major news alert!
witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
[attr="class","humour"]"that's just unfair now," he spoke as the pachirisu appeared out of nowhere, biting the vulpix to take away half of its health. he glanced over at the girl, finding it much more amusing than she did judging by her tone. he couldn't care less about the bug but more so about annoying her.
"just give it up." the blaziken was taken to the ground then slammed. his pokeball was parried away once more. it wasn't going to end anytime soon. the blaziken started to get annoyed at the smaller pokemon, quickly pushing them off and getting back on its feet. with them up close it wasn't hard to deliver a SKY UPPERCUT and a BLAZE KICK to each pikachu. nikki's pokeball was stopped by another EXTRASENSORY, her pachirisu also hit by the same EXTRASENSORY.
another pokeball was thrown followed by a glare at her. "stop."

[attr="class","dibody3"]"then you should have paid better attention to your surroundings." she's stern now, voice older than it should be. it's a shadow of her older sibling; she hates it, but it's true. the crackle of electricity that had been buzzing around the grassy area had been obvious to her, but she considers that maybe she was just used to it. both raichu are sent into the sky, flames enveloping their body but failing to bring them down.
they're stronger now. it shows. they instead take advantage of their height, both THUNDERBOLTS crashing toward the blaziken while an ELECTROWEB is aimed to blind the thing before it can attempt to dodge. The pachirisu delivers a SWEET KISS to the vulpix before scampering away into the thick brush again, scared away by the pain of extrasensory. nikki herself jumps in the bat the ball away, standing ground over the 666 herself. "take your own advice." she drops another ball on the thing.
Watching the pair literally fight with each other over something as simple as a vivillion had been pretty amusing so far for the man. However it had started to look as if it would never end between them. Sighing slightly Corbin would grab one of the special pokeballs out of his pockets, looking back at his klink as he momentarily whispered something to it.
A few moments later he'd toss the pokeball backwards at his own klink, the ball wedging itself in between the two gears of the pokemon. As the ball landed between them the two gears would begin to rotate quickly. Causing the special bug catching contest pokeball to shoot forward from the klink faster then Corbin could throw it.
The ball of course also heading for the Vivillion. .

fidel arrived at the bug-catching contest a bit late, as it stood. as soon as she'd heard of it, she detoured through coronet, and, by way of blitzle and taxi, found herself in solaceon. so here she was, walking into the first designated area when... er, hm. "are they... fighting each other?" her scizor just shrugged and adjusted it's straw sunhat, while her armaldo attempted to firmly grasp it's bug-catching net without breaking it.
she just looked at the two trainers duking it head to head nonplussedly. "it's just a vivillon..." she shook her head. whatever people wanted, man. she already had her fair share of bugs, but catching more pokemon was always a good idea, right? especially with unlimited pokeballs. either free money or free pokemon? my man, she was poor. any good deal was something she'd jump on.
"well! knife! money!" her two already-standing bug-types nodded, the scizor now fairly content with the placement of it's sunhat. "let's do some catching." fidel chirped with a single mantra running through her head.

OI YOU! SHUT YOUR MOUF AN LOOK A MY WAD! LOADSAMONEY!
A grin quickly spread across Corbin's face as his bug catching pokeball shot through the air and managed to capture the Vivillion before the two bickering were able to actually capture it. Muttering out a couple quick polite "excuse me"s he'd head on over to pick up the Vivillion's pokeball. Once getting to said pokeball the man quickly scooped it up, dropping it into his back pocket, his only pocket free of excess special pokeballs at the moment.
"Wonder how many more we're gonna find?" He asked the rest of the group as he began to head back over to his original spot in front of his Klink, only to hear the cry of the suddenly appearing Drapion.
Turning his head to glance back at it, still walking however, Corbin would whistle a couple times, smirking ever so slightly. "Thats a pretty big one, should be worth a decent amount if none of you guys want to actually use it.."
While he wasn't too interested in the pokemon itself however more money never hurt, plus the man already had a Skorupi of his own. It wouldn't take him too long to evolve it into a Drapion if he felt like adding one to his team at some point. "Might as well try to catch it huh Clockwork..alright Lock-On and Zap Cannon combo." He said while digging into his pocket in search of another empty pokeball.
