It is late afternoon when Molly comes to the cabin, and she finds that it's fortunately, not as creepy as she'd expected it to be. Spacious, homeley, and within walking distance to another cabin. Her hands come up to knock on the smooth wooden doors.
"Hey Taar? It's me, Molly! I have our coffee."
She waits patiently or at least, she tries. A few hours have passed, and in that time she's reported back to Galactic and gotten coffee. She can't deny that she's slightly excited at the prospect of socializing with someone that's not a Galactic, but she wonders if it's worth getting frostbite over.
Molly takes a sip of her own coffee, so sweet and creamy that she might as well have asked for a milkshake with espresso. She glances at the other, extra sugar and a moderate amount of cream. Both are warm in her hands, providing some consolation to the cold winds outside.
"Hurry pleeeease it's cold out here."
Taar Godfrey i hope this is ok! started a new thread but if u wanna move it thats fine!!
she ascended to a greater, warmer place, unsure whether her previous company would follow or not, giving her sudden disappearance. it seemed clever in her head, but as she walked struggling to push pounds of snow out of the way, she began realizing how random and untrustworthy it was to leave someone without a proper goodbye. she should’ve been that reckless when she wished to keep her identity a secret. nothing good would actually come out of leaving someone standing alone like a fool.[break] for the rest of the travel, she repeated the same thought over and over. however, when she got to the cabin it played louder. she’d give anything for a do over. the keys were thrown on the kitchen counter and she immediately reached for the global remote. she took a while to take some of her gear off and, then, some layers of clothes. she remained with a simple black tank top and made plans to change her pants into something drier. [break] after adjusting the temperature to a higher setting, her next motion was turning on the sound. it echoed a quiet melody, the playlist set on favorites. anything to mask the taste of evil surrounding gerald’s intentions with the sophisticated location.[break] outside, sitting firmly on the ground, there were other cabins, scattered around the property. the one rented specially for the mission had its design equal to the others. the only difference was the number carved on the front door: 00.[break] inside, however, looked like a minimalistic mansion. at the same time it held a more rustic decoration, the technology embedded in it made constant reminders of how much progress money could buy. she was sick of it, but when reflux decided to show, someone else did, bang added. she followed a voiced sound in her new pair of pants, the scintillation of burning wood on her back managed to lighten her figure, still tense. with a twist of nob and a light pull, she found molly standing on the porch. heart skipped a beat. for her mind had been playing a dangerous game of apprehension and she was starting to believe that her chances of having some company for the evening were crushed. "hey-" she grinned, only to remember to get out of the way and prevent both from freezing to death. "sorry. come on in." her gaze never left the others frame, a welcoming look slowly taking the place of a startled ranger.

Molly is quick to dart inside the doorway, shivering despite her heavy coat. "Th-thanks." She stutters. She hadn't realized how cold it was until now. It's so warm she could practically sleep in here.
"Much better." She sighs, placing both cups on a random table. She sheds her outerwear, letting it pool around her feet. Underneath lays her Galactic uniform. Molly would never seek to wear it out in public, but she's made herself comfortable enough around Taar to not care abotu it. She makes the outfit look good, anyways.
Molly picks up the clothes are her feet, circling around so she could see the mansion fully. Minimalistic yet sightly rustic.
"Nice cabin."
She picks up her cup and takes another sip, leaving up with a content smile. The other remains on the table, and Molly motions for her to try it. Taar's much easier to talk to now that she's comfortable, and Molly's glad she was persistent back at their first meeting.
the ranger shut the door silently before her, loose arms automatically meeting on her back. shoulders once at ease due to the appearance of the other became tense to the sight of the uniform. nothing was wrong with how it fit molly’s body, but being alone with the idea of it… it troubled her mind. although she could never judge what the other’s been through, being a galactic had a heavier look on one’s ideals. she chuckled to the compliment, still partly on the conversation. "it’s a real charmer." jokingly, she made reference to the fire place doing most of the illumination with the slightest of help of the fading lamps scattered across the cabin.[break] she grabbed the cup from the table as soon as the other spoke of its existence (she wasn’t really paying attention to anything else but the outfit molly had on), taking a sip of its content. the extra sugar was surely in it. "it’s delicious. thank you." she smiled. "can i take it?" taar pointed with her head to the clothes she was holding, so she could hang it by the entrance and come back to her guest.[break] "i’m thinking now i’m the one who owes you an apology for being so defensive about the whole thing. i mean i-" stumbling at the end, her thoughts wandered through the whole process of identification. although she mannered her actions when they were confronting each other, she wasn’t sure of the outcome. "did i hurt you?" she stepped forward only to back down to the sudden realization, eyes swimming in regret, seeing how she held onto the mark felt needless. she looked terrified of the probable answer.
