major news alert!
witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
"Later dad!" She made sure to call out over her shoulder, but she didn't look back, offering a backwards wave as she made her way towards Route 202 with Anise hanging from her shoulder as Fennel bounded to keep up with long human strides. After all he found that a hard task on such short and stumpy legs. Amity noticed that Anise was staring at her, head tilting as if to ask her a question. "What? It went how it normally goes. 'Amity, how is your Phanpy, Amity, have you met somebody yet?' and let's not forget my favorite, 'Amity, you did what?" It was an answer to her Abra's silent question, and Fennel waved his trunk in slight annoyance as if he were agreeing.
"Abra?"[<<What in Ho-oh's name is wrong with you?>>] It was a question which the small blue elephant snorted at. "Phanpy Phan!"[<<Don't act like you don't know! It's that researcher! A Pokemon can only take so much of his trunk being pulled before he starts getting annoyed!>>] he answered to which the Abra shook her head. "Bra." [<<Really? Doesn't bother me.>>] "Phanpy!" [<<Of course, it's not happening to you!>>] Amity slowed to a stop at Fennel's outburst, turning back to him and kneeling down so she could get a better look at him. "Hey, Fennel?" She asked, and when it seemed the Phanpy was waiting for the question, she let him have it. "Why the long face, huh?"She was met with an angry stare and a cry of his name as he scratched the ground with a paw and Amity couldn't help but chuckle, placing a hand on his head. "Relax, bud. We don't come around that often and the trip to dad's isn't that bad." She said as she stood up, turning to continue walking. "Phann.." [<< It's not that bad, they say.yeah well neither of you are a Phanpy...>>] he chattered to himself as he followed after them.
Amity wasn't really sure which direction she was supposed to be heading to next, but Route 202 was a place that was familiar to her, and it was nice to come back here once in a while. Visiting dad was always a plus as well since she knew despite his absorption in his work that the man often got lonely, as it daughter it only seemed right to come and visit him when she was in the area. Though she knew she probably owed Fennel quite a few Pokepuffs, or whatever it was he liked for her father's current attention being on ground types just like him.
She just thought that it would be a great idea to try catching some pokemon again. I mean, Banette was just itching to test out how much stronger he was now that he evolved. The little guy has been boasting about how he has evolved while the others were still babies - saying something like he were the oldest out of all of them. Purrloin certainly wasn't amused, reminding the arrogant ghost type that he lost when they were first battling. They're little travelling was.. Interesting, to say the least. "Purrr.. (Ugh.. You're being annoying.)" Purrloin was out of her pokeball, walking alongside her new trainer whilst the perverted little ghost was being held in her arms. "Ban, banette ban! (You can think whatever, but I'd get Irene the next pokemon twice as fast as you!)" No, those two didn't get along at all.
An irritated Rocket Grunt quietly hissed at both the arguing pokemon, shooting a glare with her soft, ocean blue eyes. She was unamused. "Both of you, quit it before I just put you back in the storage box!" Her voice was adrupt and sharp, as she was fed up with their constant bickering and childish bouts of who was better. "Ban, Banette.. (Well she started it..)" The doll pokemon so immaturely sulked. Same old Shuppet she adored and loved.. Same old Shuppet who kept trying to get under her skirt..
Just grand.
"Look, I'm only headed to Sandgem town because I have to go pick something up. You two, don't make things harder on me." Irene groaned in distaste, and Purrloin didn't seem to be annoyed. In fact.. the feline actually agreed with her. Neither of them were patient, and neither would have wanted to keep up this petty argument any longer. The trip was a long and silent one, that is until Banette picked up the sound of a girl and two other pokemon. It's zippered lips curled into something like a devious smile, pointing outwards from Irene's arms. He eagerly began pointing on ahead, to where she saw another girl in sight. "Banette! Ban! (Know what's always fun? Scaring people! Come on, please?)" Banette was certainly jumpy today, but Irene didn't see a problem to that. Without hesitation, she let go of the Ghost who so smoothly extended it's shadow outwards, right by the Phanphy.
Without a second though, the shadow extended outwards and actually grabbed the poor ground type's leg out of the blue with the intention to scare it. If Phanphy were to look downwards, all they would see is an onimous shadow smiling widely in an.. Off putting manner.