Shaking around in the air in response the dark haired man's Klink would float in front of him, taking careful aim at the Drapion. Then firing off a Zap Cannon attack, sending a ball of electricity heading right on a collision course with the Drapion and only the Drapion. Not bothering to waste any more time Corbin would toss the pokeball he grabbed at the large purple pokemon, the pokeball following right behind the Zap Cannon.
suddenly, there was a loud roar in the distance. it was a gurgle of absolute rage, followed by screeches and crackles of something insect-like. fidel tried to listen for the sound. scuttling. rustling. stomping. stabbing. closer-- it was coming closer-- wait, it was right there, what-- fidel looked up and saw a huge, violet monster looming over her.
"DRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--"
it cut itself off by swinging both of it's long, absolutely lovecraftian arms down on fidel with an aura of pure darkness. the girl was trained to dodge; she immediately flung herself back, letting the seeping night slash slice into the ground while she landed on her back. her scizor immediately threw it's sunhat away and her armaldo snapped it's net in two; this was a battle for the ages, and both of them knew it.
"PION!" suddenly, the drapion moved. it moved like a raging animal, absolutely bloodthirsty at the site of anything within it's territory. lunging forward, it grappled the armaldo with it's claws before chomping down on the fossil's nekc with a jaw covered in cold energy. the armaldo, rock-type tank that it was, bore the attack fairly well, but still yelped at the sheer shock of it all.
"SH-SHIT! knife, bullet punch, money, harden!" fidel gritted out, trying to get back onto her feet while her pokemon took the brunt of the blows. money decided to play the target and promptly begun to encase itself in further armor, letting the drapion gnaw on it more while a red blur lodged a metallic claw into the poison-type's side.
"DRAAAAAAAAAAAAA--" said wild pokemon did not enjoy that attempt. letting go of the armaldo, it quickly leapt forward with all of it's many legs and swung around a night slash at the scizor. with it's eyes on the long appendage, the steel-type countered the attack with it's own night slash, but was blown back a few feet when it realized the counter was considerably weaker than the drapion's attack.
fidel sprinted around the battle as a whole, going an entire half-revolution before leaping off the ground and mounting the drapion. goddamn it, three good bodies could take on this absolute fucking MONSTER of a pokemon! it's in her nature to fight with things, goddamn it! instead of trying to punch it or whatever, the human trainer wrapped her arms around it and held it's cylindrical body in a chokehold, distracting the drapion long enough to allow her pokemon an opening.
the trainer roared her orders once more, just barely overpowering the drapion's angry cries. "FUCKING-- SMACK DOWN, THEN USE BULLET PUNCH TO DRIVE IN THE ROCK!" her pokemon, having regrouped, immediately sprung back into action. fidel was currently in one hell of a rodeo, tightening her muscles as strong as possible to stay on the drapion.
it's claws flailed to behind it's head, and fidel felt her back slice open while blood started to spill. everything hurt, goddamn it, but she kept staying on the drapion. in the meantime, a pronounced "KERCHINK, BOOM" rang through the air, and a sharp piece of rock embedded itself in the drapion's torso, causing it to cry out in pain despite choking.
next came the scizor. the armored pokemon flew in as fast as it could and delivered an anger-powered bullet punch where the projectile dug into the drapion, pushing the rock further into the drapion's system and causing it's struggle to weaken. despite it's trainer's orders, the scizor zoomed to it's trainer and forcefully pried her off the drapion while the enemy was still suffering, laying her on her stomach in the grass. the red pokemon then took a pokeball and released it, revealing an espurr.
hfidel's eyesight was getting blurry, and she was starting feel woozy. shit, she lost a lot of blood there. turning her head, she spotted the drapion's back, which was painted in splotches of red. shit. the girl pulled out a potion from her back and handed it to her espurr. "key, just-- just use the potion on me..." the psychic-type did the best it could to try and heal the wound with the medicine, staggering the blood loss with a small-scale light screen.