Molly takes a look at how the fireplace casts a golden light on the place, with its crisp crackle and the way it warms her to the core. "How romantic." She jokes back, with a devious grin and a sly look on her face.
Molly looks at her curiously, waiting as she takes a sip. She says she likes it; and there's no sign of disgust on her face, which meant it was genuine. She sighs in relief, nodding before shedding her hands of the outwear and unloading it into Taar's. "You're the best."
She edges closer to the fireplace to warm her hands, turning to face Taar when she starts apologizing. At this, Molly's gaze softens, and she smiles, "No not really--I mean, it kind hurt at first but it's fine now." She says, waving her arm for emphasis.
It may have been uncomfortable, but it was far from an attack. She's been through worse, especially being in Galactic, and Molly doesn't seek to recall such memories. She focuses on Taar instead, how the fire lights up the regret in her eyes, and shrugs off the apology like it's nothing.
"We're okay Taar. I'm sure it was important to you; I'm really sorry if I crossed a line."
the flames seemed to set them off to a rather calmer start, making taar wish she didn’t fight at all when the other requested to see her face. she strangled thoughts of insecurity, as much as she could, to attend molly properly, leading her cup upwards and taking long sips of the hot beverage. she smiled to the warmer feeling on her throat.[break]
brows furrowed and lips pressed themselves forcefully to the mention that she, indeed, inflicted some kind of pain on the other. of course, she’s been in fights when doing business for Gerald, but never with someone who said ‘don’t you wanna be friends’ in the process of a transaction. “w-well. i’m still deeply sorry. it felt complicated.” eyes rarely looked into the galactic member’s. she meant to explain everything, but had to remind herself how little they knew about each other. not being completely strangers didn’t mean they were friends. “uh.. you make yourself comfortable, please.” the ranger gestured to the many options of chairs and sofa closer to the fireplace. “unfortunately, i don’t have anything on the fridge yet… but i can figure something out if you’re hungry..?” does she even know how to make friends? probably not. it was like a fading memory, one she’s decided to for erase from her skills set a long time.

Molly can tell that she's not completely happy with her answer, even though she'd practically been led off the hook. "In that case, I totally forgive you!" She chirps happily, quickly forgotten and stored away in her mind. She leans over, hoping to perhaps catch Taar's gaze.
"Thanks! It's fine, I'm not really hungry." Molly says, making her way to the couches. She settles herself into one, snuggling into the warm cushions. It's nice, especially in front of the fireplace. Her eyes momentarily close in bliss.
"It's fortunate that your employer owns such a nice place. Join me?" She lilts, a slightly devious tone in her voice. She pats one of the cushions next to her and winks, although it's more of a joke than anything.
It's not long, however, until a knock interrupts them. Some voices can be heard behind the door. She looks at Taar curiously, slightly nervous because she's in her Galactic uniform and she shouldn't be seen by civilians.
taar smiled at ease to the second response and the invitation. when she finally sat where molly previously patted, the knock sounded and her phone got a notification, gladly it was on vibrate. “no no no no.” she whispers until breathless due to the realization, terrified of the probable outcome.[break] “please, come.” she grabbed molly’s hand without further warnings, conducting her to the stairs in a hurry, making way to the room down the hall. since it was the ugliest, she felt like no one would pick it. to be extra safe, she closed the door behind and motioned for them to enter the dark closet. stopping after the vibration on her pocket took longer to finish. the duration meant it was a call. with an apprehensive look towards molly and the closet, she answered the next one. “uh yeah, mark. sorry for the mess, my mother and sister were just there you must’ve missed them. yeah… yeah, she must’ve left it.. no.. she didn’t mention, they usually make a mess when together. -- just you know, make yourself at home. sure, you all can stay for as long as you want. kay, bye.” she regretted every syllable of the conversation, that even her stomach complained in a growl. upon hearing muffled steps where they were seconds ago, she decided they definitely couldn’t take any chances and pointed to the closet. as soon as molly would come in, they’d get in the deepest corner to avoid to be caught. they’d be immerse in darkness, so taar planned to apologize for the actual mess and danger she had just put both of them through. “i’m so so sorry, molly. they- i told t-them they could stay at the cabin, since i thought it was going to waste. i-i’m not supposed to be in town, they can’t know i was here. i’m so sorry. and you, oh my god. you… you know they’re all rangers, right? i can’t believe i didn’t remember they would be here. i am so so sorry... ” the whispered voice trembled as if she confronted a blizzard whilst an versing an apology, although it was hot enough inside the tight space.

