THE MORTAL MAN I
USED TO BE HAS DIED
He left before day break. He was sure she would have understood. There was an allure to being awake in the world and on the hunt while everything else slept. It gave him the feeling of being an apex predator, more so than usual. What's more was that doing it with his new and budding team make him feel like a pack leader. As usual his Tirtouga trailed along side him, slow as ever. The breeder couldn't say he so much minded. It was nice to take a leisurely stroll through a route without a care in the world.
His team was growing, the pokemon were in fighting shape and full strength. Even the egg in his backpack was in high spirits as its random enthusiastic bursts of rumbles had long since turned to rhythmic pulses. Like contractions for a woman giving birth the pulses seemed to be increasing in frequency as the days went on. It started at once every twelve hours or so but now it was already at once an hour. He wagered it wouldn't be long before the pulses or activity came every few minutes and then it would finally hatch.
Of course by then the egg would no longer be in his possession. He'd posted an ad on 'CreggsList' and after getting no responses he saw an ad for a pokemon from back home that would make for a useful addition to the team. Luckily enough for him the poster was looking for something "cute" and "round". What were the odds of that?
He called her cell phone when he arrived at the rendezvous point. He supposed he should have been on high alert. Meeting people to carryout deal and barters brokered online was always risky. When the woman a few feet away from him answered her phone and her "Hello?" resonated through the air and simultaneously through his phone, he knew he was in the right place and then being robbed was highly unlikely. Hanging up on her he stepped forward tapping her on the shoulder. "Yo."
