mistaking smoke for heaven's light ❝ Entering a completely foreign region would have most people feeling intimidated and overwhelmed. Abel, however, felt more alive than ever. He took the challenge head on, inhaling the new air and scanning the bright blue horizon line. He had only been in Sinnoh for a few days and had found himself planted on ashen ground that some people used to call home. Seeing as the place had no meaning for him, nor did Abel even give empathy the slightest chance regarding the history of the place, he continued moving forward. His goal was clear. To aid in the successful take over of the region by Team Rocket. To play an important role in that, the man was going to need more than a single Pokemon. His boots thudded across the wooden planks of a short bridge crossing over a gentle river, then crunched against the dirt of a worn path, before finally coming to a shuffling stop in a patch of moderately lengthy soft grass. Normally stealing Pokemon is more of a Rocket's forte but there had not even been the single shadow of another human being so capturing would have to do for now. Abel's hand closed around the Pokeball his only Pokemon resided in. Weaken the Pokemon first, then go in for the capture. It seemed a simple enough process. If kids were doing it, why couldn't he? Before that though, Abel had to actually find a wild Pokemon.

mistaking smoke for heaven's light ❝ The moment of truth arrived when there was the sound of rustling and the pale tail feathers of a bird Pokemon poked into view. Abel smirked with eagerness and with a flick of his wrist he sent his own Pokeball into the air. "C'mon out Bishop." In a flash of red light a Pawniard was summed from the red and white capsule. It landed with a soft thump in the ground, looking back at it's trainer for a second before also taking notice of the movement. So far the wild Pokemon seemed to be too preoccupied to both with their presence, which was just fine with Abel. "Alright Bishop, use slash!" The steel and dark Pokemon grunted in agreement and dashed forward, lifting an arm and bringing it down upon the other creature who squawked with alarm. The Rufflet flapped it's wing, making a short space between it and it's attacker. With a clear view of what was going on now, the Pokemon retaliated. It cried out and quickly darted forward. Reacting fast, Abel called out quickly, "Use scary face!" The Pawniard steeled itself, staring down the bird Pokemon with a vicious glare. The Rufflet visibly faltered but didn't stop it's attack, slamming one of it's wings against the steel and dark Pokemon's body. The Pawniard stumbled back slightly but quickly regained it's footing. Abel reached for an empty Pokeball, taking this moment to try and catch the wild Rufflet. He tapped the white button in the center, expanding the sphere to it's correct size before tossing it at the flying and normal type. It bumped against the top of it's head and opened up, swallowing up the bird before closing and falling to the ground. Now came the feeling of anticipation as it wiggled back and forth, painting the air with suspense of whether the Pokemon would be captured or not.

mistaking smoke for heaven's light ❝ Abel smirked as the Pokeball fell still, emitting a soft ping to communicate the successful capture. He stepped towards where it lay on the ground, patting his Pawniard on the head as he passed by. Crouching, the Rocket grunt picked up the red and white sphere, admiring it's fit in his hand before pocketing it away. One was not enough however. A quick glance over his first Pokemon revealed just a few scuffs against it's metal form. The Pawniard could go for another round, Abel assumed, and the two of them didn't have to wait long. Out of the corner of his eye, the male spotted movement and turned to face it. A Wurmple was had been slowly pulling itself up the side of the tree that was sitting on the edge of the uncut grass. It had halted when Abel spied it and the two made eye contact. He scoffed, obviously not thinking too highly of the small bug Pokemon. Reaching for an empty Pokeball, Abel grumbled, "Not even worth attacking it. It's already weak enough." Yet, as he raised his arm to to toss the ball at the Wurmple, it let out a cry and fired forth a string shot, sticking the object to his hand. Abel let out a noise that went from startled to frustrated in response. "Bishop!" He quickly barked and said Pokemon was at attention, not needing further commands to know what to do. It rushed forward, preparing a metal claw attacked, and knocked the bug type to the ground where it wiggled on it's back in distress. During that, Abel had managed to scrape the mess off of his hand and then, as his Pawniard moved out of the way, tossed the Pokeball at Wurmple. It bumped against the small creature and then opened up, enveloping it in a soft red light and drawing it inside the capsule.

mistaking smoke for heaven's light ❝ With a second Pokemon captured, Abel could've chalked it up to it just being his lucky day but he was the kind of guy who would lean more on the side of believing in his own skill, even if he was new at this. The Rocket might not think much of the newly obtained Wurmple, but he got it anyways. Crouching down, Abel picked up the object and stored it away. From the grass came a rustling and then a Spinda dizzily wobbled out of it. Swaying to and fro, it had probably made it's way over to them to see what had been causing all the noise. Abel straightened up but then turned his back to the normal type. He was going to have to start heading towards the nearest city to visit a PokeCenter. Floramora Town was certainly no more so it looked like the next place to go would be Eterna City. To get there he would have to trek through the forest. The idea of the hike bestowed a feeling of energy within Abel as he reached for a potion. He sprayed it's contents on his Pawniard, who seemed instantly invigorated, before returning it to it's Pokeball and moving forward. (ooc; Just making sure I'm getting the mechanics right, since I've encountered three wild Mons in this thread I decided to move my character over to the forest so I'd make a new connected thread there, yeah? And should I place "closed" in the title of this thread?)