Taar sits beside her, and for a moment, it's completely peaceful. She opens her mouth to say something, but before she can get a word out there's a knock on the door, her phone vibrates on her hands and Taar suddenly has a panicked looked on her face.
Molly's hand, clutched in hers, is suddenly pulled in the direction of the stairs. Her voice is breathless while she speaks. Molly is silent as she edges into the closet, where they're left in darkness. Her conversation is nervous yet calm, and Molly doesn't dare let go of her hands (That are strangely more soft than she'd expected it to be, but she ignores that thought).
And she's led into the darkest corner possible, so black that she couldn't see her hands if she waved it in front of her face. Their breaths are loud in the choking silence that follows. Molly swallows, pushing down what fear had congealed in her throat, squeezes Taar's hand tight, and scrabbles to hold at what she assumed was her shoulder.
"Shhh, Taar it's okay. We're going to be fine." She whispers, because Molly's going to have to be the one who stays calm between them, even if she's painfully aware of the silk uniform that lays across her skin. She tugs it at, half tempted to take it off and hide, but she cannot. At least, while Taar's here with her. At this, Molly settles herself on the ground, tugging at Taar to do the same.
They're going to be here for a while.
She tries to smile, even though it's too dark to see anything, and gives her hand another squeeze.
taar didn’t remember when she started panicking, maybe it was the first time in eighteen years. it sure felt like she was experiencing every panic attack suppressed throughout her time with gerald. the thought that getting caught may cause her father to distrust her and lead to her family’s demise sickened her to the point that sitting down actually became a necessity. she was glad of molly’s reassurance, a weak smile directed to wherever the other’s frame were, realizing if she didn’t shut down the rushed and longing apology, they would definitely be in real trouble.[break] she also didn’t remember when she locked fingers with the galactic member, but by the time she realized it, it was too late. her thumb automatically ran across molly’s hand, tracing uneven patterns. she looked down. couldn’t see. up. no way of knowing what the other was thinking by their expression; she couldn’t fucking see. [break] quiet controlling breathing. “i’m sorry.” one last time, so she wouldn’t break her habit, hoping molly wouldn’t dismiss their contact any time soon. it was the only thing grounding her. keeping her from projecting every outcome of their situation on their head. was there a law that the five rangers downstairs could use to arrest both of them? a galactic and ranger shall never be in the same room… or in that case, closet together with consent of the ranger’s side… was there a rule like that? her memory skipped and she began tracing nervously with her thumb once again.[break] taar was glad molly couldn’t see her terrified frame, it was embarrassing enough that she began vomiting words on her face. she wasn’t in a good place to try befriending the other, so until something came from the other party, she’d stay still and try not to crush molly’s hand in the meantime.
It's quiet as they sit in the closet, darkness shrouding their beings, tensions high as the rangers sit downstairs, blissfully unaware of their very presence. Taar runs her fingers across the knuckles of her hand, her breathing slowly coming to quiets.
I'm sorry. She says, her voice slightly strained, hands clutched so tight that Molly can practically see her white knuckles. At this, Molly only scoots closer. Her other hand comes to rest on top of Taars, because she may not be so romantically inclined, but at this moment, in their own world, they only have each other.
"Don't be." Molly murmurs, and blinks and realizes. For every person that she's met, she's always been eager to manipulate them. Test them, until they're gone from her life. Not that she complains. Molly seeks to keep people at a distance, but it seems as if Taar's already gotten past her shields, the soldier who unwittingly bypasses all her defenses.
"You know, you shouldn't be so scared for someone who nearly broke my arm hours earlier." She says, regretting it instantly as it comes out of her mouth. Molly backtracks, mind racing to supply anything that would soften the blow.
