witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
welcome to the first ever battle cup tournament! set up along the beaches of sandgem are multiple areas that have been turned into small battlefields; sandy terrain with patches of water spread across to support water types. the battlefield stretches no longer than 50 meters. two trainers stand at the end of each side of the battlefield, a crowd gathering at the side cheering and waiting patiently, and soon enough, an umpire would gain your attention.[break][break]

Raj made it in time for the match. In fact, he arrived just a bit earlier than his opponent. This allowed Rajendra to set the tone, and decide just what kind of battle this would be. "It'll be a three-versus-three." He spoke to the umpire as well as his opponent, releasing the pokemon he registered all at once. Rajendra hated one-versus-one match-ups, so he'd go for something that was as far from that as possible. "This should be fun." His competitive side was starting to show, a bit of anxiety and excitement welling up within.
Rajendra's Dewgong was moving about in the pool of water, while Kirlia danced in-place atop of the sand. Azumaril stood next to the Kirlia, though all of them started to chant. "Dew! Lia! Maril!" Since the battle was essentially underway, Rajendra started to doll out commands. "Marley, use helping hand and follow it up with defense curl. Bella and Harvey, get ready to attack." It would be an all out battle. He couldn't hold back.
[attr="class","monbody"]muscle formation is shown through a sleeveless unbuttoned plaid blouse which had been partly covering a black crop top and shorts that exposed skin from toe to the reach of her thighs. she stood very still with a small smile to greet the opposition, sorry enough for her delay. her frame is precise to reveal a rather lighter side of hers to everyone watching, not that it truly exists specially amongst a crowded beach. but her nervousness would be suppressed internally and not to her opponent’s eyes. the ranger gazed to the entire field, contemplating everything before her. she thrived to get it all over with and it seemed they made it easier for her by choosing a triple battle, for the competition was in fact a obligation. gerald sought to test her entirety and her team's by providing a place he could be watching and she could not flee or... [break] taar's process, firstly, was to shrug off the feeling of indifference, seeing she knew of her father’s capabilities and the outcome of servile people who failed his demands. to the umpire sound she drew her pokemon all at once. gladly the other started with defense. “best of luck.” it was directed to her team as they set themselves for the battle. pikachu runs off with its four paws, gaining speed at each move and ends up where he’d previously started: close to its trainer. the seismitoad is set on the right side of trix and immediately surrounds itself with muddy liquid in which would be thrown towards the marill as they positioned on the middle of the field by the side trying to avoid flames about to come. in the meantime, the fox would shield the group preventing their status change and attempt to throw a purple ball of fire recently formed on its mouth at the direction of the kirlia that stood grounded. simultaneously to the burn attack, tay arches their chest and supports a yellow figure on the lumps on their head ready to jump off when there’s impulse. “now.” taar is clear. they immediately launch vega forwards whilst spitting amounts of acid on the direction of the kirlia. pikachu is midair as he throws a ball of electricity aimed on the dewgong, more so on the water patch. when the ball is destroyed, had it worked or not, the field would come with a jolt of lighting, sparks thrown towards the patch where lays the snowy pokemon and lifts up a dust of sand. the creature would land on the ground close to the spot. [break]pikachu used agility. seismitoad used muddy water. vulpix used safeguard. vulpix used will-o-wisp. seismitoad used acid. pikachu used electro ball.
His opponent was a girl. A cute one at that. Rajendra would make it a point to get to know her after the match...unless he lost, anyways. He wasn't the type to take it very well when he did. But the battle was underway, and Raj needed to stop thinking about that sort of thing. It was time to focus. The elaborate means of attack the contestant made against him made Raj feel as though he needed to make good on every advantage for himself that he ideally could.
His pokemon were bombarded by a series of attacks. Muddy water...acid...burned by fire, and even Harvey got hit by a nasty shock. Quite literally. That Pikachu was a problem. The Galactic knew only one real way to solve it. With the muddy water ruining part of the pool, his Dewgong, Harvey, swam to the far side. He was on Raj's right, and the other contestant's left. "Alright guys!" The heads of his now wounded pokemon perked up in attention. Rajendra's clothes were now dirty, their stark white covered in a muddied brown; Raj looked angrily towards the girl.
"Give that Pikachu everything you've got! Harvey, use your aurora beam, Bella use psychic, and Marley...rollout!" Like some sort of organized wolf pack, they all sought to punish the Pikachu. The attacks came in the order they were made and as soon as he spoke them. First a ranged barrage from the Dewgong, two attacks for good measure. Than a dual series of psychic waves from the Kirlia who was in the same line of thinking with the Dewgong and her trainer. Finally the Azumaril took things up close and personal, rolling forward and right over the poor little Pikachu like it was road kill, and nothing more.