meanwhile, the two bug-types continued to assault the drapion, following their trainer's orders completely. smack down, bullet punch, repeat. smack down, bullet punch, repeat. the drapion whipped around and kept striking at both the scizor and the armaldo with night slashes before catching the fast bug-type mid-flight with a fire fang. scizor went unconscious mid-air, falling face-first into the mud.
the drapion continued it's rage, now facing off against the armaldo by itself. said armaldo was fatigued after continuously working with the scizor to bring down this opponent. "DRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRR!" the two swung their claws against each other, night slash on x-scissor, one battling for dominance, the other battling for compassion. they clashed in a test of strengths... before the drapion suddenly found a zap cannon in between it's eyes.
with that critical blow, the giant dark-type slowly begun to sink to the ground, seemingly using all it's willpower to stay up. it was to no avail, and it's body succumbed to the continuous damage it was sustaining. before it hit the ground, however, a poke ball flew in and encased the drapion within.
the nearly-unconscious fidel bolivar gave a small frown at the blurry sight, her wound not quite healed, but in better condition than before. that... wasn't her. but she could still... fidel threw a poke ball at it with the best hand she had at the moment. with that, the trainer faded from the living world, now asleep in her espurr's arms.
the armaldo hobbled over to the espurr's position, giving it a tired look before smiling at it's trainer and loudly falling on the ground next to her. armaldo had fainted, as well. the espurr looked sadly on all three of it's fallen comrades before taking two pokeballs and returning the scizor and the armaldo. from here... no, it's trainer's travels couldn't be in vain. from here, the espurr would catch pokemon for fidel from now on.

FIDEL FAINTED ARMALDO FAINTED SCIZOR FAINTED ESPURR IS NOW THE CHARACTER ATTEMPTING CATCH ON DRAPION
"Well that...happened.." Corbin muttered out at what the younger girl had done just to try to capture the Drapion that appeared. At least her efforts were successful. He honestly wasn't bothered at all about losing out on capturing it, that girl obviously had wanted it more then he did. As well he had no idea where the pokeball he sent the Drapions way even went, not that he was too worried about it. The brief thought of going to find the ball to try to reuse crossed his mind, only for him to remember that in fact both pockets of his pants were bulging with the special bug catching pokeballs.
Still in a bit of shock about the fact that the girl and two of her pokemon fainted Corbin would just stand around until the next two pokemon had shown themselves. Internally he was debating on whether or not he should take the fainted girl to the hospital. "Uhh....do you guys think she'll be okay?" The man muttered out as he looked around to see if any of the other participants were still around. Or if they had decided to stop bickering long enough to listen to someone else.
Hearing a rustling sound in the trees the man looked upwards to try to figure out what was making the noise, only to be greeted with the sight of a Swadloon hanging around from a branch. Seemingly not even putting any thought into it Corbin reached down into his pocket and pulled out a couple of the special bug contest pokeballs. Literally chucking a hand full of them up at the Swadloon. He might not of wanted to use that pokemon on his team but hey more money wouldn't hurt right?
[attr="class","idfc3"]can't let you do that starfox!
[attr="class","idfc4"]
He wasn't a big fan of this contest most people were just catching pokemon to sell them later, that wasn't respectful to the pokemon, not in his opinion, but nonetheless he'd watched as trainers fought and contested each other over various bug pokemon. His treeko sits beside not a fan of the event itself, however, when the duo spots a rather scared looking Swadloon attempting to disengage from the event entirely. It was one thing if the pokemon seemed like they we're enjoying themselves but this little guy was anything but. The trainer didn't look like the most honest type either, it was a little superficial judging him like that but still the Ven didn't feel too comfortable.
It's when the boy launches a mass of pokeballs that two go on the offensive. "Xin knock them out of the sky." the grass pokemon was more than happy to comply using agility to knock a few of them away from the swadloon. Whatever the pokemon was unable to block would hit Ven himself, the man leaping out of a tree body blocking the small bug pokemon. "Don't worry little bud, this really isn't your scene right now yeah? I'll protect you." He flinches as balls hit his back before turning to the other trainer, "Sorry bud, but I don't really think she wants to participate, I'll take care of her, aite?" If the grass type chose to join the trainer Ven would step aside, if it wanted to travel with Ven he wouldn't have any qualms with that either, the man had no problems even it chose neither of the trainers and fled, as long as the pokemon was happy with the situation the ranger was happy.
