major news alert!
witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
Walking along an open pathway along route 201, Orvis would occasionally check his small bag attached to his hip. He knew they were there, but making sure his pokeballs were safe and sound gave him some comfort. He realised that it wasn't a good idea to have Skarmory flying around the open all the time, wild pokemon would often attack the poor fella.
"Hmm. Where to go now?"
It was pretty straight forward, but there were different areas along the route: trees, rocks, rivers and the odd boulder. But wait, what was that in the distance?
A figure approached, too far away to make out who it actually was or what they were doing. But they were getting closer. Another trainer perhaps?
"Oh boy, oh boy. Could this be my first trainer battle?"
Orvis cracked his knuckles, excitement flowing through him as a joyful grin appeared on his face. This would be something he would never forget.
It had been a while since North had come to Route 101. The last time she was here her Starter, Garchomp was just a small sweet little Gible. The memories she had here came flooding back, as she recalled battling their first ever pokemon, a feisty Trapinch that would of seriously gotten on Garchomps nerves quiet alot.
Whilst she was reminiscing she heard someone talking quite excitable. Turning around she saw someone, a male to be exact, and somone who would be classified as quite handsome.
Deciding to introduce herself, she went over to the lads direction and did so.
"Hiya!!" Sporting the largest full teach smile one could ever do, North was bouncing around with excitement too. May be she would be able to battle someone again.
A young spritely woman came bounding over, all sunshine and rainbows with a cheerful ‘Hiya!’ to start it all off. Orvis laughed, he expected some kind of shady character to come waltzing towards him, definitely not this.
“Hi there!”
Orvis scratched the back of his head awkwardly, not really sure how to initiate a battle or if they were going to do so in the first place.
“So uhr… I’ve never really done a trainer battle before. Is there a particular amount of pokemon you’d like me to use?”
He reached down into his bag and started arranging all the pokeballs he had accumulated over the past few days. Orvis was rather proud of his collection to be honest, each pokemon was unique and special with amazing personalities. There were some pokemon he hadn’t properly used yet, like the Scyther that was gifted to him and a couple of others he had caught in the wild.
After her smilely introduction North listened to what Orvis had to say as she just found out what him name was. Seemed like the guy wanted to battle, but did know how many pokemon to use, North did not really care how many pokemon he used, she just wanted to battle someone. :It'd been a while since she last battled someone, and even then they kept using the same move over and over, so she did find it a little boring.
"Well Nice to meet you Orvis, im North last name Winters" said the last part with a smile and wink just so that she could ease any awkwardness that may be there.
"I only have 3 pokemon, so im not fussed if you use 6 pokemon, I just like to battle for the experience."
Well, this seemed like it would be a friendly fight. The girl seemed young, full of energy. In a way she reminded Orvis of himself, just a girl instead of course. What awkward tension lay between them had quickly melted away, this battle would be fun and a completely new experience for him.
“Well then, I feel like it would be only fair if I use three of mine as well.”
Now who should he pick? Some pokemon had a wider range of moves, like Tenne his gastly for example. Whereas Demetrius wasn’t the best at battling right now. He’d select three pokeballs from his bag, getting them ready; Gastly, Corsola and Skarmory were at the ready.
“Alright Tenne, you first!”
The small orb of darkness materialised in a red flash of light, smiling excitedly for the battle to come.
“I can’t wait to see what kind of pokemon you have!”
Hm a ghastly huh? Okay lets send out my cutey pie. "Okay, then lets try this. Kurai, time to pay a visit!" As the four legged electric pokemon made its way out of the pokeball, it let loose some of its store electricity, rupturing a small part of the ground. Her attempt at intimidation did not suit her at all, but it was apart of her personality, always looking for a fight, baring North herself, and fellow pokemon owned by her trainer.
Kurai, was pretty much a safety pick for North, she has been so relaible since, she had first caught her and now it was time to prove it.
Knowing that only her Thunderbolt attack would work on it, thanks to her research about pokemon for the time she was stuck at home. It was time to try something,
"Use quick attack to try and confuse that ghastly and use Thunderbolt"
Heeding her trainers instruction she used the burst of speed to run past the ghastly multiple times, a blur of yellow was only seen by North, she couldnt even tell if the ghastly could keep up but netherless Kurai kept going. Releasing the thunderbolt whilst using her quick attack would only then have streaks of electricity flying through the air and not taking any preference to who it was about to hit as even North had to move back 2 feet to avoid it.
She was quite pleasantly surprise at Kurai, she was definately showing signs of improvement.
Orvis’ eyes lit up as he saw the jolteon, a pokemon he hadn’t encountered in person yet. It was truly stunning, the bright yellow and jagged fur, he couldn’t wait to see the battle between them. Orvis watched as the electric-type darted forwards with quick attack, but wasn’t expecting the pokemon to use it just to confuse Gastly.