"We've got to figure out what we're going to do with you, Anise. All you know right now is Teleport." Anise tilted her head at Amity as if trying to ask her what was wrong with that and Amity stopped for a moment to give a stretch. "Nothing's really wrong with it, we've just got to get you more moves.""Abra." [<<So what you mean is there's something wrong with it.] In response to whatever the Abra had said, Amity simply shrugged. "If you want me to put it that way, yes something is wrong with it.""Bra." [<<Why do I listen to you again?>>]
For once it wasn't Fennel being the butt of the conversation, and he was enjoying following behind and not being noticed by Anise or Amity, his ears flicking once in a while. Though he slowed. Why did he feel like something was following him? It was a creepy feeling that ran from his tail to the tip of his trunk, but he couldn't figure out why. It was then he felt something grab his leg and he yelped. "Phhaaaaaan!"[<<Sweet Lugia on the tallest pine tree!>>] He wasted no time as Amity turned to see what was going on, leaping into her arms and nearly knocking her off her feet when she was forced to catch him.
"Hey, you aren't exactly going easy on the food these days are you?" She asked as she felt his body shudder under her hand. Looking around, it didn't take her long to spot a trio that had been walking near them. She didn't like to stereo-type Pokemon like she was at the moment, but anyone could see that the Banette seemed shiftier than it needed to be, and she wasn't sure what else on this route could have made Fennel jump like that. Well honestly, a berry rolling into his foot could cause him to spring up as well but she didn't see any of those on the round. Though she had to admit she was impressed by the Banette. She decided to walk over, and it seemed to be then that Her Phanpy noticed something as he dared to turn around. "Phan?!" [<<Did you do that?!>>] he demanded, sticking his trunk out at the Banette in an accusative manner. Anise shook her head. "Bra."[<<Blaming strangers because you jump at your own shadow. Sure, one way to make friends.>>]"Phan!"[<<It wasn't my shadow! It had his grin!>>] Amity meanwhile seemed more interested in the girl. "Nice Banette there. Any reason you're headed towards sleepy old Sandgem Town?"
Purrloin was still walking alongside her trainer, clearly unimpressed with how childish Banette was being. Wasn't he suppose to be setting some sort of example after becoming the 'older one'? How stupid could you get? Honestly.. Part of her was keeping her back from driving the bottom of her paw right on up to her forehead. "Loin.. (He's an idiot..)" The feline growled, sharply narrowing her eyes up at the indifferent trainer. "Just.. Let him go wild. He'll stop once he's entertained himself." Wise words, good advice. You wouldn't want to go spoiling Banette's fun. Irene learned that the hard way.. She had to put up with Shuppet's constant yapping and whining when Irene very much walked in at the wrong time.
Banette on the other hand was clearly enjoying himself. He hadn't messed around with anyone in ages, and now he was just itching to get his hands in on some trouble. While he wasn't expecting too much of a reaction, he still found that it would be entertaining just to see what the petite blue pokemon's initial thought about it would be. He loved jump scares, his trainer loved jump scares.. He was good. All that's left was to witness a beautiful reaction, and let me tell you, Banette was not disappointed.
That reaction was priceless.
The Banette couldn't help but to laugh, snickering in the shadows quietly while Irene was hiding the temptation to laugh along with it. Clearly, the both of them seemed to enjoy watching the poor elephant pokemon suffer in that way. What it screamed out only made things all the more entertaining. The doll pokemon had almost fallen down to roll on the ground, while Purrloin was hiding that urge to laugh at the same reaction. "Purr.. Purrloin? (Lugia on the tallest pine tree..)" Purrloin was clearly struggling to stifle in laughter, while Irene was able to calm herself down. It was around this time where the little trio had met eyes with the blonde, feline, and doll. Banette calmed himself down, shrugging his shoulders. "Ban~ Banette. Banette. (I have no idea what you're talking about! Just because I'm a ghost huh?)" He put his hands in front of him, trying to act offended or something. Purrloin was just resisting the urge to burst into laughter. She raised a paw to her mouth gracefully, walking on her two legs next to the Banette. "Puurr.. Loin? (Although I do admit.. I never have seen a Lugia on a Pine tree before..)" The feline rolled her tongue, only emphasizing her words.