[attr="class","idfc5"]POKEMON NAME, TYPE (ABILITY) MOVE -- SET -- HERE
As the other ranger and his treecko suddenly made their appearances known by blocking all the random pokeballs that Corbin threw at the Swadloon the dark haired man would simply shrug his shoulders. He honestly didn't care too much about what happened to the Swadloon, he wasn't sure if anyone else would and had chosen to try to capture it to return to the people organizing the contest.
Hearing the sound of whirring gears behind him Corbin would turn around and gently pat his Klink on what would be its forehead. He could tell that the steel pokemon wanted to lash out at the other ranger and their Treecko for just swooping in like that and interfering in what its trainer was doing. Corbin couldn't let it do that though, he had no reason to fight anyone here this was supposed to be some friendly contest after all.
"Alright, take good care of it then." Corbin called up to the man in the tree, not a single hint of sarcasm, spite or any other negative emotion in his voice. He was a ranger too after all, if another trainer wanted to actually take care of the Swadloon instead of returning it to the contest owners he didn't really have a reason to stand in their way. He also wasn't sure of the Swadloon's gender so he had referred to the pokemon as an it instead.
Slipping his left hand into his pocket the dark haired man would go back to looking around the contest area, trying to see what other bug types would show themselves. Either not noticing the Wurmple or simply not caring enough about it.

HEARTS ALL OVER THE WORLD

key, the espurr, took one last look at her sleeping trainer. her trainer... her trainer would be okay. but, just in case... the cat pulled out a poke ball and released a certain fire-type. lighter blinked before turning her attention to her unconscious trainer. they begun to speak in the pokemon language. "key... bloody shit, what happened?" "bad battle. knife and money are down, too. get her medical attention. i'm catching pokemon for her."
the litleo seemed shocked, but nodded apprehensively. make sure their trainer was healthy, and make sure her attempts weren't in vain. the concept of mortality was very, very familiar when it came to fidel, and her pokemon still worried for her, but at the same time, they understood that fidel wouldn't want anything to be for naught. pulling out a piece of paper and a red marker, the espurr scribbled out a health cross and the human words for "HELP" she then let the litleo hold it. "i'll find someone. take care, love."
the psychic type nodded to her comrade once more before both of them off. key levitated fidel's bag as it ventured into the wilderness, and lighter waved the sign to any trainer she'd pass by before moving on. she shuffled past the feet of both of the rangers before noticing the wurmple, who nervously called out to key, which may have attracted the attention of trainers. "h-hey! are those trainers, uh, playing a game?" the psychic-type nodded. "yes. they wish to catch many bug-types." "ah... i guess i'll join in. er, are you catching, too?" the wurmple eyed fidel's floating bag apprehensively. key nodded again.
"yes." "i-i'll go with you, then! another pokemon doesn't seem so bad..."with that agreement, key threw a poke ball at the wurmple, a pokemon capturing a pokemon.

LIGHTER [LITLEO] ATTEMPTING TO CALL FOR HELP KEY [ESPURR] ATTEMPTING CATCH ON WURMPLE
when he'd first caught wind of the annual bug catching contest, he'd written it off. there are some memories left forgotten. but then he'd told himself that no, he was better than that. his mother used to tell him he couldn't spend all his time being scared of the dark (and even though he's still scared of the dark and this isn't going to change that, at least it's something.) so he signed up, albeit late, but one thing's for certain: he severely underestimated his competition.
had he known people were going to be this serious about catching bug pokemon for arceus' sake, he probably would have thought twice. but now, he stands there now, unsure whether or not he really wants to get between these trainers and their to-be pokemon. but even if he has no interest in adding bugs to his team, he is interested in the payout. with an unlimited amount of event balls in his arsenal comes an unlimited amount of possible pd, which could lead to quite a few tasty treats and more than the crappy canned food he's been eating for the past few months. what he wouldn't give for a slice of something sweet right now.
his dallying is cut short when myr draws his attention back to the bug fiasco before him, or rather, what was a bug fiasco. it seems the last wave of bug pokemon to have flown out into the open has been captured. well, all but one. he watches in bewilderment as an espurr catches the last remaining bug pokemon in the area. then he blinks the disbelief away and looks down at his two waiting team members.

