The boy's pokemon fall one after the other, she's victorious. For a moment Charlotte almost expects the boy to try stabbing her now that he has no other weapon, but instead he spews threats before running off and disappearing into the thickening smoke. She doesn't have time to dwell on what he would do, where he would go, or what her being labeled a traitor would mean. Right now she needed to tend to Aster.
He was looking pale, sweat lining his brow and dampening his hair. Blood soaked most of the bottom half of his shirt and the upper part of his pants. His breathing was shallow and he looked on the verge of passing out. As she knelt next to him she couldn't help the tears that were beginning to well in her eyes. Why was she crying for him? She never cried, or very rarely. But seeing him like this scared the crap out of her, and she wasn't sure what to do. "Try to keep pressure on it," she says, feeling dumb since that was obvious. Even as weak as he was, Aster manages to release his Luxray. She knew instantly what this meant and listened intently as Aster struggled to tell her where to go. A safe house? It was better than nothing, and they'd for sure have medical supplies right? Either way they couldn't stay here, who knew if the boy would bring reinforcements.
"Okay," she says, wiping at her eyes and waiting for him to mount the dark wolf. She tries to help but he manages painfully without her. She had ridden behind him last time, but this time she'd take the lead, he was in no shape to be navigating, even if she wasn't exactly sure where this place was. She'd find it. The Luxray was eyeing her with distaste but Charlotte knew it wouldn't disobey Aster, and felt safe enough to get on. Still not used to mounting a pokemon it took a moment but she lifted herself up with a swing of her leg and grabbed the neck fur gently the hold on. "Hang in there, we'll be there soon just don't-" Her words stop abruptly as she feels the weight of his body slumping against her back and her body shivers with fear. "Please don't die on me, Nine do you know the way? We must hurry!" The Luxray looks at her once more, and then seems to understand. She bounds down the alley back where they first came, veering towards what she assumes is the west of town.
Out of the corner of her eye Charlotte swears she sees someone watching from the distance but she doesn't have time to worry about that right now. If they decided to follow...then she'll worry. The trio pass flames being put out, rangers and galactics fighting, people being rescued and other people in dire need of help. Her stomach flips at the scene but she keeps her eyes forward and determined. She can feel her back getting soaked with Aster's blood, the warm liquid sticking to her skin. She tries to deny what this means, she can't let herself panic.
After about five minutes of riding they make it to a large brick building, of what she assumes is the Ironworks. Nine runs around to the back, stopping at a large rusted metal door. "Is this it?" She says, and when the Luxray doesn't move she takes that as a yes. Quickly she hops off of Nine, watching as Aster's body falls forward but he manages to not fall off her back. He's out cold, but oddly looks peaceful. She's never seen him look this way and she just stares before snapping herself out of it. Turning she grabs the cold handle, hoping its not locked, and wrenches the door open. It creaks loudly with the force, but thankfully opens. It's dim inside, only a lone light hanging from the middle of the room, but her eyes adjust soon as she walks inside. Nine follows behind her, and Charlotte leads her over to one of the many cots lining one wall. "Please give me strength," she prays as she puts one of Aster's arms over her shoulders and pulls him off of the back of the Luxray. His weight nearly crushes her thin frame and she falls along with him onto the bed. Shifting she's able to roll out from under him, taking huge breaths after being winded.
He still hasn't gained consciousness and this worries the hell out of her. "C'mon, you're stronger than this!" She yells, rolling him onto his back and sliding his legs up so he's laying straight. She can see the slow rise and fall of his chest so he's alive, but she knows if she doesn't do something he won't make it. Glancing around she thanks the gods at a first aid kit stuck to the wall, ripping it off she runs back over, sets it on the cot, and opens it.
She has no medical training. None. So she'd honestly be going by instinct at this point. Taking a deep breath Charlotte turns to Aster, carefully rolling his shirt up and examining the wound. Too much blood. She grabs one of the sterile towels in the box, wiping as much blood away as she can. "Shit..." the wound was deep and over an inch wide. She had to stop the bleeding. Hands trembling she finds a surgical needle and thread. She had always been good at sewing...this wasn't much different...right? "Just do it!" She growls to herself, hoping there wasn't any bad internal bleeding, that this would be enough. It takes at least ten minutes of meticulous work, but when she sets the needle aside his wound is sewn up closed. A few drops of blood still seep out but it seems to be stopping for the most part. The blonde let's out a sigh of relief, grabbing some large white bandage and doing her best to wrap it all the way around his middle a few times to further protect it. This was all she could do.
With an exhausted sigh that almost turns into a sob she kneels on the ground and rests her head on the bed next to his arm. She doesn't know what possesses her to do this but she reaches up, grabbing his hand and squeezing it tightly. "Aster...please..."