"Jeez.. Knock it off you two. Thanks, and sorry about that. Banette just loves causing trouble." Irene sighed, coughing into her sleeve to cover up the bottled laughter. Her attention turned from the bickering pokemon to their trainer, a girl with silver - or was it blonde? - hair that was styled up rather originally. She was pretty, but her hair was a bit too messy. Mercilessly, Irene's eyes very quickly scanned the girl's figure from toe and up, using the motion of going from her pokemon to eye contact as a cover up. She seems.. Sociable enough. "Hm? Oh, we're just going there to pick something up. My grandpa said that he needed to get something, but I just said I'd get it for him." This was.. Mostly a lie. Actually, she just needed to get something from the Pokemart to return to Team rocket. Just restocking a few things and all; nothing major. Still, it was an important job to do. In attempts to weave her way through and direct the attention away from herself, she returned the question. "How about you? You don't look like the type to be having a party in that quaint town."
Fennel clearly wasn't amused with the antics that the other Pokemon had managed to pull already within about two minutes of meeting them, and he wanted to leave as soon as possible. He growled at the Banette, trunk curling inwards as if he was about to say something when Anise cut in front of him to answer Purrlion, hoping to diffuse any of the fighting words that her team member would have managed to spew out. Even if there was a battle neither of them could stand against a ghost type. "Abra Ab."[<<Honestly I haven't either. He says strange things when startled.>>]] The small elephant snorted at the Abra, shifting in Amity's arms.
"Phan."[<<That's not an invitation to go spooking me.>>] Fennel added onto Anise's comment. Amity was paying no mind to the Pokemon as it was their trainer that had her attention now. "Oh, I see. Not really surprised, plenty of old people live around here, something about the prestige of the town with the lab being there and all, I never really got it." She mentioned as she thought about the phrases she had been hearing all her life. She and Charlie had been among the younger residents of Sandgem town back then and even now things hadn't changed that much. When the woman asked why she was here, Amity waved it off.
"Not here to party? Come on, just because they're old it doesn't mean they don't know how to bust a move...and a hip." She stated. "Nah, I used to live here with my dad. He still lives here though so I went back to visit him, that's all." she knelt down in front of her Banette to get a better look. "Takes some experience to raise a Banette like this. I'd love to see it in battle. You know, just not against me." she laughed before standing back up.
We are carnivore you know what we're coming for You got nowhere to hide So what you're running for? The type of creature that your papa used to warn you for
Banette was clearly amused, as was Purrloin. While Purrloin was being her graceful self, crossing her arms while staring at the other two pokemon indifferently, Banette wasn't even trying to hide how funny it was. "Purr? Purrr, loin loin. (See? At least the Abra has more tact than you.)" The feline chimed, directing her words over to the turbulant doll. The abra looked reasonable at least, but part of her wanted to mess with the poor thing. "Ban banette! Banette ban! (Oh my arceus! I feel so offended!)" The ghost dramatically exclaimed, feigning devastation.
While Irene was holding the urge to roll her eyes at the pathetically comedic act by Banette.
"Banette, behave." Irene snapped, only causing the mischievous pokemon to pout whilst glaring up at it's trainer like she were a buzz kill. "Banette.. (Geez.. You're no fun.)" He pouted, but Purrloin only proudly lifted her chin up confidently. "Purr. (She has more class than you, rag doll.)" Again, the two little bickering pokemon didn't get along in the slightest. While Banette was being childish, Purrloin thought that this would be a good chance to introduce themselves to the girl's own pokemon. "Purr, Purrloin. (At least one of us are civil on each side.)" She pointed out, extending her paw out to shake the Abra's hand as a gesture of courtesy. Whether or not the Abra shook her paw in return, she didn't really care much.
On Irene's end, she quietly listened to the other woman speaking up. It made sense, that so many elderly would go there because of it's silence and peace. "It's understandable.. Things are usually pretty peaceful. I say it's a nice place to retire from Jubilife." She pointed out, hoping that perhaps maybe she wasn't completely wrong. The sarcasm used in her tone of voice wasn't unfamiliar, and Irene was able to stifle in a hint of laughter at such a comment. "Oh yes, what am I saying? It's perfect for an all nighter. Maybe it even rivals Unova?" We all know how advanced Unova is, after all. The sarcasm was short lived, seeing how she laughed it off alongside the blonde. It's just nice being able to let loose like this. You know, a time of peace.