“Tenne, try to keep an eye on it!”
The ghost tried to keep up with the jolteon but it was far too fast, then a dazzling flash of electricity shot through the sky and struck Tenne.
“Quick! Payback time!”
Tenne would retaliate quickly, spinning round as fists of darkness appeared to strike the jolteon with added force.
“Now use hypnosis!”
After the first attack, Gastly would release ripples of psychic energy around him in an attempt to put the pokemon to sleep. Orvis was loving every second of it so far, this was nothing like a wild battle at all.
The Gastly was quickly shocked by the speed of his opponent, streaks of yellow whizzed past him as he kept spinning round trying to see where it went.
The lightning then enveloped him, shocking him as he spun around from the force. Upon hearing his trainers commands, he'd spin around in the direction of the joleton and sending shadowy fists in its direction before using his hypnotic powers to put it to sleep.
Tenne was hit by thunderbolt ! Tenne used payback ! Tenne used hypnosis !
Seemly enough North's strategy did work, and definately seemed to confuse the ghastly. The thunderbolt of Kurai, definately did a significant amount of damage but no where enough for the pokemon to show any signs of fatigue.
Kurai, was quite smug that her attack pulled a fast one on the ghastly but as she came by once more, she failed to see a dark fist smack right into her face. Payback. Literally it was payback, and as Orvis called out the move, he instantly followed up with a hypnosis attack.
There Kurai lay there slumped asleep as the ghastly managed to land its hypnosis attack on her.
Kurai
Gender:Female /Type: Electric Ability: Volt Absorb / Item: N/A Moves: Thunderbolt, Tackle, Swift, Quick Attack, Growl, Sand-Attack - Health: - 64% / Asleep Field Effects -
Now sound asleep, Orvis could commence one of his favourite tactics with his Gastly. It worked quite well in the wild, so hopefully it would do the same thing now.
"You know what to do Tenne! Nightmare and dark pulse!"
Laughing menacingly, Tenne would release wispy tendrils of darkness that dived towards the sleeping jolteon, coiling themselves around her before sapping away at her strength. Followed by this attack was a beam of darkness that slammed down to the ground, kicking up dirt from the force of the blow.
It was strange however, Orvis got a twisting sensation in his gut. watching two pokemon fight like this seemed a bit off, sure he had taken part in fights with wild pokemon but this... This felt kind of 'wrong'?
A strange screaming sound emitted from the tendrils of darkness as they worked their way inside of jolteon, giving her nightmares that somehow managed to eat away at her health. #logic
The Gastly was loving every second of this fight so far, it was such a thrill trading blows with one another (even if there wasn't much 'trading' involved). But he did find it strange how his trainer kept pulling strange faces, almost like he had been stabbed or something.
Oh well, Tenne was having fun and he was going to continue doing what he was doing.
"Tsk" North was annoyed at the fact that Kurai fell asleep, not at her ofcourse as it was her not her fault, but at the fact that she herself had not thought of something to prevent something like that happened.
As she watch Kurai get tormented in her dreams, she couldnt help but feel bad for her and needed to take her out of the situation as fast as possible. Seeing the dilema she quickly returned the sleeping Kurai back into her pokeball. She had more pokemon she could use but was unsure whether it was up to the task.
It was a bit soon, but she sent him, out. The pokemon that she had been with from the beginning of her journey. As Tempest's pokeball hit the ground, a loud roar was released as the full grown landshark pokemon and made its presence known. He took no prisoners, regardless of the pokmon.
"Lets roll, Temp' Use Sandstorm and then Metal Claw"
As the large bipedal shark pokemon released its sandstorm, enveloping Orvis' ghastly as the same time. Activating its ability, the large pokemon seemingly disapeared making silhouette afterimages inside the storm.
The strength of the sandstorm was immense to the point the North had to shield her eyes before pulling down her goggles at the top of her head to protect herself.
Inside the midst of the sandstorm Tempest was preparing its attack, as its Claw and fin hardened to a metal consistency. Finding its target inside the sandstorm was an easy feat for Tempest, and as soon as he located him, he propelled himself towards him, with both claws and fins, glowing white indicating that its about to use a steel type move.
It had never occurred to Orvis that the other trainer would switch out, after all, it’s not like wild pokemon switch with their pals in battle. The trainer laughed slightly, smiling at the fact that this battle was something very different to what he’s experienced before. Jolteon was returned and a monstrous looking pokemon was then sent out – Garchomp.
To say Orvis was a little scared would be an understatement.
He swallowed a lump in his throat, Gastly too was rather worried about this pokemon. In a flash, a sandstorm has whipped up around them all, causing Orvis to back away and shield his eyes with his arm. It was hard to see or hear anything that was going on now, but he did hear the sickening thud sound as a metal claw slammed into Gastly.
