuckle. "You go and I'll make sure she doesn't run by out here."
it didn't matter if there were clothes in her size or not, if emma wanted to try on a dress then she would. he didn't know where her fascination with wedding dresses had come from or why she was so obsessed to get married. either way, he was pretty sure that she could charm the owners of the shop to let her try on just about anything.
emmett followed after elizabeth while still keeping an eye out for any signs of emma. he was praying that the girl would show up before they had to search inside. sadly that didn't happen and with a grimace clear on his face, he stood outside the shop and waited to see if the girl would respond to her name. when his sister didn't run outside, he was a little disappointed but not surprised. he watched as elizabeth moved to step forward before pausing and glancing back at him. "i wasn't going in anyway." wedding boutiques were for women and he would just look out of place. and if he went in with her, they were definitely going to get some looks.
at the suggestion that he go in instead of elizabeth, emmett's eyes narrowed. "wouldn't it make more sense for you to go in?" it was strange to see a man walking around a shop like that unless he was helping a relative or friend pick out a dress. what did he look like walking in there by himself shouting a girl's name? he stared hard at the woman for a few seconds before realizing what the problem was. "if you're lucky, maybe you can find a rich man in there whose ready to cheat on his fiance."
but she had a point. he would most likely get some strange looks and a question or two before they left him alone. elizabeth would be followed and asked what she was looking for, what her husband was like, when was the wedding, etc. the headache only continued to grow as he turned and headed inside.
---
a couple minutes later, emmett walked out to the chorus of farewells from the female employees in the store. "she's not in there." a sigh escaped him as he glanced back to the store only to see the same exployees spying on them from the window. he grimaced and turned back to look at elizabeth, making it clear that he wanted to leave. "they thought you were my fiance and were begging me to bring you inside."

Emmett appeared fairly adamant about not entering the store, giving reasons for her to go in instead. That didn't matter though because Elizabeth was the same way. Out of all the possible stores that she entered, she did not expect to enter a wedding boutique for another few years. Going so far as to make a snide remark, the blonde shook her head. Maybe the shot made would have stung if Emma had said that, however since it was Emmett she brushed it off rather easily. It was a fair jab, she had been known to flirt with married men on the job before. While what he said was a possibility it was a relatively low one at that. Wedding shops were never a great place to pick up men who were almost certain to be with their fiancees to begin with.
To be honest the blonde did not even think about how much time she would have to spend fighting off questions associated with her entering the place. On the other hand Emmett did eventually cave and Elizabeth smiled at him as he walked off into the store. Taking the small victory, she turned to have her back at the store entrance as she cast her eyes back outwards to see if she could spot the little girl. The turnaround time was faster than she had expected, the sound of the resounding farewells echoing from the exit as Emmett walked out. It didn't take long for her to read his expression when turning to face him. What he said afterwards was further more exasperating than the initial goal of finding Emma.
"That's funny," she would comment with a deceptive smile. Her tone would not betray her but the shift in her body language might have as her arms went to fold across her chest. Sensing the watchful eyes staring at the two of them, the woman shook her head in an attempt to shake off the feeling, going as far as to turn away from the store entirely. If they weren't in public then she would have gone full bitch mode on their asses, but unfortunately they had more important matters to attend to which required her facade to remain up. "Emma didn't run by here." Which was unfortunate but expected. It would have made their job too easy. Releasing a breath, Elizabeth turned her attention elsewhere. She did not expect her visit to the mall to result like this.
What were children attracted to? Toys? Sweets? Bright colors? Honestly Emma could have been anywhere. "Maybe we should check a candy store and hope she didn't get a hold of any?" The suggestion was more so to make sure they would not have to deal with finding a hyperactive Emma. It would have made their job that much harder as keeping up with Emma without sugar already took a toll on Elizabeth's energy reserves as is. Hopefully Emmett had already made sure of that first. "Or was that one of the places you had already checked."
funny isn't the word he would have used. going inside the shop had been quite the opposite in fact. he had entered and was immediately surrounded by the female employees who were asking who he was and if that was his fiance standing outside the shop. apparently they had been noticed as soon as they walked in front. as much as he tried to deny whatever fantasies they had conjured up in their heads, they were adamant that he should go and bring the beautiful woman inside. it was why he took so long coming out of the store when his search for emma turned up empty.
it was disappointing but not surprising to hear that emma hadn't run out. searching for his sister was never an easy job. at the suggestion of the candy store, emmett grimaced. the thought of emma high on sugar was a disturbing one indeed. she was already hyper as it is but the combination of sweets in her system... "i didn't look there yet. let's head there now and hope she didn't end up eating some." the last thing they needed was a sugar high emma running around the mall. he hoped the girl hadn't found the store yet.
with a weary sigh, emmett began walking in the direction of the candy store with elizabeth in tow. it wasn't hard to find, the shop standing out with a brightly colored logo and the smell of sugar wafting in the air. children were running around the shop as the adults tried to calm them down and pay for their treats in order to get out. emmett hated the place immediately upon arriving.
he looked around the shop swiftly, taking note of each child that ran past him. there were too many children running around for anyone to notice a little girl enjoying herself. "emma!" he called out and barely anyone paid attention. he was just another adult looking for their kid lost in the candy store. "i don't see her." he turned to look at his companion and sighed. "and i doubt these people have noticed a little girl running around here. they're too busy watching their hell spawns." a parent walked by and heard him, glaring as they guided their child away. he wanted to leave already. note: when you call a child a spawn of satan in front of their parent.

Elizabeth took note of the grimace that painted Emmett's face and it would have been a lie if she claimed not to be amused by the sight. She understood why he would do so and if indeed this scenario had happened then the blonde would have swiftly taken her leave. After all technically the little girl was not her responsibility. In any case she did tag along with the fellow rocket as he reluctantly led the way to the candy shop. The bright colors that decorated the interior along with the scent of sweets marked the iconic indication of a child's dream. Instantly while entering the establishment, several children rushed by the two as if seeking a way to dispense of their excess energy. An annoyance to be sure and it became a struggle to withhold that from her features. A giggle of feigned amusement passed.
While her aqua irises scanned each child for the one she was looking for, Emmett had called for the girl by name. There was no response among the loud chattering of kids and their parents trying to calm them. Normal behavior of course. While Emmett stated the obvious, Elizabeth flashed a sympathetic smile knowing that he must have already reached some tolerance limit. As one of the parents glared at Emmett, the woman looked to wave off that look as if to apologize for him. Which was ironic really since she felt the same. "Doesn't seem so," she replied as her attention shifted back. There was no need to scold or tell Emmett off in her eyes since he was just stating the obvious. The parents should have had better control of their own kids.
She figured that she might as well try to speak with one of the employees to see if anyone had seen the girl. Of course Emmett wasn't going to be any help so she didn't tell him about her plan. However she did make a brief jest as she walked forward towards the counter. "Should I buy some for Emma once we find her?" She'd laugh to indicate she was joking. If he didn't stop her though, she might as well have done it.