[attr="class","monbody"]taar can catch a glimpse of her opponents’ emotional state and it’s not friendly. she meant to eye an apology but doing that with gerald watching meant something else other than regret. to the other’s command, she tilted her head, wondering if he thought the two pokemon standing free to roam around the field would simply watch their friend being battered. “guys.” she words in the direction of tay and trix as they prepared to do the same move as previously performed by the pikachu and the fellow blue pokemon.[break] unfortunately, the first couple of attacks would have to be defended by vega. “thunder shock! c’mon!” she’s compelled to shout, loud enough for him to hear. once again, there came a jolt to intercept the icy laser. the other rainbow colored that followed not so much as it met the yellow one before he could do anything. he struggled to come back to his paws but as he did, he disappeared completely only to turn up a few meters away. the move continued for five flashes until he stood behind the giant toad. during that time tay threw their fire companion in the air as they spilled muddy water on the direction of the kirlia and marill once again. that psychic wouldn’t come near the tiny pokemon even if they had to barrier it themselves. when the vulpix reached the sky, the weather would feel an unbearable heat wave and flames would come crashing down in the direction of the marill and they’d land safely on a soft patch. had it been successful or not, trix would be prone to the attack and try to evade. to the range of the rollout meant for pikachu she would create a barrier and stop it before it turned into trouble. tay was successfully hit by the other psychic attack as they mouthed a strangled roar in pain and responded with a formation of four thin rings of water around itself, easing some of the wounds. taar’s entire team breathed heavily and so did her. vega glanced to his trainer and both met the same worried look. the ranger replied with a twist of lips coming into a smile, hiding out a light of sadness on her eyes. “you can do it. just for a little while.” there is an intimacy on her tone as it shows a strong connection to her team. she tries her best not to tremble on her spot, remembering how some battles have terrible outcomes… actual losses. 'Ah...' Rajendra was disappointed when the other pokemon intervened. Not because he didn't enjoy the companionship they showed, which was actually good to see, but it just made his plan of narrowing this battle down that much more of an obstacle. Marley was ready for another go, however. Being his newest pokemon via trade, for some reason it seemed to want to prove itself. "MARIL!" It shouted with a harsh tone of voice, almost as if cursing the Seismitoad.
Rajendra fed into this animosity. "Harvey, aurora beam that Seismitoad and then take a rest!" The unforgiving cold ray was cast immediately, and soon enough the Dewgong was snoozing at the bottom of the water, restoring it's vitality. That left the Kirlia and Azumaril to attack. "Bella, two kisses for the Seismitoad!" That probably sounded weird to the audience, but anyone who paid attention would notice just what move was being used; draining kiss. Now it was the Azumaril's turn, who was still staring down the Seismitoad with great ire. "Marley, follow that up by playing rough! Knock that big toad out!" The other trainer would find that Rajendra would just pick on any of them, regardless of their size. And the fact the Seismitoad was trying to heal? Now was the time for it.
Rajendra only just noticed that the other trainer seemed to be harboring something. They looked as if they were nervous from being...watched? He started to wonder if she suffered from stage fright, and didn't want to lose in front of so many people. Though was that really it? She looked to her Pikachu, and the expression seemed to relay worry.
He started to feel a bit guilty, and even a sense of remorse. This battle cup was supposed to be fun competition, and she didn't look to be enjoying herself. It was a pity that he didn't get to meet her before the match, and know if he should hold back. He may have been a member of Galactic, but Raj loathed when a girl couldn't smile. He always admitted they were his weakness since day one...
[attr="class","monbody"]they’re all in bad shape. she sighs with a sadden smile. if under the right circumstances, ones that did not involve being forced into a battle, she’d write in all of her opponents wise choices as notes, for his pokemons were to be reckoned with. “acid!” the toad is quick to launch the same gooey substance in the direction of the white pokemon and the azumarill. whilst hoping to stop the magical beam, they targeted the other to take some time advantage. pikachu moves exactly like rapid fire, its speed is high enough and thus marches itself towards the dewgong screaming his own name, giving the crowd a yellow lighting masterpiece as he crosses the field and creates a ball, probably, even more magnificent as the other on his first turn. he’s similar to the sun, expelling jolts everywhere covered in mystical dust (probably sand from the explosion but it sure felt like magic). taar’s eye sparkled with pride seeing how the hours they spent together payed off into a beautiful spectacle as the pikachu, star named came close to becoming one. next up was the kirlia, attacks all focused on the big one. “try to dodging it, tay. vega has your back.” their effort didn’t do much seeing they were hit by both kisses. however, the pikachu used of the time graced upon him and directed his attention towards the flowerlike trying to get before the second kiss. it failed but his performance does not disappoint as he follows up with a beam of thin lighting coming off of his glowing tail meant to paralyze the other pokemon. the vulpix does not waste their time as her eye’s glow in purple and she surrounds the kirlia with a dark energy, taking note from its current lack of motion, the attack would cause some significant damage. thankfully the seismitoad had the azumarill’s attention by using acid on his attack and the rest towards the dewgong. they also dodged the second attack with as much tactic as they could. trix is left unattended and with that her mouth is opened to expel a beam that’s rainbow colored towards the blue opponent, busy enough with her fellow pokemon. the sound of a bell would signify the end of the battle, the screams of the crowd cheering you on as the battle came to a close. up from his seat the umpire went, megaphone in his hand ready to announce the victor.[break][break]