Ironic how she joined Rocket just so that she wouldn't have to live a life of deafening silence.
She hummed in response to being told that the girl was going to visit her father. So. It was family. That was good, visiting every once in a while. "Really? That's nice. I haven't visited my old man in years." She reminisced, however she shook the thought off fairly quickly. Irene was already over being homesick.
Banette was still messing around, however he stopped when the girl looked crouched down to get a better look. As a sly smile crept up on his face (which actually still looked like his own smile). Irene was just praying that he would behave while she was getting a better looksie. "Pfft.. You think? He's a little rascal, that's for sure. I have to say, you have a pretty nice Abra yourself. I haven't seen one stay awake for this long." Granted, Abra were known for sleeping the majority of time.
At least someone here was rational enough. Anise had long since climbed down from the comfort of Amity's shoulder to see what was going on around her, what with both Banette and Fennel being rather disruptive, the Purrlion seemed to have a great amount of common sense and Anise felt a strange Kinship with her despite the dark type's advantage over her in battle. After all, that didn't matter outside of battle did it? "Abra Abra."[<<Indeed, dealing with Fennel all the time I need a bit of a break from one with less than half a brain.>>] If Fennel heard her, he pretended he didn't as Anise took the Purrloin's paw for a shake. Instead he lifted his trunk, turning his head in a bored manner.
And that was when he spotted something. Wrapping his trunk around Anise's arm, he pulled at it. "Phanpy Phan."[<<You guys, I think we have some company.>>]For a moment he seemed to forget his anger at the Banette altogether in favor of whatever was approaching them from rustling bushes. Amity seemed to be paying no mind to the group of Pokemon however, her attention on the woman she was speaking to. "Nah, I don't think it quite Rivals Unova, I hear it's a party there all the time. There's less hip breaking as well." She mentioned, waving off the idea of Sandgem ever being more lively than Unova. Sadly most of the people she had grown up with were old, retired, and boring. But sometimes she wondered if she could have truly handled growing up anywhere else. The woman mentioned not seeing her father in years, and Amity shrugged. "My Phanpy wishes we didn't see my father as often these days. He's really been into the study of Ground-Types recently." she mentioned, though she was surprised when Fennel didn't chime in in discomfort.
"Silly or not he's gotta be pretty strong. My lot are still working on evolving." At the mention of her Abra, she laughed. "Yeah, you'll see my Phanpy asleep more than her, she's pretty sharp for an Abra. I'm Amity by the way, and you are...?" Introductions seemed to be as far as they would get when Fennel alerted her to a disturbance. There was growling as two canines stepped from the undergrowth of the route. Both seemed hostile and Amity turned to face them, briefly glancing to Irene. "Looks like we've stepped on some toes. This must be their turf." She said. They'd probably have an easier time up against a fire type, if she used Fennel. She knew for a fact Anise wouldn't stand a chance against the Poochyena. "If you'd take care of that Poochyena, we could ward off Growlithe for sure. Fennel, you're up alright?" Fennel's ears raised, a frightened expression on his face. "Phan?!" [<<M-Me? You can't be serious!>>] But she was, and Fennel felt Anise push against his hind quarters, and he was shoved before the duo.
Before they had a chance to react the Growlithe burst into a speedy run, backed by its agility before sinking burning teeth into Fennel's ear. Fennel cried out and shook it off, waving the singed ear in the air. "Come on Fennel, don't take that with a grain of salt, growl, then right into a rollout!" Anise had clambered back up onto Amity's shoulder to get away from the Poochyena and she watched as Fennel sucked in a breath before releasing an intimidating growl, at least for him considering Fennel wasn't all that intimidating to begin with. He then curled into a ball, dirt spouting behind him as he began rolling towards his target with an intense speed. The Growlithe had been busy shaking itself free of the short startle the growl had given it, and didn't see Fennel coming in time, knocked into the air by the force of the blow.