"I-I mean we're going to be fine. Don't be scared. It's not like they have a reason to look in here, anyways."
pinkish orbs dart in blackness due to the second statement, she quickly motioned to break contact but remained to listen the next. she shouldn’t be freaking out about everything, but the fact that the galactic once attacked by the ranger had been speaking the softest of words towards her. “i’m- thank you…” it wasn’t enough. she’s compelled to make up for her actions one way or another. “i’m sorry about your arm. i recognized you from the moment i saw you. you… you were there and i was- too immersed into that- that mask of mine...” it was so quiet, she felt the words fading before getting to the companion.[break] “i would never hurt you…” she is most definitely pissed at herself for using her fighting skills to scare her. she was never in imminent danger for she’d known molly’s style at the academy… even though she’s galactic now. none of that mattered, so she’d show to molly how much she regretted ever touching her that way. “i could’ve easily ran away…” inside that closet was craved her heart. “i guess.. i felt your insistence to be- pure. so i kept coming for you.” taar searched for molly’s eyes and somewhere in front of her she’s convinced herself she had found them. her voice left the regretful tone to obtain a mild melody, one she made sure only molly would hear. “i shouldn't have touched you. at all. i mean it, i would never hurt you.” a general rule she had made up a while ago, never to use her strength on someone else. now, a bonus addition: not even to scared them. when she came to an end, she released a strangled breath, hoping molly wouldn't mind she was apologizing for hundredth time.
NOTES i hope this is okay tho taar felt like explaining at least a lil|TAG |molly rhode
Molly listens quietly, Taar's words a confession among whispered apologies and condolences. She's intensely regretful, and Molly smiles, not because she's being manipulative, but she's genuinely touched by how much Taar cares about the whole situation. It's been long forgiven in Molly's mind, but the other still feels regret.
"Taar," Molly whispers. She shifts herself so she's kneeling in front of her, her empty hand reaches to rest on the other's shoulder. She gazes into what she assumes is Taar's eyes. "I'm not upset at what happened. I forgive you for everything -- in fact, I'm glad things happened the way it did." She laughs, soft but genuine.
She attempts to hug Taar, but in such darkness, even a task so simple would prove difficult. Her embrace is caught short by a kiss, catching what must be the corner of Taar's lips. Molly reels back, although she doesn't dare let go of their linked hands.
She stutters, lost for words. Her heart beats quickly, anxiety covering up what warmth laid in her chest. She's ruined their friendship, what fragile, special connection she's built up over the last couple hours. The thought makes her want to run, but there's no where to hide.
taar is in awe, face completely flustered due to the sudden kiss. it felt deeply intimate and wrongly… (for they had just met) good. as soon as she began hearing molly’s voice, the cadet interrupted her saying, feeling like it her actions wouldn’t matter if both of them wanted this. did she thought a kiss would ease the tension of the entire situation? perhaps. or it would make it worse. nonetheless, for her it didn’t matter the reason in which initiated it or the outcome. she felt safe and a bit disturbed by everything that’s happened. when her free palm reached for the other’s cheek, it stopped upon the feeling of a different region: her shoulder. she quickly traced a path towards the side of molly’s face. she didn’t ask for permission, her fingertips were determined to blindly find the others’ lips by touching some small parts of her frame.[break]she’s rushed, pink marking her own cheeks, for what she’s about to do. she just needed that jolt back, from when she felt the quick peck on the corner. a darkened hunger, she sought satiate by approaching exactly where her thumb was pressed. she traded her fingers for her own lips, partly opened to meet molly’s. heart quickened on her chest and eyes were unessentially closed.
Molly's speaking is caught short when she suddenly feels a hand on her shoulder, too flustered and shocked to protest against it. She tenses as it trails up her neck, feather-like brushes that end on her lips. At this, Molly's breath quickens, unable to pull away from such an intimate touch.
Taar's fingers are quickly replaced by her own lips, and she's caught up in a kiss. It takes a moment for her to fully comprehend what's happening, and when she does, she pulls away (although there's a part of her that pleads to keep going).
"--didn't mean to." She breathes, full of regret and despair. She struggles to swallow the lump that's stuck in her throat. Her face is hot, and she unconsciously pulls her hand away from Taar's, adverse to what was formerly a purely platonic touch.
She briefly considers if it's worth running; to perhaps make a dash and hop for the window, but she knows it's much safer to stay here. And she's sure that Taar would feel even worse considering her personality. Molly backtracks quickly, scrabbling to save what remnants of their relationship remained.