NEXT TIME BEWARE THE NIGHT, FOR ALL CATS ARE BLACK IN THE DARK.
everything is blue xio's got sunglasses an an absrudly large sun hat on, and with her light colored floral dress she looks like the epitome of a lost traveler that's excited to explore despite their predicament. or maybe a rich girl that needs help because the wind is looking to take her hat. she doesn't know, she's attempting to catch the soft middle between the two.
"isn't that an oddly colored kricketune?" she asks, to no one in particular, thinking the obnoxious declaration is likely something the person she's aiming to look like would do. she tossing out sagittarius, and it immediately begins moving in a swords dance, lone eye on the kricketune.
it'll probably fetch a good amount, she thinks. it's a useless pokemon, but collectors love useless things. she'll never understand those types, she supposes. the honedge follows with an aerial ace, and then another, as the kricketune uses nightslash. the attack hits hard, and xio's eyes narrow behind the blackened glasses. "again, dear," she says, and honeedge obeys with a hollow roar.
the aerial ace is repeated, and the xio tosses a pokeball.
Corbin would blink in surprise as he waited around for some more bug types to show themselves, only to be greeted with the sight of an Espurr capturing a Wurmple. Which caused him to look around the route at the other participants, trying to see if anyone else had managed to watch the Espurr capture a pokemon. Wondering if he had just dealt with a brief hallucination or if that just really happened.
However his brief time trying to comprehend the situation would be cut short as another bug type pokemon appeared, this time a Scyther showing itself to the contestants, a pokemon that was surely worth a good amount. "Alright get ready Clockwork, we gotta at least try to catch this one-" he began to say to his Klink before he stopped mid sentence. Hearing another sound off to the side of the route, somewhere behind the trees. That sound being the cry of another pokemon, a cry that sounded like DELELELELE WOOOOO!
As soon as the pokemon made noise Corbin would snap his head in the direction that the sound came from and begin running towards the sound. Sure the Scyther could of been pretty valuable but he knew that sound very well, it was a sound that belonged to none other then Kricketune. While it probably wasn't as powerful as the other pokemon it was one that Corbin had been interested in having on his team for a long time, you could almost say it was on his wishlist. He had no interest at all in returning this one to the people organizing the contest, he was going to pay to keep the Kricketune on his team.
Peeking his head around the tree to try to get a glimpse of the Kricketune the dark haired man's jaw would literally drop as he saw the pokemon. Not only was it an actual real life Kricketune, but it was also a strange golden color instead of the normal red. "Holy shit..." He muttered out to himself as his Klink moved around the tree as well, trying to get a good look at the Kricketune. "Yeeeah hey clockwork, lock on and zap cannon real quick...I gotta catch this thing."
With the orders to begin a battle uttered Corbin's Klink would begin to spin around in the air slightly, locking onto the Kricketune to ensure that the Zap Cannon wouldn't miss. "Alriiiight...and now!" Corbin added as he tossed one of the special bug catching pokeballs at his Klink, the Klink firing off the zap cannon attack in the direction of the Kricketune. The Zap Cannon hitting the pokeball and carrying it along with it inside of the attack. So that the lock-on aided Zap Cannon would also bring the pokeball along with it so that both would hit the Kricketune at the same time.
However as his attack began flying towards the Kricketune Corbin would notice another pokeball coming in its direction, one that wasn't his. He had been so distracted by the idea of adding the Kricketune to his team that he didn't even realize someone else had appeared. Thanks to some earlier events Corbin already had the perfect idea on how to keep the Kricketune for himself, starting to run again towards the Kricketune. This time putting himself in between the Kricketune and the other trainer's pokeball, hoping to just take the ball to his own back like the other Ranger did for the Swadloon.