“Gastly! Use payback and confuse ray!”
It was a rushed command, but an order nonetheless. Gastly sent shadowy fists flying forwards before two orbs of light headed towards Garchomp. Let’s just hope Gastly can last a little longer in this storm.
Tenne's plan had failed and now he was face to face with a giant land shark dragon creature. In only a matter of seconds, sand was biting into his body, followed up by a nasty slash by the dragon.
If it weren't for Orvis, gastly would have no idea what to do right now. But he gave it everything he got, even if he was on his last legs for this fight.
Tenne is hurt by metal claw ! Tenne is buffeted by the sandstorm Tenne used payback ! Tenne used confuse ray !
Cute. Thats what it was to Tempest as he watched the poor ghastly try to hit him in the sandstorm. Sand Veil was a monstrous ability in the right hands and right now, Tempest was about to make the most of it. Roaring inside the sandstorm, cause it to ravage even wilder blowing North away by a meter, but she managed to stay on her feet somehow. Probably because she has done this many times with him.
Inside the sandstorm Tempest could see the ghastly throwing around little fists made of darkness that would never meet its target making him swing about in a panic. The poor thing even went and threw a blind confuse ray in a tiniest hope of trying to hit something.
It was time to finish the little pokemon, and put it out its misery. "Temp' Dragon Claw." Some how in the ravaging storm Tempest managed to hear his Trainers quiet command so that he knew it was time to put the ghost pokemon 6 feet.
It didn’t take a genius to see that Tenne was missing everything. He was just attacking blindly and being buffeted by the sandstorm by the second. Amidst the sandstorm, Orvis could just about make out a purple flash of light before seeing a violent claw come slicing down towards Tenne.
The gastly ate shit, he was slammed against the ground and bounced back up like a softball... KO.
“Sorry Tenne, I wish I could’ve been more help!”
Orvis held out a pokeball, withdrawing Tenne before sending out his trusty starter pokemon, Zephyr. A flash of red light appeared in the sky before a giant metallic bird could be seen. The skarmory’s tough armour made the sandstorm ineffective against it. But now it was time for a deadly attack combo.
“Zephyr, use metal sound and air cutter!”
Skamory let out an ear splitting screech from his beak, the air waves rippling as it caused some of the sand in the air to break away. Then with a flick of his wings, a blade of air came rocketing down.
Zephyr was sent out, soaring in the air and through the sandstorm with ease. Tenne must have been destroyed by this garchomp, but hopefully with Zephyr's steel and flying typing, he'd be able to hold his own.
Zephyr used Metal Sound ! Zephyr used air cutter !
"Garchomp!!" A roar in return as Orvis sent out his Skarmory. A slight sound of annoyance could be heard in Tempest's voice as he was not an avid fan of flying. Despite his typing he could fly atleast thats what his pokedex entry stated when North looked at when he first evolved.
A horrendous screeching sound was let free as soon as Orvis commanded his Skarmory to make its move. The sound was so bad that Tempest moved its claws up to its head to block any more sound from entering his ear drum. This was annoying him ever so much that he had to stop it. Even with out his trainer telling him, using Dragon Rage he sent the purplish dragonic energy towards the skarmory in hope shut it up, but in doing so he receive a sharp blast of air cutting as his body.
Seeing this and the airborne bird she knew she had to knock it down to the ground.
As one blade of air came crashing down, so did a blast of draconic energy, pushing Skarmory backwards but luckily not affecting the aim of the attack. The impact of air cutter caused sand to blast backwards, making a small clearing before it was swallowed up again by the storm.
Unfortunately, Orvis was too busy keeping an eye on the sandstorm that he didn’t see the Garchomp jump up, using a powerful dragon claw and slamming Skarmory down to the ground. Zephyr let out a pained cry before jumping up back to his feet.
“Quick Zephyr! Fly back up and use air cutter, make it double!”
Thanks to the attack from garchomp, Zephyr had become somewhat faster than before thanks to his weak armour. He zipped around side to side, making it difficult to see exactly where he’d attack from. Then, blades of air would come plummeting towards the dragon from each side.
Due to his sassy attitude, Zephyr was rather pleased with his attack and didn't expect the Garchomp to come leaping up to his height. With a sickening 'crack', Zephyr was slammed to the ground by a large purple claw.
Acting on his own accord, he'd quickly jump on his feet before following Orvis' commands. Sure he loved his trainer, but it would be much more useful if he actually paid attention a little more, like at least try to command Zephyr to dodge some attacks?
Zephyr was hit by Dragon Rage ! It's not very effective... Zephyr was hit by dragon claw ! It's not very effective... Zephyr used air cutter x2 !