Though it seemed to recover in air and quickly started gathering Power. Amity's eyes widened as she recognized what it was. "Fennel, dodge!" But it was too late, and the power slammed into Fennel before he could move. Fennel stood up, trying to shake off the move. Amity knew now that they had to take care of it, and quickly. "Rollout again! Give it all you've got!" Fennel once again formed a fast rolling ball and rolled towards the Growlithe, slammed into it just as it hit the ground once again. This time Amity, knowing another Reversal would mean trouble, tossed a Pokeball at the small orange creature.
One shake, two shakes, three shakes, then a sound click, and Amity sighed in relief. Though she seemed to realize something and turned to Irene. "Crap, sorry! I don't know if you wanted that I uh...sorta panicked there." She said, scratching the back of her head sheepishly as she moved to pick Fennel up off the ground.
We are carnivore you know what we're coming for You got nowhere to hide So what you're running for? The type of creature that your papa used to warn you for
Purrloin felt a spark of understanding between herself and the psychic type. In her opinion, she always thought that psychics were way too calm and well behaved the majority of the time. Of course, to be fair, many people viewed dark types to be malicious and cunning. They weren't totally wrong of course, but she'd have preferred it if they didn't make such a big commotion. It'd be so much easier to get what you wanted when people were unsuspecting of you. "Purr~ (Glad we're on the same page)." She purred, clearly content with this new er.. 'Friend' so to say.
Banette on the other hand was enjoying his time messing with the Phanpy. However, Fennel wasn't the only one to sense some sort of disturbance in the area. Not one foreign body, but also another. A dark type.. Somewhere. Banette wasn't good with dark types, he despised them just as much he did Purrloin. He grew silent, approaching his trainer who was a bit too engaged in the conversation. "I'd love to visit Unova sometime though. I heard there was this amusement park and I've been dying to visit." Assuming she'd ever be good enough to be assigned to the branch in that large region. Her eyes wandered over to the petite elephant, giggling softly. "Right! Name's Irene, nice meeting you~" Her voice chimed, returning a sufficient introduction. However, she was curious, what was the Phanpy spacing out for? And why was Banette so tightly clinging to her leg? "Banette? Something wrong?" She asked him, however she received her answer soon enough.
Out from the grass popped out two canines - A poochyana and a growlithe. While the growlithe looked entertaining enough, it would appear as though her friend was already jumping on it. No matter.. Purrloin had a bone to pick with dark canines much like how she was a dark feline. "Purrloin, chase it off will you?" She narrowed her eyes downwards, and Purrloin happily responded by releasing the Abra's hand to turn to their little threat. "As cute as the little pooch is... Hone Claws." With a pleasant response, Purrloin sharpened her own claws rather quickly. "Lets finish this quickly.. Slash!" With a content smile, the Purrloin dashed off it's back foot with considerable speed. It was a pretty fast pokemon for a first stage, and Poochyena was barely able to keep up with the swift feline.
In pure frustration, the Poochyena's face scrunched up in a rather upset manner, visibly slowing down Purrloin through the use of scary face. This annoyed both pokemon and trainer greatly, and yet Purrloin was able to release that power into the slash that caused pretty good damage. While the Canine did get hit and growled in distaste, they used this close ranged moment to seep their fangs into Purrloin's flesh with the use of bite. "Ugh.. Purrloin! Slash right at it's head!" Mercilessly, the feline so very quickly used her other paw to slam down with sharpened claws, effectively causing hefty damage to the Poochyena. In the end, the little dark type retreated after finally realizing that they had met it's match.
With the battle over, Purrloin brushed off the dirt on her arm and hissed in distaste. "Looooin.. (Ugh.. Typical. Turning tail after seeing that I would strike back..)." It was barely a challenge to her, honestly. By the time they had finished, Fennel was using rollout on the fire type and it was eventually caught. A bright smile formed on the blonde's face, shaking her head. "Nah, it's fine. Purrloin had a bone to pick with the Poochyena anyways." Her smile brightened, pulling out Banette's pokeball and recalling the ghost type. "And you stay in here before you cause anymore trouble." As harsh as she seemed to her Banette, she had that playful tone in her voice. Truthfully, she did adore her Banette to no bounds. "So, where were we again? I'm assuming that your father is a scientist then? I'm sure he'd be thrilled finding that you've captured a cute little fire canine."
