major news alert!
witness reports from all over the region has been flooding in about strange happenings at the three lakes. what's more perplexing is that these occurrences seem to be happening spontaneously at the lakes. just moments ago, a burst of light erupted at the locations and residents in the vicinity have reported that the lake-side pokemon have turned aggressive and attack on sight.
However, there have been rumours and sightings of the legendary lake trio which has had trainers flocking in from all over the region.
Cerys was sitting by the bank of Lake Verity, legs kicking up ripples in the otherwise still waters. It was rather like a holiday, the girl thought. Certainly better than her dusty room that she shared with her youngest sister. It was like the old days all over again, the days when she rarely did anything but play. And stare off into space, in the case of Cerys. If she stayed here all day, she wouldn't have minded.
Hazy took to the water immediately. The azurill was made for floating, after all, and was bobbing around in the shallows happily. Cerys didn't pay much attention to the baby pokemon, except to make a mental not to not pick the water mouse pokemon up until she was dry.
Toby was having a nap, beside Cerys. She had tried picking the egg-like creature up once, but was met with violent protests, and so he was left alone. He was now sleeping peacefully, making no noise to disturb the tranquility.
It was a rather nice day altogether for the girl sitting on the bank. Really nice, if a little boring. Adventure will come soon though, and with it excitement.
The rustling of nearby grass didn't bother the girl too much. Not even when the roundish pokemon came rolling out of the grass, almost landing in the lake. It was only when the spheal gave a little shriek at seeing a human so close to him that Cerys reacted.
Almost immediately, the girl stood up, ignoring her bare feet as she strode a few steps towards the panicking pokemon. Perhaps she didn't need to wait to find something exciting.
Before she could approach further, however, a small white ball rushed over her feet, chattering angrily.
It wasn't only Cerys the spheal disturbed when it shrieked.
Toby pointed at the round ball of a pokemon, mouth still opening and closing, though no sound seemed to be coming out. He was rather angry, though to most he just looked comical. Then, before he could stop himself, he Yawned. The action caused a little giggle to escape the girl.
The spheal was less amused, however. Now that he was facing something more his size than a human, he seemed more confident. And tired, too. Apparently, yawns were catching. He opened his mouth, but to release a jet of sparkling water, that hit the egg Pokemon hard and pushed him back several feet.
Toby wasn't deterred, however. He concentrated, waving his fingers left, then right. And again. Suddenly a strange look came over his face and he dashed towards his enemy, furiously attacking the spheal, once, twice, and again. The spheal opened his mouth, as if to attack once more.
Then the spheal fell asleep.
The togepi nodded, satisfied, and went back to sleep as well, as if nothing happened. Leaving Cerys staring at two sleeping pokemon. Wordlessly, she took a pokeball from her spare pouch, and threw it at the sleeping form. It absorbed the spheal in a flash of light, wobbled a few times, then stilled.
Cerys picked up the ball, and went back to her place by the water's edge.
The bellossom was a rather pretty thing, Cerys noted, as the flowery pokemon paraded slowly past the girl, seemingly ignoring their presence. Cerys observed the pokemon with interest for a while, until the Pokemon turned around to stare at her as well.
Cerys hesitated for a second. What was the pokémon's intention? Toby was asleep beside her, and probably wouldn't react pleasantly if she woke him. After a while, she slowly motioned for Hazy to come back to her, in case of danger.
But the bellossom grew disinterested. With a small sniff, the flower pokemon continued on her way, leaving Cerys staring at the place the creature had been. Then, she turned to the direction in which her azurill was approaching, and signalled for him to stay by her. Just in case something else came by.
The hiss in the nearby grass alerted Cerys to the presence of a Pokemon before she actually saw it. There were Pokemon appearing left and right now, what was it this time?
Another hiss came, causing Hazy to freeze beside the girl, and leaped up into the astonished girl's lap, with total disregard to her trainer's clothes. The baby mouse gave a small whimper, apparently scared. What was it that spooked the usually bright Hazy this much?
The culprit slid out eventually, eyes glaring straight at the blue Pokemon in Cerys' lap, and headed towards the group. What was she supposed to do now?
'Don't be scared. It's nothing to worry about.' She encouraged the azurill. Grabbing her, Cerys turned the Pokemon around to face the oncoming snake. She placed hazy down on the floor, at the same time grabbing the sleeping togepi and retreating several steps. 'Bubble beam!' She commanded, a lot more confident than she felt.
Hazy shot out a stream of bubbles at the snake Pokemon, still a little scared, but calming down just a little as the attack caused the snake to pause, ducking his head to get out of the way of the bubbles. Then, the snake hissed again, a stream of acid spray flying from his mouth. The water mouse stumbled back with a cry as the attack hit, trying to get rid of the clinging spray. The snake rushed forward, but before he could come any closer, Hazy stopped struggling and, using her long tail as a spring, slammed into the oncoming Ekans. With that the snake fell away, fainted.
Cerys let out the breath she was holding, and grabbed the water mouse by the tail. 'Go get yourself cleaned, Hazy.' She said, and pushed the startled Pokemon towards the lake. She scrutinised the Ekans for a moment, before kicking it away. 'Don't worry, I'm not taking vermin with me.'
Well, that was certainly not like the old days. There wasn't as much wild Pokemon around. It was sort of dangerous, actually. Maybe she should just go. Her hand moved to the pokeballs in her pouch, first recalling the sleeping togepi in her other arm, and then the azurill. She slid on her shoes, then, without another glance, left the lake.
